AIR FORCE HERO

CHAPTER 3: Gained Opportunity

The street gang members laughed their asses off as they see a defenseless Izuku with nothing with him to protect against them. Some of them have Quirks and some don't, but they are equipped with their own knives or guns respectively.

Izuku, on the other hand, doesn't.

It's pretty obvious since he was really born Quirkless. The green-haired boy had been called a Deku by his childhood friend and was bullied for being useless, but despite all that, nothing changed when he is already in that military academy. In fact, he didn't even partake combat lessons, but just attended some lectures and his main course in piloting.

He also didn't partake in martial arts classes outside school due to his stature and lack of exercise, despite being slim. How sad this was for him.

"P-P-Please, don't hurt me. What d-d-do you want?" Izuku asked them, begging for his life that he doesn't want to get killed.

The same mugger, holding a knife and smoking a cigarette, told him to stop, bend over his level, and speak in an intimidating way. "Hand over everything you have. Wallet, watch, phone… Anything!" he smiled sadistically, with the knife close to his face.

And that's where he realized something, he doesn't have enough money. His phone is the only thing he has for entertainment since he can't bring his laptop, and no way in the earth he has a watch on his wrist.

"L-Look, please, I-I can't just give you my stuff, I needed them an –" Izuku was cut off after he was grabbed by the collar. His feared-filled face was now meeting the gang leader's face, now in a pissed expression.

"You listen here, you little shit! I know you college boys have everything with you! All that expensive gear and everything you really need so you can get a good education!" the gang leader spat on the floor in disgust. "I didn't get into college because I never wanted to! Now hand over everything you got, or I'll gut you like a fish, twerp!"

The gang leader pushed Izuku as he stepped back, avoiding himself to fall again. It's too late for him. He's surrounded by small, but dangerous, gang members and there isn't a single police officer in sight. The worst thing is that Izuku doesn't even know how to fight back since the boy has no knowledge of hand-to-hand combat.

The gang leader twitched the left brow of his eye, feeling really annoyed. "Alright you little shit, you asked for it!" he grinned like a maniac as he, and his cronies, slowly walked at him to let Izuku do what he is told, or he can kiss his organs goodbye.

Izuku didn't do anything but just kept stepping back and back to avoid their distance. However, while he wasn't paying attention, he lost his balance and fell to the ground once more, but dragged his body away from them. So far, this isn't going to end well.

"Look, I was just passing by here so I get to the train station in time. I don't any trouble, just please let me pass!" Izuku begged for his life, and he was shivering.

"Man, you are as stupid as everyone here!" the gang leader insulted when his cronies laughed with him. "This alleyway isn't safe for you, or anyone in Hosu City. I think it's best if we… gut you right now!"

"No, No!" Izuku covered his face with his left arm, while his right was raised in front of him.

Suddenly, there's has been some sort of… something that happened on Izuku's raised arm.

His arm started to glow some small green sparks out of it, but a little and small amount of them popped out. Then, the palm started to create a small spherical-like dot on it, as it expanded to a circle that almost covered his palm, that circle became alike an erupted balloon.

And that erupted balloon shape already broke a hole in a split second and released a gust of wind.

The windblast that came from Izuku's glowing and sparking arm to his palm released said gust of wind that acted out as a jet turbine, but twice its a boost that could send anyone flying away.

However, and literally speaking, the wind blast emitted at the gang leader, followed by his cronies, as they all got blown away by it and crashed their bodies at either the walls, or at the metallic dumpsters that might have braked their backs, or their faces.

Izuku waited for a second to see if his life was about to end until he opened his eyes to see what happened. All that he saw is what made him both shocked and confused to see the street gang members scattered, lying, and groaning on the ground, painfully. And of course, his sparkling arm, which faded back to normal.

"Wh… Did… Did I… do that?" A question that Izuku can only ask himself, but can't even tell since he doesn't have a clue yet.

Realizing what time could it be and seeing the laid bodies on the ground, Izuku started to make a run for it before they could get up. The green-haired boy was still nervous and scared while running. How timid is he?

The gang leader sat up from his ground and watched Izuku run away, which led him to signal his cronies. "Hey! Get your lazy asses up!" his cronies effortlessly sat up and regain back their strength. The gang leader made the first step. "Follow that kid!"

Izuku ran after for his life as he made sure that his feet are still keeping up the pace. Despite not being physically fit, getting terrible at cardio, or passing by some pedestrians, he has no choice to make sure he's far away from the street gang.

Meanwhile, the gang members raced their feet to chase after Izuku, without losing or caring if they bump into someone or something. Never in their life, they were bested by a kid, so they had to make sure to get rid of him so that no one will ever know that they were beaten by a college kid.

"You better get back here, you piece of shit!" the gang leader yelled in pure anger, and not like someone familiar with an explosive attitude. "When I get my hands on you, you're gonna regret making a fool out of us, you hear me?!"

Izuku was now scared shitless even more, and as if he can feel like they were getting closer from behind to grab him. He can feel his sweat getting formed from this running, and he almost sounded exhausted. So, to shorten his escape, he got an idea.

He went to another alleyway in order to get another shortcut. However, what he saw in front of him were two things: A box crate, and a wire fence with no spikes on top. Despite running as fast as he could and getting exhausted, he quickly climbed onto the box and climb as best as he could, right after falling to the ground.

The street gang members stopped running since they were now cornered by the wire fence. They have nothing with them except for their knives and guns, and they're absolutely useless if they would ever try cutting a wire fence.

Izuku was lucky. Catching his breath for about a second, he continued to move his feet to get away from them as possible.

"Damnit!" the gang leader kicked the wire fence. "We were this close to getting him! And how was that kid able to do that? He was skinny!"

"Which one? The air blast thing? Or the fence climbing? Or the running."

"Doesn't matter! We're getting him back and we won't stop until he – Graagh!" he yelled in pain as he was hit by a taser gun, right after landing his body flat on the ground.

The police saw everything. They even had their guns aimed at them. And to add, there were two patrol cars that were parked. Looks like they noticed while they were chasing Izuku.

"This is the police! We have you surrounded! Don't you even try to get cocky with those knives, boys!" one officer warned as he had his sidearm trained at each of them.

The cronies held their hands up. It's a good thing they listened, or they'll be in a lot of trouble. Quirk or no Quirk, they look like they always follow their asshole leader.

"We need more patrol cars, over. I repeat we need more patrol cars at Downhill Avenue. We found those street gang kids who've been stealing stuff in a convenience store. Also, they were chasing after a kid for no reason." An officer responded to his pager.

Meanwhile, inside the train that already left Hosu City, Izuku was sitting on his seat, feeling really exhausted from the running that he endured. Luckily, a few people didn't notice his rapid panting, except for an old man wearing vintage sunglasses with dirty-brown lenses, who was looking at him not in a creepy way, but in a disturbing way.

"What's the matter with you? You tried going on a marathon on a late night?" the old man asked, and he has received a deadpanned look from Izuku as he nodded sideways.

Later, Izuku finally walked back to his apartment. At last, safe and sound! Opening the front door and climbing two floors to his room, Izuku finally reached back to his apartment room.

He grabbed the key, unlocked the door, and entered as he let out his breath in satisfaction. He tosses his shoes away and dropped his bag on the sofa, and he also didn't care if he was dirty and sweaty. All he did was just lay on his bed with an exhausted look on his face.

Breathing in, and breathing out slowly as he felt relaxed on his own bed, the green-haired boy lifted his hands again as he stared at it, with a confused look. He even squinted his eyes to see if he was not crazy.

"How… How did my hand fire a wind blast?" he asked himself that. He just stared at it once more. "Could it be… that I might have… a Quirk?" he thought. His eyes were about to be shifted to an awed one.

Until his tone was almost getting tired, "Or it could be forever temporary." And realizing that it was luck that got in his side.

He just couldn't believe what happened. His right hand fired a strong, gust of wind that somehow saved his life. If there's one thing that he knows about Quirks is that they all start to manifest when the person feels it in their bodies.

But for him? His was different. His arm just let out and popped some green sparks around it, and his palm emitted a wind blast. He didn't even feel that, he didn't even feel his body connecting to the mysterious discovery he noticed.

He needed some sleep. And he'll get his answers soon enough.

Two days later…

Two days had passed. Two days have passed after the KMA's Atom had already solved both of their problems: One was the mutated Nomu which is still being further studied. And two, about the bomb with a virus.

Kamino Ward became a safer place once more after what with the battle between All Might and All For One. After the mysterious villain's arrest and the disappearance of the League, Kamino Ward already removed the League's hideout by demolishing it, making it even a safer city.

Izuku was walking by at the busy streets of Kamino, minding his own business whatsoever except walking and texting at the same time, but he was lucky that he didn't bump into anyone at all.

He got up and left his apartment building around ten in the morning. He took a train ride from Iwata City, to Kamino. He did some map searching at Kamino and wanted to do something while he's around the city. Places that are similar to those target practicing areas. But there's a reason why he's here.

He wanted to test out to make sure if he has a Quirk, or he was just having a hallucination out of it.

He swore that it wasn't a hallucination, and he knows that it isn't. He did see those street thugs groaning in pain and lying on the ground, so it has to be true that he has a Quirk.

Or in another perspective, it was forever temporary. Which he thought last time.

Izuku lifted his head up to see if he already made it. So far, his mouth opened and brows surprisingly lifted as an answer and otherwise.

"That could be the place." He said as he walked further enough to get to it.

Izuku entered at the ground floor of an abandoned construction site somewhere far from the city, and far from anyone who would see him try to activate his Quirk. So far, he did find the right spot to test out his Quirk. The construction crew couldn't care less about the abandoned site and there are numerous stacked cinder blocks and wooden planks everywhere, making them look like target practicing.

So far, he was having a lucky day to get into a place like this, without getting caught by a Pro Hero in plain sight.

Izuku grabbed two wooden planks and set them up before he could start. stood in front of a wood plank, that's being stood in place with another wooden plank under it to support it from underneath. He wanted to start by doing a basic one.

Learning how to do what he did again last time: Blasting a gust of wind.

Izuku did some warms ups by moving around his arms and some stretches. "Okay, okay… you can do this, Izuku. You can do this." He encouraged himself. "Just like what happened last time. You can blast a wind in you."

He did some breathing techniques first, to concentrate on what he's going to do and to clear out his mind. It was the same technique he did when he enrolled on the first day at the KMA Academy in the Atom. Since that day, his heart was a bit shaky which lasted for a week.

But now, he can control himself, and his composure into concentrating to use his Quirk. He wanted this to happen, he really wanted to. He wanted to know if that Quirk of his that appeared like it was from nowhere, is really true or not.

Afterward, he already felt himself getting ready. The first thing that came into his mind is how he activated his Quirk. He raised his arm, followed by his open hand, and from a dot to a sphere his Quirk activated by blasting a powerful gust of wind.

He already got into focus, and shake off his nervousness. The green-haired boy raised his arm and gripped his fist to fully concentrate. After a split second, the only thing that he did was nothing but open his hand quickly. And waited…

And waited…

… and waited for nothing.

Izuku was confused. He thought by just doing that would activate his Quirk, and it should have been doing what it should be doing by now.

"What? It can't…" he said, in an almost disappointing tone. "It can't. I know it worked when I did it." Well, too bad it didn't now.

Izuku didn't give up to test it before confirming to himself that his Quirk was just permanently temporary. He had a thought and remembered a super move from All Might called Detroit Smash.

And that's what he's going to do.

Izuku cocked his entire right arm back with his body moving along to start. Then, he gripped his hand into a hardened fist as he pushed his arm forward with great force at the 'target practice' he's standing in front of.

Again, nothing has happened. At all.

Izuku did it once. He did twice, and thrice until he already stopped to avoid making himself look like a fool for not hitting a wooden plank in front of him if anyone was there to watch him only.

So, what he did is that he decided to try some other punching techniques aside from the former No. 1 Pro's super move.

He did a downward punch with his body moving as well. He threw two punches in a boxing stance. He did a hard, right jab, an uppercut, another hard jab, and some other and repeated punches until he stopped doing it when he tried to catch his breath and groaned in anger.

"Damnit, why isn't it working?"

He couldn't believe it! After doing those techniques of his, nothing! Nothing happened at all and it made him from disappointed, to straight-up frustrated.

"I just couldn't believe it! I know I had in me!" Izuku stated his discovery. "I know I didn't feel it when I emitted It, but why. Can't. I. Do it?!" he punched the wooden plank in anger. "Ow!" he hissed in pain. He realized that the wood he punched was mahogany.

He wanted to yell in frustration but he didn't, since he doesn't want to get a lot of attention outside. The desperate green-haired college boy let out a sorrowful sigh.

He noticed the sun in the sky, and it was still a warm afternoon. He grabbed his phone to see it was already 2:30. He looked sad. He looked sad because he wasn't able to activate his Quirk. What he did for the past few minutes was just all for nothing. was about to set and he decided to walk out from the site to do something else.

Maybe he was right. Maybe it was just a temporary Quirk, that only saved his life.

His last answer was right.

Somewhere in an alleyway, a scientist wearing a normal attire inside a seemingly tattered lab coat, his hair is shaggy and greying to get rid of his black one and has a stressed look on his face. Before he closed the door that he walked into, he looked around the area to make sure if no one is there to see him.

"Those damn cops are now looking for me, all because they think I 'stole' something." The scientist mumbled as he walked his way inside the room. "Oh, bah! They're idiots! Idiots, I say! I needed and will be using it for my experiment!" he sighed in disappointment. "Morons these days."

He wasn't lying about the stealing and the using part. He did steal something while he looked like he was being chased down by the police in Kamino. On his hand was a pink liquid stored inside a test tube that was labeled 'Liquid 219' on it.

He passed by the curtains as he walked going to a large and heavily crafted machine, and placing Liquid 219 into a test tube-sized holder, and starting to type the coordinates on the keyboard. "With this formula, I have with me, my experiment will be a success. I can be hired and selected to a villain organization who needed man-made henchmen with them, and a scientist who will be making them."

As he finished typing in the coordinates, he walked to the blanket-covered table. It looked like it has a person inside it. Smiling with intent, he swiftly took off the blanket sheet to see the experiment that he created. And it was horrifying to look at.

On the steel bed was a slender tall and slender Nomu. Who's body is covered with dark black skin and veiny lines, its skeleton can almost be seen through its tight-like skin, and has the features of a rat and bigfoot were mutated together. What's even weird is that the scientist called it a Nomu, despite not having a brain being exposed.

"You, my most, greatest, and hard-worked creation ever yet, will be my ticket to being part of the villain underground." He said to his experiment with sinister eyes. "And no one, or anyone, will stop you from letting you be seen."

He walked back to the computer as he typed in the coordinates to let his machine's big and long dual syringes inject the Nomu's body. Then, a helmet was carefully inserted on the top of the Nomu's head as it began to spark some electricity on top of it.

"Let's show everyone what you're capable of, my pretty." He whispered creepily as he pushed a red button on the keyboard.

INJECTING NOMU WITH CONCENTRATED AND COMBINED QUIRK FORMULA AND LIQUID 129 IMMEDIATELY. INJECTING NOMU WITH CONCENTRATED AND COMBINED QUIRK FORMULA AND LIQUID 129 IMMEDIATELY.

The Nomu's lifeless body was now being injected with both Liquid 219 that he stole and the Nomu formula that he has in his lab. The syringes automatically injected altogether the Nomu's arms.

In the x-ray screen, the Nomu's blood is now being filled with both formulas altogether they already swim and mixed together as the first part was complete. The scientist watched as he is feeling goosebumps of excitement that his experiment will go well.

FIRST PHASE IS COMPLETE. SECOND PHASE: DELIVERING NOMU WITH STATIC ELECTROTHERAPY TO LIFE. BEGINNING PROCESS.

The helmet that's covering the Nomu's top head started to create a humming sound and some electric sparks, meaning that the second phase of his experiment is now a go.

DELIVERING STATIC ELECTRIC SHOCK AT: 900 VOLTS

The helmet let loose some sparks as it began to electrify the Nomu's top head with dangerous static electricity to give it life. But as far as it goes, nothing happened yet.

STATIC SHOCK DELIVERY FAILED

"Set electricity level at 2000 volts." The scientist responded to the computer.

DELIVERING STATIC ELECTRIC SHOCK AT: 2000 VOLTS

The helmet charged and hummed louder as its static electricity at a higher charge output. Once it started to emit its large amount of electricity, it kept going in order to make sure of the Nomu will be waking up soon.

"4000 volts!"

It charged its exact amount of charging output, but nothing else happened.

"6000 volts!"

And it charged another higher charged output. Its static electricity became wider, bigger, and it looked a lot dangerously.

Then, the Nomu's eyes eventually opened. And growled angrily.

STATIC SHOCK DELIVERY SUCCESS

"Yes, yes!" The scientist cheered in joy. His experiment was now in a complete process and it seemed like it was growling angrily and menacingly at the ceiling. There were no changes despite being injected with a Nomu formula, but that didn't matter for the crazy, happy mad scientist.

"Welcome to the world of the living, my friend." He greeted with a smile. "You will be doing me a favor, but first, I want to know what Quirk you gained during your birth."

Izuku was inside a comic book store and viewed some glorious and fascinating items inside. The comic book store wasn't just selling comic books all day long since it had new items in their small store.

Every shelf from the entrance, the walls, and the counter are filled with numerous and various figurines and action figures. Action figures are similar to some Pro Heroes, both in the country and outside of the world. Aside from that is also filled with collectible items like a lightsaber from Star Wars and a mask similar to the one in Modern Warfare.

Izuku was interested to buy some for himself since he's doing both an errand and something to keep his mind cleared from after what failed attempt to activate his Quirk at the construction site.

Whenever he gets upset and aside from writing down some Quirks on his notebooks when he was a kid, he would usually go in some places like this that are selling comic books or some interesting manga, since it will always cheer him up. And it still did.

"Let's see how much I got left. I think I can buy for myself." However, as he grabbed his wallet to check how much money he has left, he realized that he is money wasn't enough to fit the price that was worth about 1000 yen.

"Oh, right. My money isn't enough for this. Despite getting a job at the food court." He mentally reminded to himself that his money came from his job as a food court employee. The one thing that he can apply in his job in the food court was a cashier. But at least he wasn't complaining about it being a dead-end job.

"But I shouldn't be worried about that. I should be worried that I need to get home and get some extra time to rest back at the apartment." Izuku walked off the store and prepared to get home from the crowded and busy streets of Kamino. He hopes that nothing bad will happen.

BOOM! CRASH! BAM!

Of course, something bad has to really happen.

Everyone in the same street where Izuku, also alerted by the sudden danger, looked at they see smoke appearing far from where they are. Everyone began to notice that there is a figure flying in the sky, which brought Izuku and some people some answers.

"What is that?!"

"Do you think it's a villain?"

"I bet it's a Hero. Let's be positive about it."

"I hope it isn't something worse again." Izuku wished in his head. He already dealt with a terrorist attack and avoided some street gang. What more could it be else among those two?

SWOOSH! CRASH!

The figure that everyone saw crashed landed in the center of the road, which created a giant impact cloud that covered everyone, and Izuku's vision. Once the dust was settled, everyone looked at it only to hear the first screams of terror, alerting everyone in the large area.

"AAAHHHH!" A feminine voice yelled. Everyone shouted in panic and terror as they all began to move their feet and run.

Izuku, however, was just standing there, like a frozen fish that was stuck under the icy water. Although, he made his move to run but was shoved by someone, making him drop to the ground.

As he winced in pain, he heard a loud growl coming from the fading dust cloud. His mouth dropped and his eyes widened, and he just kept staring and staring when the dust already cleared when a large wind was emitted from the forearms.

Which revealed the same, experimented Nomu. Now with a Jet Thruster on its forearms for a Quirk.

Cliffhanger! That experimented Nomu is now loose and starts to create some damage and making everyone afraid. Will our main green-haired boy be alive or to survive the attack? Will there be someone to help? Find out more in the next chapter coming soon.

Now, as it says, the next chapter will be coming soon. You see, I wanted to stop first and take a break by ending in Chapter 4, but I wanted to let all of you be anticipated with excitement. So I planned on making and stopping by Chapter 3, and I'll be updating around next year.

I can't tell when I'll be updating around 2022, but I'll just update the story when it's already finished. And I apologize if this chapter is short. The next chapter that will be out soon, will be longer so I hope all of you will be okay with that.

So, that will be all now. Goodbye, and I'll see you in the next chapter. And I wish all of you in advance a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
