"Look." Abigail yelled at us making me turn and I saw Sabastian and her walking on the beach towards me carrying as much wood as they could. "Oh shit you have so much, this was a waste."
"Nope the more the better." I yelled as I was fixing up all the wood I brought.
"Okay I will need some kindle." I spoke.
"I got plenty of used and crap notes from my book, that will catch quickly." Elliott spoke as he stood next to me, I smiled at him and he headed to his cabin.
When I told them I wanted a bonfire on the beach they ran with it and soon the whole town was coming and most have brought something to throw on the fire.
Gus even bought a few coolers of beer and pop, it was nice as the kids played down the beach and we need to wait for the sun to drop but that wont be long.
Lewis came and stood next to me. "We should do this every year." I smiled.
"I have never done this before." I spoke standing up wiping my hands on my pants. "In the city there is no beach, you see it in movies and stuff and it always looked fun."
He was quiet and it made me look at him, a small smile on his face as I turned to see where his eye's were and Marnie was coming our way, she was dragging a broken chair with ease making me smile. "How about you go help her with that."
He looked at me and smiled. "Yes she looks like she needs help." I smiled as I looked around at all these people having fun.
"You are already changing the dynamic." I looked over at Maru as she looked at me. "I am curious." She continued on her way and Sam came running up beside me dragging large branches.
"This is going to rule." Sam spoke as he tossed in them in the pile. "So cool to do." He patted my shoulder as he walked away.
The air was getting cooler and the sun was starting to set as I walked over and purchased a beer, Sabastian was standing alone away from others so I moved to him. "So you can't do this in the city?" He asked.
I shook my head. "Some places you can have small fires but unless you have a yard you just can't do this."
"Hmm."
"Watch out." Alex yelled, I turned in time to watch a football hit sab in the back of the head, I chuckled as he grabbed his head.
"Sorry man, got away from me." Alex said.
"It is fine." He always sounds so bored unless he is playing a game or talking about bikes, I picked it up and tossed it at him, he smiled at me before turning back to the girls, Emily and Haley.
It feels great that I got them all here to join me.
Looking around people were in small groups. "Here." Elliott handed me a small garbage bin of crumpled paper.
"Don't you want to save some of these?"
"Nope trash thoughts for the trash can."
"Alright, it's perfect." I smiled. "I will light it when the sun is gone." I watched Clint add some to the pile, it was now larger then me.
I took off my sandals and held them walking to gus, barefoot in the sand is much better. I pulled out some cash and handed it to him as he sat there before he pulled a beer from the cooler.
"Thanks."
"Beer please." Shane's voice weirdly made me happy to hear as I looked back at him with a small smile I could not shake.
"Shane, you came."
He did not look at me as he took the beer and walked off, I frowned again a little annoyed.
Back to this.
Calm down, your not even really friends with him, why do you even care?
"Ahh." I heard and I turned toward the water. "Get it off." Sam yelled as he swung his foot around as a crab hung off of it. "My shoe." I laughed as I ran at him.
Unsure what to do as he spun around screaming, as I tried to grab it but I was nervous to touch the creature.
"Get it off Cy!" He was yelling.
Sabastian was there in a second and he pulled it right off and tossed it into the ocean making me stand up straight. "Well that works." I smiled at him as Sam just squatted inspecting his new white shoe.
"Ah it is alright, good, let's start this thing." And he just walked off like nothing happened with his hands behind his head.
It took a few seconds to get it up and another to get it roaring but soon it was the biggest fire I ever saw as it illuminated the dark beach and I heard a few cheer's as I stepped back and watched it. I saw the orange haired girl, Penny? She was handing out marshmallows to the kids and even a few adult's got in on that action.
I started to walk along the beach as I sipped my beer to make it last, my eye's on Shane who stood alone drinking his beer and staring at the fire when I heard a noise and looked down at Sabastian almost stepping on him.
"Damn you blend in." I said down to him, he was easily faded into the darkness of the night so I just sat down next to him as he also sipped his drink. "This is nice." I said quietly.
We did not really speak as we sat there but it was a peaceful few minutes just watching the fire.
"There you are Sabby, I have been looking for both of you." Abigail yelled from our left.
Sam, Alex and Emily followed her as they came and sat in the sand around us.
"We are going to play truth or dare." She spoke up.
"I have not played that since I was a preteen." I spoke.
"Well you will enjoy it." She spoke proudly.
"I don't know." Sab spoke but the others wanted to also so we gave in.
Some beer cans were piling in the middle of us.
"Sabastian." Alex spoke. "Let the group pose you in an embarrassing position and take a picture."
Abigail and I stood up and started to pose him, his butt was sticking out as he bent forward putting a finger on his mouth. "Okay, look sexy." She said when I gabbed one leg and held it out behind him, he was trying to keep his balance as we all took a picture.
Most of us were laughing, these guys play it right, it is just stupid shit and not so sexual and I really enjoyed it.
Sab's eye's landed on Sam. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare baby." His hands moved to the back of his head as sab glanced around the group.
"Change clothes with... Cy for three rounds." I was startled but it was interesting.
"We may be away but we will be seen, so how?" I asked.
"Ohh." Sam pointed to the cabin.
We walked over to Elliott's cabin and hide behind it. "At least I am wearing stretchy shorts and a baggy top." I am assuming he was not looking at me as I did not look at him, at least I hope so.
His pants were so baggy on me I had to hold onto them but his shirt and sweater was kind of nice and smelled good. "I feel like I am on display." Making me look at him finally and a hard laugh came out as I looked away for a second, yes my shorts and top fit but they were so small like he was wearing tight black boxers and my top sadly did not cover him below like it does for me as he was more wide then I was.
I was finding it so funny I was leaned over with one hand on him as I gripped my shirt that was on him and I just could not stop.
"Stop laughing, I wont be able to go back out there."
"I can't... I just." I almost snorted. "It's just, okay sorry." I tried to get a hold of myself. "You look damn fine, let's go." I said as we walked back to the group, again many pictures were being taken.
Everyone was laughing as hard as I did, it was an image I never want to forgot so I also took a picture.
"Cy." Abigail looked at me, Sam and I just swapped our clothes back.
"Truth."
"Do you have a man back home?" She wiggled her eyebrows.
I shook my head. "Nope no one." She almost seemed heartbroken there was no story and I just moved on.
"Alex." I spoke up as he has not gotten many.
"Dare."
"I dare you to pole dance with an imaginary pole."
"Oh I like it." Sam spoke as he leaned forward.
He got up and started to pretend to slid down it before he turned around and gave a failing twerk back up but it was hilarious to watch as he pretended to spin around it, we were all a little tipsy but not drunk so it was just fun.
But damn he was actually good.
After a few more rounds. "Cy." Abigail spoke. "Punch Alex." She stared at me with a crazy look in her eye but half of us started to say no to that including Alex.
"Well, I am a boxer so no." They looked at me. "Ya, I have taken lessons since I was 16."
"Really? Then please no." He looked at her. "Pick something else." He sounded worried.
She gave a creepy smile and shook her head, so I got on my knees slightly crawling over and lightly hit him in the leg. "There."
"But."
"You did not explain how." I said making her cross her arms and pout.
"Nice." Sam said.
The fire started to get lower as we had made a big pile of cans, we drank so much Gus ran out and now we all just chilled on the beach, some people had left, other's were paired off in groups it was a nice night.
"You ever just think about how many alien worlds are out there?" Sam asked as he was leaning back on his wrists and staring at the cloudless sky.
"Ya." Abigail said as we all looked up.
"I am sure there is many." Sab spoke back "There has to be."
"But they could have diamonds for rain or they could swim in lava." I spoke up making them all make noises, the night was slowing down and I think we were all getting a little sleepy.
"That is stupid." Abi spoke with attitude.
"No she is right." Sab spoke up. "Lightning storms make it rain diamonds on Saturn and Jupiter, it is a thing."
I was almost asleep at my wheel as I drove home from the beer but glad that I made it as I flopped into my bed.
I woke up to a beeping phone as I tried to reach out to the nonexistent nightstand beside my bed for it. I felt around I could not feel it making me open my eye's, right I am not at home I slowly sat up but it stopped.
I stretched before heading into the other room to find it where I left it, unlocking my phone I saw it was around 10 am and a small text from Sabastian said my bike was ready and I should stop by today.
It was to early to care as I moved to brew a pot of coffee, then I just fell over the armrest of my couch and lied there with my feet dangling.
I just started to look at all the pictures from last night. Alex and Emily were pretty cool I should talk to them more, It was a great night.
