Chapter 5 "The Dreaded Drip"

EXT. TOWNSVILLE – DAY Townsville looks peaceful and quiet

NARRATOR Ahh, the city of Townsville. Home to everyone's favorite little heroes, the Powerpuff Girls!

Drip...

"ARGH! CURSES!" Mojo Jojo sat up in bed screaming and holding his hands to his ears.

Mojo said "The dripping of that accursed faucet is preventing me from sleeping. And if cannot sleep I cannot dream up my evil plans. And if I cannot dream up my evil plans I cannot destroy those Powerpuff Girls. And if I cannot destroy those Powerpuff Girls I cannot rule the world!"

Drip...

Mojo yelled "CURSES!" He gets out of bed and goes through his automated showering and dressing machine.

Mojo said "After I have breakfast I will find a way to fix that accursed faucet and prevent it from dripping and spoiling my plans."

EXT. Sky – DAY

Meanwhile the Powerpuff Girls are going to school in their usual manner, flying above the streets of Pokey Oaks subdivision where they live.

Buttercup keeps zipping around erratically.

Blossom said "Buttercup, what's with you? Hurry up or we'll be late for school."

Buttercup said "Aww, I'm just itching for a fight. We haven't been on a mission in a couple of days."

Bubbles said "Well I like it when it's quiet like this. I have more time to draw my pretty pictures."

Buttercup said "I'll draw you a picture, of you black and blue."

Bubbles sticking her tongue out at Buttercup) "You can't catch me you big meanie."

Buttercup flies after Bubbles toward Pokey Oaks Kindergarten.

Blossom trying to catch up) "Sigh, I hope there is some action soon. Not even the simulator can help Buttercup work out her excess energy."

Narrator

Meanwhile back at Mojo's lair he has finished breakfast and is now looking through Townsville's yellow pages.

Mojo said "Let's see now, kitchen sinks...here it is...see "plumbing"...plumbing, plumbing, ah, here it is...see "home repair"...home, home, ah, repair, repair...yes. See

"hardware stores"...CURSES, why do they make it so difficult to find information. Sigh, hardware, hardware, ah, finally.

There is a hardware store on Fifth street. That must not be far from here but I will have to look for it since I am not familiar with Townsville's streets. And why should I be, I have better things to think about than studying street maps. I have the world to rule, which I can't do because the dripping faucet is driving me insane. CURSES!"

Mojo makes sure he has his wallet and climbs down the long steps of his volcano lair and starts down the street. He stops every once in a while studying street signs and grumbling to himself.

Nearby two police officers in a squad car that is parked at the curb are eating donuts and watching him.

Officer 1 said "Hey, Muldoon."

Officer 2 said "Yeah, Chauncey."

Officer 1 said "Isn't that the monkey the Powerpuff Girls are always fighting?"

Officer 2 said "Yeah, that's that Mojo Jojo guy. He's got a long rap sheet. What's he doing?"

Officer 1 said "He seems to be just walking around like he's lost. Wanna' pick him up?"

Officer 2 said "Naw, he's done his time. And he's doing nothing illegal."

Officer 1 said "Maybe we should alert the Powerpuff Girls, let them know he's out and about."

Officer 2 said "Yeah, I guess, we got nothing better to do."

He reaches for a small button on the patrol car's dashboard which has a smiling face like on all the Powerpuff Girl hotlines.

EXT. SCHOOL – DAY

At Pokey Oaks Kindergarten the girls are coloring pictures. Bubbles seems to be enjoy this activity most of all. Buttercup though is having a tough time of it. Every time she goes over a line she crumples up the paper and starts over.

Blossom said "Buttercup, you really should relax."

Buttercup said "Zip it, red! I'm trying to concentrate here."

Bubbles said "You're trying too hard Buttercup. You have to feel the colors and let them flow across the texture of the paper. Become one with the crayon. Search your feelings, you know this to be true."

Blossom and Buttercup look at her with blank stares.

Bubbles "Giggle, sorry, I've been watching too much Star Wars."

Buttercup said "Well right now I feel like thrashing Jaba the Hut."

Blossom said "Bubbles has a point. You should learn to relax. Conserve your energy for when you really need it."

Buttercup said "Relax? I haven't done anything in days. My muscles might get soft and flabby."

Bubbles said "You mean flabby like your brain, giggle."

Buttercup said "You mock me again and I'll make you eat that drawing!"

Just then the hotline buzzed. Buttercup perked up as Blossom went to answer it.

Blossom said "Powerpuff Girls hotline. Oh, hello officer. Mojo Jojo, what's he up to? Uh, huh. I see. Well thank you officer. Keep up the good work."

Blossom puts down the receiver and goes back to their table.

Buttercup said "Well aren't we going to go after Mojo Jojo."

Blossom said "No, that police officer just said he saw Mojo wandering around downtown and thought we should know."

Buttercup said "Well let's go after him and stop his evil scheme."

Blossom said "No, he was not doing anything illegal."

Buttercup said "What, can't we just slap the stuffing out of him and find out what he is up to."

Blossom said "No, we can't do that. He has to do something illegal for us to act."

Buttercup said "This is too much. I'm getting frustrated here and I can't do anything about it."

Buttercup begins chewing on her crayons and spitting them out.

Bubbles said "Buttercup, crayons are not for eating."

(Buttercup glares at her baring her crayon stained teeth.

Blossom tries to defuse the situation.

Blossom said "Buttercup, if it will make you feel better we'll go on a patrol at recess and see what Mojo is up to."

Buttercup said "Well, okay."

Buttercup picks crayon wrapping out of her teeth as Blossom rolls her eyes. When recess came the girls flew out toward Townsville and soon found Mojo walking down a street. They saw him stop in front of a business.

Buttercup said "Ah, hah. See, he's planning on robbing that place."

Blossom said "Why, would he want to rob that?"

EXT. TOWNSVILLE Street Mojo stands in front of a store with a sign reading "Handy Sam's Hardware and Home Repair Center".

Mojo Laught "Muwah, hah, hah, hah, I have found it. Now I will be able to fix that dripping faucet."

The girls, hovering above, watch him enter the hardware store.

Buttercup said "Let's go. We can stop him before he does anything rotten."

Blossom said "No, we can't. We have to wait for him to actually do something illegal."

Buttercup said "Can't we just follow him and keep an eye on him?"

Blossom said "No, we can't just do that. We need a good excuse to get close."

Buttercup grimaces and trembles in frustration.

Bubbles said "Wait a minute. Didn't the Professor ask us to run an errand for him after school?"

Blossom said "Yes, he wanted us to pick up some hinges from the hardware store to fix that cabinet in the bathroom."

Buttercup said "Well, what are we waiting for. Let's get those hinges now instead of waiting for later."

The girls zoom down to the entrance of Handy Sam's. Inside Mojo is talking to Sam.

Mojo said "I need to prevent my kitchen sink faucet from dripping. It is keeping me awake, and if it is keeping me awake I cannot make plans to rule the world!"

Sam said "Well, it sounds like you have a worn valve seat gasket. What's the model number of your faucet?"

Mojo looks at him with a blank expression.

Mojo said "You mean I have to know the model number of my accursed faucet? Can't you just give me any old gasket?"

Sam said "Oh, no. Each brand of faucet is different. Here look through this catalog and if you see your model let me know."

Grumbling Mojo starts leafing through a color catalog of faucets. The girls walk in and up to Sam at the counter.

Sam said "Hello, girls. What can I do you for?"

Blossom said "Hello, Mister Handy Sam. The Professor needs hinges to fix a cabinet door, it's all here on this paper."

Narrator

Blossom hands Sam a piece of paper. He looks it over.

Sam said "Yeah, I got these. I'll be right back."

As Sam goes to the stock room the girls turn to look at Mojo who is still looking through the catalog.

Blossom - said "Hey, Mojo, what are you doing?"

Mojo glaring at them) "None of your business."

Buttercup said "Well I'm gonna' make it my business."

Blossom said "Buttercup, take it easy. Laughing You got to excuse her Mojo. She's a little excitable today."

Mojo said "Maybe she needs some Ritalin."

Buttercup said "What, why you furry faced goon, I'm gonna' kick your monkey butt..."

Blossom said "Buttercup, back off!"

Bubbles said "She's been eating crayons and that makes her cranky, giggle."

Buttercup said "Stow it, blondie!"

Blossom said "That's enough Buttercup. You keep quiet or I'll tell the Professor on you."

Buttercup glares at Blossom but stands there with arms crossed and a huge scowl on her face. Sam returns.

Sam Said "Here you go girls. Shall I put it on the Professor's account?"

Blossom said "Sure thing Sam. And thanks. See ya' Mojo."

Mojo grumbles, looking through the catalog as the girls leave.

Mojo said "Ah, hah. I have found it."

Sam said "Good for you. Yep, we got that that repair kit, got it right here."

Sam pulls a package off the pegboard behind the counter and hands it to Mojo who looks like a very happy monkey.

Mojo Laught "Mwah, hah, hah, hah, hah, hah, now I can rule the world!"

Sam Said "Will that be cash or charge?"

Ext. school day.

Narrator

Back at Pokey Oaks Kindergarten the girls are eating an afternoon snack. Buttercup is obviously stewing.

Inside the class at the Powerpuff girls table.

Buttercup said "I can't believe you wouldn't let me pound that monkey. After all he has done in the past how can you not think he was up to something?"

Blossom said "He wasn't doing anything illegal. We can't just knock down every criminal who is just standing there. It's not what this democracy is all about."

Bubbles said "Buttercup, if it makes you feel better you can pick on me again."

Buttercup said "Ah, it's not the same. Miss Goody Goody here won't let me do things my way."

Blossom said "And your way is terrorizing every criminal into submission?"

Buttercup said "It would be more fun."

Bubbles said "But then there wouldn't be anyone doing bad things anymore and you would get cranky again."

Buttercup "Grrr, that's not what I meant."

After school the girls fly home except for Buttercup who goes in the opposite direction.

Bubbles said "Blossom, Buttercup is not with us."

Blossom said "What! Where is she going?"

They quickly catch up with Buttercup who is floating outside of Mojo's volcano lair.

Blossom said "Just what do you think you're doing here?"

Buttercup said "I'm waiting for Mojo to start something and I want to be ready when he does."

Blossom said "You're wasting our time, we should be home waiting for the hotline call."

Buttercup said "Can it, Miss Bossy Pants. I've had it with your wussy attitude."

Buttercup gives Blossom a shove. Blossom gets angry at this and shoves back. Soon the two are grappling and shoving each other above Mojo's lair. Bubbles just watches and sighs. Meanwhile inside his lair Mojo is grappling with his own problems.

Mojo said "Curses, why is it so hard to repair this leaky faucet. Now this nut is frozen and I can't get it off. Maybe if I heat it?" He picks up a butane torch and turns the knob to light it. But there is no hissing sound of gas. He sniffs the nozzle.

Mojo said "Curses, my torch is out of fuel. Now I can't heat this nut to unfreeze it and repair this leaky faucet. What else can go wrong?"

At that moment Blossom and Buttercup both crash through Mojo's ceiling and hit the floor near him. They are still wrestling with each other.

Mojo said "What is the meaning of this?"

Bubbles - (floating down next to him) "Sigh, sisters."

Mojo shouting) "ENOUGH!"

Blossom and Buttercup stop their battle and stare at Mojo.

Mojo said "And what do you mean by this intrusion."

Buttercup - said "Look, Mojo, I know you're up to something. What's with all the tools and stuff you got there."

Mojo said "Well if you must know Miss Busybody, I am trying to fix a leaky faucet which has been dripping constantly and keeping me awake at night, keeping me from dreaming up plans to destroy you Powerpuff Girls and rule the world!"

Buttercup - said to Blossom) "See." (to Mojo) "A leaky faucet?"

Mojo said "Yes, and now you have put a hole in my roof which I have to fix delaying my plans even more."

Buttercup falls silent, a huge look of disappointment on her face. She is about to break out into tears. Blossom sees this and whispers to Mojo.

Blossom whisper "Look, Mojo, can't you just try something evil? Or do you want your reputation ruined once it gets out you refused to fight us?"

( Mojo glares at Blossom but soon sees her threat is real.

Mojo said "Tell you what I'm going to do girls. Let me just fix this faucet first and then I can give you an opportunity to fight me."

Buttercup - said brightening up) "Really?"

Mojo said "But first I have to loosen this nut but my torch is out of fuel and I can't heat it to remove it."

Blossom said "Let me give it a try."

Narrator

Blossom focuses her eye lasers and heats up the nut.

Mojo said "Ah, that does the job. Thank you. Now if you will give me ten minutes I will meet you outside and I will proceed to destroy you, mwah, hah, hah, hah!"

Buttercup said "Okay, Mojo, see you there."

As the girls fly outside Mojo finishes his job and is pleased with a faucet that no longer drips. Outside the girls wait at the base of the volcano.

Buttercup said "Uh, Blossom, Bubbles, I'm sorry for the way I acted. I've been really weird and..."

Blossom said "Forget it, Buttercup. As long as you're happy you got your fight."

( Mojo suddenly appears in a giant robot.

Mojo Laught "Muwah, hah, hah, prepare to be defeated Powerpuff Girls!"

Bubbles is about to take off at Mojo when Blossom stops her.

Blossom said "No, Bubbles. This one is just for Buttercup."

Buttercup said "Really, thanks sis."

Buttercup zooms toward Mojo who begins flailing his machine at her. Blossom and Bubbles just sit back and watch her fight with a renewed ferocity.
