Achieving Goals-Chapter 20
Monday morning, when Logan got to the office, Mitchum was there. He was trying with all he had to get to the office before him. But he failed. Logan was so early that he beat Jon in, but not Mitchum. Logan had just got settled in when Mitchum entered his office.
"Good morning Son, I thought I would see you more this weekend, but I understand you took Rory to meet Harry." He said.
"Yeah, she was excited. I thought I would get her away from her family for a few hours." Logan told him.
"She doesn't want her parents to get married? Is there a problem?" Mitchum asked.
"She is fine with them getting married. She is worried because they don't have the best track record. She is worried about Gigi and she is still upset that her mom nor her dad called to tell her they were getting married Friday. She had to find out from Steph, or maybe it was Honor. I'm not sure. I just know it wasn't her parents." Logan told him. Mitchum nodded his head.
"Well, I have a breakfast meeting this morning. I was just going to let you know. I have also set up a lunch meeting I would like for you to attend with me. I checked your calendar online and didn't see anything scheduled." Mitchum told him. Logan nodded his head.
"Just let Jon know. I probably won't be at my desk. I am meeting on the tech project today on the 12th floor. We have taken over the conference room." Logan told him. Mitchum nodded and walked toward the door. He stopped at the door.
"Logan, I just want you to know I have talked with several of the older employees. I am not spying on you, but they all seem to think you are growing into your role at this company." Mitchum said as he walked out the door.
Logan sat there for a while before Jon entered to go over his calendar for the week. He needed to remind Jon about being off Friday for the wedding.
Logan and Ian were working in the conference room they had claimed when they first started the project. Logan was not sure where everyone else was. They had been working for over an hour when the door opened and in walked Geoffry, loudly as usual. Logan and Ian both looked up when the door opened, but returned to what they were doing.
Geoffry took charge. They told him about the progress they had made. Logan and Ian both had a few new ideas they were researching.
"Just put them in writing and email them to me." Geoffry told them. "Logan, have you got something better to do? You keep looking at your watch."
"As a matter of fact, I do." Logan told him. Before Geoffry could answer, Jon knocked on the door. When the door was opened, Jon and Rory were standing there.
"Hey Ace," Logan said as he stood up. Before he or Jon could say anything, Geoffry spoke up.
"Yeah, Hey Ace," Geoffry said. "Come on in and interrupt us. We have nothing better to do." He was standing up.
"I have a lunch meeting." Logan told him as he was walking to the door.
"You know, you have a lot of meetings. You are missing a great deal when it comes to this project. I think maybe it is time to find someone that does not have meetings all day." Geoffry said. Rory's eyes got big. She could see Logan's face turning red.
"Yes, I have a lot of meetings." Logan told him. He was calmer than Rory expected.
"Oh, come on, don't you want to show off for your girl?" Geoffery said.
"As I was saying. I do have a lot of meetings." Logan told him. "But I have yet to fail at turning in reports or ideas for this project. I am carrying my weight, but if you would like me removed from this project, I just happen to know the CEO is in town and will be stopping by today. I could set up a meeting for the two of us." He then turned and walked out of the room.
"Ace," He said while they were walking back to his office. "What do I owe the pleasure? I wasn't kidding. I would love to have lunch with you, but dad wants me to attend a lunch meeting with him and someone."
"Mitchum called me. He wanted me to meet him in your office. He said he wanted me to attend a lunch meeting. He told me to dress appropriately." Rory told him. She was smiling. "Did he think I would show up in shorts and a tank top?" She was laughing.
When they got to his office, Mitchum was just getting off the elevator. They stopped and waited on him. When he got closer, he spoke.
"My meeting got canceled, so I thought the three of us could have lunch together." Mitchum said.
"Let me get my jacket." Logan told him and walked into his office.
The three of them enjoyed a pleasant lunch. Mitchum told them both the terms of the divorce. He told them he had already talked with Honor.
"Shira is to pick out a property that she wants. I will sign it over to her. She will still get spousal support until she remarries." Mitchum was laughing. "I'm sorry, Logan, that is your mother."
They dropped Rory off at the apartment and both Huntzburger men went back to the office. Logan was on his way to his office and Mitchum his, when Logan heard Geoffry approaching Mitchum. Logan has not told him about Geoffry and any of his encounters. Logan turned back around and followed Mitchum and Geoffry to Mitchum's office.
When Logan reached the door, Geoffry saw him for the first time.
"Sir, this is the young man I would like to talk to you about. Logan, have you met Mr. Huntzburger? He is the CEO." Geoffry said. He was facing Logan and could not see Mitchum raise his eyebrow. Logan smiled. He didn't answer.
"If you are going to be discussing me, I believe I should be in this meeting." Logan said. Geoffry laughed.
"That is not how it works." Geoffrey told him. Mitchum cleared his throat. He believes Geoffry forgot he was there.
"Let him say. That way we can take care of it all at once." Mitchum said and entered his office followed by Logan and Geoffry.
