I wonder if he's going to try and get out of his end of the bargain. Vegeta thought as he looked out across the lake. Hours have passed since the two Saiyan's returned home, and Goku has made no move to start talking. The Destroyer could smell the delicious aroma of food being produced in the kitchen, so Vegeta wasn't all that mad about the silence for now.
Now he had his eye on a different prize. Spotting an Oracle Fish.
Across the pond, the Destroyer noticed the fish. "Hey Oracle!" Vegeta shouted, causing the fish to jump.
"Yes, My Lord?" The Oracle Fish quickly made his way to his Destroyer.
"I'm curious about something." Vegeta stated. "Those visions you had, I noticed one of them was from a dream I've had."
The Oracle's eyes widened. This only added to their confusion. "Which one? If you don't mind me asking?"
Vegeta sighed, not wanting to look them in the eye. The Destroyer quietly replied. "The one with the marks. I've been having that dream since I was alive in the Mortal Realm."
The Oracle Fish watched his Destroyer as the information was processed. "The Mortal Realm, you say?" This was news to the Oracle. They weren't sure what to think.
Vegeta nodded. "I don't know much about what's going on, unfortunately. Although I am a Saiyan Prince, I was very young when my Home World was destroyed. I don't know the customs of our people. The very small bits of information I have on these marks aren't concrete."
Despair was painted all over the Destroyer's face, shocking the Oracle Fish. Fortunately for Vegeta, the Oracle had knowledge of everything in the Universe. "If I may be of some assistance, I can tell you about Universe Six and Seven Saiyans. I know all about their species. I decided to research them before you arrived. Even though their histories were different, their biology and rituals were strikingly similar. In fact they were nearly identical." The fish smiled slightly.
The Destroyer looked at the Oracle a little surprised. This could give me the answers I've been searching for. "Please, I feel that any information would be helpful."
The Oracle nodded. "Consummation means 'to bring together, or bring to perfection.' When two Saiyans are joined by a Consummation mark, their entire beings are intertwined. They will feel the same feelings, feel the same pain if the other is injured. With this power to anticipate your partner's needs, and even their moves in battle. The pair now compliment each other perfectly.
"There are two different kinds of Consummation marks. The first is the Zen Consummation Mark. This one is the most simple. When two Saiyans are under the influence of a Full Moon, the Blutz Waves cause them to want to mate. The two Saiyans will fight for dominance, before the stronger Saiyan marks the submissive Saiyan.
"The Second is the Kensi Consummation Mark. This one differs from the first in a very simple way. Unlike being under the influence of the Full Moon, these two Saiyans are brought together by something stronger than Blutz waves. Kensi is a very rare type, because the two Saiyans involved will have several dreams about the other. The dreams are sparked after the first time the two gaze at each other. From that moment on, they are linked together through their dreams, until their Consummation is complete. This type of mark brings two Saiyan's together in such a way that their power is multiplied thousands of times, as the two perfectly compliment each other.
"Some say the Kensei Consummation is much more powerful, and ultimately inevitable. As the two Saiyan's won't be able to stop the consummation of their bond. Eventually, they will succumb to their dreams." The Oracle Fish observed his Destroyer, uncertain of how he was going to react to all of this news.
Vegeta felt his hands begin to shake. "The Grand Minister said it's taboo for Destroyer's and Attendant's to engage in things like this. If it's something that's inevitable, how am I supposed to stop it?"
"You have to think of the bright side, My Lord!" The Oracle Fish exclaims happily. "This could just be a recurring dream. From my research, the Saiyans have many different dreams of each other. What if Goku has never had one of these dreams? If that's the case, then there wouldn't be a need to worry! Right?
Not only that, If Kensi is inevitable, shouldn't it have happened by now? I mean it's been almost one million years, My Lord."
The Destroyer sighed as he looked to the sky. He wanted to believe there was some way to stop the two of them marking each other, but his heart was already proving to be losing the battle. "I suppose you're right Oracle. I just can't help but think that after all this time, the damn dream means something."
"All dreams have some sort of meaning, My Lord." The Oracle Fish explains happily. "Some may not hold any significance, but there is always something to be learned from them.
"Take the fusion dream for example!" The fish begins. "The two of you are seen fighting an opponent, and it takes you nearly no time at all to come to the conclusion to use that technique. I've been told on many occasions by the Grand Minister that the two of you would rather perish than fight together. I thought the dream was strange at first. But after looking at the dream objectively, it looks like the two of you harness the power of cooperation after all!"
Vegeta was taken aback by what the Oracle Fish said. It was still true the Destroyer would rather die than receive help, especially from his Attendant. "Fusion dream? What in the world are you talking about? The Grand Minister never showed us a dream where we fused."
The look of shock was apparent on the Oracle's face. "Perhaps I've said too much."
"Dinner is ready! Come eat up guys!" Goku yelled from the house.
As soon as Vegeta's Attendant returned home, he began working on dinner. Knowing the two of them were starving caused Goku to work almost as quickly as his body would let him. Even though the Omni Kings replenished his energy, he was still very tired from the training and battle at the Palace. By offering to cook dinner, Goku bought himself a few more precious moments of time. The Attendant still wasn't sure how he was going to explain this.
What am I going to do?! It's not like I can be like, Hey Vegeta, I've just been having erotic dreams about the two of us since we met, but it's not weird though!
It was then, Goku remembered something Vegeta said while the two were with the Omni Kings.
You really want to lose in front of your precious friends? Besides, I have a few questions."
"I don't think so, Vegeta." Goku chuckled. "We can talk later."
"But who's to say you will. Someone looked pretty guilty in there, as if some of the Oracle Fish's "Dreams" weren't just his?" Vegeta watched his Attendant's composed face falter slightly. This didn't phase him however. "I know you Kakarot. You are just going to try and forget all of this happened. I'm not going to let it happen this time."
The younger Saiyan was beginning to panic. He felt his heart racing as his skin began to tingle. He knows something's up. Vegeta's smart, he knows me better than anyone, he probably read the panic on my face like a book. Goku tried to regain control of his body. There haven't been many times this happened, but when it did, the Attendant knew exactly what to do.
I have to get a hold of myself! Goku thought, taking several deep breaths as he closed his eyes, grounding himself inside the space. There were some dreams I didn't recognize either. The one about the marks seemed familiar to Vegeta. Could they be his?
That single question was enough to calm the Attendant's mind. Even though he would have to do a big portion of the talking, there was still a glimmer of hope that the Destroyer was having these dreams as well.
For the longest time, Goku has tried to figure out what the dreams meant. Other than being the bane of his existence, the dreams seemed to have no significance other than causing wet dreams. At least that's what the Attendant thought in the beginning. As he began to develop a relationship with Vegeta, as a friend and battle buddy, Goku started to appreciate the dreams for what they were.
It was almost as if the Attendant were getting a glimpse into another world. One where, if Goku had it his way, he and Vegeta would be spending their lives together. Although the Destroyer fell in love with his best friend in the Mortal Realm, Goku was hoping for another chance in the afterlife. But after their falling apart on Lord Beerus' world, the Attendant wasn't sure he was ever going to see Vegeta again.
The dreams stopped quickly after their last meeting.
This began Goku's slow downward spiral. He didn't feel like training most days, his will to keep in good condition had flown off the planet. It was a good thing Chi-Chi was still around. She became a pillar for him to lean on. Goku would've thought she was the strongest woman in the Universe, the way she handled him dealing with Vegeta's sudden leaving.
Goku quickly deteriorated. Within weeks, the younger wasn't leaving his room and he refused to eat. Only when Chi-Chi force fed him, did he get a little bit of nutrients. All he wanted to do was sleep. It didn't take long for Goku to pass on to the Other World, much to everyone's surprise. Saiyan's were supposed to live long and healthy lives if they ceased to engage in combat.
If Chi-Chi didn't know any better, she'd say her husband died of a broken heart.
Before the dreams began, Goku thought the relationship between him and Chi-Chi was normal for a husband and wife. It wasn't until after his first dream, and the things he witnessed in the world that he began to question everything. When he would be out among other humans, mostly when Chi-Chi needed him to go shopping, Goku would notice the couple's behavior. He would observe couples kissing, holding hands, doing things for each other Goku never would've thought to do with his wife.
Those were things he wanted to do with the Prince.
As soon as Goku realized he was in Other World, he made his way to the Palace. Thus began his long career as the Omni King's friends and Angel's trainer. There were many times Goku would think of the older Saiyan, but since he didn't sense his ki, the Attendant assumed the worst.
It wasn't until Goku's meeting with Whis that he started contemplating if the Destroyer was alive. Once he realized Vegeta had prevailed all those years ago, all the feelings the Attendant thought died with him in the Mortal Realm came rushing back to him like a flood.
I've really gotten myself into one hell of a sticky situation. Goku thought to himself as he began to finish dinner. No matter what, I have to set my feelings aside. If this job doesn't work out for Vegeta, there is no place for him to go. I can't let my feelings get in the way.
As the Attendant finished cooking, he walked over to the large window. "Dinner is ready! Come eat up guys!" Goku yelled from the house.
It took a few moments for the Destroyer to make his way inside. The Oracle Fish was not far behind. A small sigh of relief escaped the Attendant. When the Oracle joined them for their meals, the time was usually spent in silence. There was no way Lord Veget would bring up what happened in the Grand Minister's office now.
Like Goku predicted, most of their meal was spent in silence. The only sound that could be heard were the sounds of content from the delicious food. It seemed like all too soon however, the Oracle Fish made his way out of the dining room, leaving the two Saiyan's alone once again. The Destroyer continued to eat his meal. To Goku, it almost seemed like Vegeta began to eat faster.
As the Attendant's anxiousness began to get the better of him, Goku looked up from his plate. It was then he noticed the Destroyer looking directly at him. The younger Saiyan's heart skipped for a moment, the look on Vegeta's face was starting to make his skin crawl.
"Vegeta.." Goku begins. "I just want to start by."
"Kakarot." Vegeta cut him off quickly.
The air around the entire room changed. Goku felt chills running across his body while he looked towards the Destroyer.
"I know the sightings of the Oracle Fish are not his alone." Vegeta began as he looked down at the table. "While not many of the images were familiar, one of them definitely was." The Destroyer could feel his hands begin to shake. "The vision the Oracle Fish had was a dream I would have in the Mortal Realm."
The Attendant wasn't sure what to say. In all his years of knowing Vegeta, he never would've thought this was how this conversation would go. "I'm almost ashamed to say this, Vegeta. But, I recognized nearly every single one of those dreams. Except for the one you dreamt."
Now it was Vegeta's turn to be in shock. "When did these dreams begin, Kakarot?"
Goku was silent for what seemed like an eternity. "The first dream happened the night after we first met. They continued for a very long time." Goku was unable to continue looking in the Destroyer's direction. "When I died after the incident with Cell, the dreams became daydreams, as I really didn't have any need for sleep when I was dead." Goku said with a small chuckle.
"The dreams continued when I returned to the Mortal Realm. The only time the dreams really stopped, was after you left Lord Beerus' world." the Attendant could feel his hands trembling at the memory of that day. "If I'm being honest, I don't remember anything about the time between when the dreams stopped, and when I came to Other World for the last time."
The Destroyer sat there in a state of shock. Kakarot has been dreaming of me.. Was the only thought in his mind.
As the realization started coming to Lord Vegeta, he understood why his Attendant had no recollection of that time. The Destroyer began to remember Nappa talking about one of his friends. His soulmate had gotten into a freak accident. Nappa's friend knew as soon as it happened, the news tearing him to pieces. No one heard from him for a few days after they came back from their mission. Nappa recalled finding his friend in his home when he hadn't reported for duty.
If the Destroyer was honest, he also couldn't remember much after he left Lord Beerus' planet. It all seemed like a fog that he couldn't get out of. It wasn't until Lord Vegeta heard rumors about his Attendant being alive from the Oracle Fish, that the fog started to clear.
"Have you had any dreams since coming to my planet?" Lord Vegeta questioned.
"On a couple of occasions, but the dreams I've been having lately are more about us training together than… what the others were." The Attendant answered honestly, still looking towards the floor.
The two sat in an uncomfortable silence for several moments. Neither were really sure what more could be said.
"Kakarot?"
"Yes, Vegeta?"
"Why didn't you tell me you were having these dreams?" Vegeta finally gathered the courage to ask the question he needed the answer to.
"I…" It took a few minutes for the Attendant to answer. "I was so afraid of what you would say." Goku finally stated. "I had always tried to be your friend, and get closer to you. It always seemed like you wanted nothing to do with it. Your only goal was to be stronger than me.
"Why did you treat me the way you did?" Goku questioned. "I mean, if I would've known you were having the dreams too, who knows what our lives would've been like."
Vegeta sat in silence, waiting for his Attendant to meet his gaze. When Goku finally did, the Destroyer sighed. "I, like you, was afraid Kakarot." Vegeta started. "I was afraid of the dreams and what they meant. I didn't know much about the consummation marks, only that they existed and I should stay wary of them. Nappa would tell horror stories of Saiyans that had been bonded with their partners.
"I knew I never wanted to suffer the same fate as those men. Becoming so dependent on one person, that it could cost you your life? It's not something I wanted for myself, and especially for a Saiyan who knew nothing about his home world or the customs there."
Vegeta was unable to keep eye contact any longer. "I told myself for a while that I was doing all of this to protect us. We each had our own lives, wives and children that needed us to take care of them. The dynamic of our relationship was working, or so I thought, and I didn't want to ruin the time I did have with you."
"But you did ruin it, Vegeta!" Goku said in a sudden burst of anger. "You ruined our relationship the day you left Lord Beerus' Planet in a rage!"
"I know." Vegeta felt his eyes stinging, as if he were holding back tears. "I was stuck between a rock and a hard place, Kakarot. I don't expect you to forgive me, I just wish you would understand why I chose to do what I did."
"I hadn't felt true pain until Bulma's death." Vegeta's voice was barely a whisper. "I had lost the person I had spent several decades with. I didn't want to eat, the only relief I felt I was getting was by sleeping through my whole day. It was while I was laying in that damned bed the thought of becoming a Destroyer came to my mind.
"When I first thought of becoming a Destroyer, I knew it was a sure fire way for the two of us to keep sparring together." A small smile crossed the Destroyer's face. "Because I know my Kakarot, he is going to do whatever he can to become the strongest Angel there is.
"Unfortunately." Lord Vegeta sighed. "I lost my temper that day on Lord Beerus' planet. I'm never going to be able to get those years back, Kakarot. I will never be able to undo all of the horrible things I have done to you in order to hide how I felt."
"How do you feel, Vegeta?" Goku spoke softly.
It took a few moments for Vegeta to answer. "We always seem to find our way back to each other, Kakarot. I can't help but think it's more than a coincidence. It's almost as if the Universe wants us to be together."
"Do you agree with the Universe?"
"It doesn't matter whether I agree or not, Kakarot." Vegeta states with a sigh as he stands from the table. "The Grand Minister was clear. If we are to keep our positions we must not act on our feelings. Unfortunately for me, I don't have another position waiting, but you will Kakarot." Vegeta had a sad smile on his features.
The Destroyer silently walks out of the space, leaving his Attendant in an empty room.
