"Ahhhh."

Izuku groaned eloquently as his eyes started to crack open.

"I feel… like shit."

He forced his eyes open, then winced immediately and shut them tight as the light from the nearby window assaulted him. 'Where am I?' He thought, almost concerningly calmly.

What was the last thing he remembered? Katsuki's water bottle, going to the USJ, the Villains, fighting alongside Katsuki and Kirishima, and-

The nomu.

Izuku's eyes shot open again regardless of the bright light. "Katsuki!" He croaked as he tried to sit up, gripping his sheets tightly as he struggled to raise his upper body.

Just then, two gentle hands caught onto his chest and pushed him back down slowly. Izuku looked up to see Yui staring at him wordlessly.

"Kodai?" His voice choked out as he stared back at her.

She just kept her eyes on him, her features slowly forming a… frown?

Izuku flopped back down onto the bed, before hissing in pain and anger at his carelessness as literally every part of his body screamed at him upon impact. 'Of course, she's still doing that silent 'I'm mad at you' thing. Maybe she actually does hate me.'

Yui kept frowning at him, her hands starting to clench on the front of his shirt, and by extension the skin of his chest. "Um, Kodai… That hurts…"

Her eyes widened, and she immediately let go of him. "...Why…?" She murmured quietly.

Izuku did his best to ignore how cute her quiet voice sounded. "...Why did it hurt?"

She shook her head quickly. "No… Why did you have to leave, and then… And then almost die?"

"Well, I couldn't just abandon them!" Izuku grunted. "And I tried to get out to get Sukehiro-sensei, anyway…"

Kodai shook her head again, sitting in the seat beside his bed. She'd evidently only stood up to push him back down, judging by the bag and drawing pad on the side table hinting that she had been there for a while.

But… If she actually hated him, why had she been waiting so long for him to awaken?

He quieted for a moment. 'Well…she's talking to me now.' He pondered.

"If…you're worried about your brother he, um…he's in another infirmary room right now." She murmured as she sat there. Her blank face gazed upon him as he began to question everything he had thought before.

But then he gave up with a sigh. "Hey, Kodai?"

Yui blinked as she lost her voice again. She opened her mouth, only to close it again wordlessly. Instead taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes. Then opened them again. "Yes?"

"I've been kinda getting this feeling that you hate me for some reason." He looked at her as she furrowed a brow. She clearly wasn't understanding what he was saying. He sighed while he glanced at the ceiling. "It's mainly because you don't really reply to anything I say usually, or just kinda state at me disappointedly."

"Did I do something wrong to you, Kodai?"

Now Yui felt guilty.

She didn't hate him. At all.

It was just the opposite, in fact.

Yui just found it so very, extremely difficult to talk to people.

"I…I don't hate you. I don't dislike you either, Bakugo."

Izuku squinted at her for a moment, staying silent as he listened to what she would say next. "I just…find it really hard to talk to people. I'm…" She paused for a while, so long that Izuku looked like he was about to say something in response.

'Just spit it out!' She yelled internally. "I'm…afraid of being judged."

"Why would I judge you?"

"…" Kodai looked at him blankly and Izuku just sighed.

"Look…" He croaked. "I wouldn't judge you for anything. Everyone is different. You can talk to me all you like." He said, looking directly up at the ceiling. He glanced at Kodai to see her analyzing him. Or at least he thought she was, but Yui was actually remembering something from a long time ago.

"You hear? Kodai doesn't talk to anyone anymore."

"Really? What a relief, she was way too annoying."

"Right? She talked sooo much, like why would I care what she did over the weekend?"

Kodai's mouth quivered for a moment. She took a shaky breath as Izuku's words replayed in her head. "Thanks…"

"Don't mention it." Izuku said. Silence fell like a blanket over the room. But instead of the cold silence Izuku had assumed it to be before, it felt warm, like a smothering blanket.

"So…" Izuku smiled at her quietly. "How was the rest of class?"

Yui broke from her thoughts, her mouth curled into a smile a bit. "Well, Kendo joined in sparring between me and Tokage."

"Who won?" There was a small moment of silence. "Was it you?"

Yui softly snorted a bit. "Yeah…" Izuku chuckled a little before starting to cough painfully. Yui stared at him concernedly, then her gaze drifted to the side. "You…should get some more rest."

"Eh?" Izuku grunted, wrestling his body into a sitting position. "Why?" He tilted his head at her. Yui just looked at him silently, not saying a word.

Izuku looked down and sighed. He hadn't really expected her to get used to talking to him so quickly, so it was natural that conversations would still be a little awkward.

But at least he knows she doesn't hate him.

Progress!

"Now, I'm gonna go get Katsuki." Izuku grinned. "We'll get smacked across the head by mom for being ignorant, bet on who was right and who was wrong using Uno, and life goes on." He got off the bed with a happy expression, seemingly still worn out but Yui could see that.

Izuku walked slowly to the door of the room after grabbing his belongings while Kodai just sat there. He looked at her, raising a brow. "Hey, aren't you going to go home as well?" Kodai looked at him blankly. "You want to stay here for a bit." She nodded. "Alright then…you're still up to hang at my place tomorrow right?" Yui nodded. "Sweet. See ya then."

Izuku left the room, and Yui stared down at her lap. Izuku's words to her bounced around in her mind as she wiped away a small tear.

'Bakugo, you almost died, and yet you're still able to be the most thoughtful friend I've ever had…' She thought sadly. 'I never want that to happen again.'

Suddenly, her eyes widened as she remembered Recovery Girl's last words to her. "I'm just going to inform your homeroom teacher of Midoriya's condition now, make sure he stays in that bed if he wakes up."

Then, as if on cue, she heard screeches and knocks from the corridor.

CLACK!

"AND WHO!"

CLACK!

"GAVE YOU!"

CLACK!

"PERMISSION TO DISCHARGE YOURSELF?"

CLACK!

"YOU!"

CLACK!

"ARE IN NO WAY!"

CLACK!

"FULLY HEALED!"

CLACK!

"YOU BUFFOON!"

CLACK!

Kodai quickly got up from her seat in order to go and stop a potential murder, since Recovery Girl and her cane evidently didn't remember the Hippocratic Oath.

"What?! Oh, come on!" Itsuka yelled out, losing at Smash Bros to Manga Fukadashi. "No seriously, how did you even know we were going to play Smash Bros today?"

Manga pointed at Juzo while the speech bubble mounted on his head read out "Honenuki invited me! GG!"

"Nah nah nah, forget that. Lemme play him." Izuku said with a challenging smirk which grew to a nervous grin. "His King Dedede won't defeat me."

Fukadashi made a smug emoticon on his speech bubble. "You mean, you're ready to get Dededestroyed?"

"I'm not the one that's getting destroyed today, Fukidashi." Izuku smirked as Kendo handed him the controller. Kodai, who was sitting beside Izuku at the foot of his bed, watched the boy move the selector over Nintendo's main icon.

"Mario!" The screen shouted and the battle began.

Not long after, the group watched as Fukadashi lost one stock, then read Izuku like a book on every move attempted and ate all three stocks, the final one using the antagonistic penguin's neutral special; a move which sucked up projectiles into his stomach and spat them out with double the power, but could also be used to trap players. He abused this and went off the ledge while Izuku's character was held hostage, securing the dub. "GG, WP!"

"The fuck even was that?"

"The sacred Dedede technique." Manga said. "The infamous suck & cuck."

"How could you lose to him, Jotaro?" Itsuka sighed, pretending to be disappointed.

"Shut up, Dio. You lost to him quicker than I did." Izuku felt Kodai nudge him a bit. He looked at her with a small blush. "Yeah?"

She held up her hand. "You lost."

"Oh right." He handed her the Joycon and she moved the cursor over to the villain of Metroid.

"Ridley!"

And the rest of them watched as both Fukadashi and Yui's characters began eating each other's stocks. The game was getting tense, Kodai appearing to be just as talented as Manga in the arts of Smash Brothers Ultimate. And then finally, Fukadashi got a taste of his own medicine when Kodai used the side special while off stage, making it look like a touchdown as Manga's character was thrown off.

"GG, you are a woman of culture." Manga said to the girl and she nodded. Juzo tapped the speech bubble boy's shoulder.

"You lost, pay up." Manga handed him the controller with regret and the day went on with them playing. Izuku was now quite glad he hadn't decided to put any money on his own rash challenge after seeing the two pros at work.

A couple of hours later, Izuku stood up and stretched. "What do you guys say we head out somewhere?"

The group stood up with him and nodded collectively. "Yeah, it would be nice to stretch our legs." Kendo agreed, running her hand down through her ponytail as she stretched.

"Do we have to?" Manga complained, the kanji dancing around on his speech bubble.

Juzo shook his head. "Yes. Just because you're on a twelve game win streak doesn't mean we're gonna let you subjugate us any longer." He chuckled, lipless face stretched in a grin. "And keep in mind the only reason that happened was because Yui was too interested in Bakugo's baby pictures."

Izuku's eyes widened as he spun around frantically. "My what!?"

And sure enough, Yui was sitting at his desk, engrossed in looking at the pictures of Izuku and Katsuki as babies at the Bakugo house. She had come across a picture of Izuku as a kid in an All Might onesie. However, his pupils weren't red, but green. Next to him was a woman with green hair. "Cute." She murmured, too low for anyone to hear.

"Yah! How did you get those?" Izuku choked, leaping across the room and swiping them all.

Honenuki laughed. "Your mom snuck in and gave us them when you were playing."

"MOM!"

"SHUT IT, IZUKU! I DON'T GET THIS CHANCE OFTEN!"

.

.

.

Ten minutes later, the group of five strolled down the streets of Musutafu. "By the way, where are Tokage and the Class A Bakugo? Don't they hang out with you guys too?" Manga asked, the short boy turning to Juzo.

The lipless teen shrugged, instead looking at Izuku for the answer. The greenette turned away from trying to make Yui divulge just how many pictures she'd seen, and thought for a second before answering. "They were hanging out in Katsuki's room, a mini date sort of thing I think."

Kendo nodded. "Oh, so that's where they were. I wonder if they're having fun?"

"I wonder if they're having fun?"

A few meters behind the group, Setsuna Tokage grinned. 'Oh, I'm going to have plenty of fun… Getting Izuku and Kodai together, that is!' She thought with a grin.

Katsuki hadn't wanted to come out later."Why?" She remembered him saying. "If that Hothead wants to get with the silent extra, let him. Why do we gotta interfere?"

Setsuna had ended up abandoning him to an All Might video in order to trail the group on their outing. 'I'll get those two together, Kacchan, you'll see !'

Izuku felt someone watching him, but the feeling passed. "Eh, who knows?" He said, sweat dripping. 'Why do I get the feeling Setsuna's up to something?'

"So, where should we head?" Juzo asked, swinging his arms by his sides as he walked.

"Uh, there's a theme park near here. Want to go hang out there?" Izuku asked with a shrug. "I was only planning on stretching my legs, but as long as we're nearby we might as well."

There wasn't any argument with that, and in a few minutes the group found themselves wondering which rides to go on. Itsuka and Manga were arguing for either the sky drop ride or the really fast roller coaster.

"There is only one way to settle this." Manga said, holding a fist out. Itsuka smirked and did the same.

"First comes rock!" Itsuka said and they started to move their fist up and down. "Jan, Ken, Pon!"

Itsuka's hand showed paper while Manga's displayed rigid scissor blades.

"HA!"

"Ugh! Fine." She sighed after words before pouting. "I guess we're going on Velocity Vulcan."

"Well, I'm glad they didn't actually fight." Izuku scratched the back of his neck, Yui standing beside him. He felt a small tug on his sleeve and looked down at her out of curiosity, following her outstretched finger.

She was pointing to one of the tent games. 'Seems interesting enough.' Izuku shrugged before looking at the rest. "You guys can go! Me and Yui'll catch up. We're gonna go play some tent games, apparently."

"OK, hopefully you don't suck at them like you do in Smash Brothers!"

"…If I had a joy con on me, I would chuck it at you Fukadashi."

Setsuna watched the exchange in the background. She hadn't expected them to go to a theme park, so she made some last minute changes. She had bought a hat with sunglasses and put her hair in a strange looking style that she knew nobody who was acquainted with her would ever expect her to try due to her complaining about how bad it looked on her.

A ponytail.

Despite her hating that she had a ponytail due to it looking horrible in her opinion, she had watched the group split exactly how she wanted to. 'How convenient.' Setsuna thought, following the two from a good 15 foot distance. 'Maybe Kodai's gonna make a move?'

Izuku and Yui made it to the tent games, peeking inside to see it basically uninhabited apart from a couple of young boys playing a game with a basketball. "Wow, this bit's pretty empty, isn't it?" Izuku remarked.

Grabbing one of his sleeves again, Yui pulled him over to a classic ring and post game, and handed the stall runner some money. She looked up at him with a questioning smile, and Izuku shook his head. "Uh, Yui, this type of thing is usually rigged. Like the hoop will be too small for the post you're trying to land it around, or the top of the post is a bit wider than the rest, or-"

He paused as he felt Yui tug at his sleeve again, looking down to see her pouting stubbornly at him.

'C-Cute!'

How could he deny her after that adorable display? "Let's go, then."

Five minutes later, Izuku was holding back a whole lot of told you sos, but he blinked as Yui suddenly huddled up to his side. He looked down at her in surprise. "Kodai?"

She put her finger over her lips as she hid two of the hoops between them, activating her quirk on them and making them grow ever so slightly. "Throw them quickly." She whispered, quickly slipping them into the greenette's hand as she turned back to the game.

Izuku immediately rifled the two hoops at the highest point scoring posts, both rings hitting their marks and falling around their respective posts. As they cleared the initial wider part of the post, Yui quickly put her hands together, murmuring a quick, "Release!"

The stall runner stared at them in shock. "We have… a winner?"

Izuku grinned challengingly. "You almost sound surprised."

"Ahem, of course not." The man said, hurriedly regaining his composure. Izuku and Yui exchanged sidelong glances and a quick giggle.

The stall runner turned to the prize rack behind him. "So which, um, which prize would you like? Each hoop gets you a token." He said, gesturing to the selection on display.

Izuku's eyes widened. 'That game came out just last month, no way! And it's for two tokens! I'll-' Then he froze, a tiny imaginary Mitsuki banging on the side of his head.

"YOU'RE WITH A LADY, AND YOU CAN ONLY THINK OF GETTING YOURSELF A NEW CONSOLE? EH, BRAT?"

"Heh heh…" Izuku chuckled quietly, put to shame by his own thoughts. He turned to the girl beside him, rubbing the top of his head. "What would you like, Kodai?"

The raven haired girl looked up at him with a thoughtful expression. "I don't want anything, really. You can get something."

Izuku turned back to the prizes, but an image of Yui's smiling face and sounds of her cute giggle bounced around his head. He'd like to bring those out again. He looked at the stall owner and grinned.

"I'd like that one, and that one, please."

Two minutes later, Izuku and Yui walked out of the tent, each of them wearing a woven bracelet on one wrist. The bracelets had an angular pattern on them, and Izuku's had an 'I' on a diamond shaped bit of metal connected to it while Yui's had a 'Y'.

"Let's swap."

"Huh? Kodai?"

"Let's swap bracelets." The quiet girl murmured, looking in the opposite direction with a blush on her face, not that Izuku could see it.

Plus, Izuku was so dense that he could probably see it and still not have a single clue as to why it was there.

"Uh, okay." Izuku agreed. "But I did kinda get these two because y'know, 'I' for Izuku, and 'Y' for Y-Yui, so-"

"I know." Kodai said quietly. 'And that's exactly why I want to swap.' She wasn't sure exactly what the nature of all these feelings she had was, but everything she had agreed that this was what she wanted.

"Well, sure." Izuku said, slipping his bracelet off and exchanging it with hers. Yui fidgeted with her new bracelet as she put it on, her fingertip tracing the letter on the small attached plate.

She turned to him, and later Izuku would swear that the sheer luminosity of the smile she gave him was almost enough to power Japan for a year. "Thank you."

The greenette turned away, a tinge of red to his face. "Yeah… N-No problem, Kodai."

"Yui."

"Wha-"

"I want you to call me Yui." The girl said quietly, her finger still slowly tracing the first initial of Izuku's name. Izuku blushed at the sudden request, not expecting it at all. He took a deep breath.

"Alright, I guess it's only fair if I let you call me by my first name." He smiled, Yui returning the expression with a light blush on her face.

"Alright, Izuku." She said quietly. 'I would've done that anyway.'

Izuku was glad that Yui had begun talking a lot more. Mostly because said talking was usually done with him, which he obviously liked a lot. He scratched the back of his head. "Should we head back to the others?" He questioned.

Yui thought for a moment before shrugging.

"…Let's do a ride or two together before meeting up with the rest." She said, wanting to spend all the time in the world with the boy she had only known for a couple of days.

Setsuna picked her jaw up off the floor.

Literally.

'Holy shit that girl moves fast.' The lizard lover thought, sitting back down at the bench she'd moved to after the pair had left the tent.

'Like, at this point, there won't even be a need for me to do anything.' Setsuna mused. 'And I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. On the one hand, it would be for the best to let them get together naturally, but…'

She grinned mischievously.

'It's always fun to manipulate events a little.'

A little voice in the back of her head pointed out that this far, she had done zero manipulation, and things were going just fine without her.

She conveniently ignored it. 'Maybe I should try convincing Kacchan again…'
