Issei woke up, having been jolted from his sleep when the bus hit a rather large bump in the road. Next to him, Asia looked up from her book. She had done her hair into a braid today, keeping it out of her eyes as she smiled at him.
"Nice nap?" she asked.
Issei yawned, nodding, "Well, until that bump in the road."
Asia let out a small laugh before hugging him, "Well, better then having something happen like the train we were going to take to Kyoto."
Issei grimaced, remembering the report of the train that ran from Kuoh to Kyoto had violently run itself off the tracks in a freak accident.
The driver was able to come out with only minor injuries, but the train had been wrecked beyond repair. So, Kuoh had to have buses pick up those going to Aiichi Academy for the several week long tournament. The trip took several hours, which allowed Issei some time to rest. Until now, that is.
Looking outside, he saw the trees lessen, but also saw they were surrounded by more buildings then Kuoh had.
Kuoh was nice, but it was a small town. Kyoto was a thriving city, both in and out of the Supernatural world, as Naima and his parents had told him. However, Issei didn't know what Kyoto held in the Supernatural World at all given that he was only a recent addition to it.
"We're going to be pulling up soon." Asia commented, putting a bookmark in the book she stopped reading. "We better get ready to disembark."
Issei only nodded before stretching a bit then grabbing his carry-on bag as the bus came to a stop outside the Private Aiichi Symbiosis Academy - Kuoh Academy's rival.
Asia and Issei stepped off the bus with the rest of their classmates that joined them, including Aika, who spoke up.
"I hope we beat Aiichi this year," The girl said, looking around expectantly, "If not, I'm not sure our school can handle another defeat."
Issei winced, remembering the first year he had been in Kuoh and the defeated looks as Aiichi crushed them in everything. He could easily remember the looks of loathing the Kuoh students had when the Aiichi students left. Now, he was going to enter their territory and put the ball in their court.
"We better head inside," Asia said, pointing to the line of students walking towards the gates, "or we won't know where to go."
Issei followed Aika and Asia as they joined the crowd of Kuoh students while they entered, noticing the rather stark contrast between the schools easily.
One, the rumor about the male students being forced to be more feminine? Totally true, though most had faces of bikers, gang members and others with rougher styles of life, that feminine make-up just added an…well, not to say exclusively repulsive, but just an overall off-putting effect. There was something abhorrently forced about it.
Second, Issei had to admit, most of the girls on the Aiichi campus were packing heat. Collapsable batons in holsters on their hips, these girls looked ready to really cause some damage or extreme bruising.
"Welcome, Kuoh students." An older girl said, standing in front of the whole Kuoh group. "Welcome to Private Aiichi Symbiosis Academy! I am Kuri Amoutaski, I'll be your guide to the residential guest suites and the grounds for the duration of this tournament."
Issei listened closely as Kuri explained the Aiichi history, that it was actually formed forty years ago, which he idly thought was pretty impressive.
However, it only became co-ed recently. Like only six to seven years, unlike Kuoh's twelve years. Though, it was because the newest headmistress of the time wanted to try the new co-ed idea. She got too over her head until she went with the current form of discipline within the school itself, which was still being used today.
Much to most of the student's internal disgust, Kuoh had many more rights than Aiichi allowed. Issei could read some of the expressions on the faces of the Kendo club members, their headmaster allowed for the Perverted Duo to continue their antics because it amused him, but if they went past peeping, they would be expelled and handed over to the police. Of course, the peeping also gave the girls some confidence in their own looks, in some odd fashion.
"I have here your sleeping arrangements," Kuri said after they arrived at the guest suites, "when I call your name, please step forward."
"So what room did you get?" Aika asked after she, Issei and Asia met up once again.
"Room 13-A," Issei said, looking over at Asia, "You too."
Asia nodded, "I asked for permission to stay with you, due to your health concerns. Kuri didn't believe me until I explained the horrible night terrors you get, she looked utterly horrified at the prospect of having those types of nightmares at all. So I got placed with you."
Aika giggled, "Wow, I didn't realize Asia could cause people to believe her by just telling the truth."
Asia looked confused before Issei spoke up, "And your room, Aika?"
"Room 27-C," Aika said, "I got put in with some of the swimming club and Katase and Murayma, so I won't be alone."
Asia smiled then hugged Aika, "See you in class then?"
Aika returned the hug, "Easily, we are sharing the same one since we're all second years."
Issei smiled before following Asia to their assigned building and heading to room 13-A. It was on the second floor and near the stairs themselves, which was pretty easy to access. Upon knocking on the door, Issei blinked in surprise as a white-haired girl opened it.
"Oh," She said, giving him a look, "it's you."
Issei felt like the wind had been punched right out of him at that, only Asia holding him steady as she gave the younger girl a look.
"That wasn't really nice, Koneko," She said, sighing, "we just got here."
Koneko stepped to the side, "I don't really care, as long as he stays away from my side of the room."
"Character assassination," Issei muttered, "I'm not really friends with those two anymore."
Both walked inside and found their beds near the window side of the room, as Akeno walked up and smiled at them. She then kissed Issei on the cheek in greeting then hugged Asia, causing Asia to hug back and Issei to look at her as his cheeks started to flush red with shock and embarrassment.
"Hello you two," Akeno greeted finally, "I see you both made it."
Issei nodded, stunned, while Asia continued the conversation, "Yep, so who else is bunking with us?"
"The rest of the peerage, actually," Akeno said, looking at Koneko, who had closed the door and was now sitting upon her bed, "they're busy getting their luggage as both of yours arrived first. They're going by year, not by alphabetical order."
Issei grimaced, "Well, it could be worse but as of now, we're here."
Koneko nodded, "Indeed, but the tournament doesn't start until tomorrow afternoon. After the first few classes are done with."
Akeno nodded in agreement, "Indeed, the first game will be the swimming clubs tomorrow. Of course, I'm confident our swimming team can beat theirs."
Asia tilted her head, "Isn't there a few guys on the team this year?"
Akeno nodded once more, "Indeed, there is. Older students though, so they'll be in the older categories for the game itself. Though, last year, we had our swimming team cut apart by the girls. It wasn't pretty at all."
Issei nodded, "Like watching sharks toy with seals, it was a bloodbath."
Akeno, Issei and Koneko sighed as that defeat came to mind as Asia looked at him in shock.
"Was the defeat that bad?" She asked, her hands covering her mouth slightly.
"It was way worse," Issei said flatly, "Aiichi has held the title of 'Kyoto Academy Supreme' for nearly eight years now. All of their victories are absolute massacres and televised across the nation, since it also allows for the academy to get new students and funds due to the publicity and coverage."
Asia blinked, "So, the schools get money out of this?"
Akeno nodded, "Even split, so both schools have the money needed to continue running. Though this rivalry is the biggest, it can have other schools, but we're the biggest and most well-known."
Asia nodded, "That makes sense though, what if one of the schools were to close down?"
Akeno shrugged, "I'd suspect the funding would go to Kuoh, mostly."
Issei sat on his bed and flopped upon it, "So, where are our classrooms going to be?"
Akeno pulled out a slip of paper and handed it over, "These are the assigned rooms given to us. It seems that your class is 2-3."
"Well, I guess we head there in the morning," Issei said before rolling his eyes, "Though, I'm sure with my luck, things will go south."
That night in her own personal room, Rin Onigawara was looking over the files of the arrived Kuoh students.
Nono Mozunono brought them in after everyone had gone to their dorms for the night and allowed her some peace and quiet. Well, her quiet was filled with annoyed sounds of frustration. Most notably was the fact that several dozen of the students knew about the Supernatural world, which wasn't a good thing.
Sure, it wasn't like everyone at Aiichi, but it should have been kept quiet.
They had Rias Gremory here with her peerage and the son of Gorou and Miki Hyoudou - Issei and the new 'Hyoudou family member' - Asia Argento.
However, what actually frustrated her the most was Issei Hyoudou. He was associated with Kuoh's 'Perverted Duo' and that wouldn't stand with her. She had a reputation to uphold, after letting Nomura Fudou get away with it before he was expelled by the Aiichi Headmistress.
The Headmistress refused to allow him back into the school, citing that Nomura had not conformed and was wilfully refusing the rules of the school to continue distracting the female population.
Rin was pretty sure that the Headmistress was more upset that someone subverted the system Aiichi had co-ed itself on then those cited, but she couldn't say so. The Headmistress was actually a human, a powerful one at that. Despite how reclusive she was, she had social influence.
Underneath the facade Aiichi had in place, the academy was actually a Demon/Yokai school.
Humans were allowed to attend due to the issue of 'blending in' with the surroundings, which had worked wonderfully. Until the new Headmistress tried to co-ed the school, most of the female students had gotten so paranoid of the males that came in. Over something stupid, which was one of the demons having brought in a dojiin that caused the other girls to think it was real.
This, along with several other incidents involving clueless young demons and yokai females getting taken advantage of in the worst parts of Kyoto, which ruined any hope of the school ever having a proper coexistence like Kuoh had.
Which also caused the female population to panic when the first male students came in, most of them were actually pretty courteous to the girls, but the damage had been done. Over the next few years, things had gone from bad to worse and the girls couldn't even be near a guy without screaming bloody murder over him breathing. So the Headmistress came up with a solution, arm the girls.
Then came the creation of the Five Swords and then the entire correction system.
All in all, a very confused and destructive mess. Rin had come into this later after her schooling in Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage-ryū. She became a 'Supreme Sword of Aiichi' due to it.
Of course, her heritage was that of an Oni Yokai, but she had no horns to show for it because she was only half-Oni. It was why she hid her face behind an Oni mask due to her Mother's disgust in her heritage, though in all honesty it was her mother seeing too much of her father in her, until it was broken by the 'Empress'.
She refocused herself and looked at the file before closing it.
"I will correct him tomorrow," Rin said aloud to herself, "but, I need to get to bed."
The next morning, Issei woke up to watch the sunrise, feeling a slight tightening in his stomach as he watched it. Then he felt someone stand next to him, looking over to find Akeno with him.
"Rather pretty, isn't it?" She asked softly, though he suspected she didn't necessarily want an answer.
Akeno pressed against him and laid her head on his shoulder, as both enjoyed the moment of peace.
As the sun continued to rise, the pair watched it before Issei pulled away to get his supplies to shower and get ready for the day. Akeno looked a bit upset, but soon went over to Asia to wake her up as her class would start earlier than the third years would.
Rather soon, both students were up and heading to their classroom as the sun shone even more brightly, pushing away the shadows of the night.
Issei felt Asia wrap her fingers into his own as they walked towards the academy, her hand trembling a bit from the chill air. Issei squeezed her hand gently before opening the front door, allowing her to step inside as he followed after her. As they went down the hallways, Issei couldn't find much difference in the orientation of classrooms that both schools shared.
"Room 2-3," Asia said, pointing to the sign above the classroom doorway, "We're here."
"I'd prefer if it wasn't so early in the morning though," Issei muttered, hand reaching for the door handle, "it's rather not helpful with my condition."
Asia nodded before Issei opened the door, only to find himself getting pointed at by a rather sharp katana and at least a dozen batons. He blinked before raising his arms, confusion filling his head at the sudden threatening looks these girls were giving him. Had he done something to anger them?
"Issei Hyoudou," The girl with the dark haired bob cut said, one half of her face covered by the remains of an oni mask, "it seems you have finally arrived."
Issei blinked before he noticed how a few of the girls looked him over like he had defiled someone, which caused a flicker of anger to enter his being.
He stepped into the room, causing the girls besides the Oni mask wearing one to flinch back like his very presence hurt them. Issei felt a snarl turn his lips as he glowered at them, the shadow inside him seeming to awaken and take notice of what was happening.
"I don't believe I introduced myself," The girl with the katana said, "I am Rin Onigawara, leader of the Supreme Five Swords here at Aiichi and I am very unimpressed at your file, Mr. Hyoudou."
Issei snorted, "Why is that? If I remember correctly, I did nothing to deserve this treatment in the first place. All I did was show up."
Rin's eyes narrowed, "Oh, and being a part of the group known as the 'Perverted Trio' isn't enough to cause me to see you as a threat to my classmates' chastity?"
Issei's eye twitched, "I was associated with them. And it's just the 'Perverted Duo' now. Also, neither Matsuda nor Motohama are necessarily bad people."
Rin snorted, "My files say otherwise."
"Character assassination," Issei snarled, as the right side of his vision turned crimson red, causing most of the Aiichi students to back up in shock, "I haven't been with them ever since Katase and Murayma, along with Aika, saved my ass from dying of insomnia."
Rin shifted her sword, looking at his face with critical eyes, "Is that so? I don't see the bags under your eyes to back up your claims."
Issei glowered at Rin, "It doesn't matter. I've had some help with my issues, but this is still a set up. Probably someone that was disgruntled at Kuoh screwing with the files, wanting me punished by an overzealous school."
Rin's only visible violet eye narrowed at his statement. "That may or may not be the case, the fact remains: you are still on file as a pervert and I should consider you a threat to this school."
Issei rolled his eyes, "Not like I can have even worse luck, at all."
Rin smirked, "Though, given your file, you won't do much to fight back either. So your correction will be easy."
Issei shook his head, "I'm not going to allow you to 'correct' me, I'm pretty sure I'm protected by the Kuoh-Aiichi bylaws. Sort of the only reason the students don't slaughter each other on their campuses."
Rin's grip on her katana tightened, "I have until the end of the hour to correct you, Hyoudou. So, I would suggest you either leave the school grounds or get corrected."
Issei met the Oni mask girl's hard gaze with his own silent stare. Lips pressed tight, fists clenched, legs tense with anticipation. He wouldn't let this pretentious girl shove him around and 'correct' him, as if he was some naughty brat. Something slithery and snake-like within him hissed at his frustration, egging it on more and more.
Issei's gaze never left the sword at his throat, though it occasionally jumped to other things: the hostile girls surrounding him, the anxious form of Asia and the window framed Rin Onigawara's face like borders of an artistic portrait.
His eyes barely caught the slack movement of a free-falling leaf outside, reddish-yellow - just like the vision in his right eye. He was staring at it quite intently, enough to garner Rin's attention for a split second.
Issei used that cue and dropped, knocking out the legs of the closest girls. Those girls cried out as they fell like pins, a few crashing into Rin, taking her down.
Issei jumped up to the nearest window, giving Asia a look. She looked back at him before nodding, having positioned herself to run in case of this happening.
"Go get Sensei!" Issei snapped before jumping out the window, as Rin slowly got up.
Rin Onigawara got up onto her feet before leaping after the retreating Issei Hyoudou, gripping her Onimaru as she went after him.
He was rather quick for a kid that had deep insomnia problems like he claimed, though she had to have been blind to not see the rather aggressive change that happened when one of his eyes turned red. Something like that wasn't natural and even to her Oni senses, it wasn't from this plane of existence.
"HYOUDOU!" She shouted, landing neatly on her feet as she rushed after him.
"If you want me to be corrected, I'm not going to come like a broken horse!" Issei shouted, leaping from the edge of the rooftop he had landed on and over to the lower roof of the next building over.
Rin gritted her teeth, following him as he leapt from rooftop to rooftop. He was clearly having her work for this, something that prompted flashbacks of another student that had gotten her attention before he had been expelled.
Shoving those memories away, Rin nearly missed the next jump due to her momentary distraction. She had to use some of her Oni strength to leap over and land safely on the other side.
This also gave Issei a few seconds to jump down off a rooftop, gaining a small lead as he rushed across the campus.
Rin, gritting her teeth, forced herself to jump so she landed several feet away from Issei. Upon landing, she grinned as Issei's eyes widened before she swung her sword at him. The opening cut left a rather deep graze upon his left arm and her follow-up swing would have slashed open his chest if he hadn't dodged.
Issei dodged the next few strikes before doing something unexpected. He leapt in and struck her belly with a fist. She doubled over, having not expected that at all, and allowing the boy to rush off as she caught her breath from the strike.
She slowly got up and looked around for him, spotting his shoes as he rounded a corner.
He was heading towards the academy's indoor pool building.
Naima Ima was not a woman to take blackmail lightly, especially from those that were the spawn of demons. Certainly if said demon was a beholder, one of the higher classed demons known by the Supernatural World. The daughter of said demon had tried to blackmail her, the Sekiryuutei, into leaving the dojo that Aiichi used so she couldn't train her Kendo club students.
The girl's name was Satori Tamaba, one of the Supreme Five Swords of Aiichi. The green haired girl had waltzed into the Aiichi dojo while Naima was having it set up for the Kendo Club, looking around with a blank look that would have been alien if Naima didn't have Ddraig warn her in her mind.
[Naima,] Ddraig warned within her mind, causing her to look up and grimace, [that child is a Beholder's spawn. I have never seen a human one before but she may try to pull something, any Beholder would have loved to hoodwink a Dragon out of their gold or treasure.]
Naima walked up to the girl, staring directly into her eyes and asked, "May I help you this morning?"
"You need to clear out, Miss Ima," She said in an airy way, motioning to the other girls, "my group needs training."
Naima glowered at her, "You do realize that I had this dojo given to us by your Headmistress, until the day of the dueling tournament."
Satori shook her head, "No, that isn't right. I don't remember that ever being reported to us, and as a Supreme Sword, I have more control over the school than you do."
Naima shook her head, "I don't know where you got that into your head, but I know that the Headmistress is far more powerful than you and her decisions are final."
Satori then held up a photo and said, "Not if this got in the way."
Naima took it then nearly crushed the photo that she had been given, it was of her younger years when she was a part of another school. It had been a rather nasty accident and the image captured left her in a rather precarious position with an older student at that school, practically laying her body on his. She had a massive wardrobe malfunction, no, it had been a sabotage if she remembered correctly.
Ripped open and then tripped onto her crush, she thought the evidence had been destroyed but it seemed that this little demonic cretin had gotten her hands on it. She took her eyes off the image and glowered at the demon spawn. Fire burned within her belly, wanting to purge the filth before her. Probably what the girl wanted really, given that she had read this little creeps file.
Instead, Naima leaned in and muttered a few choice words in dragonic to her, "Flem Gort'a feht teshrath."
Satori Tamaba backpedaled so quickly that she looked like she was jumping backwards. Her eyes were widening even further as her hair shifted, showing green eyestocks looking at her with horror.
Ddraig was laughing inside her head as Naima pressed her advantage, her eyes flashing in emerald green before she lifted her left arm and let Ddraig flash his green gleam on the top of her hand.
She heard 'Sekiryuutei' being whispered by Satori's entourage, most in fear. Demons and Yokai alike feared the Red Dragon Emperor for his great overwhelming strength and green fire that could even burn souls to ash. Naima then stood up straight and pointed out the dojo door, glowering at Satori.
"Out," She said, "I don't want to see your face near my students again until the tournament."
Satori and her hockey masked group quickly fled in fear before Naima turned back to her students to have them practice their swordsmanship. Naima hadn't seen Asia come in about an hour later, however, Asia was out of breath.
"Sensei!" She cried out, gasping as everyone stopped to look at her.
Naima ran up, followed by Katase and Murayma, "What's wrong, Asia?"
Asia panted, gulping down air before rasping out, "Issei…Issei's been falsely accused and is going to be corrected!"
Naima gently grabbed Asia's shoulders, "By whom, Asia, I need a name."
Asia's chest heaved before she said in a rush, "R-Rin Onigawara! She is chasing Issei right now!"
Naima felt her heart sink before looking at Katase and Murayma, "Get Asia some water and a place to sit."
"What about you, Sensei?" Katase asked, confused.
"I'm going after Issei and Miss Onigawara," She hissed, looking at the trio of young girls, "it seems that Rin Onigawara has forgotten the bylaws that protect both Aiichi and Kuoh students at both academies."
Issei slammed the door behind himself as he panted, feeling the slash down his left arm knit itself shut.
Issei had to admit, Rin had a nasty sword on her. Looking up, he saw the older swimming club members looking at him, only a few of them were guys.
"Issei?" One of the oldest, a young woman named Yuki, asked, "What's going on?"
He grimaced and looked away from her bikini clad body, given that she was the head of the team and that he didn't want to be associated with the Perverted Duo much anymore. He did enjoy the female form, but he would never drop himself to that level of seemed to notice and pulled a swimming robe over herself before Issei heard Rin's footsteps rushing the doors.
He leapt away from the doors as Rin came in and hissed, "Issei Hyoudou, when I get my hands on you…"
The swimming team looked shocked before Yuki shouted, "OI! Why are you going after Issei!?"
"Correctioning him," Rin snapped, "Or trying to."
She brought her sword around again, nearly taking Issei's head off with that swing. Issei had his head blown in before. He did not want it sliced off, having to regrow his head was one time too many. Yuki tried to interfere but Issei got between them, taking the sword to the gut before shoving Yuki back.
"Stay back," He hissed, before kicking Rin away as it pulled the sword out as well, "She's after me, don't get hurt over me, please."
The team looked shocked as he sprinted to the other end of the swimming pool area, wrenched open the doors and rushed out.
Rin was hot on his trail as Yuki called out after him, feeling his wound in his gut repair itself as he sprinted harder. He nearly lost his footing as Rin almost took his leg off with her blade, rolling into a crouching position as Rin stood a meter or so away.
"You have a rather impressive healing factor," She panted before regaining her breath and glowering at him, "but I see a flaw in it."
"And that is?" Issei grunted, glowering at her.
"It only activates a few seconds after the damage is dealt."
That was when she struck, faster then before and Issei, doing his best to twist away, felt a blade go into his right shoulder. The cold blade then cut his arm off, as Rin landed a few feet away.
Turning, Issei grabbed his bleeding shoulder as Rin looked calculatingly at him. His arm was laying on the grass, oozing red blood as he grimaced in pain. Glowering at Rin, who only walked over and looked at him.
"Are you ready to accept your correction?" She asks, pointing her sword's tip at his chin.
Issei growled as his shoulder shook and ripped open, showing off the growing bones as they regenerated back into existence.
Rin took a step back, looking a bit sick as the sounds of repairing bones and flesh filled the space between them. He winced as the new nerves came alive, pain wrenching up into his brain. Then he saw the gauntlet appear, growing out of the end of his elbow.
Rin watched his horrified shock, the gauntlet gleaming in the sun as its crimson eye looked at Rin with a hunger-filled glare. She gripped her sword tighter as Issei stood up and growled at Rin.
"I think," He growled, flexing his regrown clawed fingers, "I'm not one to accept something from a misinformed girl like you."
Rin rushed him, going for the overhead chop. Issei brought his gauntlet up, the clang of metal on scale ringing through the air as Issei shoved the blade away. He continued to defend himself, batting the katana away with his gauntlet as he denied Rin any satisfaction in hurting him again. Issei then went for the leg sweep, causing Rin to pull her leg up so that she looked like a crane.
Issei didn't stop spinning though, whirling around completely and grabbing her leg with his right hand. He then threw her with all his strength, roaring as he ripped his newly regrown shoulder out of its socket. Rin was sent flying, her sword flung out of her hand to stab deeply into the manicured grass as the swordswoman was sent rolling further from her sword.
Issei grabbed his shoulder, gritting his teeth as he blinked away the tears caused by the pain.
"Issei!"
Naima rushed up to see Issei throwing Rin nearly twenty yards away from himself, her sword stabbed into the earth like some ugly tree. Rin rolled to a stop, wheezing as she tried to get up. The PE Teacher finally made her presence known.
"Issei!"
Issei looked up, holding his shoulder. Naima internally winced. Rin must have been at least half-Oni, given what her draconic senses were telling her. Oni were dense creatures, so throwing one was a rather tough move. Issei ripped his shoulder doing it, Naima noticed and was surprised he hadn't passed out from the pain he must be in.
"I see Rin hasn't cut you to ribbons yet." She commented.
"I was armless for a couple second," Issei grunted, head jerking in the direction of his mentioned dismembered limb, "Rin didn't realize how stupidly fast my regeneration is or how fucking painful it is either."
Rin was getting up at this point, starting to crawl towards her sword. Naima intercepted her progress by pressing a foot onto her wrist.
"And where do you think you're going, Miss Onigawara?"
"To correct-" Rin started to say before Naima cut her off.
"To correct no one," She snapped, "Issei Hyoudou is not going to be corrected by you or any of the staff or Supreme Five Swords here. He isn't a pervert and he's not one that molests women."
Rin glowered at her, one of her eyes glowing slightly, "His file said-"
Naima shut her down, "His file clearly was outdated or blacked out to only give you what the person doing the deed wanted you to read! Luckily, I keep more files in my bag so if something like this were to ever happen, I can fix it."
Rin then tried another attempt, "The Aiichi-Kuoh bylaws state, 'In the case of a student being a threat to Aiichi or its students, the Supreme Five Swords can correct his or her behavior-"
"If," Naima said flatly, "a teacher of the school from which the student goes to is not present to deal the appropriate punishment. Really, Miss Onigawara, I would think you would read over your own bylaws more thoroughly before trying to arrange the funeral of one of my students. If you had a problem with Issei Hyoudou, you should have brought it to my attention or one of the other Kuoh staff available for this tournament. What were you thinking exactly?"
Rin looked like she had been slapped at this revelation before looking down at the grass and saying softly, "I wasn't thinking correctly, I was too focused on my duties as a Supreme Five Sword at Aiichi to even realize what I was doing was wrong."
Removing her foot from off of Rin's wrist, Naima walked over to Issei and looked at his shoulder. Seemed the monster in him was refusing to repair this injury at all.
"Let's get you to the nurse's office," Naima said, grabbing Issei's shoulder to keep it in place so it wouldn't move around so much, "I'm sure she'll be able to get it back into place."
"And the torn muscles?"
"The monster in the gear will probably repair them," She sighed, "I'm not in its head.'
In the nurse's office, she had quickly popped Issei's shoulder back into place before telling him no activities for an hour or so while his healing factor repaired his muscles. Given that the nurse was a Dryad, he didn't say anything about her methods or how she knew he had that in him. Issei also got a surprise visit from the Swimming Team/Club leader, Yuki.
She was clearly worried about him and the sword wound he got, though he had no scar of it upon his person. Though he got a kiss on his cheek for saving her from getting hurt, something that caused his cheeks to flush red all over. Then Asia, Katase, Murayma and Aika came in. They had all been worried over him as he had fought Rin, though the rumor mill had finally caught up in the academy.
Though it wasn't really much in the way of rumors, it was mostly facts. Issei had beaten Rin Onigawara just like the former student, Nomura Fudou. Though, it seemed that the students that had seen him throw Rin hadn't seen her disarm him. Must of been the magic blocking the humans eyes, because it seemed that most of the supernatural part of the school knew of his regeneration factor.
Of course, Akeno came over to see him quickly before her next class. Which made his day, then she got to teasing him about the kiss Captain Yuki gave him. Asia looked a bit upset over that but didn't bring it up as she kissed his cheek too. That caused Issei to be tormented by Akeno even more as he covered his face before the Nurse saved him by sending them all out so he could rest.
"Teenage girls," The nurse muttered, "jealous or teasing the one they have affections for endlessly."
Issei looked at her curiously, "Sounds like you know this a lot."
The dryad smirked at him, "I haven't lived for nearly several thousand years to not know that, young man. I was around when the naiads were flirting with the first heroes of old, then the sea princesses and Sea gods and Goddesses of all mythologies. Its a common cycle, one I can't seem to understand why girls at that age want to be giggling over something so stupid as that."
Issei shrugged, "Guess it's something you can understand better than I can, Miss, because I don't have the willpower to face a group of giggling gossipers."
The Nurse chuckled, "Knowing you, Mr Hyoudou, you will be with a rather sized harem if you live long enough. Though, I see that you want to survive the ordeal of whatever is inside you. My advice? Make real bonds with those that want to be with you for good, those bonds do not deteriorate like a mountainside with the raging ocean constantly slamming into it."
Issei nodded before resting his head on the comfortable pillows as the Nurse went to her office after dispensing her advice to him.
Cao Cao walked down the path as he rested the True Longinus across his shoulders, focusing on his surroundings. He normally wouldn't have done this for Ophis, but she had told him that he was needed for this particular recruitment.
He hadn't been told much, other than where he was going, which was stated to be: "where the broken and disfigured now lived".
That hadn't been much to go off of until he realized how accurate it was, as he stepped up to the rather asymmetrical and disfigured looking gates that guarded this realm from the real world.
The gates opened, one sliding sideways and the other opening like a regular door would. Both were silent as they moved, as Cao Cao stepped into the rather disfigured place that was the city.
Everything seemed out of place, broken then put back together, but not in the fully correct manner. It sort of hurt his eyes and insulted his brain at the rather broken appearance this place had. And then he saw the residents.
Every single one of them, from man, to woman, to child, was mutated or disfigured in some horrible fashion. The residents watched him, a being that wasn't torn apart than rebuilt into something more monstrous. Cao Cao felt the Longinus quiver against his shoulders, like it was softly mourning those that had their lives destroyed by it somehow.
He continued walking on, taking in the people. One of the women, he noticed, was fused with a sword of some type. Her body was metallic black with red rubies, her feminine features made sharp where her black metal skin met human flesh. As he watched, one of her hands turned into an ornate void black sword that gave off demonic vibes. That was not something he would wish upon anyone.
Another resident was mutated into a blasphemous arrangement of limbs, heads, mouths and other parts. Each one shifting and changing into another every moment Cao Cao left his eyes upon its hideous form. Pulling his eyes away, Cao Cao marched more purposefully towards the center of the city. Within the center of the city was a massive fortress area, its sharp ramparts and cold walls greeted Cao Cao with frigid warmth.
He pushed the feeling away as he saw the metal gates rise up, allowing him entry. The leader of the Hero Faction walked inside and noticed only one path was lit for himself, leaving the others in utter darkness. Following the provided path, he soon found himself in a large room that had screens with strings of ancient languages scrolling across them. Cao Cao was about to start reading a few of the strings when a voice brought him out of his musings.
"So what does the illustrious leader of the 'Hero Faction' want with me?"
The voice was deep, filled with the tone of someone that was old, but wise and knew things that others did not. Cao Cao turned then noticed a rather plain throne near the back of the room, its metal gleaming in some old forgotten glory. Upon that throne, Cao Cao had to take a double take. Upon it, he had thought some sort of armor had been placed upon it. That was until it had stood up and started walking towards him.
He was pretty sure that he was just imagining things, but his eyes were not deceiving him at this moment. Standing before him was a near seven to eight foot tall being that resembled the being known as Megatron from that kids show, something Prime. Except there were some differences between them that Cao Cao could easily see. The being before him didn't have red or purple eyes, no, he had glowing green eyes that seemed to delve into his own soul.
The cannon that Megatron always had on his right arm was missing, though it could have been hidden away. Cao Cao was not sure but the biggest difference was the symbol on his chest. The symbol was that of a crystalized flame held by a black spiked crown, which gave him the chills looking at it.
"I have come on the Ouroboros Dragon's account. It seeks your aid." Cao Cao said, giving the metal being another look over, "Though I don't know why it wants the broken ends of the spectrum to be a part of the Khaos Brigade."
The metal giant laughed, his rich voice growing even more sinister as he turned his now flaming orange red eyes onto Cao Cao before they returned to their glowing green. His knife-like metal teeth were seen as he gave Cao Cao a small grin.
"I see that your petty views haven't changed much since my last report on you, Cao Cao. Ancestor of the original Cao Cao, Vanguard of Indra. Wielder of the True Longinus, the spear that pierced the heart of Jesus Christ upon Calgary."
Cao Cao felt his skin crawl as this information was laid bare before him, the giant moving over to one of the monitors to read a new string of symbols. His metal arms were behind his back as he looked at the symbols before he continued speaking.
"I know of many things," He said, not even glancing back at Cao Cao, "Including what you have been making under the many noses of the Supernatural World. Don't think I'm so out of touch with the world I formerly grew up in that I wouldn't know what was going on."
Cao Cao frowned as the being turned and looked at him, eyes narrowing.
"I was formerly a gladiator," He said, stating facts as one would easily speak about the weather, "under the Roman Empire. I was given the title Megatronius Primaris by the crowds that I fought to entertain, until the day I activated my Sacred Gear."
He sneered and turned away once more, "The day I awoke it, I had finished off my opponents. Both lay dead at my feet until a light covered my chest, my body changing from flesh and bone to metal and steel. In front of everyone, I became what you see now. However, I also learned why I became this soulless suit of living armor."
Cao Cao's frown deepened even further as Megatronius turned to look at him once more. He was starting to feel rather inadequate before this being, though he didn't know why exactly he was feeling that way in the first place.
"As my later investigations concluded," He continued, "My Sacred Gear and thousands of other gears like it simply…broke. Destroying themselves over the death of God himself, horrifically transforming the hosts into monsters, freaks and other horrendous mutations that humanity sought to wipe off the face of the earth we all call home."
Megatronius's sneer only got bigger as he marched past Cao Cao and pressed a button, causing a hologram to appear before the human. It was that of the planet Earth, but it was covered in hundreds of thousands of little lights.
"All these," Megatronius said, motioning to the lights, "Are those that have broken gears. Everyone is brought here, given a new life and purpose for living. I led them as I was the first one to realize what had to be done to save my brothers and sisters from a painful life of misery and torment by their own kind. Human, Demigods, Halflings, Dragons, Heroes, Villains, it all means nothing here."
He then looked at Cao Cao, "But, if Ophis wants my faction, then we will join for our own needs."
Cao Cao blinked, "Which are?"
"None of your concern, Cao Cao," He waved him off, as the hologram vanished, "You tell Ophis that it has its new faction, the Broken Guild Faction. But if it expects us to throw our own lives away like toys, I would like to remind it that it isn't recruiting just for itself. Everyone has a price, need or value they desire."
He then leaned in close to Cao Cao's face, whispering the last bit in a hiss, "Even you do, Cao Cao."
