Hello there. More to the story, this is set in the time of Eclipse. You may notice some changes from the books/movies but it's to fit my story. Pairings are canon, except for Alice and Jaspar of course. Alice as of right now does not have a partner but will later. I cannot say when there will be updates. I'm doing them when I can, so there may be one or two a week. I'm still working on my Harry Potter story as well.

Standard Disclaimer: I do not own anything recognizable from Twilight, I just love adding my own toys to the sandbox. Any mistakes are my own. Enjoy.

Chapter 2 – Well Damn, that's a First!

"Boss, you have got to be kidding!" I look at him with disbelief. "Right?"

"Ember, you need to do this! It's a firm belief from my resources." Mr. Crowley said.

"High School? I'm 18! Been there, done that, miserable as hell. No…. thank….you!" I said as I walked past him to head up to my room but before I even got to the stairs he started.

"December Skye you will turn and listen at once!"

*I really hate that voice* I turned to look at him. I looked at him hard. He was already old when he found me. He was much older now. All the training he put me through is showing. Not just with me. Six years is not that long, but here at headquarters, seemed like 20 passed by instead.

"Don't give me that look Ember. Now, my sources say there's two, but there might be more. So be vigilant and keep your head down."

"Sigh…So I'm really going? Why can't you send someone else?" I rolled my eyes.

"Ember, you are the youngest we have. But the strongest. It's your…."

"Yeah, yeah, my duty." I hate that word.

"This might even lead you to YOUR vampires. You never know."

I couldn't argue with that. Maybe I'm just tired. "Ok, fine. When do I leave?"

"Tonight."

Well damn.

I cannot, I repeat, CANNOT believe I'm going back to high school. Much less in Forks, freaking Forks, Washington. Tons of rain, tons of clouds, tons of trees. No, I'm kidding I LOVE this weather, but I'd rather be in Seattle. I can't understand why vampires would pick this place. It would be much less conspicuous in a bigger city. But alas, perhaps they're dumb vampires. I like them dumb. They make me laugh.

"Here you are miss."

I look out the window and see a small dirt road, barely visible, leading towards the back of a small forest of trees.

"Really Kindsy? This is it?" I asked in disbelief.

"Mr. Crowley gave strict instructions. The less visible you are, the better. He said there's a small cabin half a mile in. There's a vehicle parked there as well to get you around. The school is about ten miles up north of here."

"Kindsy, it's the freaking forest for crying out loud. Does mud and tires not ring a bell?"

"Miss I'm sure you will be fine. Otherwise, he wouldn't have sent you."

"This is bullshit." I say as I get out of the car. "Tell Crowley not to expect a care package."

"HAHA, take care Ember."

I shut the door and the idiot is still laughing. I stand and just look around as he drives off. I take a big breath in and put my bag on my shoulders and walk into whatever shit lays ahead.

About half a mile I saw a small cabin. Quaint. It had ivy growing all up the walls. Two medium sized windows on each side of the door. I walked up and tried the handle, locked.

"Figures. Now where would the key be?" I mumbled. I looked around and found a note under the foot mat. I opened it and found the key along with a note.

December,

I trust you found everything ok since you are reading this. There is only one key, it opens the front and back doors. Everything that you need is in the cabin. Funds are of the usual, since this more than likely will be a longer assignment, there are additional funds in the drawer of your dresser should you need it. There will be little to no communication. I have issued a laptop for your use. Email me of any updates or when you are done. I will not expect anything from you anytime soon as I trust you will handle the situation as you see fit. However, much time it takes. But if it takes too long, expect an email or call from me. As always, your laptop and phone will be traced as for calls and texts. Good luck.

Mr. Crowley

"Sigh, stuffy old fuddy duddy. Well let's see what this baby has." I got the key and unlocked the door. I walked inside and was not impressed. They've given me nicer places to stay, but I guess here, less is more.

From the front door, there was a small living room, with a tv, coffee table, and bookcase. Off to the right, a small table and two chairs within a small kitchen. Had everything I needed. A fridge, counter space, cabinets, fridge, stove/oven. It's gas which is a good thing. As well in the living room to the left under the window was a desk with drawers where my laptop was. Assuming to do homework. *Cringe*. Off to the back I looked was a small hallway. Leading off the left was a bathroom, typical toilet, sink, shower/bathtub combo. Least there was shelving to put my things. Across the hall there was my bedroom. Decent sized. One window like the ones in the front, could see my car. Queen sized bed, dresser, decent sized closet. One night stand on each side of the bed. Not bad, I guess. Had everything I needed. I checked the drawers of my dresser and at the bottom I found the "funds". Was a shit load of cash, not too sure, but seemed to be thousands.

"How long did he expect this to take?" I thought I'd check the funds on my card too, hopefully not a crazy amount.

"Next time I'm in town I guess." I said as I walked back out to the kitchen to where there was a side door. I unlocked it and looked out. There was my car. A modest little green KIA. I could live with that, not grandma's car, but not rich uncle with a mid-life crisis deal either.

I looked on the kitchen table and there was an envelope. I opened it to reveal my school schedule.

"Forks High School? Really." I put the papers down on the table. I REALLY did not want to do this, but I felt the power in me spark. I HAD to do this. I didn't have a choice. I looked at my left wrist and removed the band. My lotus tattoo glowed. "Yeah yeah, I know. Duty calls."

I got my stuff and put everything away. I didn't have much but could always buy more things. It was Wednesday. So, I only had two more days until the weekend then I could go shopping. October just came so at least I'm not that far into the Semester. See what happens.

The next morning, I got ready early. I didn't want to deal with the drama of being watched as I pulled into the parking lot of the school. I parked as far as I could. I got out and went straight to the office. The lady was kind enough but nosy enough too. I just looked at her and had her stare into my eyes and I told her that I just wanted a fresh start after my parents divorced and told her not to ask anymore questions. I blinked and she blinked too. Acting confused but she gave me all my paperwork and sent me away with a smile.

Being a vampire hunter, has a few perks. You have a small amount of mind control. Super strength, super vision, and a nifty thing to pick up knowledge and not forget it. You also have fast reflexes. Need to keep up with the vampires to kill them.

I noticed some of the kids coming in. I spent the rest of the time in the restroom. After ten minutes the bell rang, and I gave it some time. My first class was Calculus. During this time, I enjoyed the class. I loved math. The teacher wasn't bad, but the subject was easy. Afterall, I went through this already. I went through my morning classes well enough. Although one girl kept talking during Art, Jessica I think her name was. Kept saying how much she loved my hair. 4th period I had free so I spent the time in the library. My least favorite time came around, lunch. I noticed they had a salad bar, which was a nice change.

As I made my way around the bar, I felt eyes on me. And I heard something too.

"That's weird."

"What's weird?"

"The girl, over by the bar, do you know her?"

"No, I think Jessica said she's new. Just started today, I think. Why?"

"Bella, I can't hear her thoughts. Like you, she's blocked to me."

"Really?"

"Nothing at all. Jaspar, can you feel anything from her?"

"No, I can't."

I continued to get my salad and walked outside to sit down. Even though I heard everything they said, I shouldn't of. Considering they were whispering the whole time.

"Humph, that's new." I mumbled to myself as I ate my salad.
