Chapter one- The Battle

The night of June 18th, 1996, Harry battled the Death Eaters in the Chamber of the Veil of Death within the Department of Mysteries, and Hermione was down after being struck by means of Dolohov's flame whip. A sprained ankle failed to stop Ginny from fighting; Ron was sitting at the back of the stone benches, out of the way, considering the fact that all he could do was utter gibberish. After recovering from being knocked out by the Death Eaters within the brain room, Luna now served as a crucial ally in holding off the Death Eaters. In spite of using Hermione's wand, Neville fought fiercely at Harry's side.

As Harry, Neville, Luna, and Ginny were starting to get tired, the doors at the top of the room burst open, allowing Tonks, Remus, Sirius, Madeye, and Kingsley into the room. as the reinforcements gave him new energy it was back to fighting for Harry. Due to the distraction, the newcomers had caused, Harry directed Luna and Ginny to go to Hermione and Ron and guard them. Neville's fall to the ground and the red spell coming at him alerted him to the need to intervene; he dodged the spell and asked Neville to join in defending their downed friends.

In the course of the battle, their side took a few hits. They, however, quickly recovered from them. Harry watched as the last few battles were fought. Yaxley, both Lestrange brothers, Avery, Crabbe, Mulciber, Jugson, Rockwood, Nott and Travers, were all attacked and knocked out of the fight. There was a duel going on between Sirius and Bellatrix before the Veil; Remus was duelling Malfoy off to the side.

A moment later, Bella cackled, and her spell struck true, and Sirius fell backwards in the direction of the Veil. Harry did not even think about it and ran after his godfather, Bella threw a spell at Harry, missing, and she then took off running out of the room. Fortunately, Remus managed to seize Harry before he too was able to pass through the Veil. Even though Harry only managed to get his fingers on the archway, something else occurred at the touch.

In a moment, Dumbledore entered and, seeing the Death Veil behave in a completely different manner; he quickly knocked out Malfoy and Dolohov, bringing the fight in the Death chamber to an end; Dumbledore then followed Harry out of the room.

Having not seen Sirius return, Harry pursued Bellatrix. As he entered the hall of Time, Harry realised what he could do. Harry crammed approximately eight time-turners into his pocket and raced after Bella in the direction of the Atrium. Once inside the Atrium, he attempted and failed to use the cruciatus curse on Bella.

As Voldemort and Dumbledore arrived, they both took an offensive stance and commenced to fight in opposition to each other. At the same time as drawing himself behind a column, Harry quickly donned his invisibility cloak and turned a stolen time turner three rotations, sending himself back three hours in time.

Returning quickly to the Department of Mysteries, Harry hurried back into the Hall of Prophecies and made a duplicate of the prophecy sphere in a flash of inspiration. Because the Prophecy was unknown, he did not add any speech, only the grey smoke; he then placed the genuine Prophecy in his pocket. As he walked in the direction of the room with the Arch, he inspected the other rooms within the Department of Mysteries.

As he scanned the room full of brains, he came to a stop. Studying the label on the brain tank, he realised that Ron would be okay. Once more, he entered the Hall of Time and saw something that made his heart race; there was a time-turner with a label that reads "last activated 250 years ago and still functional, maximum time change unknown". After placing this time-turner in his pocket, Harry took a normal time-turner from the wall next to it and positioned it in its place, knowing that it was one of the time-turners he and his friends destroyed as they made their way through later that same day.

He walked over to the Arch after re-entering the death room. While listening to a foreign language he couldn't recognise, he knew deep down that he was supposed to understand it. His examination of the Arch revealed what he identified as ancient runes because of Hermione's books. Because he helped Hermione with her exam preparation, he knew some of them.

There were also runes that indicated transportation, activation, and destination. Despite the fact that Harry did not understand what the runes meant, as he traced along them with his fingers, each one appeared to glow. He became concerned about what had occurred or what may have happened to Sirius as he was tracing them. He had no concept that his magic had been feeding into the runes, which were causing them to activate so Sirius could be properly transported to a safe place.

When the battle once again erupted around him, Harry stood right beside the Veil, helping as he could himself and his friends. As Sirius began to fall through the Veil, Harry followed without care for what he was leaving behind. As Harry emerged on the other side, he stumbled and fell over Sirius, dislodging his invisibility cloak. Looking up, Harry saw eleven children and seven adults. Seeing his parents, both of them dead (or at least he thought they were), as well as eleven children who looked like both of his parents, Harry passed out.

In truth, this Arch, referred to by wizards as the Veil of Death, was, in reality, a small Astria Porta or Stargate. Around 1620, seven beings appeared and constructed an underground location to study magic. This place became the Department of Mysteries, and the Ministry of Magic grew from it, slowly spreading from underground to the surface.

The only reference to them in the historical record is that four females and three males appeared one day in a flash of white light in what is now London. They dug a perfectly circular hole in the ground thirty meters deep using some type of spell. From the centre of the hole, they built tunnels that led to rooms and then, when they had built the tunnels, they closed the hole, leaving the Arch in the centre of the very first room, and the first Floo in an antechamber. As soon as the seven beings had finished, they left, and that is the last record of them.

According to legend, they always spoke in a language that no one could understand but seemed to sound like Latin, and this is the language that people still hear from the Veil of Death to this day. It was in the Department of Mysteries that the first-ever Prophecy created by one of the seven beings was discovered. It was this

"The dog and phoenix shall disappear through cloth,

Both Shall appear in the land of the Flying Horse,

When light and dark, Are both ruled by darkness,

Pheonix shall return to the land of his birth,

After the turning of time,

In which he shall destroy both darkness and light."
