Here's a treat. 2 chapters back to back. I already have 39 chapters written. After reading some reviews, I went back and changed and added stuff to the unpublished chapters. Your input helps me. Sometimes when I have writer's block, I just type until someone posts a review and asks a question. Thanks for your reviews.

Achieving Goals-Chapter 34

The minute Lorelai and Chris got to the Manor, she started pestering Rory to tell her their news. Throughout Thanksgiving Dinner, Lorelai kept whispering in her ear. At one point, she and Logan swapped seats.

While Emily, Richard and Francine are having coffee in the sitting room. Rory and Lorelai were sitting around the fire pit on the patio. They were waiting for Chris and Logan to join them.

"You know if you are pregnant, me and your father knowing ahead of time can help distract everyone." Lorelai told Rory after dinner.

"Mom, I am not telling you. You can find out with everyone else." Rory told her.

"So, you are pregnant?" She asked.

"Lord No," Logan said. He heard the last part of the conversation as he approached the two ladies. Rory laughed.

"She is trying to get me to tell her." Rory told him.

"Lorelai, I just heard from Dad. They will be here in about 30 minutes. Chill." Logan told her. He took Rory's hand as he took a seat beside Rory.

"Logan," Chris said as he sat on the edge of the fit pit. "If you are proposing, don't you think you should have asked my permission first?" Chris was trying to keep a straight face.

"Lorelai, your mother is requesting your presence in the sitting room." Chris told her. Lorelai reluctantly followed Chris to the sitting room..

Gigi found them about 20 minutes later. They were enjoying the fire pit.

"Rory, Logan, Grammy said to come inside." Gigi told them. Logan picked Gigi up and carried her into the house, with Rory following.

When they entered the sitting room, all eyes were on them.

"Well," Lorelai said. She didn't like not knowing what was going on.

"Lorelai. Give them time to take off their coats and have a seat." Christopher said. He was pretty sure he knew what the news was, but he didn't tell Lorelai.

"I didn't tell them to go outside and freeze." She commented back.

Logan went to the drink cart to fix him and Rory a drink. He asked if anyone else wanted one.

Everyone watched as he handed Rory her drink, and she took a sip. You could hear a sigh throughout the room. Rory smiled to herself. She didn't know if it was a sigh of relief or a sigh of regret.

"Well, As I am sure you all are aware." Logan began. "Rory and I have some news." He took Rory's hand. She squeezed it.

"Before anyone says anything, please let us tell you everything. Then, if you still have questions, we will answer them." Rory asked. Everyone nodded, although everyone in the room knew Lorelai would interrupt.

"After a lot, and I mean a lot, of discussion, Rory and I have decided to stay in London." Logan said. Lorelai opened her mouth, but Chris stopped her.

"I have enrolled in Oxford." Rory said. "I will continue my graduate studies at Oxford."

"I am taking over as CEO of the European division of HPG. I will be headquartered out of the London office." Logan told them.

"Mitchum. You knew about this and did not tell me." Shira said.

"She gets to talk and I don't," Lorelai said.

"Please calm down. Both of you." Logan said. Lorelai gave him a look that said 'don't talk to me like that.'

"I will be working for the Sun as well as doing some freelancing." Rory told them. Lorelai and Emily both were mumbling under their breath. Logan and Rory exchanged looks. Logan squeezed her hand. He told her he would do the next part, but she told him she needed to put on her big girl panties.

"I'm sure everyone is trying to guess why we made this decision." Rory said. "I was not Mitchum pushing us. I know that is what everyone will think. Mitchum agreed with the proposal after we presented it to him."

"After the debacle at the Observer, I, we, think it is best to start over. I can never establish myself as a real reporter as long as I'm overshadowed by Logan and the Huntzburger name." Rory continued.

"In London, no one seems to care that I am Logan's boyfriend." Rory told them.

"They accept us as a package deal." Logan told them. "She will work out of the Sun office, but she will also help me with the running of the European division."

"Mitchum," Shira said. "Are you going to stand here and let her help run the company?" Mitchum turned to Shira and shook his head. She started to say something else, but Mitchum shut her down.

"Shut up Shira." Mitchum said. "This company has nothing to do with you. But if you must know, I have talked with the board. They do not have a problem with it."

"We are going to start house hunting soon. Mom, Grandma, Grammy, I would love for all of you to come help me decorate when we do find a place of our own. You too Honor." Rory said.

"What about me?" Gigi asked.

"Yes, you too Gigi." Logan told her.

"So this is permanent?" Lorelai asked. Rory and Logan both looked at each other.

"Define permanent." Rory said. "Right now, our plans are to find a home, and for me to finish school at Oxford." Rory paused and looked at Logan again. He nodded.

"We also plan on getting married in London." She told the group of family. Emily and Francine both started talking at once. Lorelai was silent.

"So, you have proposed?" Christopher asked. He did not see a ring on her finger.

"No, not yet. As we said previously. Being engaged will bring the spotlight to us. Rory wants to establish herself as a talented reporter before she takes my name." Logan told them.

"I don't want to get married until I finish school." Rory told them.

"So, we may never see you get married." Emily stated. Rory looked at her with a confused look.

"We will not live forever. Richard, Francine and I are not getting any younger." Emily said. She was saddened that she would not be able to see her granddaughter very often.

"Grandma, you have access to several private plans. I know you will visit anything you want." Rory told her.

Everyone seemed to calm down. Gigi told them about her friend in school that did not believe in Christmas. She explained the girl's family is Jewish. She had a hard time saying Jewish. Rory and Logan explained the best they could to a 4-year-old about the different religions around the world.

Rory and Logan stayed with the family for a couple of more hours. They left to meet friends before dark.

Telling the gang about them staying in London was not a big deal. Finn had hotels all over the world. Colin was too busy studying. He was attending Columbia Law. He would not get to see them even if they were in the same city. Steph was okay with it. She said it would give her a chance to visit and shop.
