Chapter 4 – My Everything

I just looked at him, and him at me. Neither one of us said anything after his comment for what seemed like forever, but it was only five minutes.

I sighed and went to the kitchen to make some tea. I knew his eyes were following me, but I ignored him.

'What the hell is wrong with me?! Telling a vampire, I'm a vampire hunter. Crowley is going to kill me!' "He's going to kill me. I'm so stupid. I'm going to kill myself and save him the trouble," I mumbled to myself as I made my tea.

"Honey that would be a tragedy," a voice said behind me which made me jump.

"Jaspar!"

"Haha, sorry darling," he said smirking. 'He's smirking at me, how dare he!'

"Ahem, well, don't do it again. Want some tea?" I asked as I poured myself some. I tried not to look at him.

"I don't really drink tea."

I stopped stirring. "You don't drink tea, or is it that vampires don't drink tea?" I asked.

"Well, both. But we do drink coffee. Black. But my sister sometimes puts cream, which she said doesn't come back up too well, but she says it's better when it goes down and will deal with the aftermath of it coming back up."

I looked at him when he said this thinking he was joking. But trying not to get lost in his eyes again and I saw he wasn't. "Oh, I see." I went to sit back down on the couch. He followed me and sat down next to me but kept his distance enough.

I sipped on my tea for a minute before he started.

"A vampire hunter, eh?"

"Not "A" but "The"."

"I thought there were more."

"I'm surprised you know about them at all. Usually when there's talk amongst vampires about hunters, they usually don't last long so talk doesn't get out." I said as I finished my tea. "There are others out there, but agents. I'm the only one that was bestowed with the actual magic and powers. Other humans can be trained to help. Mostly infiltrate the population where there is suspected activity and report back. They can try to take out one vampire, but there needs to be a group of at least six agents to one vampire for it to be successful. How is it that you know about hunters and survived?"

"Well, it's more than that. My family is, well for a better word, unique. I don't know if your boss has heard of my family or not."

"I'm not sure. He didn't send me here for a family of vampires," I say as I put my cup down, "I know your eyes are different from what I've seen. Vampire eyes are always red."

"Well, that's one way. Yes, my family and myself all have gold eyes. We drink animal blood, instead of human. Think of us as vegetarians. That's what makes our eyes gold. Our eyes change depending if we've eaten or not, or by emotion."

"I've seen red, bright red, which means a vampire just fed, and I've seen black. Which when I've come across that, means they're starving. That's really…. Interesting, about your eyes I mean. I've never heard of that. Blood is your natural food. Is it…. hard? I mean, is it hard not to drink from humans?" I was really baffled by what he told me. In all my research I've never come across animal drinkers.

His face became hard, suddenly I felt bad for asking.

"Jaspar, I'm sorry. If it's difficult, don't say anything, I'm sure I'll learn more later."

He looked taken aback by my response. "No, no, December don't think that. I don't mind, not with you."

For some reason that comment made me blush. He saw it too and smiled. I coughed and got up to put my cup in the sink.

"It is hard. For some reason it continues to be hard for me. My other family members, they took to it more easily."

I saw his eyes and his face fall as he told me this. Obviously to still be struggling with it for however many years he has been, is difficult even for me to swallow.

"Well then don't." His head shot up faster than a bullet. If it weren't for my hunter vision, I would've missed it.

"What do you mean sugar?"

"Go back to human blood. It's your natural meal so to speak. I'm guessing animal blood doesn't make you as strong as human blood either, right?"

"Ye…. yes. But you don't understand. Once a vampire has human blood, we can't stop, it's like everything blacks out. The human dies. My father is the only one we've known to be able to stop. He's the one that helped us conform to animal blood."

"Forcing you to be something you're not does not help anything." I said point blank. He looked shocked.

"I mean, what's the story with Bella and Edward. Is he using her as a snack or something?" I hated the thought.

He snickered. "No. No. Bella is Edwards's mate. Actually, his singer too. In the beginning, when they first started dating it was difficult for him to be around her without thoughts of killing and sucking her dry."

"I've heard of singers. I've saved a few."

"Well, after what happened last year, her blood doesn't bother him anymore. She wants to be like us, but he doesn't want her to."

"Well good! Who in the hell wants to be a vampire….by choice!" I shrieked. He smirked.

"She loves him, that's her answer."

"Still not good enough." I mumble. He looked at me.

I sighed, "Look Jaspar, I know I speak frankly and I'm sorry if it upsets you. I don't mean for it to come out wrong. But I see things the way they are. Everything is black and white, or it was until you. Anyway, your father is forcing you to be something you're not. Vampires drink human blood. That's it. Doing something to weaken yourself to try and act human is against all that you are."

"What did you mean by until me?"

"Really, out of all I said, that's what you ask?" I said as I put my hands on my hips and sighed.

I looked at him and his eyes were soft like I had melted his heart.

"I'm a vampire hunter. I kill vampires without a second thought. Once an assignment is given to me, I work on it and complete it." He watched as I walked back and forth as I talked. "You're a vampire. My mark should burn with you here. It pains me to even think of killing you and my mark does nothing with you here." I stopped as he put his arm in front of me. I turned my head and looked up. 'He's so tall.' He was looking down at me.

"You are the most amazing creature I have come to know Ms. Skye. Even though you have hunter powers and magic, you are still very much a human. Your blush, your striking eyes, your person, has me enraptured." I stopped breathing. "You are my mate darling. You are my everything."

Until next time lovelies.
