June Darby entered the base with her white sedan and pulled to a stop. She grabbed the equipment bag and exited the car. She'd been told about a girl no older than Jack so June improvised in a mad dash to get here. Optimus looked to her and smiled weakly. June approached moving up to the human area to find Jack close to the girl she'd been told about. Short brown hair and a beautiful face which reminds her of Arcee in a odd way.
"She seems fine but I'm no expert" Jack admitted to his weakness.
"That's why I'm here. Be a dear and grab the clothes from the trunk" June said pulling out a stethoscope.
Jack ran to the car to grab the clothes. Raf watched June work as he also recognized the female figure. Something about her just screamed familiar. Turning back to him computer he began helping Ratchet with his studying.
"Who is she anyway?" June asked checking the girls pulse.
Optimus standing closer now watched June do her job with a almost robotic precision.
"That's what we hope to find out, prevailing theory is she's Arcee" Optimus said keeping a neutral sound to his voice.
June sharply looked up at him with a bewildered look on her face. She thought she hadn't heard him right but the look on his face told her she did hear him correctly.
"First unicron, second jack goes to Cybertron and now this" June muttered in surprise.
"Don't remind me" Jack said coming up the stairs with clothes bag in hand.
Optimus agreed silently knowing Jack was going though a rough spot ever since he had to go to cybertron. Jack begun rummaging through the bag finding an old sweater his grandmother made for him one Christmas two years ago.
"Mom why?" He said gesturing to the sweater in his hands.
June looked at him seeing the sweater.
"I was in a hurry and grabbed what i could, I'm sure she can deal with it if she's Arcee" She replied.
June brushed Jack away and so was Raf down the hall for privacy reasons. Optimus looked away as Ratchet watched for studying reasons. Bumblebee accompanied Jack and Raf for blatantly obvious reasons.
Ratchet sighed as he inspected the device. It unfortunately substance damaged and was already primed by the time Arcee got to it. Luckily it was already on the human setting and not something that couldn't breathe the atmosphere. It would've been a slow agonizing death. It also meant if he could not fix it and return her to her former self she would never leave this planet again. She would never be able to return home, not without wearing a similar suit Jack wore a month back. Given the damage to the device sustained and his lack of knowledge and it meant she was going to be like this for a bit and he already knew she wasn't gonna like it. For him however it was a nice educated experience and it would help her as well in understanding humanity a bit better.
Meanwhile Miko sat herself in the passenger seat as Bulkhead closed the door and drove away from the white house with a black metal roof. Miko looked troubled as Bulkhead drove down the street and out of town within the span of a few minutes.
"How was he?" Bulkhead asked her.
Miko shrugged indifferently to the question.
"We didn't speak much, somethings up with him and it's not a beating he talk but it might be something else entirely" Miko said dead seriously really hammering home that she wasn't kidding around anymore.
"Any idea?" Bulkhead inquired wanting to know more.
Miko shook her head and didn't answer verbally. She really didn't know and if you didn't know he really couldn't press her on the matter. For the rest of the drive to base it was complete dead silence.
The whole world around her seemed to finally stop as her head ceased to pound. Breathing was the first sign that something was wrong with her. It was so instinctual despite never doing it before. She decided to continue doing it as she slowly opened her eyes. Their was a gasp as she looked up to the rocky ceiling above.
"Arcee can you hear me?" Optimus called to her.
Arcee chuckled and nodded. Turning her head she looked at him only to see he was taller than normal. Can you look to be an extra 10 feet higher so did everyone else except the humans who had seemed grown up to her height. Concern immediately flickered onto her face as she looked around more only to find she had shrunk to human size.
"What the hell?" Arcee said in shock as June stepped close.
"Easy now, just take deep breath's and relax" The nurse said look in her right in the eyes.
Arcee suddenly felt uncomfortable and quickly pulled up a hand do not find metal but flesh and bone. Her eyes went wide and a gasp escaped her lips.
"What happened!?" Arcee asked panicking. "How did I end up like this!!?" She added gesturing to her now human body.
June helped her sit up and pulled her close in an effort to comfort the autobot who just wanted answers.
"The relic we found did it" Jack said from the side catching her attention.
Arcee looked at him to find he was also her height. It was all so strange and surreal that one moment she was normal and now she was this. A human.
"I remember now, this is funny and all but I really don't like being like this" She said fumbling with her words.
Ratchet cringed knowing she was going to rake him over the coals for this.
"We can't right now, it's sustained too much damage and I won't risk it" He said facing her.
Arcee suddenly looked angry but quickly cooled upon laying eyes on the small device. There was a massive dent in the side and several gashes in the metal work.
"How long?" Arcee asked hopefully.
"If I start tomorrow may be a month or two" Ratchet replied honestly. "Then there's the reality I might not be able to fix the damn thing" He added warningly.
Arcee suddenly felt light headed. A month!. She was beyond dismayed. The idea of spending a month as a human was enough to rattle her confidence. Bulkhead who was examining the relic the relic pod and telling Ratchet what it was made from much to the medics surprise.
"The pod looks to be 7 million years old, One of the old prototype models I think" Bulkhead said softly.
"Thank you Bulkhead that will help in figuring out what was damaged and how bad it is" Ratchet said in a state of shock.
She couldn't believe her own ears never had she thought that he and bulkhead could put their brains together. If Airachind found her like this then it would be game over. Suddenly a hand fell upon her shoulder and she looked to see Jack who was amused at having her like this. She was now on his level.
"You find this funny don't you?" Arcee accused.
Jack could only smile.
"Welcome to the human race hope ya like it!" Miko said on the verge of laughter.
{at least she isn't the smallest as a human} bumblebee beeped jokingly.
Arcee glared at the japanese girl and she the scout as they laughed.
"Make one more short joke bumblebee and I'll come over there!" She warned him catching him by surprise.
Before he could say anything else however the elevator door opened and out stepped agent Fowler Who had been told everything. He walked over and held a folder underneath his right arm.
"What's that for?" She asked skeptically.
"Your new identity, till we can get you back to normal of course" Optimus explained. "And you'll be staying with June and Jack and shall be attending high school" He added in a non-argumentative tone.
She knew that tone and it was a no go in even attempting to argue with him. Once he used it there was no way he'd budge unless it was better but she didn't have that.
"That's just splendid" she sarcastically said resting her head on her hand.
Fowler chuckled.
"Good to know your sense of humor and sarcasm hasn't taken a hit" he said dryly passing June the folder.
"What's my new name?" Arcee asked shifting attention to June.
June pulled out two cards. She carefully look them over and took note of them.
"Sadie Darby, my brothers daughter...I've never had a brother" June soberly remarked.
"Ya do now" Fowler said with a hardy smile. "And he's taking a vacation" He added.
Arcee felt as if she was between a rock and a hard place and the sides where she could get out were blocked. June chuckled giving the agent a sarcastic tap on the shoulder for his creativity.
"She's off limits now Jack!" Miko laughed some more as Jack blankly looked at her.
His feelings for Arcee were more neutral and he more saw her as a mother rather than a lover. Optimus didn't understand Miko's joke and made a mental note to do some research.
After everything was finally settled Arcee sat in the passenger seat of June's car with Jack at the back and June in the driver seat. No one could describe how surreal it was for her to be in this position, for the other two however it was completely normal whilst Arcee was experiencing this for the very first time. The Nevada landscapes will be moved by as they began making their way to Jasper. June quickly glanced at Arcee who was watching the landscape outside the car window.
"Feeling ok?" June asked her and quickly realized how stupid she sounded.
Arcee keeping calm just quietly responded.
"Strange, i feel strange" She had said dryly.
Jack quickly rest of the hand on her shoulder just to be safe as he leaned in slightly. She now felt alien to her own people, she knew how he first felt along with everyone else who had met an autobot.
"I'll quickly pass" He said optimistically.
Arcee simply nodded and left it at that. After five minutes they entered town and then reached home. Stepping out from the car Arcee moved with Jack to the front door and he unlocked it. Turning on the lights he let her in first. Stepping inside she saw the living room on the left in the kitchen on the right. This was a first for her being inside a house like this. There was a television a small stereo unit too. It was simple.
"Cute" Arcee said amusingly.
"It's not much but she gets the job done" Jack replied with a smirk.
She could see that as she found only 2 bedrooms and a single bathroom. Biting her lower lip she wondered what the two had in mind?.
