Chapter 74 The Nannies
"Elizabeth, we need to get back downstairs for the other interviews." He said drawing her in for last kiss. "I can't tell you how bad my body aches to be with yours." He whispered as he released her to go back downstairs. He took her by the hand and they returned to the family room.
"Is everything alright with you two?" Grace asked concern in her voice.
"Yes, mother everything is fine." Elizabeth said taking Amelia upstairs to the nursery to nurse her, while Lucas made bottles for Caleb and Adelaide.
Lucas fed Caleb while Helen fed Adelaide. Then he took him up to the nursery to change his diaper which surprisingly he had gotten quite good at pausing to watch his wife nursing their child. "You are beautiful Elizabeth! I can not be happier."
"I love you Lucas!" She said in response while Lucas took a clean Caleb back downstairs and handed him off to Grace while he took Adelaide upstairs to change her diaper as well. They wanted them to be all fresh and happy when the other interviewers showed up. Elizabeth changed Amelia while Lucas changed Adelaide and they walked back downstairs together.
They had only been downstairs for a moment when there was a knock on the door. "Elizabeth I will let you get it." Lucas said afraid it could be Stacey returning. Elizabeth opened the door. "Hello, I am Elizabeth Bouchard and you are?"
"I am Debbie Jenkins. I am here about the nanny position." She said softly.
"Please come in. This is my husband Lucas Bouchard." She said as Lucas extended his hand for a handshake. This is our family. They proceeded to introduce everyone.
"You have a large household. With so many here, why is it that you are requesting a nanny?" She asked.
"Elizabeth is a teacher and a published author and I own several businesses that have been lacking my attention lately. The triplets are taking up all of our time and it has been hard to get sleep. Our families are only here until after the New Year and then it will be just us again." Lucas explained.
Debbie proceeded to talk about her experience and Lucas filled her in on the job expectations. Both Elizabeth and Lucas liked her. They shook hands and he saw her to the door letting her know that they would be in touch.
Ten minutes later the last interview arrived. They escorted her in, but she seemed really nervous and didn't have a lot of experience. Lucas was not sure about having her around his children, so he decided that was a no for him. They shook hands and he told her they would be in touch.
After they sat in the family room and everyone including their parents put in their two sense, they agreed to give the positions to Katie and Debbie. Lucas went to make the calls and let them know they could start in three days. The only one he didn't call was Stacey and was not sure how to approach that subject. He had yet to determine if she was there for honest reasons although he never seen anything different from her.
Julie followed Elizabeth up to the nursery with Amelia and Addy which Jack had started calling her. "So Elizabeth, how are you doing with the whole Stacey thing?" Julie asked.
"Julie She is from Lucas's past and I need to be able to trust him." Elizabeth said trying to not think about their previous conversation about her.
"Oh it's not Lucas I don't trust. Something about the woman didn't give me a warm and fuzzy. Especially when she said I should have known by the name Bouchard. How many Bouchard's do you know Elizabeth?" Julie said concerned. "I just got the feeling she was not telling the truth. Now she is going to be staying here and working at one of Lucas's businesses. Something smells off. Does that make you cringe?"
"Julie, Lucas and I are going to address the Stacey situation together once we find out more about why she is here. I will admit it does not make me the most comfortable. Lucas will do whatever he can to take care of the situation once we find out for sure what the situation is."
"Lucas, how about we go and talk." His father said ushering him to his home office.
"What is it father?"
"I am concerned about this Stacey woman being here from your past. Tell me more about this situation. I did not get a good feeling about this." His father spoke candidly.
"Not you too father." Lucas said annoyed.
"I am just looking out for you son and want to be objective. Tell me about the situation with her."
"Well truth is I was falling in love with her and she was married to one of my good friends so I disappeared thinking I would never see her again." He spoke directly.
"And yet she is here and her husband is dead. Bouchard is not a common name son. I am just telling you to be careful something does not smell right about this. I think she new exactly who she would find here after reading the ad. Are you still in love with her son?" Jonathan asked sympathetically.
"No father! I love Elizabeth to my very core. I would never dream of hurting her or our family. I will keep Stacey at a safe distance and make sure Elizabeth is with me when she is around." Lucas replied while running his hands through his hair.
Julie and Elizabeth had just finished with the babies and their conversation when they made their way back to the family room along with Lucas and Jonathan, when there was a knock on the door. "Lucas, are you expecting anyone else today?" Elizabeth asked.
"I am not!" He said walking to the door. He opened it and the blood ran cold in his veins at the shock of who was standing on the other side. "Derrick!"
