Narrator: The City of Townsville, is Quite at bedtime huh what is Happening at the Powerpuff girls House" it look dark let cheek in on theme"
Buttercup All I see are flashes of light in the darkness. I feel almost numb, a dull ache throbs in my head. I don't know if I am dreaming or awake. I force my eyes to open. I can see the ceiling of a room. I recognize it as the ceiling of the medical recovery room in my home, I have seen it often enough. Then I see the Professor's face hovering over mine. He is moving his mouth but I hear nothing at first, then slowly my hearing starts to focus on the sounds around me.
Professor said "...you're going to be all right."
Buttercup I try to open my mouth to speak but all I can manage is a cough.
Professor said "Don't try to talk Buttercup. You've been through a lot."
Buttercup I do not understand what he is saying. Why am I in the medical room? Why can't I move or talk? Why does my body have no feeling? My mind spins with confusion. Then Blossom's face comes into view. She has a look of concern on her face, yet she seems so stoic. I almost laugh at myself for remembering one of the words she has taught me.
Blossom said "Everything is going to be fine Buttercup, just rest and heal."
Buttercup Then Bubbles appears in my sight. I can see from her eyes she has been crying. Her trembling hands hold a bunch of flowers.
Bubbles said "Oh Buttercup, it's so good to see you getting better."
Buttercup I don't understand, what has happened to me? Why am I like this? I try to sit up but the Professor gently holds me down on the bed.
Professor said "Don't move Buttercup, stay still." please
Buttercup In frustration, I try to make them understand me, so I attempt to talk again. I open my mouth and all I can hear is a gasp escape my throat. With an eerie gurgle I ask: "What happened?"
Blossom said "Buttercup, don't you remember what happened to you?"
Buttercup I slightly move my head side to side. The Professor cradles my face in his hands.
Professor sight "I think you're strong enough to know honey, we almost lost you." more then once
Buttercup I try to understand. I almost DIED?
Blossom said "Do you remember the mission we were on?"
Buttercup I shake my head no again.
Blossom said "It was a really tough one. But it's a little complicated to tell you about it now. Why doesn't she remember Professor?"
Professor said "Slight amnesia caused by the injury to her head."
Bubbles said "Oh Buttercup, you saved our lives. And you almost lost yours."
Buttercup Tears run down her cheeks. If anything my heart goes out to my sister Bubbles. She is the sunshine of our family and I hate to see her sad. I try to talk again though it comes out like a croak: "Bubbles"
She moves closer and I purse my lips making a kissing sound. She smiles and leans close to kiss my cheek.
I look at the Professor.
Professor said "I guess you want to know how serious your injuries are?"
Buttercup I nod my head slightly.
Professor said "Well you have several serious fractures of your arms and legs. Broken ribs, skull fracture, some hemorrhaging, internal injuries to vital organs, concussion, and one of your broken ribs punctured a lung."
Buttercup I blink at his almost matter-of-fact reciting of my injuries.
Professor -said "Your heart stopped a few times and I had to restart it. Your blood pressure dropped dangerously low but your sisters provided enough of their own to give you a transfusion and stabilize you. Overall you had a rough few days. You've been in a coma all that time. You're not feeling any pain because I got you heavily drugged."
Buttercup I felt Blossom strokes her hand through my hair.
Blossom said "You're fine now and getting better everyday. Soon you'll be kicking butt again with us."
Buttercup It all sinks into me. All that I have been through and experienced. I close my eyes and cry.
Professor said "Buttercup, are you feeling all right?"
Buttercup I open my teary eyes and try to smile at my family. I gasp: "Yes, thank you." My eyes grow heavier. I can't keep them open any longer.
Professor said "Rest honey, don't worry about anything."
Buttercup Again I sink into blackness. I don't have any dreams. I guess the drugs are messing with my mind. It doesn't matter if I don't dream. I kind of like the comforting blackness. Like a warm blanket over my head. My eyes open again, I don't know how long I have been asleep. I see Bubbles coloring pictures on the little table next to my bed. "Bubbles"
Bubbles said "Oh, you're awake! How do you feel?"
Buttercup said "Hungry"
Bubbles said "That's a good sign. I'll get you something."
Buttercup She leaves the room. I'm getting kind of bored with this medical room. I hope to get well enough to be moved back into my own bed. I like looking out the windows and see the birds fly by. No windows here since the room in underground. Blossom comes into the room and sits by my bed.
Blossom said "You're looking good. Bubbles went to get you something to fill your empty belly."
Buttercup I can tell she is straining to smile despite my condition.
Buttercup said "Bloss..."?
Blossom said "You don't have to talk Buttercup, we'll take care of everything."
Buttercup said 'ho Ho "How many days"
Blossom said "It's going on five days. Getting bored already?"
Buttercup I try to smile. A painful twinge lances through my body and I gasp. I don't know if it's my stomach or something else.
Blossom said "Are you okay?"
Buttercup said "Hurt"
Blossom - said "I'll tell the Professor you may need more painkillers."
Buttercup I hear Bubbles enter the room. She carries a tall glass with a straw on a tray.
Bubbles said "The Professor says you can't have any solid food yet so I made you a chocolate milkshake."
Blossom holds my head up as Bubbles puts the straw to my lips. As I suck down the cool liquid my throat seems to come alive. Like it has been starving for something wet for so long. I see the Professor come into the room.
Professor said "It's good to see her appetite returning. The sugar in that milkshake should help her recuperative powers heal her body."
Blossom said "She's says she's feeling a little pain."
Professor said "It's time to drug her up some more then."
Buttercup I watch him prepare a needle with a drug. I don't even notice it when he injects me. I do notice for the first time all the tubes and wires coming out of my body. I feel like a laboratory experiment. The drugs make me sleepy again and I just close my eyes. I wake up again when I hear whispering voices. I see through my blurry eyes some people in the room. I finally focus and see Blossom and Ms. Keane.
Blossom said "She's waking up now. Buttercup, you have a visitor."
Ms. Keane said "Buttercup, I know you can't say much, I just wanted to show you that your classmates miss you."
She steps back and unrolls a long piece of paper with everybody's name and get well wishes on it. It's done with crayons and pasted pieces of colored paper. I feel my heart become warm in my chest. I must be smiling like a loon because Ms. Keane smiles back and wipes a tear from her eye.
Buttercup It's been seven days and I can finally sit up in bed. Most of the tubes and wires have been removed. My family waits on me hand and foot. I can eat solid food again and the first thing I asked for was a hamburger. Eating it was like eating a fancy meal, I loved it. I sit here, looking at the bandages covering my body, feeling a little woozy from all the drugs. A big piece of paper taped to the far wall with the names of all my friends from school keeps me from being bored in this room. I feel on top of the world.
