It took a bit, but Ash, his mom and Misty have finally moved into Alola. Well, not so much as permanently move but are renting a place on Melemele Island. At most for a year. Unfortunately, Pikachu was still non-functional by the time they had to leave for Alola. Delia and Misty were loving the sight of the full moon lighting up the new backyard of the house. Ash's mom breathed the fresh air in and spread her arms out.

"Ahhh, could anything be more soothing? The first evening spent under Alola's calm moon! What do you think Misty?"

"I agree Mrs. Ketchum. One of my favorite pass times is floating in water while looking at the stars."

"I'm so glad my son is going to spend time on his journey with someone with experience. I hope he treats you well."

"Believe me, if he doesn't, I'll teach him how to." The redhead replied while cracking her knuckles, making the mother nervously laugh while sweating.

"Anyway, I'll go and wake him up. He's known to be a heavy sleeper sometimes." Going inside where a Mr. Mime was sweeping the living room, Delia knocked on his door. "Ash, it's time to wake up sleepy head!" She heard some grumbling. "I know you had a busy day but I don't want you ruining your sleep cycle."

"Fine, I'm coming down." After a few minutes of putting on clothes, Ash and Misty were wearing clothes one would think are unusual for night time, but since it's the tropics, even the nights are relatively warm.

"Man, I can't believe it's already night here." Ash grumbled as he rubbed his eyes.

"We are quite far away from Kanto." Delia agreed. "So, are you excited to meet some new Pokemon?"

"I don't know. What if things go just as bad here?" The boy asked worriedly, but Misty slung an arm over his shoulder.

"Don't worry about it. You've got me. I will make sure nothing gets too out of hand for a rookie like you."

"Sounds great." Ash's mom beamed. "Why don't you two go out and meet some of the Alolan Pokemon? I'd like to meet some myself."

"Sure thing. Let's go Ash." Misty grabbed Ash's hand and dragged the new trainer out of the house before he could utter anything, leaving a giggling mom.

"Misty, you don't need to pull me around." Ash complained as he yanked his hand back. "I can walk around without help."

"Sure, but do you know how to defend yourself?" The redhead laughed. "Listen to me Ash, there's more to being a Pokemon trainer than just having the best Pokemon and winning all the time. It takes work, dedication and time. Follow me." Misty stepped off the steps with Ash following. "The nearest place is Iki Town, and we're going to find out what we can find there."

"How do you know what or where the next place is?"

"Unlike you where you fell asleep on the plane, I read the brochure and studied up on as much as I could about Alola before that." As they approached some tall grass, a normal type jumped out. It appeared to resemble a mongoose with a yellow stripe from face to tail, along with its underbelly. And it did not look happy. Though what made it not too threatening was... it was really small. Only about the length of the teen's shins and barely reaching over their feet in height. It was a Yungoos.

"Huh, this doesn't look so bad compared to a Spearow." Ash chuckled.

"Never underestimate a Pokemon Ash. Let me handle this." But just as Misty was going to send out a Pokemon, three went and stood between her and the Yungoos. One was a brown, ball shaped owl, one was a black and red furred cat, and the last looked like a blue baby seal. They growled at the Yungoos, resulting in it scampering away. The Pokemon cheered.

"Aw, thanks you guys!" Misty cooed as she stooped down with a big smile. "Aren't you three precious?" The Pokemon appreciated her words.

"Hey there, cousins!" The two teens turned to see a well tanned man with a scientist jacket with no shirt and shorts, showing off his chest while he wore a hat and shades. "You must be Ash and Misty, yes?"

"Yeah, we talked on the video phone." Misty answered with a nod.

"You two didn't get hurt, right? I saw my Pokemon chasing that Yungoos away."

"Nah, I had things under control. I was even about to send out a Pokemon of my own before you came along."

"I'm glad to hear that! One should always be prepared when going out! Welcome to Alola, the Pokemon Paradise! That's what I'm supposed to be saying."

"Why would you say that part?" Ash questioned.

"Part of the job. I know we talked before, but let me properly introduce myself. I am Professor Kukui, the Pokemon Professor. People and Pokemon live together everywhere, and Alola is no exception. While this wasn't the situation I have planned, the fact of the matter is these Pokemon are meant for you Ash."

"Me?!"

"Yes, but just one. Let me introduce them. The one on the left is Rowlett. A rather brave owl." Rowlett spun around with a self-inflated presence. "Next is Litten. No matter what, this one is adamant on what he wants to do. Finally is Popplio. Unlike Rowlett, she's real modest about herself." Professor Kukui laughed. "Maybe knowing they'll be with you is why they saved you!"

"Well that's nice to hear."

"Indeed. Go ahead and choose the one you'd like as your partner, cousin." Turning to the Pokemon, Ash thought about it. Rowlett puffed himself up, Litten stood tall to show its pride, while Popplio just tried to look cute.

"Hmmm, I think I'll go with Popplio." The trainer decided. Rowlett went white pale from shock while Litten was disappointed in the annoyed sense. "I think we'd get along the best." The water starter gave a happy bark and a clap as she went to be with Ash, whom stooped down and picked her up to hug her with a smile.

"Good choice." Misty smiled. Litten looked and saw Rowlett on its side facing away from everyone, crying silently so he went and put a paw on his wing, trying to be supportive.

"Now that you have a Pokemon, you can have battles and be considered a Pokemon Trainer!" The professor exclaimed, but Misty spoke up.

"Well, not until I teach him the basics."

"Aw right, of course. Anyway, here's a nice and cozy Pokeball for her." Kukui tossed Ash the spherical device meant to contain her, and Ash tapped it against Popplio so that it wiggled a few times until it clicked. "With that taken care of, let's go to Iki Town."

"Hey, we were going there in fact!" Misty said with pleasent surprise.

"Awesome, woo! It's time for you to meet the Island Kahuna. Truth is, Popplio is a gift from the Kahuna, not me."

"What's a Kahuna?" Ash asked in confusion.

"They're the equivalent of gym leaders in the mainlands like Kanto. I'll explain on the way. We want to say a proper thank you for the gift, cousin. It may not be the only gift you get." After Kukui returned his Pokemon, the three walked to the town.

A/N: Hey, so while I know this is a short chapter, this seemed like a good place to stop and ask, is there any problems with the Ultra games you want me to fix in my new story here? I know there's problems, but I can't tell whether they're actual problems that's a common thing for players or just nitpiks from those that take the games too seriously or critically. And they have to be stuff like character or story or the like. Stuff that are considered game mechanics or programming are generally going to be ignored because it's not a game in story. Let me know in the reviews below what you think of.
