Chapter 8 -Family Meeting Pt 2

Carlisle and I must have stared at each other for ten minutes. Jaspar pulled me away which caused the eye contact to cease.

"Ahem, well. That is a bit of news, isn't it?" Carlisle said.

"Have something against me already, do you?" I asked.

"Well, it's not every day you come across a hunter, much less the hunter. It's been a while." He sighed.

"You know of hunters then. How, and you're still alive?" 'I can't believe this. Another vampire who knows of hunters and still living. All this is absurd!'

"I believe we're in for a long chat. Please sit down," he indicated to me towards the other couch, across from Bella and Edward. 'Good. Can keep my eye on the twit.' I sat down next to Jaspar. He held my hand the entire time. And I'm not disgusted, disappointed, or even anxious anymore. 'Maybe this mate thing isn't bad. But to quail my instincts like this, I don't know about that. I'll have to research this.'

"Now, you're the first actual vampire hunter I've personally met."

"How old are you?" I asked.

"I was 23 when I was turned, I'm 367 years old." He replied.

"Interesting. So, you've come across hunters before?" I asked.

"Yes. Like I said, you're the first actual hunter I've met. My father, well, he was a priest and a hunter. He led a crusade against vampires, witches, anything unnatural he came across, really." Carlisle said looking down. "l was actually on a mission with him when I was turned."

"I'm sorry." I didn't know what else to say.

"It's fine, it led me to what I am today. I have not tasted human blood. I almost starved when I came across the fact, I could survive on animal blood."

"I see." 'Well, no wonder he's so bent on the others' diet. He's never had to change, so he doesn't understand the struggle of switching. Especially with someone like Jaspar. It's a unique situation. I don't think I like Carlisle either."

"About these vampires that around lurking around. What do you make of them?" he asked.

"I don't know too much about it. I need more notes to go on. But I can help you fight them if it comes down to it. Jaspar said you might need to take care of it before the Volturi get wind of it." I said.

"Yes, that is true. He's not lying. We need to take care of this soon." Edward said. I just nodded, barely registering what I already figured.

"I don't see anything happening before the graduation party. Can we focus on that and then fighting?" Alice said sighing. Rosalie and Bella just shook their heads and snickered. I'm thinking Alice is like this a lot, more showy then substance.

"You're a seer?" I asked.

"I am. I know your question. No, I did not see you coming. I can't tell anything with your future. I'm guessing it has to do with your hunter powers. They cloud you from others. Since Jaspar is linked to you now, I don't see him anymore either. It's very annoying." She pouted.

"Yes, it is." Edward mumbled.

I looked at him, "no one was talking to you nosy."

"I like her," Rosalie said. "December, do you want to become a vampire?" she asked boldly.

I looked at her hard. She just looked me in the eye expecting her answer. "No. No I do not." Just thinking about it makes me sick. She saw my reaction.

She nodded. "Good. Then you may call me Rose." She got up and left. Emmett nodded in my direction, and I responded with my own nod, and he left.

"That was weird." I mumbled.

"This is not a life she wanted. She wasn't given a choice. To her, you're choosing the best option." Jaspar said.

I had a need to look at Bella and she had her head down, frowning. I had a feeling Rose was nice to me only because this type of life isn't what I want. Bella however, her choice is against everything we believe in, it seems.

"Well planning a party is not my thing. I'm going home. It was nice to meet you all. We'll touch base again when we get more to go on." I said as I got up.

"Agreed. You are more than welcome here anytime." Esme said smiling.

"Thank you." I nodded to them all and walked out with Jaspar.

"Edward you really need to get your head out of your ass," Alice said when she thought I was out of earshot. I smirked.

Jaspar and I got in the car and left.

"What did ya think darlin'?"

"Went better than I thought."

"I'm sorry about Edward. I didn't think he'd actually try and get to you. He kept his emotions in check until that point." Jaspar said as he gripped the wheel harder.

"It's fine Jaspar. It's better it happened. Now your family knows I mean business. I may be young, but I can handle myself, as you well know."

"Oh, I know sugar."

Between getting ready for graduation, tests, note taking on my vamps, I have not had any time to do anything else. Whenever Jaspar is gone with his family, hunting, I feel a pull in my chest. It's not horrible, uncomfortable yes. He says it gets better with time, and once I accept it fully, it'll go away, and I'll just feel him when he's near. No pain. I have no idea how I'm going to do that. All the oaths I took. All the things I've learned, trained for even. And I'm mated to a vampire? It doesn't make any sense.

Well one thing at a time. Let me get graduation over with, kill these vampires, then I'll see where this mate thing takes me. If it doesn't kill me first…. that is.

There you go lovelies. Next up, graduation!
