Part 3: Scammed
"Yes, Lucius, I've double checked those figures as well as Dick. Tim just earned all that money for his charity. He's not going to like it. Do you know who had access to that money?" Bruce wrote the name down. "I don't know that person. I'm sure Tim does. I'll get back to you on that. Thanks Lucius." Bruce hung up the phone and was rubbing his face when Samantha and Jason entered his study. "Good, I wanted to speak to both of you."
Samantha looked over to Jason. They sat down in the chairs in front of Bruce's desk.
"The bickering you two have been doing has got to stop. It's disrupting this house where I'm getting complaints from all quarters, including my grandchildren. It's upsetting to them. Now I want you two to work out your differences or Jason, I'm going to have to ground you from patrol, and Samantha, I might decide, you don't have enough to do and have you help with kitchen duties with Alfred and believe me, you don't want that. He's a hard taskmaster."
Samantha could see that the big man of the house had a look of deep seriousness on his face. "Uh . . . Bruce, we already talked about it."
"We sure did. We made up."
"Good . . . Caine and Caleb, not to metion Haley miss their cousins. This has become a mulit-generational house, and they expect everyone to be home. Now that that's settled . . . I need to speak to Tim."
"Why, what's up?" Jason questioned.
"Someone embezzled the money that Tim earned during his charity event that we had here."
"You're kidding. Damn. He's going to be highly upset. Do you have a clue on who could've done it?" Jason asked. 'That's not right man. Tim almost lost his life doing that damned charity event'
"Yes . . Lucius discovered it was Chester Farmington. He was the last person to be seen at the Foundation accessing their bank records."
"Do you have any clue to where this, Chester Farmington lives?"
"He was seen getting on a plane leaving the country. There's nothing we can do at this point. I can replace the money, but this was discovered way too late to do anything about it."
Jason sighed heavily. "I hope that bastard's plane malfunctions and falls out the sky."
"I know Tim worked hard for that charity money," Samantha stated. "That was to help with any new youth projects he had planned."
"Knowing Tim, he will want to go after the person responsible and get the money back."
"He won't admit it, but he's not ready for that. Even though his injuries are healed, he has been traumatized from what that girl did to him."
"There may be another way," Bruce stated.
"I'm all ears," Jason said as he came alert. It wasn't very often that he and Bruce got to work together.
"Have Tim set up in the cave with the bat computer. Let him do what he does best."
"I don't have a problem with that," Jason said, looking over at Samantha.
"I won't interfere," Samantha said. "I learned my lesson from the countless other times."
"Jay . . . Why don't you tell Tim. I'll talk with Lucius and see just how much was lost and I'll cover the funds."
"I'll go talk to him. Sorry Sammie, I'll eat lunch with you another time."
"Ah, we got a life-time. Don't worry. Go talk to Tim."
