Me: Just to be clear, I am not excusing Mineta's canon actions in the slightest. I won't brush off the red flags, but I also feel it'd be too harsh to just kill/throw him off. He's still young and may get better as he stays in U.A., and I don't have to like him to say that. Most fics just depict him as even worse than scum, so I wanted a bit of a change here. Also, please remember that some information about the wings vary because of the different outlooks and analysis of each person. The truth will be revealed later on. Some manga spoilers may be hinted last chapter, but don't worry, this story will only cover until the third season. Spoilers are merely implied and can only be seen if you know what you're looking for.

Normal POV!
He didn't really notice anything off about Midoriya until a group of villains ambushed them at the USJ, only noticing the boy when they were warped into the Shipwreck zone. Once Minoru finally got to notice his male classmate, it… is unnerving to see black wings like that, especially when they hover over you like some sort of invisible deathtrap.
From the moment he was born, Minoru knew he was special. Well, to others he may be labeled as strange and possibly crazy, but Minoru considers his ability a win for himself because it allows him to see things that normal people can't see.
Wings, for Minoru, are some sort of reflection of the soul. His wings, a pretty mulberry with magenta linings, span for four and a half feet. Wings don't grow with a person's body. The size of it remains the same even when a person grows taller. Compared to his family, his classmates, and everyone he's met outside, his wings were the biggest and the most beautiful one color-wise. When he realizes this, Minoru just knows he's destined for more.
He does no wrong.
Okay, maybe he's gotten a few slaps here and there and a lot of scoldings for his inappropriate behavior — but he's a growing boy! It's perfectly normal to react that way during puberty… alright, he knows it's disgusting, but it's a part of himself! The more pleasant his mood is, the stickier his quirk is, making it more useful and girls are the only thing he could think of that will get him in a good mood. So, he's a little flawed… but he'll change for the better. His wings said so!
When he entered U.A., he was a bit disappointed to find that his wings were the smallest in comparison to his classmates. Still, his wings are still the best (although a little girly)! His classmates may not like him now, but they'll see.
Or so he thinks.
Looking at the enormous wings partially covering him and Asui, he wonders if the colors really meant anything. What are villains, when there is Midoriya, who is possibly more evil than he looks?
Vaguely, Minoru recalls that Midoriya is the same student who was once voted for class president. He wonders why he didn't notice then. He's close with Iida and Uraraka, and Minoru may have been his friend too if it weren't for the wings.
Still, looking at the determined expression on the boy's face, Minoru has no choice but to trust in him. His life is on the line, and Midoriya is their only hope at escaping the villains right now. If he ever decides to show his true colors, Minoru will stop him. Is that what the wings mean for him?
The wings, it turned out, was the least of his problems the moment they see their teacher getting pummeled by a giant monster. This, Minoru decides, is worse.
The monster had no wings.
And the teal-haired villain, the one that seems to be the ringleader of the attack, has wings even more terrifying than his classmates. Nearly ten feet in size, only one shade away from Midoriya's black, and broken in different places — Minoru doesn't know what that means.
All he knows is that they are in a fucked up situation and maybe Midoriya wasn't the worst person in the area.
The mist guy shows up, and Minoru eyes the lack of wings on the villain. He converses with the leader, before red eyes land on them. He points at them, and the monster is onto them in an instant. Minoru panics, thinking he'll be watching his classmate die before his eyes, before following soon after, but then there's a lull.
His sensei saves them, then Midoriya attacks.
He retrieves their teacher, and then green eyes turn to him and Asui as the other boy instructs them to leave, to take their teacher somewhere safer. Minoru follows Asui's lead, too lost in the chaos to get his wits together. He watches his classmate leave, running to face the villain head-on, as if he didn't just walk to his death.
Minoru shakes his head, tugging with all his might to help Asui carry off their teacher farther from the fight. Midoriya is a good guy, it turns out. But Minoru will think about the wings and what they mean later. Right now, the least he can do is help save their teacher and make the time Midoriya bought them worth it.
Turns out, Minoru can do wrong after all.
