"How dare you fuckin' finish yours faster than me, Hothead!"
"It wasn't hard, dude."
"Oohhh, burn."
"Shut the fuck up!"
Okay, so maybe the group was rowdier than your average band of teenagers as they exited the Smoothie King. But it was understandable; an average band of teenagers didn't have a Katsuki, after all.
Yui quietly watched the two brothers squabble amiably as she continued to drink her smoothie. They might be childish when around each other, but that's something they did as brothers. Right? But, Izuku had always seemed to her to be the calmer of the two delinquent brothers, and for obvious reasons.
"I mean, bro. It's just a smoothie. Besides, I didn't choose to get the forty ounce like your dumbass did, I got the twenty four ounce." Izuku said with a shrug and a chuckle while Katsuki growled at him. The greenette smirked at his brother's irritation.
'They have somewhat of a small sibling rivalry I suppose…' Yui mused, watching the two grin at each other.
"Ok, Huey and Riley." Itsuka grinned, making yet another reference as everyone groaned good naturedly. She really had a knack for doing that. "Stop the squabbling."
"Eh?! Don't tell me what to do, Ponytail! And my name is Katsuki Bakugou! Not fucking Riley!"
"Katsuki, chill out. You loudmouth."
"Why do you sound like Genya from Demon Slayer?"
"..."
"...What?"
"Katsuki sounds like a lot of anime characters." Izuku nodded seriously, eyes closed and everything. "Especially Nishinoya, too. Their intelligence is about on par, so that one fits."
Suddenly, Katsuki got this distinct feeling that he was being ganged up on. "Hey!" He turned to his girlfriend. "Set, fuckin' help me!"
Setsuna giggled, detaching a finger and booping him on the nose with it. "Don't worry, Kacchan~ Just keep eating that smoothie you ordered too much of and lost your eating race with."
"Et tu, Setsuna?"
The group's laughter rang into the evening sky as they made their ways home.
"What's it like, learning from All Might?!"
Kendo stared at the cameras and microphones surrounding her. "You're blocking both me and my schoolmates' ways into school. Please leave." She frowned, before forcing her way through.
"How is All Might in class?"
Setsuna shrugged. "Aren't you guys kinda trespassing? Plus, you've split me up from Kacchan and Izuku. Why've you done that? Out of the way while I look for my boyfriend and friend, please."
She sent an eye up while the reporters blinked in confusion at being brushed aside so easily, and quickly located the two. "Oh, I'll leave you to that, then, Izuku you smooth criminal~" She giggled.
"How great is the experience of being able to learn from All Might?!"
"Huh? You're asking the wrong fucking questions! You should be asking All Might how much of an honour it is to be teaching me, the future number one Hero- Oi, Set, I wasn't done with them, stop pulling me away!"
"How did you find All Might as a teacher?"
Yui just gazed at the reporters silently. But on the inside, she was starting to get nervous. They were all staring at her, waiting for her to give them something. But she couldn't do that. She couldn't even ask them to get out of the way.
She found it hard enough to talk to her classmates on a normal day, never mind a bunch of pushy reporters. Hell, if she found it that hard just to talk to Izuku-
"Yo, excuse me guys. Can't you see you're making her uncomfortable? That's not cool, so fuck off, why don't ya." Yui heard from just behind her as an arm landed around her shoulders, pulling her protectively towards a lean and muscled torso.
Speak of the devil (brother).
Izuku strode through the reporters, who parted like the Red Sea before he and Yui until they reached the front gates of the school. At that point, he released the girl as he furiously tried to stop his cheeks from reddening. "Are you okay, Kodai?"
Yui silently lamented the loss of physical contact with him. She nodded gently, her voice disappearing in the presence of the greenette once more as for some reason, even she felt like blushing. She clutched the strap of her bag, before tilting her head in the direction of the doors their class used.
Izuku sighed and nodded. 'Guess it's the whole not talking to me thing again. Seriously, did I make her mad?'
Outwardly, he grinned as they began to walk. "Yeah, we should get to class already, I wonder what they've got in store for us today. Also, did Katsuki and Setsuna leave me? I'm hurt."
Unnoticed by Izuku, Yui smiled softly as she looked at the ground in front of her. She hadn't figured out just what it was yet, but something about Izuku's presence just put her at ease.
"What's up, brats." said to the students of Class 1-B. After all, who needed politeness anyway. It was only one of the most important things in Japanese culture.
He looked around the classroom to make sure everyone was accounted for. "Today we're going to be doing somethin' that'll change your future as hero students in a big way. So you'd better listen carefully and take this seriously before you fuck up."
Everyone waited nervously in growing anticipation. It was the fourth day of U.A and 'Dark Horse' was already giving them an assignment that would seriously change their future? U.A sure was intense-
"You all need to pick a Class Rep and Vice Rep."
Izuku buried his head in his hands. "Bruh."
"Got a problem, Fire Rat?"
"Sensei, calling me cruel names is child abuse."
Yami's eyes suddenly glowed, and in an instant he was right in front of Izuku's desk, lifting him up with a vice-like grip around his head,
"Owowowowowowow I'm sorry, let's just vote already, please, ow-"
He was cut off as Sukehiro promptly dropped him on his desk and returned to the front of the class. "I was going to say you should vote. Do you want to do it by raising hands, or anonymously?"
The class looked at each other, before deciding to do it anonymously. It was an easy decision, really. But before the could start-
"FRIENDS, ROMANS, COUNTRYMEN, LEND ME YOUR EARS!" Monoma's abrasive voice rang out from the middle of the class. "VOTE FOR ME! IF YOU DO, IT WILL BE MOST BENEFICIAL! I SHALL LEAD US IN BATTLE AGAINST THOSE SCOUNDRELS OF CLASS 1-A, WHO DARE TO LOOK DOWN ON- GAHK!"
Kendo's hand shrunk back down to its normal size after karate chopping Neito's neck. He slumped to the ground, not unconscious, but groaning in pain. "Ow…"
The ginger haired girl looked at her classmates. "Sorry about that. Let's vote! Make sure you take it seriously!" She said with a closed eye smile, tilting her head.
The entire class stared for a few seconds, then turned their heads to the papers on their desks as one and began writing.
Five minutes later, Kendo stared at the board at the front in awe. "What…?"
Itsuka Kendo - 18 votes
Neito Monoma - 1 vote
Nirengeki Shoda - 1 vote
Itsuka looked at the rest of the class in awe. Almost everyone had voted for her? She had cast her vote for Shoda, who had seemed incredibly reliable in the battle trial. And it was obvious who Monoma had voted for.
Her gaze met Izuku and Setsuna's, and they simultaneously grinned and sent her thumbs ups, before nodding towards the class podium. Nodding, she went up to the front.
"Um, thanks everyone for picking me as your Class Rep. I promise I won't let you down!" She said, giving what she hoped was a reassuring smile. It seemed to do the trick, given by how everyone grinned back.
"We love you Kendo!" Izuku cheered from the back, before quickly shutting his mouth and hiding behind Setuna as Yami's hand twitched. But in doing so, he missed the small frown on Yui's face.
The raven haired girl looked to her right, out of the window. 'Why does hearing him say something like that make me feel anxious?' She wondered silently.
Meanwhile, Kendo was now smiling normally again after Izuku's antics. "Well, we have two nominations for our Vice Rep, Monoma and Shoda. So if you guys don't mind, we'll vote again."
Nirengeki Shoda - 19 votes
Neito Monoma - 1 vote
"Oh, come on!" Monoma complained, standing up and slamming his hand down on the table. "Do you all consider me that bad of a choice?!"
Everyone just stared at him solemnly, not a word being said until he cleared his throat and sat down again silently. The classroom remained silent for a few more seconds, until Izuku couldn't help but let a small snicker escape. That set Setsuna off, and soon half the class were giggling.
"Oh, shut up!" Monoma leered at Izuku. "You 1-A sympathiser! I'd be a twenty times better Class Rep than you would!"
Izuku smirked. "One, I seriously doubt that. Two, it's not as if I even wanted the position. And three, a Class Rep is supposed to put others first, and be unselfish. You've not really put forward the best impression of that as someone who voted for yourself in both rounds, have you?"
Monoma spluttered as the already giggling class started to laugh louder, a small smile even breaking out on the faces of the ever stoic Yanagi and Yui.
"Sukehiro-sensei! Bakugo is bullying me!"
"No, he's not. And nobody likes a snitch, brat."
The class laughed even harder after that.
"Now, onto homeroom business." Aizawa droned, clearly bored with life. "Sorry for the sudden announcement, but today…"
'What is it…?!' Class 1-A thought nervously. 'Another brutal pop quiz like yesterday morning?'
"You'll pick a Class Rep."
"IT'S SOMETHING NORMAL, LUCKY!"
Aizawa sighed, knowing exactly what was going to happen next. And he'd had the class for less than a week.
"I WANNA DO IT! LET ME BE PRESIDENT!" Kirishima yelled.
'Yeah, no. Too loud to be making announcements every morning.' Aizawa thought.
"I wanna be a leader!" Mina squealed.
'See above.'
"The position was made for moi!" Aoyama winked, blowing a kiss.
Aizawa just winced.
"I'd like to do it." Jiro said, remaining seated and surprisingly calm compared to the rest of them as she raised her hand too.
'Not a bad choice. Hope they choose her.'
"Under my administration, all girls will have to show at least 30 cm of thigh!"
'...What?'
And those were only a few of the voices that echoed around the 1-A classroom. But suddenly, one rang louder than the rest.
"BUT AMBITION DOES NOT EQUATE TO EQUALITY!"
'Oh, here we go.'
"This sacred office demands the trust of its constituents!" Iida said passionately. "Therefore, if this class is to be a democracy, then I put forward the motion… THAT OUR TRUE LEADER MUST BE CHOSEN BY ELECTION!"
Katsuki, from where he'd been raising his own hand, couldn't keep his mouth shut any longer. "We were gonna end up voting by the end anyway!" He spat. "And the fuck do you mean, put forward the motion? We're in a damn classroom , not Congress! AND THE FUCK YOU MEAN BY RAISING YOUR SHITTY HAND HIGHER THAN MINE WHILE SAYING IT?!"
Aizawa just groaned, drawing everyone's attention back to the front. "I don't care how you do it, just get it done."
"I guess we're putting it to vote then, kero."
"Well, thanks guys for choosing me as the Class Rep. I hope I can live up to your expectations."
"And I will do my best as Vice Rep."
Miraculously, Aizawa woke up at that exact moment. "Okay, so Tsutsumi and Yaoyorozu are your Rep and Vice Rep. This was fairly done, so I don't want to hear any complaints from any of you. That includes you too, Bakugo." The teacher said, recognising the defiant look on the student's face.
Katsuki huffed, glaring out of the window. "Tch. Whatever."
The ash-blonde shook his head. It would've been nice to be the damn Rep. Hero agencies looked for stuff like that when looking at which interns to pick and shit like that. 'Plus, it woulda been a good way to show all these shitty extras their places under me.'
Suddenly, from the neighbouring class, they heard raucous laughter. Aizawa shook his head. "Yami, control your kids." He muttered under his breath, too quiet for the students before him to be able to hear.
But Katsuki could guess what was going on in there. Izuku had probably done something funny enough that Class 1-B had ignored the fear factor of their teacher and laughed anyway. Assuming the rival class were picking student Reps too, he'd take a guess at Izuku putting someone in their place. Probably the Monoma dude he and Set had been complaining about the other time on the way home from school.
'Man, I wish I was over there. Izuku, Set, this class is dead.'
At lunch, Katsuki scanned the cafeteria as soon as he received his meal from Lunch Rush. Seeing a mop of green hair, he stalked over to it, before slamming his tray down on the table as he sat down.
Izuku looked at his brother. "Hello Katsuki. Your beautiful visage looks all the more lovely today." He chuckled at the massive snarl on Katsuki's face.
"Shut it, bro." Katsuki spat, digging into his food.
Izuku tilted his head. "You good? You only call me bro when you're particularly happy to see me."
Katsuki opened his mouth to answer, but was stopped by three new arrivals to the table.
"Hey, Kacchan!" Setsuna greeted cheerfully, disconnecting her cheek to nuzzle against her boyfriend's as she sat down. He sighed, a grin coming back to his face.
Juzo sat down to Izuku's right. "What's up, dudes." He said, tapping his index and middle fingers to his head in an informal salute. Izuku gave him a fist bump, before looking at the third arrival.
And he watched as, despite standing next to the free seat beside Setsuna, Yui walked around the whole table to come and sit down on his other side. "Kodai…?"
She remained silent, just staring at her food.
'DAMMIT! IS SHE MAD AT ME OR NOT? FIRST SHE DOESN'T TALK TO ME, THEN SHE COMES AND SITS NEXT TO ME, THEN CONTINUES NOT TALKING!'
Meanwhile, Yui, for the first time in her memory, could feel her cheeks actually heating up. 'Why did I do that…'
"So, did your class pick reps today? Did you get it?" Setsuna asked Katsuki as she dug in.
"Nah." Katsuki said sharply. "Firearm and High Class did."
"Who?" Izuku asked, Juzo and Setsuna nodding with sheepish smiles.
Katsuki grinned, realising his error. "Firearm is the girl that sat with us before, with the different coloured hair. Her quirk turns her arm into a gun. High Class is a rich bitch, I don't think you met her yet."
"Oh, you mean the one who's an exhibitionist? What was her name… Yaoyorozu? She was at the recommendation exam." Setsuna asked, a finger to her chin as she looked to the ceiling in her efforts to remember.
"Oh yeah." Juzo agreed. "She wasn't an exhibitionist, really." He added in an aside to Izuku to clear up the confusion. "She just needed maximum skin exposed to utilise her quirk."
Katsuki nodded shortly. "Yeah, her. Who did you guys choose?"
Just then, they were approached by a malevolent presence. "Would you look at that! Four of my own classmates, conspiring with a member of the Class 1-A scu- Wait, Class Rep, no-!"
"Sorry about that, guys." Kendo grinned at them. "Hold on, I'll join you after I drop this guy off somewhere."
Izuku made a 'yep, it's pretty much self explanatory' gesture as he continued to inhale his katsudon.
Katsuki grunted. "Yeah, she seems like she'd fit it. Did you get Vice?"
"Nah, it was Shoda that got that." Izuku corrected, pointing over at where the boy was sitting with some other members of 1-B. "All I did was put Monoma in his place."
'So I was right,' Katsuki thought.
"Okay, Katsuki, what is it? Are you huffing 'cause you didn't get picked for Rep?" Izuku finally snapped, tired of his brother's bad mood.
"Nah." Katsuki said. "It's just that my class is dead. I want to be with you guys. That's where the fun is, not with all those extras."
Izuku shook his head. "Katsuki, you don't know that they're extras. You should give them a chance. There's definitely at least one who wants to be friends with you, surely."
Katsuki glared. "The problem is that I don't want to be friends with them."
His brother sighed. "Look, Katsuki, I won't always be around to keep my promise. So in preparation for the instances when I'm not, you should surround yourself with people you trust."
The ash-blonde boy opened his mouth to reply, but was interrupted by the school alarm ringing. "Warning: Level Three Security Breach. All Students please evacuate."
"Huh?" Izuku grunted in confusion as the alarm continued to go off. It repeated what it said before and everyone looked at Itsuka. She shrugged, knowing just as little as they did, and Izuku turned to a third year who had stood up. She had short pink hair and red eyes.
"Oi, what's happening here? The fuck is a level three security breach?" Izuku questioned the third year, and she looked at them with a serious face and raised her eyebrows.
"It means someone has successfully gotten through U.A's security. I've never even seen that happen yet. You first year rookies should probably get the hell out of here." She shouted as she ran toward the exit of the cafeteria.
Another third year passing them snorted in derision. "Newbies. How don't you know what the alarms are? Didn't you listen at your orientation?"
Angry ticks simultaneously grew on Setsuna, Juzo and Itsuka's foreheads. 'Sukehiro-sensei…!'
Izuku and Katsuki just shrugged. Knowing what school alarms were didn't particularly matter to becoming a Hero, did it now?
Yui showed no outward reaction as usual.
"Well, guess we should get going." Izuku said, inhaling the rest of his katsudon with ease and putting his plate down as he got up, Katsuki doing the same with his curry.
The others stood up, and they stepped out into the flow of people going for the exit. But they had seriously underestimated the panic and urgency that everyone else was moving with.
Juzo was the first to go. An elbow to the gut, and he paused. In that fraction of a second, he was swept away before the others could even call out to him in shock.
Itsuka was next. She turned around to see if she could see any other members of class 1-A, and when she turned back to her friends, she was met with the irritating face of Neito Monoma. "Ugh."
As the remaining four got carried along by the crowd, Katsuki reached out and caught onto Setsuna's arm, gripping it reassuringly. His face reddening a little, Izuku went to catch onto Yui's too, but was barged aside.
Three burly second years charged through, knocking people aside like pinballs. And Setsuna and Yui were right in their way.
Setsuna was thrown to the ground, disconnecting her arm at the last moment so she didn't either dislocate it or drag Katsuki down with her. Yui was knocked over with her, a small cry of pain escaping her as she hit the ground on her side with a thud.
That was the final straw.
Izuku and Katsuki stopped, a feral grin elongating on Izuku's face while Katsuki had a relatively annoyed one. Their eyes glowing in shadow as an aura of fatal killing intent began to emanate from them.
Slowly, people started to back away from them in fear, even more so once sparks started to fly from Katsuki's hand as a demonstration of his current irritation, and smoke started to be seen around each of Izuku's feet as he kept his flames low so as to not burn through his shoes, but high enough to make a dangerous sizzling sound.
"Are those… first years?"
"Do they want to kill us?"
"Let's… Let's move a little further back…"
"Yeah…"
The Bakugo brothers both turned around, glaring at their surroundings. "Oh, so you want to fucking calm down now, do you?" Izuku spat, still feeling like opening a can of whoop ass.
"Nah, keep that same energy from before, so we can beat your collective asses." Katsuki hissed.
Setsuna and Yui blushed a little. ' Hot…'
Just then, Iida Tenya came flying through the air, and slammed into the wall above the doors. "CALM DOWN, EVERYONE! IT IS JUST THE PRESS, I REPEAT, JUST THE PRESS! LET US ACT IN A WAY BEFITTING OF THIS PRESTIGIOUS SCHOOL!"
Katsuki glared at him. "Too late. Now piss off before I beat your ass too, four-eyes."
"EH?!"
Izuku snickered. "What he said." Then he turned to the rest of the crowd. "You heard, now get a fucking move on! Calmly!"
The student body was a lot more composed after that.
That afternoon as they walked to the train station, Setsuna pulled Katsuki back from the others a little. Disconnecting her mouth and floating it next to his ear, she started to whisper to him.
"Hey, Kacchan. I think Izuku likes Kodai~."
Katsuki rolled his eyes with a huff. "Bull...shit?... Wait."
Setsuna waited for him as the gears clicked in his head. Soon, he had and had come to much the same conclusion as her. "Huh, that does make some sense. But why would I give a shit?"
"Well, don't you want to get them together?" Setsuna whispered with a giggle. The blonde scoffed.
"No, I don't." Katsuki grimaced. "If he wants to bag a chick, that's his personal issue to sort out. I ain't going in and fucking with shit." He continued.
"What?" Setsuna said sharply as she pinched him for being an asshole. "That's just mean. Don't you remember how he got us together? You know? With the mistletoe?"
Katsuki shook his head. "Nah. All he -and the old hag and the old clown- did was give us a bit of a push. We're not even completely certain they both like each other. I'm not fuckin' interfering, Set. Going down that path will either make things a lot more fucking worse or put stress on either of them, or both of those can happen."
Setsuna huffed as she reconnected her mouth to her face. She watched from behind as Izuku cheerfully tried to involve Yui in the conversation, but she just quietly looked at her feet as they walked. A brief flash of confusion and hurt flashed across the greenette's face, she noticed, but he quickly covered it with a smile and went back to talking with Juzo.
Setsuna nodded determinedly. 'I'll get those two together. Just you watch, Kacchan!'
