It seemed like just another day at the office really.
Well if by office you mean a back alleyway, and by just another day you mean hoisting some random mugger up by webs for the cops to find while Spider -women made a quick exit, after checking on the scared girls that were just about to be mugged that is.
She was helpful okay, just could stick around for too long or some cop could come around and start shooting at her.
Again.
Buyt thats just another day in the life of Gwen stacy, aka spider-women, aka, the one who killed Peter parker two years ago and was condemned by the public as a murderer.
Okay so her life wasn't going so great, but she was still helping people! And when she took off the mask she was just a normal girl, hanging with her friends playing drums in her band and just enjoying the last few months before she hit 20 and…still couldn't drink but you get the point.
Landing on a roof, Gwen took in a slow breath as she parched herself on the edge, looking up towards the clear blue skies, letting the random noises of New York fliter in one ear and out the other.
Times like these she could just take a moment and just breath, a lot had happened in two years and not alot of it was good, for her spidy persona that is. On the normal girl side everything was fine really.
She and her band had a good number of gigs going, a small fan base brewing and a few more shows lined up and even a little bit of extra money rolling around for when they wanted to get pizza instead of crappy microwave meals for dinner.
It was good, her roommates were happy, she was happy, her cat murderface was happy…as happy as a grumpy cat could be but still.
On the other side, spider-woman was still being hunted by the police, not as well as before since her dad had quit the force but they still actively took shots at her when she was just trying to help.
But she couldn't really blame them. She was seen as a murdered and no matter what Captain America said she couldnt stop thinking that it was all her fault. If she had just paid more attention then Pete….let's not go down that road of depression again.
Shaking her head, the heroine let her blue clad feet idly dangle from the edge of the building, her thoughts swimming about what could have been if things were different. But all those thoughts only made her eyes narrow in distaste.
Because none of it was real and she couldn't change that for anything.
But helping people around New York as Spider-woman helped ease her thoughts a little, ever since it happened she vowed to keep going, to keep helping because it was the right thing to do.
And maybe she would find peace at some point along the way.
Turning back towards the street below, Gwen was tempted to free fall into a swing and head home, nothing was really happening toward and by all means no one had busted out of prison to cause any major damage so, thing were looking up for a bit.
And she spoke to soon.
"Oh for, grrr!" the spider girl growled, looking to see that a large fire had sprouted out from one of the buildings in her view, the flames growing higher and higher by the second.
Without a second thought Gwen fell into a freefall, wiping her hand out as a string of web flew from her web shooters, latching onto the edge of the building as she swung towards the danger.
Time to do what she did best, even if people were going to curse her out for helping.
Down in an alleyway, a figure vomited uncontrollably, a mixture of blood and stomach acid pooling at his feet. Wayward citizens of the city looked on, some sparing distuged looks at what they could only assume to be some drugged out hobo in the alleyway.
The figure stumbled forward, holding his head as his fingers dug into his brown hair, matted with blood and sweat as images flew through their mind.
One second the man was hazily looking around a metal room, strapped down to a table as a pair of masked surgeons loomed overhead, the vision fading before the doctor started cutting into his chest with a scalpel.
The next was another metal room, much smaller and so much more colder as he sat in the corner unable to move as he cried for someone, anyone to help.
That vision faded into the next, a blur of fire and rage, strong black metallic arms ripping through the walls of the prison he was trapped in. ripping and tearing the guards to pieces, taking vicious bits out of a larger gerd neck with his razor sharp fangs.
The boy vomited again, falling onto his side as one last vision appeared.
A white misty area surrounded him, whispers and memories floating freely around him as he tried to find anyone, anything to tell him where he was.
Who was he again?
Pe….
"Chosen" a whisper sounded more like a vicious snarl as the boy looked up, his eyes widening in horror as the sky exploded, dark grey and black webs seemed to encircle the misty area, trapping him from all directions as the spider's web formed high above.
"You would be gifted my curse…but not this time" the voice boomed, shaking the boys to his core as he fell to his knees, barely keeping back a scream as his head felt like it was being ripped apart.
"The gods have chosen you to wield this power, this new power" the voice continued, taking no notice of the pain the boy was in as he gripped his head, trying to do anything to make it all stop.
"You will be changed, you will be reborn as their champion in my realm" images of monsters flowed through the boy's mind. A large white dragon standing tall, red plated scales protected by white mechanised around as a fire burned around him, staring back at the boy with a proud grin on its face.
The image shifted, a monsterous black dragon looming over the boy, black metal armour adoring its body as sharp silver claws dug into the boy's shoulders, keeping him from moving as its blood red eyes glared down at him with rage fueled anger.
Before the boy could scream the image shifted again, red rose like petals covering the ground as a dragon with scales of rose petals flew towards him, its red eyes looking at him with wonder as it landed before him.
Bowing its head to him before the image shifted for a final time.
A field of bones littered the ground, a monstrous being stood in front of the boy, its glowing red eyes looking at him and pondering what to do with him. Its golden skeleton like armour glinting in the low light as a flash of lightning struck the ground between them, freezing the boy in place as fear overtook him.
The monster smiled at his reaction, reaching forward with a clawed hand as its bone-like wings unfurled to make the creature even more frightening than it was before.
The visions vanished after that, leaving the boy shaking in fear in the alleyway, slowlying curling into a ball as he tried and failed to not vomit up blood again. A glint caught the boys attention, turning his head slowly to see a set of four cards laying on the ground in front of him.
Slowly reaching for them, the boy froze as he held them.
Each one…each one held the image of one of the creatures he had seen in that vision. His eyes looked away from the golden monster that struck fear in his heart. Turning to comforting warmth as the rose like dragon's card caught his eyes.
The warms increase to an inferno as he gazed onto the black dragons card, the roaring heat making him flinch.
Looking at the last card, the hellish heat disappeared, looking at the white and red mechanised dragon made the boy feel proud, he felt comfort and kindness from the card as its red eyes seemed to look at him with a fond expression.
Holding the cards close, the boy felt his body stop shivering as he stayed in the alleyway, regaining some kind of bearings as he slowly sat up, ignoring the smell of his own blood and vomit as he looked upwards.
His eyes caught sight of the bright blue sky overhead, not cloud in sight as the boy found himself smiling at the comfort the skies gave him.
He couldn't wait to fly again…
Fly?
Another headache bloomed from the thought, he couldn't fly, he didn't have wings, he wasn't some bird, he…he was just a person and…he didn't even know his name. Panic enveloped him, his body curling up in fright as he couldn't remember anything, nothing at all.
He found himself unable to breath as the panic attack got worse, his arms shaking as he tried to think of anything, anything at all that could ground him.
But nothing came.
Before his fear could get any worse, a shift in the air caught his attention. Looking down the boy saw a puddle at the other end of the alleyway, something…shifting in the still water as the boy found himself crawling over to it.
Looking down at his reflection, the brown haired boy couldn't even put a name to his own face. He looked like everybody else, brown hair, brown eyes and pale skin, a few scratches and cuts littering his face from…whatever happened to him…not that he could remember anyway.
Before he could let his thoughts get the better of him. The boy found the puddle shifting, his reflection disappearing as he was frozen in fear as the golden crowned head of the fiend-like monster stared back at him, narrowing its eyes as it lifted one of its claws and pointed towards the cards he held.
The boy shook, slowly bringing the cards up and took a look at the golden creature's card. A name…the name of the creature was displayed at the top of the card in a dull gold.
Hamon, Lord of striking thunder.
Hamon…a name? Looking back at the creature in the puddle, the golden monster, no Hamon, nodded towards him with a fanged filled grin making him flinch in fright as the creature gave him a soundless chuckle before disappearing.
A name, this…creature had a name…did the…his curiosity was answered as the other cards proudly displayed their names above their pictures as well.
The white armoured dragon…Firewall.
The rose scaled dragon. Black rose.
The metal monster…red eyes flare.
Just…what were these cards.
The puddle shifted again as the boy looked down, seeing the image of the black rose staring back at him with a comforting smile on its lips. A rose scaled wings lifting up and pointing towards iots card.
"Black…a name?" he mumbled as the dragon nodded softly to him, looking pointedly at him. "A name for me?" he asked as the dragon nodded disappearing from view as the boy felt himself fall backwards, his back hitting the alleyway wall again as he tried to understand what was happening to him.
"Black…it's not much but…it'll help" the newly named Black said, looking down at the 4 cards in his hands. Slowly climbing to his feet, the boy took notice of the dirty and ripped clothes he wore. A pair of jeans that had seen better days and a shirt that was one gust away from falling to pieces.
Black could only sigh in defeat at the state of him, he really wasn't going to make any decent impressions once he left this alleyway.
But he needed to go find some help, maybe someone that knew him or something. Anything would do before night hit and he had to sleep outside in the cold.
On that note the boy didn't even know what the date was… hopefully it was summer if he had to sleep outside…he really didn't want to deal with the cold while looking like a victim of a mugging.
Before the brown haired boy could get to even step towards the exit of the alleyway, a sudden explosion erupted from nearby. Fire engulfed the building beside him and sent him flying into the trash cans further down the alleyway.
The sounds of screaming and running was all he could hear, as well as someone…laughing?
A mad cackle boomed over all of the screams, smaller explosions making the ground rumble beneath Blacks feet as he tried to stand. More explosions followed by more laughing as the boy tried to get away, tried to flee in fear of his own safety.
Only to pause as a low rumble made him stop.
Looking at his hand, one of the cards was glowing softly in his hands. The firewall dragon card was staring back at Black, its eyes seemingly narrowed in disgust at what he was doing.
"What! How…how can I help?!" the boy yelled in a panic as the crad pulsed softly, seemingly answering him as he felt a trickle of energy seeping from the card into his arm.
Before he could say anything else, another explosion erupted from the building beside him, the wall collapsing into the alleyway and engulfing the teenager as he screamed in fear.
A soft red glow forming under the enraging fire before he disappeared under the rubble and flamers of the falling building.
High above the explosions, Gwen landed on the street, a pair of kids running towards their parents as she turned back towards the flaming building,s her eyes narrowing as she caught sight of someone standing above them.
A familiar fishbowl like helmet staring down at her as the green clad villain cackled, throwing his hands into the air as more explosions erupted from the building, making the walls collapse even more as more panicked screams came from within the inferno.
"Fuck! Dammit Mysterio! What have you done!" Gwenn all but screamed, launching a webline towards the masked man as he turned to face him, ducking out of the way as the white clad spider flew over head, turning mid air and diving back towards him with a vicious kick to send him tumbling back to street level.
And away from anymore of the explosion he had more than likely set up to make the building collapse.
"You're too late, spider! Watch as I mysterio destroy this building and more!" the man laughed, throwing a hand up as the woman's spider sense blared into the back of her head. Watching in horror as more explosions were set off, the structure of the building collapsed around her and on top of whoever was still inside the building.
"NO!" Gwen screamed, throwing a few weblines outwards to try and keep the building from falling any further.
She didn't have any more time as mysterio came flying towards her, cutting the web lines with a maddening cackle.
"Ah ah ah, this building will fall and there's more to come you pest!" he laughed seemingly vanished from view and appeared on the building across the street as Gwen swung her fist to smash his fishbowl in.
She was stuck, the building was falling and she couldn't get anyone out without letting mysterio get away and continue destroying the place and hurting everyone.
She needed help.
Before she could try and think of something, a sudden roar ripped through the ground below her. The eyes of her mask widening in surprise as a pulsing field of red energy cut through the collapsing building, the rubble bouncing off the shield and dispapating harmlessly against it.
Below the shield, numerous scared and crying citizens stood, huddled together as someone was holding their hand up above them, a red and white armour claw curled towards the shield as the newcomer strood, keeping the energy shield in place.
Standing above the sacred survivors of the fire, was a red and white plated mechanised dragon, floating bits of white metal circling below the energy shield as the beast's red eyes narrowed towards mysterio.
The halo-like horns curling behind its head seemed to pulse with blue data like streams as it curled its claw towards the masked villain.
"What! Who the hell are you!" mysterio screamed his plan seemingly foiled as the new hero? Stopped the building from hurting anyone else.
"The one that's stopping you freak!" the dragon roared, flicking its claw as the bits shifted to point towards the villain, the energy shifting into spears of plasma before shooting towards the man.
Forcing him to disappear again to avoid being skewered by the energy attack.
"Get out of here!" The dragon roared, making the rescued citizen scream in fear as the bits returned to its back, foming little jets before he took off towards the madman.
Downbelow Gwen followed after the two of them, hoping this new guy was here to help.
