Achieving Goals-Chapter 35

Logan and Rory arrived in London early Sunday morning. They had spent the rest of their time in the States packing up belongings that could not be bought in London. Christopher told Rory she could keep the penthouse in New York. He would have someone keep an eye on it for them. He wanted them to have a place when they returned to the States.

Logan visited Richard and Chris separately. He told them he would propose to Rory over Christmas. He asked them to help him keep it quiet. He would properly propose, but there would not be a formal announcement until after the 1st of the year. He asked them to help keep Emily, Francine and Lorelai from going crazy planning parties and announcements. They agreed.

Monday morning, despite the jet lag, Logan was up early. He wanted to get a head start on his week. Mitchum wanted to announce to the company that Logan would transfer to the London office and would be slated to take over the European division by the middle of summer. They agreed to make the announcement at the Holiday Gala in London. Logan agreed he thought that would be a possible goal.

Rory had a meeting with her counselor at Oxford first thing Monday morning. She too was up early. She has an appointment with Mr. Coswell at the Sun after lunch. Rory planned to have lunch with Logan in his office.

Logan was just exiting a meeting on the 10th floor when his cell phone vibrated in his pocket.

"Ace," He said. "You have perfect timing. I was just leaving a meeting. Are you picking up lunch or do you want me to call the deli and have the sandwiches delivered?"

"Call the deli. You know what I like." She told him. "I was just calling to tell you I am finished with my meeting at the school."

"Did everything go okay?" He asked. He was worried the transfer would not be as smooth as they both hoped.

"Yes, it went great. All my classes are online. I will only have to attend class for final exams." She told him. "He also said that I might have to meet with my professors if needed."

"Great. I am stepping into the elevator. I will probably lose you. Stop at the desk downstairs. Renea will give you a visitor's pass. Before you leave for your meeting at the Sun, I will get you a permanent pass." Logan was proud of her. He had a good feeling about this move to London.

When Logan got to his office, he asked Jon for the takeout menu from the deli on the corner. Jon gave him the menu and offered to order for him. Logan advised him to call Renea at the front desk and asked her to give Rory a guest pass. He then told him to call HR and have it set up for her to have her own pass.

Jon nodded his head as he was writing down Logan's request.

Rory made it to Logan's office before the food. Jon showed her to the HR department so she could get her badge that will give her access to the executive floor.

When she returned to Logan's office, Mr. Coswell was waiting next to Jon's desk. She smiled when she saw him. She hoped he was not presenting his offer in front of Logan so he could talk approval. Old boys' club. It would always stand.

"Hey, Mr. Coswell. Are you waiting on Logan?" She asked. Jon answered for him.

"Logan stepped to the 10th floor conference room. Seems they are having problems. He told me to tell you to have a seat in his office. The sandwiches should be here shortly. He also told me to tell you to start without him. He didn't know how long he would be. He didn't want you to be late for your meeting with The Sun." Jon told her all this with a smile on his face. He was standing behind Mr. Cosell and was making faces as he talked. Very mature, Rory thought as she tried to stifle a laugh. She had her hand over her mouth, coughing.

Logan returned with the sandwiches. He saw Mr. Coswell talking with Jon and Rory.

"Hey Ace," Logan said, kissing her cheek. Mr. Coswell, did we have an appointment today?" Logan asked.

"No, I was just dropping off some reports and thought I would stop by and say hey." He told him. Logan smiled. All reports could and should be emailed, not hand delivered, but he would not say anything.

"Have you had lunch?" Rory asked. He shook his head. "Tell Jon what you want. He can order it from the deli. Their tuna melt is the best."

"No, that's okay. I will grab something on my way down." He told her. He turned to leave, but Logan stopped him.

"You have a meeting with Rory in an hour. Why not come in my office? You can have your meeting there," he suggested. Mr. Coswell smiled and followed them into Logan's office.

Logan and Rory sat at the conference table, like they had previously, and ate their sandwiches. Rory tells Logan about her meeting with the consular.

"I will call Fredrick. He is the maintenance man for our building. I will get him to make sure we have the highest speed internet. You will be able to do your work from my office." Logan told her. They talk for a few more minutes. When they finished their lunch, Logan returned to his desk and Mr. Coswell had a seat at the conference table upon Logan's urging.

Logan was well aware Mr. Coswell was here because he wanted to talk with Logan about Rory before the meeting. Logan refused to play into his hand. Mitchum might have done business like that, but Logan didn't.
