Two days after their arrival, the Mitchell brothers and Mindy had a tour of the park alongside Claire, Valentina and Owen since Reese and her friends were busy with asking not to be schooled within the regular schooling system anymore, instead opting for home schooling to finally be in peace with their own conscience. Indeed, the popular bullies were supported by almost everyone at school, minus the principal who would gladly accept to oblige to Reese's request of home schooling. And Reese was patiently waiting the principal's answer for the teen's request.
Speaking of whom, she was standing in line at the Gentle Giant Petting Zoo alongside her father, who was carrying Valentina, Claire, the Mitchell brothers and Mindy. Reese got answer from her friends their request to be home-schooled had been accepted partly due to their parents quitting their job at Jurassic World. Just as Gray was preparing to bounce in order to get a better view of the baby dinosaurs, Reese got the principal's answer by text.
"Can someone lift me up? I'm 4 and a half inches!" Gray excitedly said.
"No. This place for toddlers and spoiled brats. By the way, there's better than this." Reese sullenly told.
"Yes. And what did the principal tell you?" Owen told his daughter.
"Good news, Dad. My request has been accepted. So just like when Mom was still alive. Home-schooled." Reese replied showing the text proving her statement.
Owen smirked at the news when Zach, Gray, Mindy and Claire decided to go to the Mosasaurus feeding show, at Mosie's lagoon. A bored and sad Reese followed the group in a sullen attitude, since this family reunion reminded her the time after her mother passed away. Matt and Alma were good parents to Valentina, but they never actually liked Reese nor accepted her as she was. This resulted in them overprotecting Valentina while simultaneously ignoring Reese and trash-talking about Reese's mother.
Owen then carried a jumping Valentina to Mosie's lagoon while Reese walked to the staff door at the exhibit, having decided to lend a hand rather than have fun. Once in the staff hallway, Reese met Julia who remarked Reese's sullen and sad face. Knowing this must have resulted her in spliting from the rest of her group, Julia went to Reese while the Mitchell brothers and Mindy sat with Claire, Valentina and Owen.
"Yo, Reese. How are ya?" Julia answered.
"Yo, Jules. Fine thanks. And ya?" Reese replied.
"Fine. But you're not fine at all. Just tell me." Julia gently replied while patting Reese's shoulder.
Sighing deeply, Reese began her story, "I was seven when my mother died in 2006. Since then, my father was deployed until he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 2010. But I had to spend time with my uncle and aunt, who would brag about beeing married and trash talk about my parents, who didn't even want to marry. My mother kept her maiden name which was Faith Addison while my father was named Owen Grady. To my uncle's eyes, I was the result of an illegitimate child. Hence these sad memories."
Julia then craddled Reese upon seeing the teenager was about to cry and comforted Reese the best she could. Julia now understood why Reese was so sad at Christmas time. This was due to the loss of her mother and the psychological abuse at the hands of Matt and Alma, who would overprotect and spoil their child while simultaneously mentally abusing Reese. The teenager then let Julia go before warmly nodding the latter thank you for supporting her in the emotional struggle her life was now.
Meanwhile, Sarah the announcer explained information about the Mosasaurus while Mindy and Zach were huddled against one another as Valentina was jumping back and forth with Owen trying to restrain his niece with Claire's help. But Valentina revealed her true colors as a spoiled toddler and bit her uncle's hand and clawed Claire, forcing both adults to let go.
"Shit. Didn't know your bro and sis-in-law spoiled her that much!" Claire exclaimed.
"Should have given her to Jo Frost after all." Owen complained.
Valentina then stuck her tongue out to everyone while inceasantly interrupting poor Sarah. Fortunately, Mindy proved to be a quick thinker since the blonde girl turned around and caught Valentina's collar. The toddler tried to force the teen to let go, but Mindy's grip was too strong for the three year old. Valentina then began chucking a huge temper tantrum, annoying both the staffers and the tourists alike as Mindy began to scold Valentina, since Mindy had already been babysitting difficult-to-control little children before.
"Listen to me you brat. Either you behave well, or I will glady call Jo Frost. She's actually my role model. And I met her in person after reading her book." Mindy threatened.
"NO! I WANT TO SWIM WITH THE WATEW DINOSAUW! I WANT TO GO IN THEWE! I WANT TO SWIM IN HEWE!" Valentina yelled.
"ANOTHER TANTRUM AND I'LL TOSS YOU DIRECTLY IN PRISON! UNDERSTAND LITTLE BRAT?" Mindy yelled.
"The girl's right! If you the toddler don't stop now, then we'll be happy to throw you in prison." a recently-arrived Tim enquired.
Valentina then kept whining before Mindy gave Tim and his men Valentina's dinner when Lex suddenly arrived and confiscated Valentina's bag. Lex then searched it and only found child-liked food like sweets or potato chips. But Lex also found a letter at the bottom of the bag and opened it. Smirking, the businesswoman began reading it aloud thanks to a microphone provided to her by one of Tim's men who proceeded to search the pink bag and found items given by either Matt Grady or Alma.
"Dear Everyone. I wrote this letter to inform you all my kid has something special allowing her to speak and communicate with animals. And this something has been designed by my wife Alma. I won't tell what is this thing but what I do know is that my kid will giggle if animals are nearby. You must also know she's very stubborn and only obeys when she wants to. Signed Matt Grady."
Owen and Claire smirked at a now-silent Valentina while Lex, Tim and his men put the letter in an evidence enveloppe to avoid it falling into the wrong hands. Claire then nodded to Lex to thank her for silencing Valentina while Gray fist-bumped Mindy for having the toddler understand what she actually was. As Sarah and everyone else finally resumed the show, Mosie jumped out of the water before grabbing a huge pack of tuna and diving into her pond. Just as the bleachers were lowered, Gray took a picture of Mosie.
"That was awesome!" Zach commented.
"It has eighty-eight teeth." Gray added.
"I'd like something funnier! With the condition the kid stays put!" Mindy told everyone.
With that, Owen and Claire took the trio to a waiting car while Valentina followed pouting. Tim and his men then boarded two Jurassic World trucks while Lex took her own jeep before all of them drove away.
As Owen drove with Claire seating in the passenger seat, Zach, Gray and Mindy sat at the rear while Valentina sat in the baby chair pouting. Both the three teens and the two adults smirked after Valentina had been severely scolded by Mindy, Tim and his men in the group. But Zach and Gray also knew these US Marines were on the island for a reason. And the reason was where Owen was driving.
"I think you're taking us to Paddock 11." Claire told Owen.
"Yes. Tim told me yesterday they were here for that." Owen explained.
A few minutes after departing Main Street, Owen stopped his car and spotted Reese's M151 jeep parked nearby. Disembarking the car, Claire, her nephews and Mindy saw Valentina pout as the toddler followed them. As they entered the observation room followed by Tim, his men and Lex, they saw Reese snapping her fingers, bringing the two hybrids into view. Katie and Julianne knew it was feeding time
"Fuck! What the fuck is that?!" a US Marine yelled.
Tim and his men leveled their M27 rifles and fired at will at the glass. But the hybrids didn't care since the glass was bulletproof as their handler Nick fed the two of them with huge chunk of meat. Suddenly, Tim saw the hybrids tilting their head at them before Gray fainted. The US Marines then reloaded their weapons before Reese motioned Tim and his men not to shoot. Tim and his fellow Marines lowered their rifles as the hybrids went to a wall to write some messages on it. They explicitly wrote they were raised as pets and not weapons.
"Gray! Gray, respond!" Mindy said checking Gray's pulse.
Seeing Gray didn't respond, Mindy put him on the side and pushed his head backwards while putting under Gray's arm while two guards called for a rescue truck over the radio.
"Marine Week." Mindy explained, having remembered what US Navy corpsmen and US Marines from the 4th Marine Division taught her and the others.
Owen, Reese and Claire smiled at Mindy, knowing she was someone they could trust. And Mindy indeed was someone trustworthy since she met Zach after performing a CPR after pulling Zach out of a lake three summers ago. Mindy even saved Gray once when the latter almost choked after accidentally a chunk of meat whole. Mindy indeed wrapped her arms around Gray's belly and pressed his stomach, forcing him to spit the meat in his throat.
Just as the rescue truck arrived, Tim's men had already loaded Gray on a stretcher and just had to carry him to the infirmary.
