Achieving Goals-Chapter 11

The golden couple was on the way to the airport in Hartford. Because they would be in London all summer, Emily and Shira got together to plan a family supper. Of course, this was in Hartford. Logan and Rory ended up spending the night in the Huntzburger pool house. The party was at the Huntzburger Manor. When Rory went to lie down for the night, Mitchum and Logan were held up in Mitchum's office. They were going over some last-minute details.

To say the dinner party was tense would be an understatement. Only the family knew about Mitchum and Shira separating. Mitchum has been living in the pool house for years. He was staying in a guest room tonight. They were in negotiations, so as of right now, Shira was living in the house and Mitchum in the pool house.

"What time did you come to bed last night?" Rory asked. They were sitting in the back of the town car that was taking them to the airport.

"I don't know. I know that as soon as I closed my eyes, it seemed like it was time to get up." He told her.

"Do you think Mitchum kept you in the office last night so that you would not have time to…. defile his bed?" Rory asked. Logan looked at her to see if she was kidding. Mitchum didn't care about his sex life. Rory was having a hard time keeping a straight face. She finally started laughing. This caused Logan to laugh. He was shaking his head. This was going to be fun.

Rory received a call from her mom before the dinner party. She told her she had not told Richard or Emily, nor had they told Francine about the engagement and they would appreciate it if they would keep it mum for tonight.

"So you're telling me you want me to keep my mouth shut when they hint that Logan and I need to be married? Mom, them pushing me and Logan to marry is a problem for me. I have a solution to that problem. When they start, I will just bring up the fact that you and Dad are finally getting married. My problem is solved for the moment." Rory told her mom.

"Rory, please. I will have your dad buy you anything you want. Just name it." Lorelai told her. Rory laughed at her.

"Mom, I can buy anything I want. Remember." Rory told her.

"Yeah," Lorelai said in defeat.

But this conversation was mute. Gigi told them all as soon as they sat to eat. This caused the tension to worsen. Logan was tempted to blurt out that Mitchum and Shira were getting a divorce just to pull the heat of Chris and Lorelai.

They were now on the plane. Logan and Rory both were asleep.

Rory was dreaming of weddings. She dreamed that she and Logan were getting married. But when she got to the end of the aisle, it was Mitchum at the altar waiting on her. She woke up with a start, causing her to fall off the bench seat she was sleeping on. This caused Logan to wake up. She was just staring at him. Then she got up and hit him on the arm before she went to the bathroom.

When she returned, Logan was sitting up in the seat. She sat down beside him. She put her head on his shoulder. They stayed like that for a few minutes before Logan couldn't take it any longer.

"Ace, why did you hit me?" He asked. She looked at him, then smiled.

"Because, I dreamed we were getting married, but when I got to the end of the aisle, it was not you. It was Mitchum." She told him. He just looked at her and started laughing.

"But that still does not explain why you hit me." He said.

"It was your fault." She told him.

That was the last they spoke of it.

There was a car waiting for them when they landed at Heathrow. They were taken to the apartment. This apartment was bigger than the one they had in New York. It had been a while since Logan had been in the London apartment. He showed her around, and they unpacked. He showed her where the takeout menus were kept. You know the important stuff.

"Hey," He said as they were finishing up eating. "You want me to show you where I will be working?" he asked.

"Sure," she told him. "That way, I know where to find you." She told him with a smile.

It was close enough they could walk. They walked down the street hand in hand. They stopped at several little stores and window shopped. Logan didn't have to report to work until Monday morning. It was Saturday afternoon. He planned to take Rory on a tour of the city.

When they entered the building, there was no one at the receptionist's desk on the first floor. When they got to the elevators, he pulled out his key card. This will allow him to enter the elevators and access the executive floor.

"I will get you one of these as soon as I get settled." He told her. She smiled at him. He showed her his office. He booted the computer up. He looked around the office. There would have to be some changes. He would have the conference table removed and a smaller one put in here. He wanted to change out the chairs that sat in front of his desk. It could use a coat of paint as well. He would be sure to make notes. All of this could be done over the weekend. He would get with the office manager and set something up.

When they left, the sun was already going down. He called for his car service. He was not too keen on them walking after dark, at least not until he was more familiar with the area.
