"Are you sure he's here, Goku?"
"Yeah, We've been looking for a long time."
The trio had been walking around the expanse of the Attendant's dimension for several hours. Goku tried numerous times to use his Instant Transmission, to no avail. It began raising alarms in the warrior's mind. Goku couldn't remember the last time his Instant Transmission failed to work. The only time he could recollect it failing, was back in his mortal days after the Universe Six vs. Universe Seven tournament.
"I know he's here, Zeni and Zeno." Goku mentioned to ease the Omni Kings impatience. "Lord Vegeta can't leave this dimension without my staff. Since it hasn't returned to me, this tells me he's using it to train. I know where my staff is, it's just taking a while to get there. Normally my Instant Transmission would be working, but I think this dimension isn't permitting me to use it."
"Why?"
"Is something wrong Goku?"
Goku sighed, their questions were becoming tiresome. All the Saiyan was truly worried about was finding Vegeta. His energy had been extremely erratic throughout their journey. The way it was falling so quickly was making the warrior anxious.
"Nothing is wrong, Zeni." The Attendant mentioned with a smile. "It's just going to take us longer than I planned to get there.
A war cry pierced through the air, signaling to the group they were close. "Ooh! We must be close!"
"Yes!" Zeno exclaimed happily. They took a hold of Zeni's hand before they sprinted faster than Goku thought possible.
The warrior's brows raise in shock. Goku didn't honestly think the Omni Kings could run much faster. He was having trouble keeping up with the duo. The Saiyan was beginning to wonder if they were ever going to find Vegeta. With a war cry like that, the Destroyer must be in one hell of a battle.
This dimension was something truly special. It will conjure any environment in order to improve the Saiyan's skills. Goku noticed a change in Vegeta's energy. His energy is so… angry. What in the world could be going on? The Saiyan never felt the Destroyer's aura so intensely before. Goku was more worried than ever, and began running faster than he thought possible.
Even still, the Omni Kings had a significant lead on the Attendant. This dimension he created always found a way to exploit his weak points.
A second, pained shout came from the Destroyer, causing Goku's heart to race. What happened? Is he hurt? The Attendant's fingers instinctively went to his forehead. Although it was no use, Goku was hoping trying it a twenty-third time would do the trick.
"GOKU!" Zeni screamed.
"COME LOOK!" Zeno looked back, seeing their friend still making his way.
The Omni Kings stood on the edge of a basin. In the center was Lord Vegeta, along with piles of bodies around him. The Destroyer was finishing the last of the warriors as the All Knowing Beings watched intently. Zeno noticed a blue figure that seemed familiar. They were even sporting a similar katana.
"That one being looks familiar, don't they?" Zeno mentioned as they looked at Zeni.
"Yes, the one Vegeta's fighting almost looks like Lord Haile." Zeni curiously watched as the two sparred. The air surrounding them was extremely tense, Haile's katana piercing through it. Her evil laugh began to permeate the air, causing Zeni and Zeno to shiver.
"How did she get here?"
"I don't think it's really her… but it's strange Vegeta would conjure someone that looks exactly like them." Zeni mentions. "I wonder if they know each other."
"There was a being in Vegeta's universe that was similar to Haile. His name was Frieza, right Zeni?"
"You're right Zeno." The being smiled. "The two were enemies until the day Vegeta destroyed him."
The Omni Kings observed as Lord Vegeta slaughtered his way through the group of minions Haile was standing behind. Once they had all been sliced through, only Lord Vegeta and Lord Haile remained. The tension could be felt throughout the entire dimension. Both Destroyer's eyed each other for a long time. The Omni Kings guessed they were trying to gauge each other's power.
A loud thud behind Zeni and Zeno startled them. When they turned around, the two beings saw Goku collapse behind them. The Attendant was trying his best to catch his breath, making the Omni Kings laugh.
"Look Goku! Lord Vegeta has a pair of weapons too!" Zeno pointed towards the bottom of the basin.
"Vegeta hacked and slashed through all of those opponents!" Zeni swung his arms through the air, imitating the Destroyer's axe wielding. "Lord Haile is the only one left."
The Attendant crawled to the edge of the basin, panting heavily. A breath caught inside Goku's throat the moment he noticed the pair of axes in the Destroyer's hand. They looked menacing, like they could tear through anything in Lord Vegeta's way.
For the first time, Goku felt interfering in this fight would only cause more harm than good.
These two were in a league of their own. As the Saiyan looked down at the tense scene in front of him, Goku wondered The Attendant rarely used his staff in the middle of a fight. He never felt the need to, even though the Grand Minister advised heavily to do so.
Boy, I've never felt more helpless… Goku thought as he watched the battle intently. As it raged on, the Attendant noticed his Destroyer was beginning to tire. He was always keeping the distance significant between the two of them.
Out of nowhere, Vegeta decides to toss one of his axes in the air, surprising everyone watching.
"WHAT?!" Zeni screamed.
"WHY'D HE DO THAT?!" Zeno covered his mouth as he began jumping around, his adrenaline pumping.
"Was he trying to use it as a distraction?" Goku questioned as he watched his Destroyer. He wanted to know more than ever what Vegeta was thinking.
"Pathetic excuse for a Saiyan." Haile chuckled. "You're supposed to be a Saiyan Prince?" The Destroyer scoffed. "I've eaten stronger things than you for breakfast. Now you're down one axe because you just decided to throw it to the wind as a distraction? Pathetic."
The words were meant to get Vegeta riled up. As the Saiyan looked around at the carnage however, he never felt more calm. Taking a deep breath, the Destroyer clung to the axes in his hands as he shook the excess blood off the one he still had.
"Then show me what you've got, all I've seen you do is talk shit." A smirk crossed the Prince's features.
"The arrogant ones always fall the hardest." Making the first move, Haile quickly lunges forward.
Vegeta was ready for her advances. He countered her swinging katana, its blade getting caught in the grooves of Lord Vegeta's axe. His fist came up to uppercut Haile in the ribs.
The Destroyer followed through with her swing, cursing when it got caught in that barbaric axe the other Destroyer was wielding. Lord Haile coughed as all the air left her lungs, surprised at how this was turning out.
"Looks like I'm actually going to have to start trying." Haile pulled away from Vegeta's grip, smirking before she attempted to lunge forward again.
Before her katana could connect however, Vegeta's distraction came full circle. The axe had been spinning in the air for several minutes. At the right moment, Vegeta let the axe fall, causing it to sever through Lorde Haile like a chainsaw, effectively cutting her in half.
It worked… It actually fucking worked. Lord Vegeta thought as he stood there, still stunned at the axe embedded in the ground. The sharp edges split Haile right in two. Once the haze of battle cleared his mind, Vegeta could hear the sound of cheering and yelling from his left.
"That was amazing!" Zeni and Zeno screamed. The two jumped into the basin and ran to Lord Vegeta, Goku not far behind them.
"Zeni, Zeno, Kakarot." Vegeta breathed a sigh of relief. The Destroyer let the other axe drop from his hand before he attempted to walk towards them. Vegeta was too weak however, and ended up collapsing to his knees.
Zeni quickly moved towards the Destroyer. They placed their hands on Vegeta's shoulder, fueling him with energy.
"You did fantastic, Vegeta!" Zeno accompanied Zeni in giving the Destroyer their energy.
"How long have you been watching?" Vegeta asked curiously.
"We got here towards the end. We got to see the whole fight between you and Lord Haile!" Zeno happily exclaimed.
"Do you know Lord Haile, Lord Vegeta?" Zeni pondered.
It took a few moments for the Destroyer to answer. "Not personally." Vegeta admitted to the Omni Kings. Moving from his knees to a sitting position, the Destroyer tried to get more comfortable. "The first time I saw Lord Haile was in a dream I had before training this morning."
The Destroyer looked towards Goku, a desperate look in his eyes. "It's almost like it wasn't a dream. More like I was seeing into a reality I wasn't supposed to be seeing. I watched Lord Haile and their Attendant Bourba speaking. They were talking about the tournament we're holding soon. Bourba seemed to have quite a bit of information on the two of us."
"You and me?"
"Yes Kakarot." Vegeta's eyes never lost their intense gaze.
Goku's eyes widened, it wasn't hard to believe an Attendant could obtain the information. The question was, why in Zeni's name would they do such a thing?
"Did anything else happen in the dream?" Goku asked
The memory of the nightmare brought a shiver to the Prince. "She was torturing innocent Saiyan's…"
"Torture?" Zeno questioned.
The Destroyer nodded, the image burned behind his lids. "There's a room in the basement of their home. It had bodies stacked everywhere, blood pooled and stained on the floors. A Saiyan tied to a chair with his tail severed off. Haile was going to kill him, give him the satisfaction of death before ripping it from his fingertips. She then gave him a chance to flee, before stabbing him in the back with that damned Katana."
"That's not nice… Even for a Destroyer." Zeni looks towards his companion. "I think we need to visit the First Universe, don't you?"
"Yes! Let's go right now!" Zeno said excitedly as he took a hold of Zeni's hand. Without another word the two All Knowing Beings disappeared, leaving the two Saiyans alone once again.
There were a few moments of silence. Vegeta was still attempting to catch his breath, and Goku was in complete awe of the man in front of him. Seeing the chaos that was caused in this basin made Goku's adrenaline begin to pump. Does this make Vegeta stronger than me? I've gotta start training and fast if I'm going to bridge this gap he wedged between us.
"That was quite the battle.." The Attendant's focus came to his Destroyer once again.
"I'm surprised you didn't try and interfere." Vegeta mentioned with a chuckle. "Normally you can't wait to get your hands on a new opponent."
"Believe it or not, I felt like i would get in the way." Goku mentioned as his hand rubbed the back of his head, feeling slightly embarrassed. "You were amazing out there, I've never seen you move like that. It's like you were a completely different warrior."
Goku observed the sky above them changing. The blues and whites were giving way to pinks, oranges, and purples. The Moon was making its presence known to the Saiyans below. Goku could feel the blutz waves tingling against his at the Saiyan Prince, the Attendant noticed his torn battle uniform was barely clinging to the Destroyer's frame.
"What are you staring at?" The Destroyer questioned. When he noticed Goku wasn't really paying attention, Vegeta waved his hand. "Kakarot?"
"Vegeta, will you show me how to do that?" Goku pulled himself out of his stupor. "The way you used your axe as a distraction was genius! I've never thought to do that before."
The Destroyer laughed, the sensation hurting his ribs. "You really are something else."
Goku wasn't sure what to say. He felt a heat rush to his cheeks as Vegeta's eyes met his Attendant's once again. "What can I say? I'm always looking for new techniques to learn."
Vegeta slowly rose from the ground, stretching his muscles. He felt most of his energy returned to him. However, the Destroyer was still extremely sore. Although the Omni Kings helped restore his energy, Zeni and Zeno left before Vegeta's wounds could fully heal. "We can train tomorrow, for now I think I need to rest."
Even though Goku wasn't happy with the answer, he agreed the Destroyer needed a good rest after the day he had. The Attendant made his way to the middle of the basin, fetching his staff and putting it back in its spot on his back. The warrior noticed his Destroyer was having trouble keeping his balance. Goku smiled, deciding to startle him and begin carrying him.
"What the hell are you doing, Kakarot?!" Vegeta yelled, completely taken aback by being held like a wounded animal. "I can walk to our base, put me down!"
"Will you just let me carry you?" The Attendant questions, a smirk on his face. "You looked like you were about to fall right back over."
Rolling his eyes, Vegeta looked away from his Attendant, crossing his arms. "I didn't ask for help."
"I know, I'm going to help you whether you ask or not. I'm your Attendant after all." Goku mentions with a chuckle. "It's going to be a pretty long walk. Since you gave it your all in that fight, I figured it'd be a nice thing to do. You seemed like you needed your rest."
Vegeta wasn't sure what to say. This kind gesture was something the Destroyer would normally down right refuse. Being in the Attendant's arms however, Lord Vegeta felt his strong embrace wrap around him like a blanket. The Destroyer felt a warmth he'd been craving for Centuries. Vegeta closed his eyes, allowing the gentle Attendant's embrace to encompass him.
