"I think I just cheated on my bike." Maggie mumbled still eyeing the sleek black colored Mercedes with envious eyes as she made her way out into the crisp afternoon air after her shift ended. "And maybe my girlfriend." She adds with an even more guilty expression the same moment she catches a giggling Lena spinning a set of car keys around one pale finger as she waited out on the sidewalk for her.

They'd been trying whenever their respective and hectic schedules would allow spending more time together in an attempt to form a friendship outside their similar attractions for their respective Danvers sister and a similar interest in justice, science, and top-shelf liquor.

"I had Jess drop it off and take your motorcycle back to your apartment." Lena had said by way of an explanation to the whereabouts of Maggie's now missing motorbike that should have been parked where the car now stood. "Not that I didn't doubt your driving abilities Maggie, it's just my girlfriend's overly protective of my safety when she's otherwise engaged to look after me herself, so this is my way of humoring her."

At that Maggie rolls her eyes "She would." She sighs glancing back at the radically expensive car. Just by the look of it, the cop can tell this car could face a tank and roll out with hardly a scratch to the glossy paint job.

"And since your girlfriend is the snarky older sister of mine that means you are under the same safety policies as I am, Mags." Lena adds with another teasing half-smile as Maggie once again rolls her eyes as she turns up the collar of the jacket she'd borrowed from Alex that morning against the chill. "Now hop in, Sawyer. We're going shopping.

Apparently, Lena was second-guessing not only her already matchlessly thought-out style design but also now her color choices and had asked Maggie to straighten her out only earning a playful "Seriously, Lena? I'm not straight by any definition unless, of course, it's for my job yet you're asking my advice?" over the phone earlier in the day as the pair hammered out the last few details of their 'get to know you better' evening out.

"Has Kara seen these?" Maggie finds herself wondering aloud when she catches sight of the so delicately stitched silvery-blue symbol decorating the dull black of the car's seat covers as Lena starts the engine and pulls out onto the roadway.

"I haven't had the chance to show her just yet actually." The Luthor confesses rolling to a stop at a red traffic light.

Maggie only hums under her breath in answer still attempting to find a mutually liked song in the scant options the Luthor had thought to program into the car's sound system. "So, you say the only thing you haven't thought to change on this side project of yours is what the thing will be made from." The cop clarifies looking between the driver and the radio.

Lena nodes once in confirming answer. "I think it will be funny. The same devise Kara once crushed because it could detect aliens now made into a symbol of my complete love for one? For her?"

"Come on Lena stop with the adorableness, or I'll end up with cavities." Maggie groaned only mildly upset by the honest devotion behind the other woman's words. "and since when are you a Remy Zero fan?"

Lena only smiles in pride as her fingers began tapping along with the song now filling the car.

"I've been an outsider a long time. Most of that time I did long for someone to sweep in and save me. Until I realized I was capable of saving myself all along." She says after a few measures of quiet as the chosen song builds to the first round of the chorus lyrics.

"Alright point." Maggie concedes as the car smoothly weaves in and out of traffic as the sky changed slowly from afternoon to dusk.

"Somebody save me-"

Dusk had fallen quicker than expected since the oddly matched couple had started working their way from shop to shop. Their latest stop is a vegan-friendly ice cream parlor.

Maggie chooses Rocky Road the same time Lena gives an uncharacteristic "That one please." As she jabs her finger towards the display at the brand labeled 'Lil' blue panda' with a covering "Kara's gotten me hooked. Seriously it's sooo yummy." Once the excited Luthor catches Maggie's amused grin as she licks at her own cone.

"I'd ask if you wanted to send your leading lady a picture but this late, I don't want to risk distracting our Ace reporter in the middle of a story." Maggie says mindful of her wording as she takes another lick of her sweet treat. "You know how she gets when chasing a story." At that Lena smiles around the plastic spoon, she'd gotten having chosen a large cup to house her ice cream rather than a cone as Maggie had. Her eyes like Maggie's glazed ones catching sight of a rerun of an earlier new report of the tag-teaming endeavors of Supergirl and Sentinel uptown from the open strip mall Lana had driven them to.

"Trust me she'll be able to tell as soon as she kisses me." Lena purrs her cheeks dusting pink at her own soft admission. The heat of it Maggie was sure could melt the sweet icy treat between her hands if Lena would lift her bowl a little higher to feel the heat coloring her face in a darkening rose red.

"So have you finished packing?"

Maggie blinks a few times in confusion at the question as she follows Lena back out onto the sidewalk of the outdoor shopping mall. "Am I going somewhere I don't know about?"

Now its Lena that looks puzzled "Kara said you and Alex were coming with us next weekend when we go visit Eliza." She summarizes around another spoon full of ice cream. "Alex hadn't brought it up?"

Maggie shakes her head in quiet denial. "I mean during our last video chat Eliza had started bringing up some dance being thrown at Alex and Kara's old high school but then Alex seemed to deliberately let the fire alarm go off so she could end the call before I could get more intel." She reasons slowly finishing her rapidly melting ice cream as they weave their way down the pathway.

Maggie keeping the fact her then grumpy girlfriend had been half dressed considering Maggie had found just the right word to gain her shirt in their latest round of strip scrabble so she'd needed to be extra stealthy when sneaking pasted the live webcam was bringing a shy grin to the corner of the dazed woman's lips as she cools the heat the memory alone was rekindling with more chilly ice cream.

"Like prom?" Lena asks earning an unsure shrug of shoulders from Maggie.

"I haven't thought to call back and ask." The cop says guiltily. "But given my history of my time in high school….." Maggie hesitates chewing her lower lip as a few drops of melting ice cream drip onto her fingers.

They'd reached the jewelry shop by now. Lena's shoulder brushed Maggie's in attempted comfort at the pained glazed look now passing over Maggie's eyes. "You get any of that in my car I'm sending you the bill for cleaning my seat covers." The Luthor says changing the topic with a playful scold that had she not been giggling in amusement would have had Maggie crying to witness.

"Remind me again why I'm friends with you?" Maggie sighed with a soft half-smile in unspoken thanks as she licks up the offending drops as she holds the door open.

"I'm the one in an ecstatically happy relationship with your girlfriend's younger sister?" Lena asks dropping her voice so only Maggie would be able to hear her considering she didn't want her romance with Kara splashed across the headlines come morning only to be stopped from actually entering the shop by the shrill ringing of Maggie's cell phone.

"Sawyer?" Maggie answers her tone one an odd blend of playful and apprehensive as she licks up the last few spots of ice cream from between her fingers.

Lena's head whips around so quickly she was surprised she didn't get whip flash at the panicked "Ezra, Ezra slow down…." But she couldn't exactly ask just what was wrong considering her own cell phone started ringing insistently inside her jacket.

Before she could properly answer the call Maggie's hand closed tightly around her upper arm startling her enough that Lena miss punched the button so she dropped the call before she could even see just who it was attempting to get ahold of her.

Lana starts at the loud curse Maggie gives when it seemed the call cuts off abruptly. "Called from a payphone." She says by way of an explanation "Poor kid ran out of change before I could coax anything understandable out of what was being said. Whatever it was that just happened it really isn't good." only for Maggie's phone to start ringing a second time just as the pair make it back to the car.

"Hey, Ezy…."

Lana's eyebrow raises at the sharp intake of breath Maggie gives along with a wary "Yes this is Maggie Sawyer." as the seatbelt snaps backward almost rebounding off the door with the snap

The only other sound besides the panicked change in Maggie's breathing pattern was the noticeable revenge of the purring car's engine as Lena guns the gas with a soft but demanding "Where are they?" as they speed unbothered against a red light.
