A/N: So here we are, Chapter 1, only took about a month. Anyway, like I said before, I'll probably end up making the chapters longer, which means there'll be a longer wait time between them, so I hope that doesn't disappoint you too much. But now, it's the time you've all been waiting for, Digimon partners! I'll go further in depth about why I choose who I did in the Author's Note on at the bottom. Just know that I might've picked some surprising choices, and some not surprising choices. And if I don't end up picking one of your favorites, don't get upset. I might end up using them in another chapter.

Let's All Get Digital

Black. That was the only thing that Jaune could see. He wondered for a moment before he figured out that his eyes were close. Then he thought back to the last thing he remembered, being pulled into they night sky by a shooting star. A dream, it had to be a dream, that's the only possible explanation. That doesn't explain why his chest feels heavy, or why his bed doesn't feel like his bed. In fact, it feels like he's laying on grass?

"It's a dream, it had to be a dream. There's noway I floated into the sky. That's just not possible." His voice broke the silence abruptly. It's the way for things to make sense. He had a weird dream, and he's still tired and groggy. That's why his bed feels wrong, and why it feels like something heavy is laying on his chest. Once he opens his eyes, he'll wake up to his room. Or to one of his sisters playing a prank on him. Or to-

"Huh? Are you awake now Jaune?" An unfamiliar voice breaks his train of thought. A voice coming from the heavy weight on his chest. At this new sound, Jaune slowly opened his eyes, and he wasn't prepared for what he saw. Staring back at him was a soccer ball sized, pink blob with a pair of floppy ears(?) sticking out its head. It had large, bright red eyes, and fangs sticking out of its mouth. "I'm so happy that you're awake now Jaune! I wanted to wake you up early, but you looked so peaceful sleeping there, I just couldn't! Did I mention that I'm happy to finally meet you? Because I am! I've been waiting forever to meet you!" The blob was talking. It took a few moments for it to fully register in Jaune's head, but when it did, Jaune started freaking out.

"AHH! Talking monster!" Pushing the thing off him, Jaune flung himself as far away from the pink blob, and quickly got to his feet. Rightfully freaking out about this whole thing.

"Aww, there's no need to be scared Jaune. I'm your friend! I'm your friend! I'm your friend! I'm your friend!" The "monster" started bouncing around him, chanting that last line over and over again. Jaune took a breath, and tried to calm down. If it's just a dream, then pinching himself should wake him up, right? That's how it is in all of his shows and comics. So, to prove his hypothesis, Jaune pinched himself. And when that didn't work, he did it again, and again, and again.

"Come on, wake up. Wake up. Wake up! Does this not actually work? Was everything I've ever been told a lie? What other lies have I been told?" Jaune muttered himself, trying to wake himself up. He almost completely forgot about the "monster" he had just encountered, until it notice what he was doing.

"Hey, Jaune. What are you doing? It looks painful." It asks, a childish sense of curiosity evident in its eyes. It almost reminds Jaune of one of his younger sisters.

"Huh? Oh, um...I'm pinching myself to, uh, wake me up from this...dream?" Jaune answer was filled with the uncertainty. Reality was slowly sinking in, that everything that's happened, as strange as it is, is not a dream, and is in fact really happening.

"But you're not dreaming! You're really here! With me!" The blob resumed happily bouncing around Jaune, laughing and cheering all the while.

'It looks really happy to meet me, and it could've easily attacked me while I slept. I guess its safe to stay with him, right? Besides, with the way he's acting, he's closer to a little kid than a monster.' Normally, Jaune wouldn't wouldn't have thought twice about running away, but that's in normal circumstances. He's floated into the sky and meet a pink, talking head, this is anything but normal circumstances. Now that's he's called down a bit, Jaune took a look around at his surroundings: he's standing on vibrant, green grass, surrounded by such an overwhelming number of trees, which should be impossible because there wasn't a forest anywhere near where he lived. Add 'lost in a mysterious forest' to his growing list of 'not normal' circumstances. Assuming that his 'friend' knows its way around this forest, sticking with him is looking better and better.

"Alright little guy, I guess I'm your friend. I'm Jaune Arc, but you already knew that...How did you know my name?"

"I know it because we're partners!" It said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Jaune repressed the urge to sigh, it was just like talking to his younger sisters. But from experience, Jaune knew that trying to pry for more information would be useless, or lead to more questions, so he decided to put that line of questioning on hold for now.

"Riiiiight, partners. So, so you mind telling me your name?" He felt a little scummy asking for someone's name when they knew him, but he can't recall ever meeting a talking pink blob, much less learning his name.

"My name's Koromon." If Koromon was disappointed that Jaune didn't know his name, then he (it?) didn't show it. In fact, Jaune wasn't sure that it could feel anything but happiness and excitement.

"Another question, just what-" His next words died in his throat, as a loud, animalistic roar erupted from within the trees. Jaune jump in fear, rightfully so, and without a second thought, grabbed Koromon and ran as fast as he could in the opposite direction from the roar.

Jaune kept running and running and running, never turning unless a tree was in the way. Koromon tried to talk to him, ask him where he was going or why he was running, but Jaune couldn't really focus on anything but running. How could he? The only thing he knew that could roar like that was a Grimm, and he really didn't want to run into one without a Huntsman nearby. So Jaune continued to run, until someone suddenly landed in front of him, knocking them both to the ground. Jaune fell on his back, and to add insult to injury, Koromon landed on his face.

"Oof. Hey! Watch where you're goin'!" So the mysterious figure had a voice. That ruled out it being a Grimm at least.

Pushing Koromon off his face, Jaune began apologizing almost immediately, "I'm so sorry. I should've paid attention to where I was running. But I heard a loud roar, thought it was a Grimm, and-" Once Jaune got a good look at who he ran into, he never finished his apology. Sitting in front of him was a blonde kid. "Wait! You're a normal kid, and not some weird looking monster thing!"

"Huh? Wait, you're normal too!" Now that the shock was wearing off, Jaune fully took note of the other kid's appearance: his clothes, his tail, and the weird gray lump on top of his head, which was starting too move. The 'lump' was about half the size of Koromon, and while Koromon was smooth, this one was covered in fur. It had a small, blonde mohawk; three spikes sticking out, two from its back and one acting as a tail; teal eyes; and four stubby legs. Koromon bounced up to the other creature, and the two of them began running and playing around. It seems about as much of a threat as Koromon.

Jaune points to Koromon, and then to the other creature, "You have one too?"

"Yeah, I just woke up in this forest, and there he was." The other kid jumped up, and offered his hand to Jaune, and helped Jaune to his feet. "This whole thing is crazy man. Last thing I remember is being pulled into the sky, and boom, I'm waking up in the middle of a forest with that little guy in my face."

"Same thing happened to me too. I'm Jaune by the way, and he's Koromon. What's your names?"

"I'm Sun, and that's-"

"I'm Pusurimon! Are you Sun's friend? Because Sun's friends are my friends!." The gray lump interrupted Sun, as if it was waiting for this moment.

"Well, I wouldn't exactly call us friends, but he is the only other person I met that isn't a monster." Sun answered his companion, bringing his arm around Jaune's shoulder. "Speaking of monsters, didn't you say something about a Grimm?" Jaune's eyes widened to an almost comical degree; in the excitement of meeting someone like him, he'd completely forgotten the entire reason he was running in the first place.

"Oh, right! So a little bit after I woke up, I heard loud roar. So, I picked up Koromon, and ran as fast as I could, and I think I lost it in the forest. You know what happens next."

"But did you actually see the Grimm?"

"No, heard the roar and ran without a second thought."

"So, you didn't see it, and you're just assuming it was a Grimm."

Jaune tried to think of a reply, but couldn't. Sun had a really good point; the roar might not have come from a Grimm. Koromon and Pusurimon already prove that creatures aside from normal animals and Grimm exist, who's to say that roar didn't come from one of them. "Hey, Koromon. Could you come here for a second?" Jaune asked, trying to get to the bottom of this. Koromon excitedly bounces up to Jaune, "Sure Jaune, anything you need."

"I have a very important question to ask you. What kinds of Grimm live here?" Koromon thinks for a moment, his face scrunched up in confusion. Before finally, "I have just one question. What's a Grimm?" It took a solid 3 seconds for Koromon's question to fully register in Jaune's mind. During those 3 seconds, Jaune's face was completely blank. After those 3 seconds, "What!? You don't know what Grimm are!? But that's...How?"

"Are Grimm a type of food?" This question came from Pusurimon. Sun was shocked at their lack of knowledge, he wasn't the bright kid around, nor did he have an education, but even he knew what the Grimm were.

"The Grimm are monsters. They got pitch black skin, bones sticking out everywhere, glowing red eyes, and attack everything but other Grimm. Not ringing any bells?" Jaune continued trying to ask them about the Grimm, hoping that they're not serious. But the two of them keep saying the same thing, that they have no idea what Grimm are. Any further line of questioning was interrupted by a rustling in the bushes next to them. Sun and Jaune quickly backed away from the bush, while Koromon and Pusurimon jumped between them and the bush, ready to fight. Waiting in that bush could be the Grimm, or whatever made that roar. Looking at Koromon and Pusurimon, Jaune didn't like their chances. After a moment of waiting, from out of the bush steps...two humans.

The first was a boy around Sun's and Jaune's age. He had black hair with a magenta streak tied up in a small bun, a green coat, white pants, and black sandals. On top of his head was another weird creature. This one was another pink, round ball like Koromon, but that's where the similarities end. This one was covered in pink fur; had a small, yellow beak; two wings sprouting from its sides; a stubby tail; and on top of it's head was a red feather with a yellow tip. The second was girl, and she looked like the youngest out of all of them. Like the boy next to her, she had black hair, but hers had red tips instead. She wore a red hoodie, a black skirt, black shoes, a black backpack, and a small. red cape attached to her hoodie. In her arms was, you guessed it, another creature. It's another ball-shaped one, with orange fur on most of its body, save for the white fur on its face. It had red eyes and, mysteriously, a large horn on top of its head.

Jaune and Sun let out a sigh of relief, before quickly making their way over to the new arrivals. The two new people appear to be just as relieved as them, and they started walking to meet the others.

"Hey! Nice to see two more familiar faces, or at least, more human faces." Sun was the first one to say something, not that Jaune minded. He was still unsure of what to say, so its nice to let Sun carry the conversation until he managed to gather his thoughts.

"Its nice to meet you! Do either of you two know what happened to us?" The girl spoke next, stopping in front of Sun, the two of them waiting for their companions to catch up to them.

"Um, no we don't. I was hoping you could tell us." Jaune admitted, stopping next to Sun.

"So none of us know why we're here?" The other boy spoke once he joined the others in standing in a circle. The girl spoke up again, "All we remember is seeing some lights in the sky, and then-"

"You grabbed some weird thing, and floated up into the sky. Same thing happened to us." Sun interrupted. As if to emphasize his point, he pulled out the device in question, with the others following suit.

"And when you woke up, you were in this forest, with these guys waiting for you, right?" Jaune asked, bending down and picking up Koromon. The other boy just nodded his head, carefully so that the thing on his head didn't fall.

"Well, how about some introductions? I'm Ruby, and this little guy is Tsunomon." Ruby said, holding Tsunomon out in front of her.

"Call me Sun!" Sun points his thumb at himself, before pointing at Pusurimon standing at his feet. "And he's Pusurimon!"

"Guess it's my turn. I'm Jaune, and this is Koromon." Jaune waved his hand before gesturing to Koromon in his other arm.

"My name is Ren, and this is Poromon." Ren removed Poromon from his head, and into his arms.

"Alright, not that introductions are over, I have a few questions for you. First, have you seen any Grimm around? Second, you at least know about Grimm, right?" Sun didn't waste any time before he started questioning the others.

"Of course we know about Grimm, who doesn't?" Ruby almost seemed offended at that question. Ren just nodded his head with Ruby. Poromon and Tsunomon looked at each other, and asked, "Ren/Ruby what's a Grimm?" Ruby made the same blank expression that Jaune did, while Ren simply looked shocked and confused. It took a moment, but eventually Ruby regained her senses. "You don't know what Grimm are? Anyone on Remnant has heard about the Grimm." Tsunomon looked at Ruby, and, without a moment of hesitation, asks, "What's Remnant?" That question shocked everyone. 'How can someone not know what Remnant is? Its the planet, the world we live on. Unless...'

"Where are we?" Ren managed to beat Jaune to the punch. "The Digital World of course." Poromon answered Ren, who didn't seem too fazed by it. The shock must be getting to Jaune, because Ren's colors almost seem to be faded.

"This isn't making any sense. Where's the camera? Who's gonna jump out and yell, 'Got you!'?" Jaune asks question after question, not giving anyone any time to answer them. Koromon looks up at Jaune in worry, "Hey, don't worry Jaune. You got me."

"But what are you? What are any of you?" Jaune's practically shouting at his point, not like the others are faring any better: Ruby is speaking to Tsunomon in hushed whispers, Sun still hasn't said anything, and Ren's colors are still faded, but that might be a trick of the light. At his question, all of the creatures jump into a small group in front of their partners, and in unison said, "We're Digimon, digital monsters!" Jaune takes a deep breathe, calms down, and looks at the other kids, all of them seemed to have calmed down too. He could feel the shock working its way out of his system, and in its place was a weird feeling of acceptance. He couldn't deny the fact that everything he's seen so far pointed to them in another world, and couldn't deny that he had no idea how to get back home.

"Do any of you know how we can get home?" Ruby speaks for the first time in awhile, and its with a question Jaune feared the answered to.

"Sorry, but we don't." Tsunomon's answer crushed the group.

"Then let's find one! If we were able to get here, then there must be a way back!" Sun all but shouted. His positivity and confidence spreading to the other kids, who are no longer looking at each other in hopeless despair. They will find a way back, no matter what.

A deafening roar pierced through the trees, Jaune recognized it as the one from earlier. Everyone stood completely still, waiting for something to happen. Then they heard what sounded like trees falling down, and it was getting closer.

"Everyone run!" Jaune ordered, scooping Koromon up into his arms again, and ran deeper into the forest, with the others following suit.

While the group was running, the mysterious creature continued to follow them. In fact, it kept disappearing and reappearing in different spots, practically herding the kids into a specific direction, until it eventually led them to a cliff side. Reaching the dead end, the kids turned around to face the forest. Stepping out of the trees was this large beast. It towered over all of the kids, and was completely covered in brown hair, save for its giant hands and feet.

"That's JungleMojyamon, a Rare Animal Digimon. It lives deep in the jungle, and attacks anyone who intrudes on its territory!" Poromon told the group, as JungleMojyamon pulled out a large, boomerang-shaped bone from somewhere, and prepared to through it.

"Don't worry Jaune, I'll protect you!" Koromon managed to slip out of Jaune's grasp, and charged forward. JungleMojyamon aimed at the approaching Digimon, and flung its boomerang at the little guy, who spat out large pink bubbles. The bubbles did nothing, as the bone struck Koromon dead on, knocking him back to the rest. Jaune quickly ran over to him, cradling Koromon in his arms. Despite his injuries, Koromon still struggled to free himself from Jaune's grasp, "Let me go, I can still fight." Jaune only held him tighter, refusing to let him go, "You can't! Look at what happened, you could barely scratch him."

"Even so, I have to protect you!" Koromon struggled against Jaune and managed to break Jaune's hold once again, and charged JungleMojyamon again. The other Digimon tried to follow his example.

"He's right, we gotta fight!" Pusurimon freed himself from Sun, and running towards JungleMojyamon.

"I must do this, please let me go." Poromon flapped his wings, and slipped out between Ren's arms, following the others in their charge.

"Let me go, let me go, let me go!" Tsunomon struggled as Ruby held him close to her chest, but even he broke her grasp, and joined the others.

The four Digimon rushed forward, as their companions could only watch. Suddenly, a bright white light and a loud, ear-drum piercing whine emitted from the kids' strange devices. The Digimon could feel more and more energy flow into them, until...

"Koromon digivolve to...Agumon!"

"Pusurimon digivolve to...Herissmon!"

"Poromon digivolve to...Falcomon!"

"Tsunomon digivolve to...Gabumon!"

The four little Digimon all changed! Standing where Koromon stood was a small dinosaur-like creature with orange scales and green eyes. It had a stubby tail, and 3 claws on each hand and foot. Its arms were far longer than a normal dinosaur, and its head was almost the same size as the rest of its body.

Replacing Pusurimon was something that vaguely resembled a hedgehog standing on 2 legs. It has gray fur; blue eyes; 2 ears on the sides of its head; 2 red claws on its hands, with a thumb on each hand; 2 red claws on its feet; a small tail; and gray, fur-like spikes on its back, under its neck, under its ears, and on the back and top of its head. The spikes under its ears were had yellow tips, and some of its spikes on the top of its head were yellow, making it appear like a mohawk.

Poromon turned into a large owl with amber eyes. Its feathers were primarily black, but had purple feathers on its chest resembling a stereotypical ninja vest. The feathers around its eyes, and the tips of its tail feathers, were red. The feathers on the tips of its wings/arms were purple. It had an orange beak and feet, with red talons.

Tsunomon changed into what looked like lizard wearing a wolf pelt. It had yellow scales, red eyes, a horn sticking out its head, a small tail with ridges, and its stomach was light blue with strange pink markings. Its fur pelt covered its head, arms, and its back. The pelt itself was light blue, with dark blue tiger stripes, and had purple claws.

The Digimon, with their new forms, instantly jumped into action: Falcomon flew into the air, and began circling JungleMojyamon; while the other 3 stood in between the larger Digimon and the kids. JungleMojyamon released an animalistic growl, drew back its fist, and tried to punch the 3 in front of him. However, "Ninja Blade!" Falcomon unleashed a stream of throwing starts targeted at JungleMojyamon's eyes, causing him to flinch in pain and miss the other Digimon. "Pepper Breath!" Agumon released a ball of fire from its mouth, hitting JungleMojyamon directly in his chest. "Blue Blaster!" Gabumon fired a torrent of blue flames from his mouth at his attacker's feet, causing it to stumble and lose its balance. "Needle-point Dive!" With JungleMojyamon unbalanced, Herissmon curled up into a little ball, and spun forward, hitting it directly in its stomach, knocking it over.

The kids could only look in awe. "They really got some moves!" Sun cheered. "I know, its awesome!" Ruby was all but jumping up and down in excitement. "I think they can actually win!" Jaune himself was caught up in the moment and excitement, and found himself cheering with the other two. Even Ren, despite not saying anything, had a small smile on his face.

JungleMojyamon wasn't down for the count, and once he got up, he began wildly throwing punches in random directions. Most of them hardly came close to hitting anything but the floor, its almost like he was aiming for the ground itself. Agumon back up from the raging beast, "All right gang. All together now."

"Pepper Breath!"

"Lightning Quills!"

"Wind Blade!"

"Blue Blaster!"

Agumon spat out another fireball, Herissmon fired electrically charged quills from his back, Falcomon fired a blade of wind from its wings, and Gabumon unleashed another stream of blue flames. All four attacks hit JungleMojyamon in its chest, and he erupted into flames. It continued to pound its fists into the ground in desperation. 'That thing must be in so much pain, it just keeps punching the ground in agony. Maybe we went too fa-' Jaune's thoughts were interrupted by a loud crack. Looking around, he could see that the area that JungleMojyamon was punching was starting to splinter, and cracks were forming, separating the cliff from the forest. Jaune didn't get a second chance to think, as the cliff started breaking apart and falling. All four kids and their Digimon started falling into the river below them.

A/N: And that's a wrap on the first chapter. To be honest, I'm not really confident in this one, I don't really have the skills good enough for a fight scene, especially a group one. But still, read and review, tell me where I can improve, any problems you see, etc. Also, tell me what Digimon you'd like to see appear, I might just add them.

Now, I'd like to write down my reasoning as to why I choose who I choose for the Digimon partners. I'll go into as many reasons as I can, without going into spoilers.

Jaune: Some of you might be groaning and saying, "Of course its Agumon. How boring can you be?" But I happen to like Agumon, and I feel like its a good fit for Jaune. Digimon fans might know what his evolutionary line is going to be, and even some non-Digimon fans might know, but I won't spoil it here. The description for the final evolution is a big reason why I choose Agumon for Jaune.

Ren: Good old Falcomon (2006). Some of you might be confused as to why I put (2006) next to his name, but that's because there are 2 Falcomons, and I'm using the 2006 version, not the original. It came down to either this, or Wormmon, but I couldn't think of a good line that fit Ren that much, so I went with Falcomon. He's a ninja, do I gotta say more?

Sun: Here's a Digimon not many of seen. Herissmon is from the Digimon ReArise mobile game, and stars as the main characters partner. He's just a cool Digimon I like, and I think fits both Sun's personally, and fighting style. He's got a lot of cool stuff later down his line. Also, he does not speak in his stupid Elmo voice from the mobile game. I don't know who made that decision, but they deserved to be fired.

Ruby: There are a few reasons I went with Gabumon. But both of them are kinda spoilers. So I'll say the least spoiler-y thing here. You see Gabumon's wolf pelt that he wears, that goes into Ruby's Little Red Riding Hood theme. The second reason is why I choose Gabumon over other wolf-based Digimon, and that's a major spoiler to those who aren't as familiar with Digimon.

So, those are my choices. I hope you all like them, or at least grow to appreciate them as the story progresses.
