54. Chapter 54

"The Nemesis Effect" -

Just to make things clear when you see this you know what to expect

Narrator

The city of Townsville has been quiet for the past few days and the Powerpuff Girls are getting restless as they patrol the skies over the city together.

Blossom said "Well girls, any reason to patrol around the city one more time?"

Buttercup said "No, I'm getting tired of going after petty thieves when the cops could be doing that. We should be going after the bigger fish."

Blossom said "Well most of the bigger fish have been penned up in prison for a while and no monsters have come over to cause trouble."

Bubbles said "I like how quiet it is."

Buttercup - said "We could take a break, drop by the city park and take it easy."

Blossom said "Sounds like a good idea as any. We'll just be on guard in case anything happens."

Cut to The Powerpuff Girls fly to Townsville's central park and settle in the shade of some trees near a small lake. Buttercup lays down on the cool grass.

Buttercup said "Ah, now this is more like it."

Bubbles - said "Ooh, I want to feed the ducks in the lake." She runs off to buy bread crumbs from a nearby vendor. as Blossom sits down on the grass next to Buttercup.

Blossom said "I guess we do deserve a break."

Buttercup said "Well duh, we work our buns off keeping this city safe."

Blossom said "Yeah, all our efforts are finally paying off. There is more quiet time between trouble. But wouldn't you get bored not having to fight crime all the time?"

Buttercup said "Well I would miss the fun of kicking butt but life is not just the fight against evil. It is savoring the good things, taking the time to stop and smell the roses, and appreciate the simple pleasures we cultivate."

Blossom said "Buttercup! I didn't realize you had such a poetic soul." Buttercup grins mischievously at her.

Buttercup said "Psyched!"

Blossom said "What tha'?!"

Buttercup laught "Ha ha ha, I had you fooled."

Blossom said "Oh you!" She pulls up a hand full of grass and sprinkles it over Buttercup's face making her sputter.

Buttercup said "Yuck, cut that out!"

Blossom laugh "Heh heh heh."

Bubbles runs back with a small bag of bread crumbs and throws a few in the lake near some ducks.

Bubbles - said "Here duckie duckie duckie, have some crumbs." Suddenly a whole swarm of ducks rise out of the lake and jump on Bubbles, going for the entire bag in her hands.

Bubbles said "Eeeee, no! Stay back you silly ducks. Wait your turn! Eeeeeee!" Then the ducks are gone, the bag is empty, and Bubbles sitting on the ground looking disheveled with duck feathers in her hair.

Bubbles cry "Waaah! Mean greedy duckies!"

Buttercup said "That was the weirdest thing I ever saw."

Blossom said "Really."

Narrator Suddenly the peace of the day is broken by a muffled rumble. The girls all turn in the direction of the noise and see Mojo Jojo's lair on top of the extinct volcano in the center of the park.

Blossom said "Mojo Jojo is up to something!"

Buttercup said jumping up) "All right! Action at last!"

The dome on top of Mojo's observatory lair splits open and smoke rises from the opening. Then with a deafening roar a long sleek rocket shoots from the lair into the sky trailing thick smoke.

Blossom said "Mojo's launched a missile! Let's go, he's probably going to destroy Townsville with it!"

Narrator The Powerpuff Girls take off after the rocket as it climbs higher and higher into the sky. With grim determination the girls struggle to catch up to the missile as it soon reaches the upper atmosphere.

Buttercup said "How high is that thing going to go?"

Blossom said "It doesn't look like it's going to turn around."

When they reach the edge of space the Powerpuff Girls slow down as the air thins out.

Buttercup "Gasp, where is that thing going? The moon?"

Narrator

Soon the girls stop as they get short of breath. The rocket keeps going and going into deep space.

Blossom said "This is not like Mojo, why would he launch a deep space probe?"

Buttercup said "We better head back."

Bubbles - said "Yeah, I'm getting light headed."

Narrator As the girls return to Townsville Blossom is looking serious.

Blossom said "Mojo is up to something. And the best way to find out is to pay him a visit."

Buttercup said "Can we rough him up to get information out of him?"

Blossom said "Only if he doesn't want to cooperate you can have a crack at him."

Buttercup said "Cool!"

They zoom toward Mojo's lair, ready for anything as they enter through the open dome. It is eerily quiet as they maintain their fighting stance.

Blossom said "Mojo Jojo, show yourself!"

Narrator When there is no answer they search the entire place top to bottom. They look in his kitchen.

Blossom - said "Yuck, he left dirty dishes in the sink."

Narrator They look in his bathroom.

Bubbles said "I wonder if he has problems with hair in his drain?"

Narrator They look in his game room.

Buttercup said "Cool, he's got a PacMan machine. I wonder where he stole this from?"

Blossom said "Buttercup, we don't have time to stop and play!"

Buttercup said "Rats!"

Narrator But the evil monkey is nowhere to be found. The girls gather under the open dome.

Blossom said "I don't get it. Usually Mojo is around to gloat over his latest scheme. But he's not here."

Buttercup said "Dang it! I was ready to kick some monkey butt too!" She slams her fist on a console and a video screen over it comes to life. Mojo's face leers a them in full color.

Mojo Jojo laugh "Buwah ha ha ha ha ha!"

Blossom said "It's a video recording!"

Mojo Jojo said "I will have to surmise that the super hero brats are seeing this. Well I am not home, instead I am far from here about to execute my most devious plan yet. And I bet you girls want to know what that is, do you not?"

Bubbles said "He knows us too well."

Mojo Jojo said "Well I am not going to tell you. Buwah ha ha ha ha ha!"

Buttercup said "What! If I had you were here you monkey you would be laughing out of the other side of your face!"

Mojo Jojo said "All I am going to say is soon you and all of Townsville will meet the same fate as the dinosaurs. Buwah ha ha ha ha ha!" Then the video screen goes blank.

Bubbles said "What does he mean, Blossom?"

Blossom said "I have a feeling the reason we can't find him is he is not on this world. That wasn't a missile we saw launched but a space ship with Mojo Jojo in it."

Bubbles said "What reason he has to go into space?"

Buttercup said "It has something to do with that dinosaur reference."

Blossom said "We better get that tape to the Professor. I'm getting a bad feeling about this." come on girls"

Narrator Soon at the Utonium home the Professor watches the tape as the girls wait for his reaction. When it finishes he turns to them with a grim look.

Professor said "I think I know what he means. He's referring to one of the theories of what caused the extinction of the dinosaurs."

Blossom said "A theory?"

Professor said "The massive and quick extinction of prehistoric beasts has brought out several theories by many scientists. The most prominent is that a giant asteroid crashed into the Earth. The resulting dust cloud kicked up blanked out the sun for weeks on end. Plant life died, which was the main food staple of many dinosaurs. It also cooled the planet creating another ice age. One theory is a rogue planet called Nemesis caused the asteroid to veer toward Earth by passing near with it's gravitational pull. Which it is why its called the 'Nemesis Effect'."

Buttercup said "Mojo would have to go too far to find a planet to make that happen. It would take him months or even years."

Professor said "He would only have to find an asteroid large enough and he wouldn't have to go far. There is the asteroid belt in an orbit between Earth and Mars. It's been thought it was once a planet that was destroyed in a cosmic collision."

Blossom said "So Mojo is more than likely heading there to find an asteroid big enough to send hurtling at Townsville."

Professor said "It wouldn't take a very big one and he could wipe out the city with it."

Blossom said "Right, we got to get after Mojo and stop him from steering a big space rock at our city. Let's get our space suits."

Professor said "You'll have to wait until I can retrofit them for deep space travel. With your help we should get you ready by tonight." And so working around the clock the family races to prevent a possible disaster.

Professor Said "We don't have a lot of time to reinforce your suits so be careful about getting holes in them. I bonded some Kevlar patches to the inside of the major parts to lessen any penetrations from meteors and prevent air leaks."

Blossom said "Are these extra air tanks going to be enough?"

Professor said "I've added oxygen regenerators so you should have several days worth of air. Enough to get you there, put an end to Mojo's plans and get you back." Buttercup puts on her modified suit.

Buttercup said "Hey, what are these tubes sticking in my face?"

Professor said "The one on your left is a water supply. Don't drink it all up, try to conserve it. The tubes on your left is your food supply. Just press on the side of your suit and you can feel the plastic bottles there, squeeze them to make the food come out. One is for peanut butter, the other tubes are mashed potatoes and cream cheese. They will provide you with all the protein and carbohydrates you will need for a few days."

Buttercup said "I got enough room to stick some beef jerky strips in the front of my suit so I can reach it with my mouth. Can I do that?"

Professor said "As long as it does not create crumbs I don't see any problem with it. You wouldn't want to have your helmet filled with floating food particles."

Blossom said "We're trying to stop Mojo from destroying our city and all you can think about is food, Buttercup."

Bubbles Giggle "Hee hee hee, if the moon was made of green cheese Buttercup would probably eat it all."

Buttercup Laught mockingly) "HAAA HAAA."

Soon the Professor suits up the all girls in their space suits. He checks the extra air tanks to make sure they are fully charged.

Professor said "I want you girls to be extra careful. This is a very risky mission."

Blossom said "I know Professor, we will, don't worry."

Professor said "I can't help but worry about you."

He gives her a hug before snapping the helmet over Blossom's head. The Professor makes sure everything is right and their helmets on tight before leading them out onto the front lawn.

Blossom said "Communicator check."

Bubbles - said "Check."

Buttercup said "Roger wilco and all that stuff."

Blossom said "A simple check will do, Buttercup."

Buttercup said "Well duh, how will we know how to find Mojo out there."

Professor said "Press that button on your wrist. That will turn on a heads-up display which will project navigation information on the inside of your helmets."

Buttercup said "Cool, like a video game."

Blossom said "And we just track him with the radar sensors. This is great Professor."

Professor said "Best of luck and do your job well girls."

Blossom said "Don't worry Professor, we know how to do our job. You girls ready?"

Buttercup and Bubbles said "Yes!"

Blossom said "Let's roll!"

Narrator The Powerpuff Girls all take off in formation toward the stars. Within minutes, because of their super speed, they are soon nothing but twinkling specks in the night sky. The Professor takes out his pipe and chews on the mouthpiece as he watches the Powerpuff Girls disappear in the distance.

Professor said "I'm not normally a religious man, but all I can say is...God speed, girls."

Narrator

The deep black inkiness of space is quiet. Buttercup can hear her own steady breathing as she slowly awakens from a deep sleep.

She is resting while hanging on to Blossom's arm as they fly through deep space. When her eyes flutter open she takes a sip of water inside her suit to quench the slight dryness of her throat. She looks out at the distant field of stars in front of her. Then she looks to her right at Blossom who is studying the radar readouts projected inside her helmet. Beyond Blossom, hanging to her other arm, is Bubbles who is still fast asleep.

Buttercup said "Hey, Leader Girl, is it my turn to take over yet?"

Blossom said "Yeah, I guess so. I'm feeling tired anyway. Set your bearings on your display to one-nine-five-three."

Buttercup said "Got it."

Narrator

She follows the directions in her radar display as Blossom yawns and starts to doze off. Buttercup bends her head down and grabs with her teeth a strip of beef jerky she had stuffed down the front of her space suit. Biting off a piece she chews it and looks ahead as she takes over leading her sisters through space. All three of them linked by the arms to keep them together as they travel the dark void.

Buttercup looks off to the left and sees the Earth's moon in the distance behind them. It is a small bright dot by now since they had passed it a day ago. Flying almost non-stop for 24 hours was tiring to the super-powered girls and they rested in shifts as one did the guiding and the others slept. As Buttercup mused about the silent expanse around them she saw several glittering lights ahead of her. They grew bigger and bigger until...

Buttercup said "YIKES!"

She veers off to the side taking her sisters with her as a stream of meteors passes close by them heading in the other direction. The quick maneuver awakens her sisters.

Blossom said "Wha'! What's going on?"

Bubbles said "Mmmm, are we there yet?"

Buttercup said "Sorry girls, had to dodge a small bunch of meteors. Funny that my radar screen didn't pick them up. I saw them coming before they had a chance to hit us."

Blossom said "They must have been made of some material that the radar can't pick up. Good going Buttercup."

Bubbles said "I'm hungry. I'm going to eat."

Blossom said "Well with our lives in your capable hands Buttercup and you awake I can get some sleep."

Buttercup said "No problem Leader Girl, get some rest."

Bubbles presses on the side of her space suit to make peanut butter come out of the food tube next to her mouth.

Bubbles sound "Slurp! Slurp! Slurp!"

Buttercup said "Geez, Bubbles! You have to be so loud sucking up that peanut butter?"

Bubbles said "Well I do prefer my peanut butter with crackers, why didn't the Professor put some in my suit?"

Buttercup said "Your helmet would have filled up with crumbs in no time."

Bubbles said "Anyway, Blossom doesn't seem to mind my noise."

They both see Blossom is fast asleep in her space suit.

Buttercup said "She probably turned off her communicator so she wouldn't be disturbed by your singing."

Bubbles said "I've got a beautiful voice, I..."

Buttercup said "Wait! I've got something on my radar screen."

Bubbles said "What is it?"

Buttercup said "It looks like a large object several hundred miles ahead of us with a heat trail signature. A space ship. I bet you it's Mojo Jojo."

Bubbles said "Should we wake up Blossom?"

Buttercup - said "No, let her rest a little while longer. It will be several hours before we catch up to him anyway."

Bubbles sound "Slurp! Slurp! Slurp!"

Buttercup said "Bubbles!"

Bubbles said what "I'm still hungry."

Buttercup said oh "That's it, I'm turning off my communicator too!"

Now with just the sound of her own breathing in her helmet Buttercup concentrates on the radar blip that is Mojo Jojo's ship. After an hour passes she can almost make out a shiny object still some distance ahead of them. Buttercup looks over at her sisters. Blossom is still in a deep sleep while Bubbles herself has gone back to sleep, her lips smeared with peanut butter. Buttercup shakes Blossom's arms until she wakes up and turns on her communicator.

Blossom said "What's up?"

Buttercup said "Looks like Mojo Jojo dead ahead. I picked him up on the radar an hour ago."

Blossom said "Why didn't you wake me then?"

Buttercup said "You looked like you needed sleep, Leader Girl. We need you rested and alert when we take on that monkey."

Blossom said "You're right, thanks."

Blossom shakes Bubbles' arm.

Bubbles said "Mmmm, are we there yet?"

Blossom said "Almost Bubbles. You better clean your mouth."

Bubbles said "How do I do that inside this helmet?"

Blossom said "There's a cloth pad attached to the inside of your helmet next to your water tube."

Bubbles said "Oh there it is."

Buttercup said "Look at that up ahead."

They can all see a large number of white objects of varying sizes in a staggered row which cuts across their field of vision.

Blossom said "That must be the asteroid field Mojo is heading for."

Buttercup said "Dang! I lost Mojo's ship on my radar screen. Those asteroids must be interfering."

Blossom said "We'll have to find him visually."

Bubbles sound "Slurp! Slurp! Slurp!"

Buttercup said "Are you still eating?"

Bubbles said "I'm still hungry. Besides this peanut butter is so good."

Buttercup said "Deep space must build up her appetite. How are we going to look for Mojo's ship?"

Blossom said "It's obvious he's looking for the biggest asteroid to send crashing into Townsville. So we look for the biggest one. Stay together."

Still linked by their arms the girls follow the path of asteroids weaving in and out among the rocks that tumble slowly through space. When they spot a big one they circle it looking for evidence of Mojo's visit.

Bubbles said "That one is as big as Pokey Oaks Kindergarten."

Blossom said "Still not big enough. Most of it would burn up in the atmosphere."

Buttercup said "Holy smokes! Look at the size of that one!"

Narrator They all look to where Buttercup is pointing and see an asteroid that is almost the size of a small moon. It's rough surface is pockmarked with craters and crevices.

Blossom said "That is one of the best candidates I have seen yet."

As they approach the planetoid they find it even bigger than they first saw it.

Buttercup said "Dang, it's big!"

Blossom said "Space must distort our visual perceptions some. Maybe we should split up and explore the surface for Mojo's ship."

Buttercup said "Okay, I'm going this way."

Blossom said "Bubbles, you go that way. Keep in radio contact, especially if you get into trouble. If you find Mojo's ship let the rest of us know. Don't tackle him yourself."

Bubbles said "Okay Blossom."

Narrator The girls split up and head in opposite directions floating a few feet above the rugged surface of the asteroid.

Blossom uses the scanners built into her space suit to analyze the material the asteroid is made of.

Blossom said "Hmmm, mostly iron and rock. Won't burn up too much when it hits our atmosphere. This is the kind of asteroid Mojo would want. My guess is he would be on the side away from Earth so he can push it with his rocket.

" And certainly enough, when she ventures into the darker side of the space rock, she sees a tall silvery object jutting out from the surface. Getting closer she can see it is a space ship. She hides behind an outcrop of rock. She sees no signs that she has been spotted so she decides to radio Buttercup.

Blossom said "Blossom to Buttercup, Blossom to Buttercup, over?"

Buttercup said "Hey Leader Girl, I was just about to radio you. I think I found Mojo's ship."

Blossom said "So have I, where are you?"

Buttercup said "I'm in a crater on the dark side of this asteroid."

Blossom looks out beyond the ship and sees a large hole in the ground in the distance.

Blossom said "I think I see where you are. Stay put, I'll join you."

Narrator Making a wide circle around the ship Blossom stays in the shadows and hidden among the rocks as she makes her way to the crater. When she gets there she finds Buttercup sitting under the lip of the crater eating a snack in her helmet. Buttercup waves at her.

Buttercup said "Hey Leader Girl. Bubbles was right, this is good peanut butter."

Blossom said "Any sign of Mojo?"

Buttercup peeks over the edge of the crater at the ship.

Buttercup - said "Not since I got here. His portholes are dark. Maybe he's asleep."

Blossom said "This would be a good time to sneak up on him. I better radio Bubbles and get her here. Blossom to Bubbles, Blossom to Bubbles, over?" Nothing but static is heard.

Blossom said "Blossom to Bubbles, Blossom to Bubbles, do you read me, over?" Still nothing.

Buttercup said "Is she out of range?"

Blossom said "Maybe the iron in the asteroid is interfering with our radios like it did the radar."

Buttercup said "We better look for her."

Blossom said "I'm going to leave a beacon so we can find this place again." She puts a small device on the bottom of the crater and switches it on. A beeping sound can be heard over their radios.

Blossom said "Let's go."

Narrator They leave the crater and head away from the ship. Heading back over the surface of the asteroid they look carefully for their sister

.Meanwhile Bubbles is floating over the surface becoming mesmerized by the stillness of space.

Bubbles said "It's so peaceful out here. Why does it have to be ruined by the evil Mojo Jojo?" Suddenly she sees a glint out of the corner of her eye.

Bubbles said "What's that?" She looks over at the mouth of a large cave.

Bubbles said "I bet Mojo is hiding his ship in there." As she slowly approaches she sees several small lights floating in the deep dark recesses of the cave.

Bubbles said "Ooh fireflies. Wait a minute, the are no bugs in space. What's making those lights?"

Narrator When she enters the cave she sees the lights near the back of it. As she gets closer they would get further away. Soon she is deep inside the cave and surrounded by the darkest blackness she has ever experienced.

Bubbles said "Ooh, it's getting scary. I wish Blossom was here. If Buttercup was here she would make fun of my being scared of the dark." As she tries to find the entrance to the cave she gets deeper and deeper into the darkness. Then she brushes against a loose pile of rocks. As they fall more rocks come tumbling down.

Bubbles said "Why is everything falling? I thought things don't fall in space."

Narrator Then she realizes there is gravity on this small planet and before she knows it rocks are hitting the top of her helmet. She can't see in the dark where the rocks are coming from and covers her helmet with her arms.

Bubbles said "Blossom! Buttercup! Where are you?"

Narrator Then she is buried by a landslide of rocks. The force of the rocky impact is so great she loses consciousness. She lays there almost buried by rocks. A slow hiss gives evidence to the fact that her suit has sprung a small leak. As she lays there unconscious her suit slowly loses air.

Outside the cave Blossom and Buttercup pass by calling out her name.

Blossom said "Bubbles, can you hear me?"

Buttercup said "Bubbles, where are you?"

Blossom said "I hope she's all right."

Buttercup said "Hey, Bubbles can take care of herself. She'll be okay."

Narrator The girls continue away from the cave calling for their sister who does not answer.

Bubbles could sense light through her closed eyes. Her breathing is slow and steady. Faint memories of what happened to her come back and she wonders if she is dead. Her eyes slowly open and they focus on the ceiling of a large cavern which she is lying in. A soft glow of light from an unknown source illuminates it. She also notices she is breathing without her helmet, there is an atmosphere where she is. Sitting up and looking around she sees holes of various sizes in the walls of the cavern.

Bubbles said "Blossom? Buttercup? Where am I?"

She hears rustling noises coming from the many dark holes. Then small points of lights can be seen moving around inside them.

Bubbles said "Who's there? I'm not afraid of you!" She hears a high pitched sound..."Squeal."

Then she sees one of the lights in the holes come closer. Holding her breath she watches the creature step out into the light. It is less than a foot tall. Its body is covered in grayish skin and has large feet with only two toes on each. Its hands are large on short arms with three fingers per hand. The creature's head is large and round with large expressive eyes and a small mouth. It does not have ears or a nose but the top of the head has a small stalk growing out of it with a glowing ball on the end, the source of the lights Bubbles has seen. The little creature walks up to Bubbles and speaks... "Squeep, squeep squeep squeep?"

Bubbles realizes the little creature is trying to communicate with her.

Bubbles said "Squeep? Is that what you are trying to say to me?"

"Squeep squeep squeepety squeep."

Bubbles said "Oh, you mean, squeep squeep squeepy squeep?"

"Squeep squeep squeep squeeeeep!"

Bubbles said "I can understand you, but where am I?"

"Squeep squeep squeeper squeep."

Bubbles said "Oh, I'm deep inside the planet, this is your home." Then she notices the other creatures much like the one she is talking to coming out of their holes. They gather around her and she can see they are of various sizes but have the same physical attributes.

Bubbles said "You're so cute, I'll call you...I know! Squeeps!"

Narrator Suddenly the whole place shakes with a rumble making all the creatures run into the holes to hide.

Bubbles said "Oh my gosh, what was that? An earthquake? That's silly, we're not on Earth." She sees the squeals peeking from inside their holes.

Bubbles said "Please come out, there is nothing to be afraid of. Squeep squeep squeep."

The first squeep to talk to her comes out and looks up at her with trusting eyes.

Bubbles said "You got to help me find my sisters, they look like me.

Squeep squeep squeepety squeepety squeep squeep squeep."

Squeep - "Squeep squeepy squeep."

Narrator Then a group of squeeps run out of the holes toward a tunnel while the first squeep brings Bubbles her helmet. Meanwhile, on the surface of the small planet, Blossom and Buttercup still look for Bubbles.

Buttercup said "What was that shaking?"

Blossom said "It could only mean one thing. Mojo Jojo is putting his plan into effect. Come on."

Buttercup said "What about Bubbles?"

Blossom said "We'll find her later. If we don't try to stop Mojo now we won't have a planet left to find her on."

Buttercup said "What are you talking about?"

Zooming over the surface of the planetoid the two Powerpuff Girls reach the dark side and see Mojo's ship has separated into two sections. The one with the cockpit hovers over the other section which remains on the surface. As the cockpit section moves away under power the section remaining glows with an eerie light.

Buttercup said "What is that monkey up to?"

Blossom said "I figured as much, that part he left behind is a bomb. When it goes off it will send this planet plummeting toward Earth, and Townsville."

Buttercup said "Oh gosh, we have got to stop it!"

Narrator But when the Powerpuff Girls get closer an invisible force field shocks them and they fall to the ground.

Buttercup said "OWW! DAMMIT! That hurts!"

Blossom said "That force field must have some Anti-X energy in it. He must of anticipated us trying to stop him."

Buttercup said "What do we do now?"

Blossom said "Find Bubbles and get off this planet before the bomb explodes. When it does we'll use our powers to divert the planet toward the sun so it can't be used as a weapon against Earth."

Buttercup said "Let's go then!"

Narrator The two sisters float back over the surface toward the lighter side of the planet and are beginning to look around when they see the lights at the mouth of the cave.

Blossom said "Buttercup! Do you see that?"

Buttercup said "Yeah, it may be something."

Blossom said "Let's get a closer look."

When they enter the cave they see the lights recede toward the back of it. They are almost reluctant in looking further when they hear the faint voice of Bubbles over their radios.

Bubbles said "Blossom? Buttercup? Are you there?"

Blossom said "Bubbles! Are you alright?"

Buttercup said "Where are you?"

Bubbles said "I'm okay, just follow the lights."

Blossom said "What?"

Bubbles said "The lights, the lights, follow the lights into the cave."

Buttercup said "There they go."

The two sisters go deeper into the cave following the lights until a tunnel leads them to a large lighted cavern. In the middle of it stands Bubbles surrounded by little creatures. They can see the lights they have been following are on the stalks on the heads of the creatures.

They rush toward Bubbles.

Blossom said "Bubbles!"

Buttercup said "We were so worried about you!"

Narrator The three sisters hug and for a long moment share the sibling bond that has always given them strength.

Blossom said "Oh Bubbles, it's so good to see you are alright."

Buttercup said "I was missing hearing you suck up the peanut butter."

Bubbles giggle "Hee hee hee, I love you too."

Blossom said "What happened to you?"

Bubbles said "I was looking for Mojo Jojo in this cave when rocks fell on me and I was knocked out. Then I woke up here after these Squeaks helped me."

Buttercup said "Squeeps? You mean these little critters?"

Bubbles said "They are not critters, they are my friends."

Squeep said "Squeep squeep squeep squeepety squeep."

Bubbles said "I agree, Buttercup is a big doo-doo head."

Buttercup said "What?"

Blossom said "Wait a minute Bubbles, these sentient beings live here?"

Bubbles said "Yes, they told me they live down inside this place in big caves like this. There are lots of them."

Blossom said "Uh oh!"

Buttercup said "Change of plans Leader Girl?"

Blossom said "Yes, we can't leave that bomb now, it could destroy these creatures' home."

Bubbles said "They are not creatures, they are squeeps!...What do mean bomb?"

Buttercup said "Mojo left a big bomb on the dark side of this planet."

Blossom said "When it goes off it will send this planet toward Townsville and endanger these uh, squeeps."

Bubbles said "Oh no, we got to stop that bomb!"

Blossom said "We can't get close to it. It has an Anti-X force field."

Buttercup said "Which means it's Powerpuff Girls' proof."

A squeep walks up to Bubbles and tugs on the sleeve of her space suit. Squeep - "Squeep, squeep squeep?"

Bubbles said "Squeep squeep squeeper squeep squeep."

Buttercup said "You can talk to those critters?"

Bubbles said "Buttercup!"

Buttercup said "I know, I know, they're not critters, they're your friends."

Narrator Then they see all the squeeps huddling in a group and squeeping to each other. Finally one goes over to Bubbles. Squeep - "Squeep squeep, squeeper squeep squeepy squeep."

Bubbles said "Squeep squeep? Girls, they can do something about the bomb!"

Blossom said "How? We can't get to it."

Bubbles said "It might be Powerpuff Girl proof, but it's not squeep proof." Bubbles puts on her helmet and points to the group of squeeps who run into a large tunnel. The girls follow them until they reach the end of it.

Buttercup said "Where are we?"

Blossom said "According to the beacon's signal on my scanner we are below ground near where the bomb is."

Bubbles said "Look at what they are doing."

Narrator The girls watch as the squeeps start biting into the rocky walls of the tunnel and actually eat their way upward. Using their teeth they make a tunnel up towards the surface. When the tunnel becomes big enough the girls follow the tunneling squeeps. Finally they break through to the surface and they find themselves on the dark side of the planet. Nearby is the large bomb, metal girders extend from the device attaching it to the surface rock.

Blossom said "There it is, we can't get any closer because of the force field."

Bubbles said "Squeep squeep squeep."

Squeep said "Squeep squeep!"

Buttercup said "What did you tell it?"

Bubbles said "To get it lose from the rock."

The girls watch as the squeeps run out onto the surface toward the bomb.

Blossom said "Wow, they must be able to breath in the thin air on the surface."

Then the squeeps eat at the rock that the bomb supports are embedded in. When they get it lose they lift the bomb up off the surface of the planet.

Buttercup said "They got it!"

Blossom - said "Follow me girls!"

She flies overhead followed by her sisters and they meet far above the bomb.

Blossom said - "Cosmic cyclone formation!"

Holding hands the girls spin at high speed in a circle. Their energy contrails forms a twister that envelopes the bomb. The device is lifted out of the squeeps' hands and the girls fly into space dragging the bomb after them. Then they twist their bodies and "crack the whip" sending the bomb hurtling into deep space. It explodes in a bright flash of light in the distance.

Buttercup said "Whew, that was close."

Blossom said "We did it!"

Bubbles said "We and the Squeeps did it."

Narrator When the girls land back on the surface the squeeps surround them making excited sounds.

"Squeep squeep squeep squeep squeep!"

Buttercup said "Let me guess, they are grateful."

Bubbles said "Well they don't think you're such a doo-doo head now."

Buttercup said "Hey!"

Bubbles giggle "Hee hee hee, I'm just teasing. They like you and Blossom very much."

Blossom said "Well you better say goodbye to your friends, Bubbles. We got to catch up to Mojo Jojo."

Bubbles said "Awww, can't I take one home with me?"

Blossom said "NO! You know better than to take a being from its natural home. It may not be happy on our world."

Bubbles said "You're right, I'll be with you in a minute."

Blossom said "Come on Buttercup, lets go plan our next move."

Buttercup said "Uh, okay."

As they move away Bubbles looks sadly at her little friends.

Bubbles said "I have to go, squeep squeep squeep." One of the squeeps walks up to Bubbles and hugs her arm. Squeep - "Squeep?

Bubbles said "I know, I'll miss you too. Squeep squeepy squeep."

Blossom said "Bubbles, are you coming?"

Bubbles said "Yes."

As she starts to leave one of the squeeps hands her a rock. Bubbles puts it in a pocket and waves goodbye to her friends. She flies off the planet to join her sisters. Bubbles looks back one last time and sees the squeeps going back underground. She turns to catch up with Blossom and Buttercup.

Narrator Meanwhile Mojo Jojo has been looking at his view screens.

Mojo said "I do not understand. I saw the explosion but the asteroid is not moving. Maybe my instruments need adjustment." He twiddles several knobs and looks again.

Mojo said "There, that should do it. Yes, I see something moving. In fact there are three things moving. In my direction!?" Then his eyes go wide, his teeth grit and grind, and he starts to sweat.

Mojo said "NO! It cannot be!"

Narrator Then his space ship shudders as the Powerpuff Girls slam into it. He turns to see the girls have punched through the outer shell of his ship. He hangs onto his seat as the air in the ship is sucked out by the vacuum of space. Buttercup grabs him as Bubbles forces his helmet on. As they drag Mojo out of the ship Blossom engages the self-destruct. Soon the girls and Mojo are far away when the ship explodes. Blossom tunes Mojo's radio to their frequency and they hear his ranting.

Mojo yelled "Aaarrrhhh! You accursed Powerpuff Girls, you have ruined everything!"

Blossom said "On the contrary, everything is going just fine. We stopped your plan to send an asteroid into Townsville."

Mojo said "DANG!"

Buttercup said "Shut your trap Mojo, or I'll make you a permanent resident of the moon."

Bubbles said "You bad monkey, you're going to get what's coming to you."

Mojo laugh "Hah, no punishment is worse than my finest plan failing."

Buttercup said "That's what you think. Hey, Bubbles, why don't you have a snack of peanut butter."

Bubbles said "Oh goody, I was getting hungry. Slurp slurp slurp!"

Mojo said "Stop that disgusting noise you brat. Someone turn off my radio."

Buttercup said "I can't hear you Mojo, we got our radios turned off."

Bubbles sound "Slurp slurp slurp..."

Mojo yelled "Aaaaaahhhhh!"

Narrator So for the next few hours Mojo Jojo is treated to the constant sound of Bubbles' enjoyment of peanut butter as they all return to Earth. When they get back the girls turn a very dazed Mojo Jojo over to the authorities.

Mojo said "Slurp slurp, it tastes so good, slurp slurp."

Prison warden said "Is Mojo Jojo all right, girls?"

Blossom said "Let's just say he's got a bad case of space madness."

Mojo said "Slurp slurp, tweet tweet, slurp slurp."

As Mojo is lead away the girls fly back home. That evening the Professor rewards the girls by taking them to a favorite restaurant, Belly Bob's Buffet and Salad Bar.

Professor said "Girls, I'm proud of you."

Buttercup said "Did you have any doubts that we would save the day? Yum, this roast beef is great. I missed real food."

Bubbles said "I know what you mean, I was getting tired of peanut butter. Do you think we will ever meet the Squeeps again, Professor?"

Professor said "I don't see why not. When humankind eventually explores space they will encounter other intelligent species like them."

Blossom said "Maybe when you grow up Bubbles, you can be an astronaut and help discover new races on other worlds."

Bubbles said "That would be fun."

Buttercup said "I don't know about you but I'm going to discover what's on the desert bar."

Blossom said "Well leave some for the rest of us."

As Buttercup makes a beeline for the buffet, Bubbles takes a shiny rock from her pocket.

Blossom said "What's that, Bubbles?"

Bubbles said "A present from my friends."

As she holds up the rock and shakes it a tinkling sound is heard. She smiles as she holds her present close to her heart.

Bubbles said "Thank you...squeepy squeeps."

Narrator so once again the space and Townville is saved thank to the Powerpuff girls"
