Chapter 79 Lucas's Revenge
Lucas was lying in their bed, but was getting concerned as loneliness grew inside him. Elizabeth had said she would be right in, but it was now going on thirty minutes. He decided to go check on her and see if she needed help. He walked down the hall to find the door closed and locked, which he found odd. The only time they locked doors in their house was when they were being intimate.
"Elizabeth, are you in there? Are you okay?" He asked expecting an answer.
"I am going to remove my hand and tell him your fine. Don't try anything funny." He said as he pulled out a knife and held it to her throat.
"I am fine darling. I'll be out in a little while." She said emotion in her voice.
"Why is this door locked Elizabeth?" He asked feeling very uneasy about this. He could sense something wasn't as it seemed.
"Tell him the baby was crying and you didn't want her to wake everyone." Derrick demanded in a whisper.
"I didn't want the baby to wake everyone up Lucas. I am fine. I will be out in a little bit." She said but he could tell something was not right. Her voice was higher and strained.
"Okay, I will go back to bed then and wait for you." He said but he was in no way going back to bed. He put his ear up to the door. Everything in his mind was telling him to kick the door down.
"You did well." Derrick whispered in her ear then placing his lips on her neck as her stomach was turning.
"Please stop. Don't do this." She begged.
Lucas heard nothing. He was now absolutely positive this situation was not good. This he was absolutely trained for. He stepped back and with a hard kick to the door around the handle the door flew open. His eyes went red at the sight of Derrick's lips on Elizabeth's neck and the knife in his hand. There was no stopping him. He could see nothing nor hear anything as he charged the man at full speed knocking him to the ground. There was no stopping him. He was on a mission and Derrick would not be leaving his home. Derrick jabbed Lucas one time in the right shoulder, but he didn't even feel it as he punched him in the face over and over and over again and again until blood covered his clothes and Elizabeth was screaming at him to stop. "Lucas stop! You're going to kill him!" He could not hear anything his rage had taken over. Finally Elizabeth grabbed his arm and was tugging on him to quit. "You're right I am going to kill him! He shouted Derrick's body went limp and he was lying there covered in blood. Jonathan came running in from the commotion. "Oh my goodness! What happened Elizabeth?"
"Jonathan, go get Nathan, Bill, and Faith and bring them back here and hurry!" She was hysterical.
Lucas was now covered in blood from head to toe and was sitting against the wall with his knees in his chest and his head in between his legs. His arms wrapped around his legs as he was gently rocking back and forth. His whole body was shaking. Elizabeth was not sure what just happened, but she didn't know if Derrick was still alive. The babies were all now crying. Gladys came running in, but stopped at the door when she saw the mess.
"Gladys, please go get Julie and my parents, quickly!" Elizabeth shouted crying hysterically.
Gladys returned with Julie, William, and Grace. Helen was now there as well.
"Oh dear God!" They all said simultaneously as they put their hands up to their mouths.
"Please take the babies downstairs." Elizabeth asked while they waited on Jonathan to return with Faith, Bill, and Nathan.
Just as they were walking out of the room, Jack came running in. He saw the blood. "Daddy, are you okay?"
Lucas didn't answer. He just sat there. "Daddy will be fine Jack. Go downstairs with Julie."
The room was now clear except for Lucas, Elizabeth, and Derrick's body laying there on the floor. She knelt down in front of her husband. "Lucas, darling look at me." She said cupping his chin and trying to get her to look him in the eye. All she saw was emptiness. She had never seen this side of him.
"Darling, what happened to you? Who was that man? That was not my Lucas." She said.
He said nothing. She pulled him in and wrapped him in her arms. This was a man who was clearly dealing with all kinds of emotions.
"Lucas I need you to talk to me please." She pleaded now worried.
He said nothing. Just then Faith, Bill, and Nathan came running in. "Oh my. What happened here Elizabeth?" Bill asked concerned.
Faith immediately rushed over to examine Derrick, lying on the floor.
"This man held a knife to my throat and was going to do unpleasant things to me, but Lucas saved me." She said as tears filled her eyes.
"Lucas, man are you alright?" Nathan asked. Lucas said nothing.
"What's wrong with him?" Bill asked assuming it was some sort of post traumatic stress.
"Bill there is a bigger problem here." Faith said. "We need to get this man back to the infirmary. I don't think he is going to pull through."
Elizabeth burst into tears. Things could not be any worse at the moment. All she wanted to do was rewind the day and go back to when they were lying in bed all cozy and comfortable.
