Achieving Goals-Chapter 22
Friday morning came faster than anyone wanted. Rory and Logan were both up early. Rory had to get to the Gilmore Estate. She wanted to help her mom get ready. She also needed to help Gigi get ready and run interference between her mom and grandma.
Logan went to the office to work until noon. He will stop by the apartment and pick up his tux, then meet Rory at the Gilmore Estate.
Rory on the other hand was running around. She was handling bridesmaid's duties as well as running interference. Gigi was excited. Her nanny, Opal, flew in this morning. Rory was also trying to get to the point she could take her to the apartment and show her around. But it didn't look like that was going to happen.
Before she knew it, Logan arrived. She was so glad to see him. He brought her a coffee and a sandwich from the deli down the street from the apartment. She loves the sandwiches from there.
"Logan, I am so glad to see you. Oh, you brought lunch. Thank you." Rory said as she grabbed the bag and coffee. She kissed him to thank him for being there for her. They sat and she ate her sandwich.
"Hey, do you think you have time to take Opal to the apartment and show her around?" she asked Logan. He looked at his watch. It was just 1:00. The wedding didn't start until 4:00. He nodded. "Good, I will go get her and introduce her to you. Did we do the right thing by agreeing to babysit while they are on their honeymoon?"
"Yes," Logan told her as he stood and kissed her. "We can see what it is like to have a child." he smiled at her and walked out the door with the trash from her lunch. She just sat there. Is he ready for a family. No, can't be. I still have too much to do. I haven't finished grad school yet. She shook her head. She needed to get those thoughts out of her head.
She introduced Logan and Opal. He took her to the apartment to drop off her luggage. He brought her back to the Gilmore Estate. She would be attending the wedding and helping with Gigi during the reception. The reception was being held in the ballroom.
Before he left the apartment, Rory called and asked if he could pick up Sookie and her family at the airport. They were flying in on the Hayden Jet.
"Sure Ace, do you want me to drop Opal off first?" He asked. He was thinking the town car he was using as a car service may not hold everyone.
"Yeah, that is probably best. Wait. Hold on a minute." She told him. She could hear her mom yelling something at her. "Logan, I am back. Can you call a car service to pick them up? Maybe two? Mom tells me she doesn't know who will be coming from Stars Hollow."
"Sure Ace, You said the private air strip at Heathrow?" Logan was verifying. She told him yeah. "I will also meet them. To make sure everything goes smoothly.
When Logan returned to the Gilmore Estate, he had Opal, Sookie, Jackson, Davey, Martha, Andrew, Gypsy and Kirk with him. The whole ride back to the Estate he was laughing to himself. This is going to be an interesting wedding.
The wedding went off without a problem. The reception is another thing. It was not bad, but as Logan alluded to earlier, it was interesting.
After all the pictures were taken, the family made it to the entrance of the ballroom. It was full. Rory would never understand the power of Emily. Emily, Richard and Francine entered the ballroom and were greeted by several associates. Then Logan and Rory were announced. Logan had Gigi on his hip. She was tired, but she told Logan she wanted to dance with him. She was clinging to him. Of course everyone thought she belonged to him and Rory.
When Lorelia and Christopher were announced, they entered and the dance music started. They danced to 'Endless Love'. Half way through the song the MC announced the couple would like all lovers to join them on the dance floor. Logan danced with Rory and Gigi. It was a sight. He didn't care.
After all the traditional dances, everyone was on the dance floor. Finn now had Gigi dancing with him. Rory and Logan were seated on a bench on the wall. They both were tired. Opal had several times tried to get Gigi to come with her, but she didn't want to miss any of the action.
Everyone was seated for the meal, when Richard stood up, along with Emily and Francine. He made a great toast about first loves returning. After they sat down, Rory stood up. She had Gigi on her hip. She walked to stand behind her parents.
"As I am sure you all know, I am Lorelia Leigh Gilmore Hayden and this is my sister Georgia Virgina Hayden. I prefer Rory and she prefers Gigi. We would like to thank everyone for attending the reception of our patrent's wedding. This was a long time coming. Young love has a way of withstanding time. Mom, Dad, we love you and wish you the best." Rory said in finishing.
Gigi got down from Rory's hip and kissed her dad and aunt Lorelai. After they were seated, the meal was served.
