I got as many layers as I could but I was sweating as I pulled up to Sabastian's. I wanted to make sure if I fell I had some protection from my bike. I slowly got out of my truck as he walked from his garage carrying two helmets, our bikes just sitting there waiting for us.
"There is this place not far we can ride to." I nodded as I slid my helmet on and wrapped my legs round the powerful machine making me anxiously excited. At least there is no cops around as I don't have a motorcycle license.
It was nice as we drove out of town down a large empty road. The more speed I had the better the control, he stayed near me I assume to make sure I was fine.
We drove for around fifteen minutes when we pulled into a lone dusty roadside restaurant. There was a few cars parked and one other motorcycle.
I stopped to suddenly making me lurch forward but I was fine.
I slid off my helmet as we walked inside. It was a cute place, a few scattered older men and there was a hockey game on a t.v behind the bar. The place was thick with smoke startling me as smoking inside was not legal but I did not mind as I am a smoker.
He took me too a table using the extra seats for our helmets.
This middle aged women in a cute apron came over. "Hey cutie, nice to see you again." She smiled at him. "And who is your adorable friend?" She smiled at me making me smile back. We ordered some drinks and she gave us a menu. When she walked off she gave me a wink and leaned into Sab. "She is cute."
Made me feel like we were on a date of sorts but I am sure it is just friendly.
"If gas was not so expensive I would ride to the city everyday." He finally spoke as he leaned forward. "Any tip's before I move there?"
Leaning back I thought about it. "Make sure you have a place and job before you go and read about your neighborhood well." I looked over as the older man yelled again. "Maybe look for one around in an area called North Park as I live there and it is pretty decent in that section, not a rich area but not a bad one."
He smiled a little. "Thanks, would be nice to have a friend out there." I smiled, ya it would.
It was not long until she brought us our drinks and hinted again we were on a date, I did not say anything and neither did he we kind of just let her be but it made me wonder.
"When are you planning to go?"
He sighed again. "I am trying to save money from programming but life get's in the way."
"Ya, I feel you."
"So I don't have a plan and it will be a while before I can even truly look into it." He leaned forward. "What was your job?"
"Well." I sipped. "I have had a few but I never stick around long and in between crap jobs I would make candles and stuff for money."
"My mom got one of the wooden ones from the store, she is in love with it she wont even light it up."
That made me smile so big. "Why have you not told her of your plans?"
"You know that? She would get mad it would just be better to leave and then deal with her."
"You wont miss her or your friends?"
"Well Sam is my only friend, I tend to be anxious around other people." He gave me a small smile. "However you easy to be around."
I smiled feeling flattered but nervous at the date sounding words. "What about Abigail?"
"She is.. something I don't want to talk about." I don't care to much at what is going on there so I left it alone, town drama, it is not like I am trying to actually date this man.
"I don't know what I will do for a job." He sighed. "Programming only get's so much, do you know how many people try to make me do it for free for exposure."
I just laughed. "Ya, I have gotten them a few time's." I looked at him serious. "But what about bikes." He looked confused. "Fix bikes." His face turned happy making me smile as he seemed to run the idea over.
"Ya." His smile was nice. "That would be something, I don't think about it as I, until now, I am the only one with one in the town."
We ate the food, it would be in complete silence or if I got him to ramble about something he likes he just lit up, well as much as this calm man could.
Mostly comic book's, fantasy novels and video games and he was a cute nerd when I get him talking about these things, he smiled and his voice had emotion, it was rather cute. He was so easy to just be with and even when we did not talk, it was comfertable. I forgot about this feeling like a date until the end when he tried to pay for my meal, I did the whole fight and annoying struggle before we payed for ourselves.
I could not let him pay for me.
The ride back was just amazing, the fear faded and I just felt free. I was slightly sad when we pulled into his place, we barely spoke as he helped me get my bike into the back of the truck.
"That was nice, never did that with someone before." He spoke back to sounding a little more like normal, with his cute calm voice. "Next time I can take you to my favorite spot I ride to."
I opened my truck door. "Can't wait and ya I had a great time, see you later Sabastian." I gave a smile and drove off.
"I think he is in his room." Marnie spoke up, Jojamart was closed today so I came to get him.
I smiled at her and walked towards Shane's door, I feel like I have not seen him in a bit but he has been giving me the cold shoulder. I knocked on the door as it slightly squeaked open but he did not respond.
He was just laying on his bed in the dark with his arm over his face. "Go away."
I held back a sigh as I leaned on the door looking around he had a few beer cans scattered. "What are you doing today?"
"This, fuck off." I had an urge to open his Curtin and make him get up but I just couldn't as it felt to weird. "Just go home and leave me alone."
"There is nothing to do at home, come with me, it just heavily rained and I am going to take my truck and run it through mud and I need at least one more person."
"I did not mean that, I meant go back home to the city and leave me alone." He rolled his back to me.
"Come on, come get all dirty with me."
He was just quiet, I noticed Marnie was down near the kitchen just watching me I just shared a look with her before I asked him once more but he did not move or speak. "Fine, have a nice nap I will talk to you later." I spoke softly.
I shut his door and moved to leave, I will find someone else I just thought he would enjoy it.
She made me pause. "Don't take it to hard." She spoke quietly.
I smiled. "Ah it is fine I will try again some other day, today is not his day." Maybe I should leave him alone, I just wanted to get him slightly out of his rut. The man is so sad.
"And I thought you two were getting along." She just looked at me sadly but also filled with some hope.
I looked at her sadly. "Me too." It's not time to write him off just yet.
I said my goodbye's and when I walked outside I texted Sabastian and Sam to grab Abigail and we can do the next thing on my fuck it list.
I picked up Sam first and we drove to Sabastian's, he came walking out of his home as Sam leaned out the window. "This is going to rule!" He yelled before looking around. "Where is she?"
"She is not coming." Sab spoke as he stepped into the back and he yelled into the small open back window. "I am driving, I don't need to get covered in mud." Sam and I shared a look that screamed 'yes' as both of us wanted to get covered in mud, he gave me a small fist bump and I speed away.
We found a perfect road, there was space to get speed but it was a dirty and unperfect road with many deep piles of mud along it.
"I have never done this before but man I always wanted to." I said loudly.
"Totally." Sam spoke while we got out, I switched places with Sabastian as we rolled up the two side windows but left the back open.
I hoped we wont get stuck but I also don't care that this truck is not made for this. Sam and I got into the back as we sat on the edges with smiles on our faces and just looked at each other.
"Let's do this." Sam yelled.
The truck started to drive forward as he picked up speed, I felt the cold wetness splash over my head making me scream with joy as I heard Sam yell along, the next puddle was so deep I could feel it seep into every part of my clothes down to my underwear.
My eye's were closed as I waited to wipe it off. "Fuck!" I yelled with happiness.
"Awesome!" He yelled back.
He turned around and did it again by the end of the road I used my muddy hand to get it from my eye's before looking at Sam across from me. He was doing the same, covered in mud I just laughed at him as Sabastian came and looked at us.
"You too are soaked."
"Fuck ya." Sam said again as he just laughed.
"Okay I am driving home, you don't need to ruin the inside." Sab joked with a small smile as he just looked us over again shaking his head while we sat into the back safely by the window but I was happy for it.
"You are so fun." Sam spoke. "Getting us to do random shit." I just looked at him, this was awesome. "You have a thick mud mustache." He moved to wipe it off but it just spread more while getting some in my mouth and stared blankly at him as he laughed again. "My bad." I just spit it out of my mouth.
"Being here just kind of brings it out." We watched the tree's as Sab drove quickly down some roads. "Gives me many things I always wanted to try."
The air was getting colder we just laughed in the back. "Let's hit the bar." Sam yelled into the window. "No shower's yet." We shared a smile at walking into town like this. Pulling up near the square and jumped out the back as we walked towards the bar. I got a look at my truck that was so dirty I could not tell it's normal color and Sabastian had some mud over his shoes and pants, we happily walked into the place.
Gus stared as us as his face dropped while we walked to the pool table area, shaking his head at us. The boys set up a game and started to play, was not to long when Emily came over with our normal drinks without us ordering, them a beer and me a new cocktail.
She looked curious but did not ask.
I just watched Sabastian kick Sam's ass at pool like always.
I was laughing so hard at something stupid Sam did when I saw Shane stumbling to his normal spot, he looked our way before ignoring me as he took his seat.
Is this because I turned him down? If not I don't know what I did, it is the only thought in my head and it made me so sad and pissed off.
"Right Cy?" Sam asked he stared at me.
"Huh?"
"Don't you think Abigial is cute?" I looked confused at him, does he like her before he gave me a 'for sab' kind of nod, he told me once he has been trying to get them together as he was so sure he likes her.
"Oh." I smiled. "Ya she is adorable." I took a drink. "She is very, loud and perfect for a quiet guy."
"Stop." Sab spoke looking at me and then at him. "Sam just stop." He spoke in a bored tone as he focused on the game. "I know what you are doing, you are not subtle."
"I know you like her, you wanted her to be our drummer." Sam said to him I know she likes him, there is something about to happen or has happened between them, I don't know them well enough to make them tell me there secret's.
"She is the only decent drummer in town."
"Oh." Sam looked sad.
I really have no idea what he thinks of her and what she thinks of him.
Leaning on the bar I ordered three beers this time, I looked over to Shane with a small smile but he did not look up making me slightly annoyed at what I did.
Robin came into the bar, her eye's landing on me. "I need to find my son." She laughed as she looked at him. "There he is." She leaned into me. "I hear you put the farm up?" Man I can't do anything in secret here can I, before she looked me over and her eye's landed on the guy's. "What on earth did you three do?" She was both motherly and mortified, It just made me smile.
"Ya I did, only a matter of time." I said sadly as Gus placed my drinks in front of me, Shane just stood up startling me as his chair was loud and he walked passed us to the bathroom.
I tried to gather all my drinks in my hands, she stepped closer to me. "He did not stop staring at you and them at the bonfire." I was startled. "I think he wanted to join, maybe you all can be friends he is always alone, it is so sad." She patted me and walked towards Sab. "It's a good thing my son is not as dirty as you or he would not be coming inside my home."
That made me laugh but it also meant he was leaving as she called him to her, we shared a goodbye nod as I slid Sab's beer over to where Shane sits. Gus noticed as he smiled at me and I walked over to Sam.
Sam and I were dropping flaked dry mud all over the floor as we finished the game, he makes me laugh so hard and I tried to not even look at Shane, it was making me mad to be treated like this. I know I am boxer, I should wish to fight but I don't, I hate to fight, both with words and fists.
He was getting drunk as I just drank coffee. I took a sip as Sam moved quickly and knocked it into me as it spilled all down my face and chest. "Aw!" I closed my eye's leaning slightly forward as I waited for the burning to stop.
"Shit I am so sorry." He came at me.
"It is okay, man that was hot." I pulled on my shirt away from my chest trying to air it out, he started grabbed some paper towel that was left nearby. He then patted them into my boobs making me look at him blankly as I waited for him to notice what he was doing.
He made a noise and backed off. "Sorry, I did not realize." I closed my eyes for a second in amusement. "Man, I ruined your shirt." He was almost blushing as he stared at them.
"Sam." He looked up at me from my chest. "I think the mud ruined my shirt, it is fine calm down." I laughed as I used the paper towel and wiped my lower neck and chest.
He just awkwardly smiled before he put his hands behind his head and laughed.
We ordered some burger's and just hung around the bar, farther from Shane then normal when he paused mid bite. "Shit." I looked at him. "I forgot." He stood up and slightly stumbled. "I need to go."
He almost walked away before he turned back and gave me a fist bump and ran off making me chuckle into my burger as I took a bite.
I watched as Gus moved to the back, it was Shane, Emily and a passed out Pam left in the bar.
"So what one or is it both?" Shane's angry voice rang out in the silence, unsure if more then me heard.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I glared at him, that was dark he just stared at his beer before downing it. My face softened and sighed letting it go before I ate a fallen pickle and stood up.
I can't believe he thinks of me like that.
I was going to say there was nothing going on but I it does not matter and I moved to walk away, pulling my sadness with me.
"Cy, wait." Looking over Emily was walking towards me staring at a journal. "I am taking this class and I just can't think." she walked up to me. "What would the world be like if it was filled with male and female copies of you?"
She looked at me. "All I can think is we would make clothes and take care of animals." She sighed.
"Me?" I gave a thought. "The world would end." She looked at me interested.
"That is a smart way to go." She waved her pencil at me. "Why?"
"I don't date, I am lazy and not smart."
She stared at me in wait. "There would be no scientists or doctors, no one would put much effort into anything and I am a commitment-phobe so there would be no family's." Shane shifted in his seat staring at his beer.
"Well, I don't believe that about you but thanks that helped." She walked over to the bar and started writing things down.
"Shane?" She asked, I looked at him, he glanced our way and then looked at the bar.
"Same." I heard Shane say before I was about to turn, shocked he was talking to anyone. "They would all be drunk or dead." I tried not to let that pull at my heart as I am annoyed with him right now.
"Man you two are depressing but that helped." She said as she continued to write stuff. "This will be good, the teacher would be like, who wrote it for you."
"See you." I said as I walked out, the air was getting cooler as I wrapped my arms into my body, I glanced back at the bar before I just headed home.
I have been a whore in my past, maybe he just saw it.
