"Please! We'll do anything you ask! Just spare us please!" King Zalaro of Planet 524 tried pleading with Lord Vegeta the Destroyer. It had only been an hour since the deity arrived. Since then, nearly all of the King's territory had been destroyed. Zalaro heard rumors of a God of Destruction, but he never believed they were true.
"You didn't give into my demands, now you can watch your people suffer." Lord Vegeta stated dryly, unamused by the King's pleading.
City streets were now ablaze. Citizens were screaming to get out of the few buildings left standing. The poor survivors ran to the streets, only to find that the entire city had been encased in flames, sealing their fate. The King looked over his decimated city, unable to fathom how one creature was capable of such destruction. Gazing up at the creator of this turmoil, the King falls to his knees.
"I asked you to bring me the strongest being your civilization possessed. You failed to meet my expectations as a society and as a planet in general." Lord Vegeta floated over the demolition he created, slightly happy with his work. "When I ask for something I expect it to be delivered to me."
"Yes, yes! I will get all the world leaders on the phone, just give us some time please!" The King was desperate. Although he wasn't sure if there was someone stronger on the planet, he was more than willing to see if it could buy him some time.
Vegeta looked down, unhappy with the reply from the King. "You shouldn't have wasted everyone's time, you idiot. Now your whole planet is going to pay for your ignorance." A pebble-sized Ki blast fell from Lord Vegeta's hand. Within seconds of touching the earth, the soil began to disintegrate underneath the people of Planet 524.
"Are you ready to go, my Lord?" Gria hovered above the damage created by her Destroyer. Over the many years, Gria hoped she would become desensitized to all of the turmoil and destruction that was going on around her. Being Lord Vegeta's Attendant however, only seemed to intensify the anguish she felt. This planet was one of the few that got a reprieve. Lord Vegeta didn't attack every living being, before Destroying everything left. This fate was left to planets that truly offended the Destroyer. It was moments like today that were a little easier to stomach.
"In a moment, woman. I'm watching my handiwork unfold." Lord Vegeta gazed across the now desolate wasteland. Watching the destruction unfold before his eyes never got tiring. Vegeta couldn't remember how many planets had fallen to him. Over the course of the last million years, he would like to think he was doing his job as it was described to him.
His Attendants not being able to keep up with his habits of destruction weren't his problem. Shouldn't the Palace have stronger beings to watch over the Gods in the first place? Not a single one of his Attendants could keep up with him destroying, or in his training. Most narrowly escape his attacks, much less are able to control them.
It made Lord Vegeta's life become increasingly more dull over the years. If no one stood a chance against him in his current state, what would be the point of training?
As the initial ki blasts reached the core of the planet, the ground began to quake. This caused the roads to split, releasing lava from below. The way this planet looked amidst all this turmoil reminded Lord Vegeta of a certain planet from his past.
Vegeta woke up from a dead sleep. Looking around what used to be a town, he noticed that nothing looked the same. The fight between Goku and Frieza must have taken a turn for the worse. Unable to believe his luck, he strikes a nearby rock with a ki blast. Laughing victoriously, Vegeta punched his side for good measure.
Pain arose from his side and he cried out. His happiness from being alive was too hard to contain. Once he officially came around, Vegeta noticed clashing sounds from the west. Looking in that direction, he sees the fight still commencing. "We might still have a chance." Vegeta says to himself before flying off into the direction of the fight. Only craters were left, water quickly filling them as lava spewed out of random crevices. As Vegeta got closer, he noticed a large green dragon floating near the fighters.
That was when Vegeta noticed him. The once black haired Saiyan was adorning a golden aura along with his hairstyle. It took the Prince's breath away.
"Wow Vegeta! You're alive! Guess it's good I didn't bury you that deep after all."
"My Lord, The planet has been gone for a few moments now. Shouldn't we be leaving?"
It took a few moments for Vegeta to realize where he was. Blinking away the remnants of Planet Namek, Vegeta looked around to see empty space.
"My Lord?" Gria looked at him worriedly. Never before had the Destroyer been so lost in thought.
"I overheard the Oracle Fish the other day, is it true that Kakarot's alive?"
Gria felt her face grow cold as she was put on the spot. "They believe so, My Lord. I wouldn't put a lot of thought in it though. The Oracle has been known to be wrong on occasion."
"That bastard has to be alive. Even though I can't sense him, I just know." Vegeta states, more to himself than his Attendant.
"Why do you wish he was alive so terribly, My Lord? I'm sure there is a training partner out there for you somewhere!" Gria asked reluctantly. There were a few times her Destroyer had mentioned Kakarot. When Gria would ask for any further explanation however, Lord Vegeta's mood always turned for the worst. As withdrawn as her Lord has been lately, she hoped this time she could get some clarity.
A long sigh came from the Destroyer's lips. "He is a nuisance, but the fact was he always pushed me to be my best." Vegeta looked up at the stars, as if he were looking for someone. "A long time ago, I pushed Kakarot away in pursuit of becoming stronger on my own. After defeating countless enemies of the Cosmos, and finally a Destroyer God, I haven't found anyone that rival's my power."
"None of your other Attendants were up to the challenge?" Gria was the youngest Attendant at the Palace. She knew as soon as she met Lord Vegeta, that she was going to need assistance with his training. There were many times she wondered why her father thought she could handle this assignment.
"Of course not. They might as well have been toddlers trying to fight me." Vegeta stated curtly, ending the conversation with his tone. "Let's get out of here, I'm starving."
"Again Goku!"
"Yes! Do it again! That was AMAZING!"
Looking over at the angel that had the pleasure of sparring with him, Goku didn't think he could go another round. For the last 1,000 years, Goku has been assisting the Guards in training. Although it was fun in the beginning; after the last 150 years or so, the new Guards that have been coming through are not presenting the challenge they used to. Even so, both Zeni's seemed to get a kick out of him tossing his opponent around the ring.
"Zeni's, I'm not sure if this poor guy is up for another round." Goku says with a chuckle. He watched his opponent climb out of the rubble they created. Poor guy is going to be feeling that one for a couple of days.
"But we want to watch the fight!"
"Yeah! Fight Fight Fight!"
Kirona dusted himself off quickly. It wasn't like him to get tricked by a simple punch. He barely saw his opponent move, let alone attack. Although the punch left him a little stunned, the Omni Kings wanted to see a fight. "You got lucky! Let's see you land another punch on the mighty Kirona!"
Before the warrior saw Goku move, he was behind him.
"I think this fight would last longer if you tried to get a punch on me instead." Goku stated simply as he flicked Kirona's shoulder. The simple move caused the warrior to spin out of control and crash into the opposite wall.
This is getting boring… Are any of these guys going to give me a challenge? I wish there was someone that could help me get stronger. I wonder if the Grand Minister will have more time to train soon. Goku began daydreaming once again.
Kirona was taken aback by his opponent's arrogance. Never before had someone talked to him like that; even though he was being tossed around like a ragdoll. The Warrior took a moment to dust himself off before assessing his injuries.
"How dare you speak to me like that!" Kirona shouts. "I am the strongest warrior in the Guardian Angel's! I will defeat any opponent that crosses my path!" As Kirona powered up, he let out a mighty war cry.
The sound took Goku to another place. One moment he was fighting Kirona in the Omni King's Palace, the next he's in the middle of the ocean. The place was miles away from any life, with a single island on the horizon. The island held a mansion that would put any World Wonder to shame. It was built by his best friend as a vacation home back in the day. He would spend weeks there with Bulma and her family, training with her husband.
"You got lucky Kakarot, no one lands a punch like that on a Saiyan God like me!"
Goku was startled by a change in the air around him. While he had been daydreaming, Kirona was charging up one of his signature attacks. In the nick of time, Goku pressed his two fingers to his forehead.
The explosion on the other side of the arena was enough to make the Omni Kings' yell in excitement. "Wow!"
"That was a big explosion! Is Goku okay?" Zeni looked around the arena.
"Goku, if you hear me, say 'I'm okay!'" Zeno craned his neck to get a better look.
Kirona didn't see any sign of his opponent as he looked around the battlefield. Even though he would like to believe he got him with that one attack, he knew better. "Where are you.." Kirona's voice was barely a whisper. The attack took much more of his energy than he had planned. It wasn't like him to get wreckless like this.
From above his opponent, Goku chuckled at the little game the Omni Kings were playing. They did this throughout the battle on occasion. The Saiyan wasn't sure if it was to fool his opponent, or maybe they didn't know where he was.
"That was a fabulous display gentlemen!" The Grand Minister states from the corner of the room, shocking everyone there. "I know that this fight isn't over, but unfortunately I need to steal Goku away for a moment."
"Awe! It was just getting to the good part!"
"Yeah, can't this wait?!"
"I know sires, but I need to speak to Goku about the matter we discussed."
From the other side of the arena, Goku chuckles. "We can continue when I return."
"Awe! You promise Goku?" The Omni Kings looked at Goku excitedly.
"Yeah! Promise?" Zeni walks toward him, dragging Zeno along with him.
Before walking to the Grand Minister, Goku made his way to his favorite companions. Smiling at the two Omni Kings, Goku reached for their hands and swung them up and down. This caused them to laugh hysterically, the sound was music to everyone's ears.
"I'll be back soon." Goku says while setting the two deities down.
The Omni Kings looked at each other blankly before reaching out to Goku once more. "One more time!" They say in unison.
The Saiyan was a little shocked by their request, but complied nonetheless. This time, letting the fun last a little longer. The laughter coming from the two small beings in his hands brought Goku so much joy. He had grown attached to the Zeni's after all of his time with them.
As the Zeni's were getting set down, they clung to Goku's arms for a moment. Everyone in the room displayed looks of shock.
"Promise you'll come back and play?"
"Yes! Please Goku!"
Chuckling softly, Goku knelt down next to the Omni Kings. He placed his hands on each of their heads and smiled. "I'm just going to talk to the Grand Minister, I should be back in a flash, little buddies. We can keep playing when I get back. Now Zeni" Goku looks to the left Omni King who perked up.
"I want you and Zeno to play together while I'm gone." Goku looks at Zeno.
"Zeno, make sure you guys find a fun game to play, I know that Zeni likes the games that you pick."
"I do, I do!" Zeni smiles at Goku "You guessed us right again Goku"
Over the years, Goku had noticed very subtle differences between the Kings of the Cosmos. Zeni, the Omni King from his timeline, was usually the one to speak first. Not only that, Zeno has a habit of doing things the opposite way of Zeni.
"Of course I did! I've been around you two long enough to notice the differences between you. I know you each like feeling special too, so I gave each of you a name!"
"Thank you Goku!" Zeno giggles excitedly.
"Yes! Thank you very much!" Zeni looks at Zeno, taking their hand. "Come on, let's go play!"
"Okay! Bye Goku!"
Those two never cease to amaze me, Goku thought while walking toward Whis. It had been a while since Whis pulled him away from the Omni Kings. The two don't chat often, which made Goku wonder what they needed to speak about.
It was only a few days ago that Whis trained with the Saiyan. Even at that time, Goku thought his behavior was out of the ordinary. There was an angel with him that day, and he seemed shocked to learn about who Goku was. I wonder if this has something to do with that other Angel I met with Whis?
The Grand Minister smiles and bows as the warrior approaches. Then, leads them out of the battle grounds, walking down a hall Goku never normally ventures to.
Pulling Goku out of his thoughts, Whis spoke. "I noticed that the Omni Kings have taken a particular liking to you Goku, I've never seen them as close with any of the other angels."
"I know they love watching me train. They tell me it reminds them of the Tournament of Power we held so long ago."
"Ah yes! The Tournament of Power. That little tournament entertained the Omni Kings for years after it was over. Father once told me they re-watched it on their GodPads until they broke." Whis chuckled while he led them to a tall wooden door with no handle.
Looking at the Minister quizzically, Goku watched as he placed his hand on the door and drew a pattern, causing it to click. "I'm sure you're wondering what I wanted to talk to you about."
"I was. We don't normally talk outside of our sparring sessions anymore."
"I wanted to talk about your position here at the palace." The Grand Minister pushes the door open, revealing a large office. "You have given both of the Omni Kings a lot of joy over the years. I don't think I've seen them happier than the first day you came to the Palace."
Goku looked around the room. Unlike the rest of the Palace, this room resembled one of Bulma's larger libraries. There was a big desk in the middle of the room with papers flying back and forth of their own accord. Large windows with an entire Galaxy to look at were scattered across the space. If the Saiyan was being honest, the space took his breath away. Gohan would have loved to see these books.
"Thank you, it's been fun." Goku states simply.
"Just fun?" Whis looked at the Saiyan quizzically. "It sounds like you're getting bored with your position Goku."
"No!" Goku tries to quickly backtrack, "I have had an amazing time here. I've trained with the strongest beings that have lived. It's exactly what I dreamed it would be. Not only that, I have grown a little attached to Zeni and Zeno. I wasn't there for my kids when they were growing up. Being around the two of them gives me a little of the feeling I got from being a father."
"But?" The Grand Minister interjects.
Goku sighs, feeling a little nervous. "But it seems like the people that are coming for my training aren't presenting the challenge they used to. I can't remember the last time I even used a third of my power! Besides when the two of us spar of course."
The Grand Minister couldn't help but chuckle. It should've been obvious to him why he was getting so bored. Goku was one of the strongest angels in the Cosmos. The only people that would pose a challenge to him were the Omni Kings and the Grand Minister himself. It was shocking that it took him this long to speak up. "I should've known that was the underlying issue."
"Back on Earth, it was different." Goku walked over to one of the windows, looking lightyears away as he lost himself in his thoughts. "Every few years, a strong opponent would show up and I would have to test my limits. Almost every time, I would come out victorious." A small smile crossed his face as he reminisced about the past. "Then Lord Beerus and Whis came to Earth, and that ceiling I thought there was on my power suddenly gets blown open. Vegeta and I spent almost our entire lives training to get stronger, to help each other reach our limits and surpass them."
"When I first got here, I had that same thrill for a long time. The guys I got to train with in the Palace were once again on a completely different level than I was. Even teaching students was a challenge for me in the beginning. I had trained others before, but each fighter had a different technique to bring to the table. They all teach me a little while I'm teaching them. It's just that since I'm so strong, it's hard to find a challenge in what I'm doing. The only reason I really like doing it is because it makes those two happy. It's the game they constantly want to play."
Whis contemplated everything Goku said. Most angels forget their mortal memories within the first 100 years or so of being in the Other World. It shocked him that after nearly a millennium, Goku still had what he would describe as perfect recollection of his mortal memories. There was only one other person that he had met that kept their mortal memory like Goku.
"What would you say if I had a different job that you could take? It will more than likely test your strength like you've been wanting, but it is not the main objective."
Looking away from the window and to the Grand Minister, Goku tried to wrap his head around what he said. "What will I be doing exactly?"
"I'm glad you asked." Whis says excitedly. "Instead of teaching angels, how would you like the chance to watch over a Destroyer God?"
"Wow really? A Destroyer?"
"Yes. It will be your job to train them, ensuring that they perfect their destruction powers. You will also be their attendant, assisting them with whatever endeavor they see fit. This could mean destroying a planet for them."
The shock on Goku's face was apparent. "What?! I don't think I can do that Grand Minister, I couldn't destroy a planet for no reason."
"That's the thing about being a Guide Angel Goku. All Angels keep a neutral stance in this Universe, or they will be eradicated. After playing with the Omni Kings for so long, I thought you would lose your sense of justice. I know you have always been on the side of good, but for this job you cannot simply save a planet your Lord wants to destroy."
The Grand Minister continued."There is a natural balance in this cosmos that needs to be kept. Supreme Kai's create everything in the Universe. Destroyer's destroy in order for there to be more creation. It is an Angel's job to make sure that everything stays in balance. Not fight for justice. You of all people should know how the Omni Kings are when it comes to obeying the rules."
"There is a reason I am asking you to guide this specific Destroyer Goku. It seems that Universe Six's Destroyer has grown too strong for his Angel, several times in fact. Which is why I need you to keep him in line, as well as help him perfect his Destruction Powers."
Goku noticed a small hint of annoyance in the Grand Minister's voice. It wasn't often that you would hear him so annoyed. It almost reminded the Saiyan of the look Whis would get when Vegeta annoyed him.
"If that is what you need me to do, then I am excited for the new challenge!" Although Goku has come a long way in mastering his Ultra Instinct, the thought of a strong Destroyer excited him.
"Fantastic! You will be leaving within the next couple of days. There are a few things we need to go over first." Whis exclaimed as he waved his staff in the air. A staff resembling Goku's old power pole appeared before them.
"This will be your staff. I created it after the staff you showed me long ago. Go ahead and give it a whirl."
A small grin came across the Saiyan's face. It had been a long time since he had an extra attachment. Once it came into his hand he began twirling it between his fingers and hands, tossing it in the air before letting it fall to his hands. "This staff works just like yours Whis?"
"Yes. This staff has numerous functions. You have seen me use a lot of them, but it can do nearly anything you can think of from destroying a planet to storing extra items. This staff is the single most useful tool at your disposal."
Goku puts the staff across his back, keeping it in its normal spot. "So are you going to tell me anything about this Destroyer God?"
The Grand Minister's demeanor changed nearly immediately. "Oh, I think we will wait to make introductions in person." He says with a nervous smile.
Goku gives him a confused look. "Really? You can't even tell me a teeny little bit about him?" The Saiyan held out his fingers, nearly pinching them together. "Just a teeny little bit?"
"Always with the prodding Goku." Whis chuckles. "Go and spend the rest of your night with the Omni Kings. We will leave first thing in the morning."
