Hello again, dear readers! I see that those of you who have read my story is now getting interested. And remember when I said that I'll be updating a new chapter around next week? Well, I decided to post one right now, since I'm done with it. But as always, there will be more details under. I even read the reviews as always, and I'm really thankful for your first thoughts and your interest to read more on AIR FORCE HERO.
But before that, let's answer some reviews:
Von the Unstoppable – No, not really. I'm actually quitting in making those stories soon, but making a crossover on something else aside from that will be interesting.
CartoonFF – Dude, thanks! I can tell already that you'll be reading more with this new chapter.
wolves567 – Yep, and you're right about the military part not being involved in MHA. Although they show it once in the manga, in the previous, current, and anime wise they never show any interest in the military, and this is the opportunity that I'm taking for this next project of mine.
Enjoy reading!
AIR FORCE HERO
CHAPTER 2: After What Happened
KMA's reinforcements have arrived at the scene when that officer died and where Izuku was blasted from the explosion, and of course, the terrorist leader-turned-mutated Nomu was also part of the incident. The mutated Nomu was already killed with bullet holes and dead open eyes as its cold body was being investigated.
It's been hours ago since they arrived at the destroyed hangar bay, and the sun was beginning to set as well. Some of the staff members and teachers began investigating the scene, since they don't need the help of the police or detectives, meaning that they have dealt with issues like this once. With that being said, the cleaners of the military began their job, which is… well, cleaning.
As the photographer was taking shots of the dead Nomu, there are two KMA members that don't look like the common troops located at the wide exit of the hangar base. One is the same blond man that Izuku talked to for a short time, while another, a Pro Hero Agent, is wearing some sort of tactical attire and was covered by a black and white striped trenchcoat, but was designed to look like a KMA uniform.
"I don't understand how did this even started? The security levels of the Atom can't be this easily taken out." the blond man spoke in despair, feeling worried. "I mean, look how much damage those terrorists caused. If they have spitted up or had more of them, everyone would likely be dead."
"Look, I know that you're desperate about the situation at hand, but as I said, I apologize on behalf for not bringing our Pro Hero Agents, sir." The agent said in a reassuring tone. "Besides, that mutated Nomu was already gunned down when reinforcements arrived, and it will be sent of the science division team for study."
The Nomu that was mentioned is now being seen getting to be driven off after it was placed on a small truck and said truck began to drive off to the laboratory to be studying it.
"Aside from that, the search and rescue team also found a hexagonal-shaped device. It also looked it was a bomb since it's all turned into scraps of metal."
The research-and-rescue team at the corner of the hangar base's exit is examining the bomb that exploded moments before. They seemed curious about what was in it since it still active for a little period of time. How strange.
Blue pupils from the blond man's face were now covered with a disappointed glare. "Do I have to remind you that I can just get here in time and use my Quirk to take out those terrorists? Who knows, we might be able to interrogate them." He argued.
"We've been over this." The agent pinched the bridge of his nose. "You're now retired. You can't even use your Quirk ever since… you know, whatever happened during your last fight."
The blond man's face shifted from disappointment to realization as he sighed at his defense. "Yeah, you're right about that."
The agent was, too, disappointed. Disappointed and saddened to know that a Pro Hero had to retire at this time of the era's current situation. But had to understand that time flies for him to retire.
"Also, I have a question that's important." The blond man asked, breaking the silence. He received a nod from the general as ago. "Wasn't there anyone else aside from the officer that was part of the attack?"
"Yes, there is one that they found lying by the debris. They said that he was lucky to be alive, but was unconscious. They had to rush him to the clinic since he's suffering some light bruises, but he had a fever." The agent explained.
"Well, I just hope he's okay. Because earlier before all this started, I met a nice young man at the entrance base. I just hope it isn't him." The blond man said, worried that it couldn't be him in the clinic.
Darkness was there is in someone's eyes, either their eyes are close, or they're possibly dead. If ever they're dead, then it could be one of the KMA Troopers, who died heroically trying to defend the Atom from those terrorists.
"Hey… wake up… Wake up, kid…"
A voice echoed at the 'kid's' head. He groaned in pain as he opened his eyes slowly to get a better view. Once it's done that, all he saw was a man with aftershave on his face, a scar on the right cheek, and black hair that was cut to a fading haircut.
He was a KMA teacher. Why? Because he was wearing a KMA teacher ID on his Hero costume.
"Are you alright, kid?" the teacher asked. "You were groaning in pain while you were recovering from your sleep. Are you alright?"
"Y-Yeah… a little though, but I'm fine." He answered, and stared at the teacher for a split second only to answer next. "Hey, I-I know you. Y-You're Kamuebi Kurodai. You're one of the KMA teachers on the Hero Course."
"Right where you are. And you must be Izuku Midoriya?" the teacher, Kurodai, asked. The latter nodded in response.
The kid recovering on the hospital bed and recovering was no other than Izuku Midoriya himself. At least he survived the blast. That's good.
"Okay, I'm only going to say this shortly." Kurodai started explaining. "You were found lying on the ground unconscious after reinforcements arrived. The mutated Nomu was about to kill you, but they already took it out before they had the chance. Luckily, you just passed out but had some minor bruises here and there, so I brought you here just in time. You even had a fever, but the doctors said it's temporary, so you're lucky."
"Oh… I think I remembered what happened." Izuku tried to remember, even if he just woke up. "I found a weird-looking bomb when that mutated Nomu dropped it. It somehow exploded, but…" he then realized what more just happened from his accident. "If that bomb exploded, how come I'm still alive?" I mean, he was wearing bandages, but that was a good question.
"Good question. The search-and-rescue team said that the bomb's explosion was just a sonic blast wave that knocked you flying to get you unconscious." Kurodai explained his best.
"Look, I don't have time to answer more questions because I'm needed elsewhere. I actually came here to check on you so that I can discharge you. I already messaged your teacher that you'll be coming back to school after three days so you can recover.
Izuku just listened to what he had to say to him which are very important for him to know. He was lucky to be alive in one piece but recovering to get back in health, and not blown up to smithereens like every usual bomb that exists.
"You should really get going, kid. The clinic's going to be closing anytime soon. Get well soon, kid." Kurodai said as he left the room. Meanwhile, Izuku is still on the bed as he regains the energy to move and get going.
"Okay, also don't mind me asking, but is classes gonna be – Ah!" the green-haired boy groaned in pain after placing his foot down on the ground, which got the attention of the Pro Hero Agent teacher.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The nurse left you a prescription on your bag, in case if you're going to ask her, or anyone here." Kurodai reminded. "You get home safe now. Also, classes will be canceled for two days." He said as he left the clinic when the doors closed.
Later, Izuku is now inside the transport bus as he watched the KMA's reinforcements clean up and repair everything after the attack earlier. He watched as each and everything inside the Atom are all destroyed by the unwelcomed terrorists.
His face shifted into a sorrowful look, hoping one day that he, and several other people inside the school, won't be killed sooner or later. Today, he was lucky to still be alive, but one of these days, he might be killed soon enough. Military academy or not, it's not easy living in those places in college life.
Once the transport bus have arrived at the train station, Izuku, being the only one inside, stepped out and rushed into the train before the doors immediately close, despite feeling some pain after being discharged. As he took a seat when the train started to drive off, he took a deep breath and made himself comfortable.
"Man, I'm lucky today to be alive. If that were a real bomb, then I'd be dead for sure." Izuku metally said. Suddenly, he heard his stomach growl, and it didn't surprise him. "I can stop by at the local diner in Hosu City for a quick bite, and maybe some of that medicine that I need."
KMA Base: Atom…
Inside the command base, one of the staff members was walking by as they are, too, trying to resolve the issue after the attack. Some of the staff members are either scientists or employees working at the hangar bases, but whatever it is, they are all heading outside the command base.
Although, there was one male staff member that stopped his tracks as he observed the area, front and back, before splitting up with the other staff members, only to hide quickly at the corner of the second floor.
As the coast is clear for him, he started to let out some shaky breaths of fear as he took off his face mask. He started to feel a lot nervous and his face started to let out some sweat drops. Also, his nervous face makes it look like that he's about to piss his pants.
"Hey, are you done acting like a chicken? Or are you gonna start telling me what you saw?" a feminine voice spoke, but out of nowhere. The nervous man was shocked to hear her voice as he was startled.
"Hey! Don't sneak up on me like that, you camouflaging whore!" the man whispered yelled, both in anger and in fear, and it really make him look like a loser at some point.
"Will you lighten up a little? I was almost this close to crack a smile on your scared, looking face, Bob." Beside the wall where Bob is standing, a black-clothed woman with a slender figure and wearing a gas-like mask appeared as she turned visible. Some of her revealing skin has her green-scaly skin showing. "Tell me, did you get the information on the Atom's schematics?"
"I don't have it." Bob said in disappointment. "I can't even go stealth mode while I'm just wearing a simple doctor's outfit! Their surveillance is too high, they can tell who's inside the costume or not."
"Well, so much for that small terrorist squad that we're forced to team up with. They look like one alright, but I think they took the word 'suicidal' a bit much." The camouflaging Quirk woman said in sarcasm. Looks like these two are actually working together.
"Well, I think I should the same thing to you." Bob pointed at his 'partner'. "Did you have the schematics on the Atom or not?"
At first, the masked woman chuckled enthusiastically, until she showed him a flash drive on her left hand. "Uh… why do you think I have a Camouflaging Quirk, dumbass? Besides, I knew that you might screw up since you're Quirk doesn't even work well unless you got a good way to use it."
"Hey, it's not my fault that I sucked in being a human shield or whatnot. And I can't just use it all the time, it only works when it activates, okay?" Bob nervously explained, despite acting seriously.
"Whatever, come on, let's go before someone sees us. I don't want to start explaining to anyone that we're cosplayers who got lost." The Camouflaging Quirk woman said as she and Bob started to head out before they caught.
As they finally reached the elevator, Bob and the Camouflaging woman entered the elevator as it began to drop down slowly. As Bob waited impatiently, the woman observed the flash drive on her hand and began to speak out a question.
"Hey, what do you think what's so important about the Atom's schematics, anyway?" the woman asked. "What do you think why would anyone hire us for five-hundred thousand yen on such information?"
"It doesn't matter, Kayla. As long as we have the info on the Atom, we can get paid, and live our normal lives at the same restaurant we work at." Bob groaned in frustration, not wanting to have this kind of conversation with her.
"Hey, I'm just asking, okay? Something like this could be more worth than five-hundred thousand." Kayla pondered. "I'm guessing something like this will cause about cost around… Maybe a priceless painting, or the Mona Lisa type."
"Rragh! All you think about is how much everything you steal, Kayla. Meanwhile, I wanted to go back to my regular job at the restaurant, cause that restaurant owner never pays us!" Bob already lost his cool. "Look, once we leave this stupid place, I'm already getting my half of the money, and I'll be leaving you!"
"My, we sound like we're a couple. The only thing is we're not one, and never will be." Kayla both somehow joked and insulted him, making him even madder about her attitude. "Careful now, you're Quirk might get us both killed, and you can say goodbye to that money of yours in spirit."
Bob already has it. "That's it! I –" before he could argue with her, they both heard the elevator ding as they reached to their destination. Once the doors opened, they both widened their eyes in shock at what they saw.
Standing in front of them was the same adult Pro Hero Agent, the one from back at the hangar base. His face was shifted to a serious look, not because of the two Quirked thieves, but he seemed stressed out.
"U-Uh, hi?" Bob greeted.
"Yes, hello. Sorry to this, but is it okay if I ask you two something? Cause to me, you look like strangers." The general said, in a serious tone.
"Sure." Kayla accepted, not even thinking about the consequences when she asked. "Ask away."
"Wouldn't you have seen two people sneak inside the command base? One of the staff members said when they caught them on the security cameras. I rushed in here to make sure if I can ask someone about it."
The agent asked. The two were now frozen like a deer was spotted by a couple of headlights. They can't just say that 'I don't know what you're talking about, cause they might easily get caught by that answer. So instead, this happened.
"The jigs up! Bob, do your thing!" Kayla yelled in panic but kept her composure.
"Huh? What are you -?"
The adult Pro Hero Agent was interrupted as he was met with a brass-knuckled fist that punched him straight at the chin, blinding him for a temporary time and making him step back, giving the two thieves an opening to escape.
"Seriously, that's what you can do? A straight punch with your brass knuckles?!" Kayla said irritatedly as she started running for her life.
"Hey, I'm the brawns and you're the brains. That's how every two-thieves group work, remember?!" Bob said while running in a weird, lumpy way.
The Pro Hero Agent coughed up some blood from Bob's punching blow, but he was still able to stand his ground without getting knocked out. As he watched the two thieves almost reaching the exit, the agent's eyes shifted from normal jet-black pupils to a target-like shape.
This could be the works of his Quirk.
He watched the two as his Quirk started to the work. His eyes scanned as he noticed two things: One possible weak spot for each of them, and the flash drive on Kayla's left hand. After that, the Pro Hero Agent drew out his heavy-duty revolver and fired three shots. The bullets launched at both Kayla and Bob's left foot, followed by her left hand which made her drop the flash drive.
The thieves tripped after getting hit by the bullets. One of them groaned in pain after they tripped, but they were lucky that their targeted feet weren't bleeding. They were hit by a rubber bullet that came from the agent's revolver.
"Stop right there, Villains. I can tell that it was you two who stole the schematics of the Atom, by just transferring everything straight on that flash drive." The agent stated.
"Wait! How did you –"
"My Quirk guided me if you two were the ones who stole it." The agent's eyes reverted back to their normal pupils. He walked to the dropped flash drive as he kept it in his pockets. "Now, let's talk." He started to walk at them slowly.
"Crap, I can't deal with this now! We were this close to getting our money!" Kayla mentally whined. She noticed an emergency backdoor at her left. "Huh, an exit. And just my luck. Sorry, Bob, but you need to manage on your own, then."
It was a chance for her to escape. She didn't waste any time as she pull out a gun and shoot the ceiling lights, which created a large blinding spark onto the agent's view. Once the sparks are gone, Kayla disappeared, and he only saw Bob trying to escape once again by crawling.
"Damnit, where did his partner go?" the agent mentally asked himself. He walked over to Bob as he fired a signal shot, causing the other thief to stop what he was doing.
"Don't even think about escaping by crawling, you'll just make yourself go slow anyway." The agent placed his foot on top of Bob's back, which made him groan in pain. "You better talk now. What were you and your friend doing in here? Where you part of those terrorists that attacked our base?"
Bob groaned in pain since he was shot on by the leg still. He didn't have any other choice: It's either he faces jail time or he tells him everything he knows. But knowing his role as a Villain is that villains don't tell them anything, since they have a second, and last, the option left on their sleeve.
Bob started to glow on each of his body parts, which confused the agent. He started to look angry as the glowing started to speed up. "You know, its funny, really. There's one thing that you Pro Agents don't know: Is that we Villains have always back up!"
As Bob's body gets covered by the glowing light inside him, the agent didn't know what was going on, until he was met by a large explosion that was met in front of him, seconds by now. As large smoke was spreading the entire hallway, the agent watched as he sees nothing but ashes flying around. It left him with a secured flash drive and zero answers.
Then, KMA Troopers somehow arrived at the scene. "General, what happened? We heard an explosion from the other third floor, is everything alright?"
"Yes, everything is alright, soldier." He stood up and dusted himself. He just now realized when Bob's body glowed, he can tell that he had a Self-Detonation Quirk. It was a smart move to end things quickly, but something that he didn't notice until now.
"If anyone needs me, I'll be at the research labs. Keep an eye on any intruders. Don't hesitate to open fire if you saw any of them. Is that clear?" General instructed.
"Sir, yes sir!" the troops followed.
"Excellent." The general said as he walked away, along with the troops, in different paths.
General Tetsuhata: Kurodai, take the lead.
A message was sent to Kurodai, who read the text and sighed in exhaustion. How was he tired? He was holding a load of theories, experimental results, and other important stuff that was labeled 'TOP SECRET' on front of the folder cover. He took a breath first and started to enter the faculty room.
The faculty room, on the other hand, is as large as a warehouse interior, but the interior was designed to be dark, yet neon-lighted room. The tables were set and placed in a circular formation, where fifteen Pro Hero Agent teachers are present for the very important meeting. Some of them were making themselves busy waiting for the meeting to start.
But all that stopped when Kurodai walked straight to the front center of the seat, he ignored the other seat at the corner, which was supposed to be his, but he knows why he went there.
"Kurodai, your seat is with me, remember? Surely, you don't want to make yourself look like a fool, right?" a female Pro Hero Agent teacher spoke, who has grey and black long hair with horns attached to the side of her head.
"I'm taking General Tetsuhata's place for now," Kurodai spoke out, which got everyone's attention. Everyone stopped what they were doing as they listened to the meeting. "Ahem, as you know, General Testsuhata has called you all for a very important meeting, about earlier, which is the terrorist attack."
"Nonsense, that attack was actually just some old school play, if I do say myself." An elderly bald man with a bushy beard spoke in a nonchalant tone. "If ever, Tetsuhata is just trying to make sure that this was his first time dealing with such a thing, am I not wrong?"
"Actually, for the first time, Professor Basuto, you are wrong," Kurodai said, without hesitation.
Everyone in the room had their looks shifted to shock and awed, especially Professor Basuto. This was something that they usually dealt with: Villains attacking the Atom, but in many different ways possible, that could also end in many different ways.
"As you may remember, five hours ago, a terrorist attacked the Atom when they split up to plant these mysterious bombs in each hangar base." A picture shows the same hexagonal-shaped bomb, that detonated on Izuku.
"These bombs were planted by them and was detonated right after, as a warning signal before they could regroup to the last hangar base. Once they have arrived at the said base, one of our troops tried to take them out one by one, leaving all of them to die in the shootout, except for the terrorist leader. Before one officer died before he could take him out, the leader injected himself that transformed him into a mutated Nomu, but was suddenly trapped by a forklift, and another bomb was detonated by it, which caused the same chain reaction to happen, but differently." Kurodai explained at his best.
"So… you're telling us that…" an armored masked teacher asked, wanting to get to the point.
"Those bombs were not the same one as the other that detonated in the last hangar base." He summarized in a short way possible. This got the teachers' attention. "For your concern about the mutated Nomu, it was already shot down and being examined by the science division team at the research labs for further study."
"So, in conclusion, those terrorists are planting bombs around the hangar bases of the Atom, to what? To start some war to call in their reinforcements? Because if that was likely their intention, they have no idea who they are going to go against with." One black-haired teacher said as he understood the agenda of their meeting.
"Yes, that is correct. However, the search-and-rescue found the detonated bombs in each base and the last one included, as the forensics team understood its parts after sending in the results." He showed them the bomb's blueprints, and another on the last bomb. "As you can see, each bomb was rigged with a napalm-infused gunpowder that could cause more damage and explosion than the normal hand grenade."
"However," he showed them the last bomb, "this bomb was different among the rest. Sure, it may look the same as they are, but what's inside it that exploded isn't napalm-infused gunpowder, but instead, an experimental Nomu formula, which is the same as the syringe that the leader injected himself with. In theory, that bomb could have infected someone."
The screen showed everyone the schematics of the 'experimental bomb' and the syringe, but with the Nomu formula being the same source of what caused the incident. The teachers were now confused and scared that these existed and are made all along, while they were fighting Omega-Villains and Nomus.
"Basically, these two are obviously different than what we have experienced since Nomus and Omega-Villains started to exist in the villain race." One teacher with black sunglasses spoke. "Surely, we all know how the Nomus that we fought are either experimental or bought by mercenaries in the black market. And the Omega-Villains are just villains with other numerous or dangerous singular Quirks."
"I think we know what Professor Iroai means." Another female teacher, this time wearing a hood that also covered her eyes, spoke. "If that bomb isn't like the rest of the bombs with napalm-gunpowder, then surely that bomb could, in theory as the results say, infect some by turning into a Nomu?"
"Yes, I believe so. But we won't say right now that these two are made by the black market or other villain associations around the globe." Kurodai stated. "It could be something else who could've done that."
"As someone who knows anything related to explosions and bombs, it doesn't really matter how long are they made, but the only thing is, how is it made to act like a bomb." One teacher said wearing a pair of red goggles spoke.
"That's… actually a good question from you, Countdown." The hooded female teacher pointed out. "Bombs are made with military expertise, but somehow, it must have been made by someone different."
"Not someone, an entire group itself, that's what you should be saying." The bald man corrected.
"I think we all know what's going to be the answer to this. But since these are made differently, then it could likely be the works of the mysterious cult that's also known for sending out Nomus of their own."
"You're saying that it could be that cult? As in the cult that's making Nomus and sending them elsewhere?"
"Yes," Kurodai said in a depressing tone, but sounded sad and desperate since the only answer is called…
"The Red Hand."
The teachers looked at each other, while some stared at the screen of the Nomu formula with pure fear surrounding their entire souls. Kurodai on the other hand can already tell who made the bomb, and who made the Nomu formula. It was in front of them, and they know exactly who would be responsible for doing this.
A mysterious cult called 'The Red Hand' could possibly start another war.
A war that's so dangerous and life-threatening than the war against All For One himself.
It was already nighttime around Hosu City, where the bust streets are filled with pedestrians walking, cars driving by, and some towering buildings that are huge and rich-like. And to top it, the local train moves on and on as it drops passengers off the city, and drives off to bring them elsewhere.
"Ahh, man I'm stuff." Izuku happily said as he laid back on his seat. He had a bowl of his only favorite meal since he was a kid: Katsudon. Along with a red ice tea as his drink.
"So, did you enjoy your meal, kid?" the waitress said as she picked up the bowl and refilled the glass with red ice tea. The waitress was around her late-thirties and has her hair tied to a ponytail.
"Yeah, I am, thanks. The only diners I always go have the best Katsudon right here." Izuku said with a smile. He really does love the food here.
"Heh, well I'm glad you liked it, kid. Also, you can tip when you're ready, don't push yourself." The waitress said as she left off to tend with other things inside the diner.
The green-haired boy grabbed his bag, which was next to him, as he shuffled in to grab his wallet. He already bought his medications to get healed and all of his other stuff was still inside his bag during his trip to Hosu City. But then, he grabbed his wallet, and hand over 500 yen, and placed it on the table. As he felt ready to head home, Izuku got up and left.
Izuku was now feeling anxious about going to the sidewalk, which is connected to every building in Hosu City. He knew how this goes for him. If he is ever in this part of the Shizuoka Prefecture, he must know that every alley could be filled with gangs, killers, rapists, and all the terrible kinds, with or without Quirks.
"I know I should've just waited for a bus to come by. But I can't! I need to get to a shortcut to reach the train station heading back home, and almost running out of money." Izuku whined and reminded himself mentally. Knowing that he is a college student, he really needs to learn how to make some loose ends with his money, since it's the most important thing to him.
That's where a voice called out from behind, "Stop right there!"
Izuku turned around to see no one behind him and turned back in front of him to see a mugger, holding a knife, approaching at him slowly but menacingly. As more appeared, Izuku stepped back slowly to get away from them as possible.
However, he somehow tripped over a beer bottle and landed on the ground painfully. Ouch! So much for his recovery. As he tried to get up, he already realized that it was already too late for him to run away from them.
The street members laughed their asses off as they see a defenseless Izuku with nothing with him to protect from them. He had been called Deku by his childhood friend and was bullied for being useless, but despite all that, nothing changed when he is already in college.
"P-P-Please, don't hurt me. What d-d-do you want?" Izuku asked them.
The same mugger, holding a knife and smoking a cigarette, told him to stop, bend over his level, and speak in an intimidating way. "Hand over everything you have. Wallet, watch, phone… Anything!" he smiled sadistically, with the knife close to his face.
Once again, cliffhanger as always! What will ever happen to our green-haired boy? Did the explosion do anything to him? What will he do in such a situation like this? Find out more when you read the next chapter (hopefully), which will come soon before the end of the week. And before anything else ends, here is some little trivia I wanna add-in.
The two adult Pro Hero Agents, Kurodai and Testuhata, are actually inspired by some characters from MHA and from other shows outside the anime. Kurodai is actually inspired to look like Aizawa since I got that idea in my head, but he won't have Quirk that will be like Aizawa in general, it'll be different. Meanwhile, General Tetsuhata is inspired by General Ironwood from RWBY, but I decided to give him an eye-related Quirk and a heavy revolver as his main weapon. And no, he isn't a cyborg.
The other teachers present in the meeting with some details are actually gained from the own idea I come up with, but with some visualizations from other characters in other media. The hooded female teachers are inspired to look like Medusa from Soul Eater and the one with the googles and who knows his knowledge about the bomb is actually like Engineer. Now, don't get mad if I'm making this confusing, but that's how visualize them in my head. And the rest that I didn't mention that aren't based on other existing characters, ARE really creative ideas in my head.
So, that's all I can say. Goodbye, and I'll see you in the next chapter.
