Dozens of gasps sent Ben's eyes to the pop of the flair. Its trails disintegrated against the black sky, fizzling out in the inky water that was mere feet from spilling over the bow.
"Is that a precaution, too?"
Her wide eyes swallowed the last of the shimmers in the air, hands slipping from adjusting her life belt. Ben began to feel the people coursing around them.
"No."
Three days ago, he knew his life changed the moment he accepted her ticket. By some miracle, Rey did, too.
