Most of these characters belong to Joanne Kathleen Rowling.
This book is both written as a way to honour and as a way to add what I would think would make the original Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone better, and more in the wonderful accepting image that so many original fans saw in Hogwarts.
This book was not my original idea, instead, it's a vessel accepting my changes and alterations
Dedicated to Alex Adams, who wasn't allowed to read the originals, but could have used a magical world to escape to.
Hedwig was uncomfortable. She had grown very used to being in the comfortable nests of the owlery, and being able to fly and hunt at her leisure, but she was no longer in the owlery. Her partner, Harry, had put her in a cage to make travelling easier.
At the moment, Hedwig's cage was sitting on top of Harry's trunk, in a corner of Wise-Lady-Mentor's office. Harry and Wise-Lady-Mentor were sitting on opposite sides of a desk, talking.
"I know you were having fun with your friends, but this is a conversation we can't put off any longer," Wise-Lady-Mentor said.
"I understand Professor," Harry said. Hedwig could tell her partner was uncomfortable, her aura had grown more erratic, before long it would start affecting the physical world.
"Before, you said you were a trans woman, yes?" Wise-Lady-Mentor said.
"Yes, Professor, I am," said Harry.
Hedwig noticed Wise-Lady-Mentor's aura spiked at that, but she had more experience and control, so she pulled it back in and stopped it from knocking a vial from a shelf.
"And you've unofficially joined the LGBT club already?"
"Yes, Professor, I'm sorry about that."
Hedwig had to help her partner control her aura, it was about to light a pile of papers on fire.
"It's alright, just make sure to talk to me first next time you want to join a club. I would like to be clear, I am not mad at you, I will accept you, but I have a few questions."
"Thank you, Professor. What did you want to know?"
Hedwig was happy to see her partner's aura calm down. It seemed just as ready to affect the physical world, but it wouldn't cause damage.
"First, do you want me to use girl pronouns? Like she, and her, and hers?"
"Yes, please."
Harry's aura turned a vial on a shelf behind Wise-Lady-Mentor pink.
"And a different name?"
"No . . . not yet."
"When did you realize you were trans?"
"A little after Christmas."
"And does anyone outside of the club know?"
"Ron and Hermione, but no one else."
Hedwig could see the tinge of joy her partner's aura had when she thought of her flock.
"And Professor Dumbledore knew?"
"Yes, Professor, he was the one who helped me realize in the first place."
Wise-Lady-Mentor's aura showed just how annoyed she became at that. Hedwig could almost hear the things she was calling Really-Really-Old-Mentor.
"Alright, thank you, Harry. Next, I would like to discuss some things about your housing here at Hogwarts, and a few things about your future."
"I'm not being removed from Gryffindor, am I?" Harry said as her aura shot out. Hedwig couldn't even try to stop her partner from accidentally shattering the same vile she had turned pink
"No, no, not at all." Wise-Lady-Mentor, fixing the vile, looking questioningly at its pink hue, and returning that to normal. "I meant your dormitory."
"Oh, alright . . ."
"But first, your future. I've been made aware that Madam Pomfrey is working on a potion, to halt someone's natural puberty. Would you like to use that as well when it is finished?"
"What -- . . . what does that mean exactly?"
Harry's aura had a clear tint of fear. Hedwig was tempted to screech to distract them. Hedwig knew her partner's aura was powerful, if she stayed bonded her intelligence will be more than that of some humans, she couldn't let it lash out with fear.
"If you went through puberty, you would grow much taller, you would grow chest hair, facial hair, and -- er -- hair in your nether regions," Wise-Lady-Mentor said, her aura showing she was uncomfortable. "You would also likely grow in general."
"I would like to take the Potions!" Harry blurted.
"No need to shout Miss Potter. I believe Madam Pomfrey wouldn't mind also making a potion that would allow you to go through a woman's puberty, would you like me to ask her?"
"Yes!-- I mean, yes please."
Skree! Hedwig voice. Her partner was getting too excited, it didn't matter what she was feeling, something would be damaged!
"Is there anything else, Professor? I think Hedwig's getting bored."
How sweet, she's thinking of me, Hedwig thought, she's wrong, but still.
"Just one more thing, for now, should I inform the rest of the staff? It won't have much of an effect until your next year, but the question still needs asked."
Hedwig saw the flurry of emotions her partner went through, but eventually, she grew determined.
"Yes, that would be alright, and they can use she/her pronouns openly, I'm tired of being called 'he' all the time."
Ah yes, 'he,' the sound humans used to refer to the boys of their species. Hedwig couldn't understand why so many seemed to use it for her partner, can't they recognize their own kind?
"I will be glad to let them know. Have a good day Miss Potter, and I believe everyone's going to the carriages soon; I wouldn't want you to be late.
Hedwig slightly struggled to stay on her cage's perch as her partner carried her cage and the luggage out of the room. Hedwig really disliked the cage, and she voiced it with another Skree!
