The seas around Isla de Mara, Mexico were a wasteland. After the military deployed a weapon known as the Oxygen Destroyer. It had killed the fish for miles around, but what really forced the people to relocate was the red mist that began rising out of it. It was non-toxic, but whenever boats attempted to venture out, they almost never came back. Those that did reported a swarm of creatures of hellish appearance residing in the waters. Even military craft found they were no match for the creatures. Eventually, Monarch was able to get a small research outpost on the coast to further observe the mist and its inhabitants.
This particular day however, was different. Motions scanners began going off like crazy at first light when the sound of a distant Titan's call echoed out. As the scientists watched in awe, the cloud began to move away from the waters…and towards the source of the call.
…
A few hours after they were picked up, Taylor, Hailey, Mei, Joel, Boy, and Adrian all decided to take a short nap in the chopper. Soon, Yun woke them up.
"Rise and shine you guys." He said, "We're here."
Taylor and Hailey immediately looked out the window and lit up to see the famous Sydney Opera House in the distance. They also saw a towering complex building near the opera house. An angular infinity symbol could be seen on the side.
Adrion recognized the symbol from his research. "Is that your base?"
Yun nodded. "We call it Castle Delta. It's our base of operations here in Australia. You guys are free to make camp there and do whatever you need to."
"First things first" Taylor said, "We should find our parents."
"If they're Jaeger pilots like you said" Hana assured, "It'll be easier than you think. We've been collaborating with the Pacific Defense Corps for a while ever since the Titans began reawakening."
Within moments, the chopper began to descend to one of the helipads on the station. Adrian noticed the transports carrying Atlas Destroyer and Mechagodzilla were heading elsewhere.
"Where are they going?" he asked. Yun followed Adrian's gaze. "Oh, they're just heading for the Jaeger base we use. Its where we store our remaining mechs and repair/upgrade them."
Professor Otaki rubbed his hands in excitement. "I can't wait to get my hands on those two. So much potential!"
"All in good time, doctor." Hana reassured, "As for you five, I'll show you to our command post; we'll start your tour there."
The command post was rather large. As they walked in, the kids could see monitors showing all kinds of global activity, human, kaiju, and Titan.
"We monitor all Titan and kaiju activity around the globe" Hana explained, "It helps in case we need to send out one of our mechs."
"How many Titans are there?" Taylor asked.
"25. And counting." Hana casually said, surprising the others.
"That's way more than I thought" Adrian gasped.
Hana nodded. "Now, Yun can show you to the living quarters, where you are free to make yourselves at home. I'll see what I can do to find your parents; should be easy since you told us your last name."
Hayley raised a hand. "Sorry to interrupt, but is there a place I can learn more about a certain Titan?"
"That would be our data archives. Just down the hall that way." Yun replied. "when you get there, ask for either Mei Kamino; she's practically our top authority on Titans right now."
Hayley nodded, then turned to the others. "I'll catch up with you two." Then, she turned and headed down the hall.
Yun then turned to the remaining group. "So, let's get you guys set up."
Meanwhile, Mei headed down the hall, making sure to follow any signs she might see as she made her way to the archives. Eventually, she reached a set of double doors that opened into a massive room full of different bookshelves. Tables with various computers lined the place.
"Woah" Hayley gasped, "This is huge."
"First time?" asked a voice. Hayley instinctively jumped back to see a girl around her age with light skin and brown hair than hung just past her chin. She wore a simple black long sleeve shirt with the Monarch logo on it as well as a pair of jeans.
"Sorry." Hayley gasped, noticing the surprised look on the girl's face, "You startled me."
The girl calmed down, "Well, I've dealt with scarier."
"I'm Hayley" Hayley said, extending her hand. The girl shook it as she replied. "Name's Madison. Nice to meet you, Hayley."
Hayley nodded. "Do you know where Mei Kamino is? I'm trying to find something on a Titan and was told to find her."
"She's in a meeting right now" Madison replied, "But I could probably help."
"I'm looking for information about a creature called Mothra."
Madison nodded. "Easy. Follow me."
` She then gestured for Hayley to follow her as she led her deeper into the archives.
Meanwhile, Yun showed the others into the living area they would be in.
"It's not much," he said, "but it could be worse."
It was a decently sized room. Three sets of steel bunks were at one wall, leaving enough room for a desk on the other.
"It'll do" Adrian said, "Thanks."
Yun nodded. "Now, I gotta get down to help the professor with your mechs, but feel free to ask anyone for help if you need something."
Once he left, the others got themselves situated. As Mei sat on one of the lower bunks, she noticed Taylor had a concerned expression.
"What is it?" she asked.
"I'm worried about Hayley." He said, "She hasn't been the same since she had that weird dream last night. I know she's looking for answers right now, but still…"
"A lot of this is new for us too, Taylor" Adrian said, "The best thing we can do is just keep going forward and see where it leads."
"He's right" Mei said, placing a hand on Taylor's shoulder, "Let's just find your parents, then figure out more about what's really going on with these Titans."
Taylor saw the reason in their words and seemed to calm down. "Okay."
"We shouldn't need to worry" Adrian reassured, "I doubt Shane has the balls to come here. As for these so called "Kaiju Sisters", I don't think we need worry about them either.
…
Actually, a small group of Kaiju Sister cultists were at the edge of a swamp far away from Sydney. They were preforming another ritual where they would slowly "give the earth" to the kaiju. Right now, they had a plant, a rose to be exact, in a small pot that they would float down the river. The lead Sister took the pot and knelt down to the water's edge, holding a syringe of blue liquid, kaiju blood, in her hand.
"Let the kaiju accept our gift, and let the earth accept its new rulers." She said as the others began chanting in a different language. As they chanted, the lead Sister injected the liquid into the rose before sending it down the water. After a few more minutes, the Sisters left.
What they didn't realize, however, was that, infected by the kaiju blood and the polluted swamp, the rose suddenly began to violently jerk around, growing and mutating into a single, hideous creature…
The red mist was inspired by Singular Point, but it's not Godzilla the mist is the sign of...
Let me know what you think so far!
