AN: I would like to say I may end up rewriting chapters here and there after I reread them, and see multiple incorrect, or disappointing lines, or lines hat don't make much sense. So I may go back and rewrite i before I fully rewrite it when I'm done.
February 22nd, 1930
Austin, Texan Capitol Building
President Barrios, knew full well this wouldn't be an easy meeting, with him barely becoming president in 1928, even though it's only been 2 years since his inauguration, multiple problems crept up like the Great Depression 1 year into his presidency, which he has been able to fix most of its problems and the economy is still growing albeit very slowly which isn't good, then there was the U.S presidents handling of the Great Depression which was terrible the economy would've been growing a little bit faster if he just was able to fix it. Then now here we were the Mexicilian declaration of war and the desertification of the Great Plains isn't helping at all. Although he was able to fix the economy he wasn't able to fix the way their communist neighbor thought. The Great Plains will take time but there's no way they will be able to focus on that until they successfully somehow defeat Mexicilia which will be difficult.
The Congressmen, Senators, and the Representatives were all gloomy, the highest ranking Generals of Texan High Command were also present so they could give their insight on how to defend their homeland militarily.
"With the recent declaration of war by Mexicilia, how should we handle this nightmare?" The president asked.
There wasn't a response for a minute or two till one of the Senators from San Antone spoke "I suggest we repeal the Treaty of Worms so we aren't limited in what we can use to protect our homeland."
It wasn't until one of the senators from Aggtown rebuked "Repeal the treaty! That will only give the Mexicilians an excuse to repeal it as well and then more Texans will die!" A senator from Agg said.
Aggtown and San Antone have some sort of beef between each other and he didn't know why they did as he was born in the Northwestern part of the country near Santa Fe but it wasn't important right now.
"I will take that suggestion into consideration Senator Leema." The president responded.
He took a glance at the two old generals that were present, silently watching the meeting slowly unfold into a debate between Aggtown Senators and the San Antone senators.
Eventually the debate between the two groups stopped and they covered other topics.
Same day, 8:36 PM
Texan Capitol building, Presidents office
President Zachary Barrios took a look outside of his window in his office, the sun was setting, small fishing, and tourist ships on the Austin river were returning back to their ports to continue tomorrow. People were starting to go home for the day. Shops were closing down for the day, outside of a few stores here and there as they would stay open till the middle of the night, but overall it was calm.
But even with this beautiful, calm sight he was stressed.
Being the president of any country isn't just about ordering people around all day, it's about signing papers, going to meetings, and overall putting a good look for the people, who are unaware of the inner workings of the government so the president could remain in power. There isn't much difference between a dictator, an elected president, or a king and queen, other than name, there isn't much difference between what they do, the only difference is how they get that power and how the people feel about them.
Currently he was overlooking a paper that suggested repealing the treaty of worms. He didn't know how to think if he should or shouldn't sign as he himself is conflicted on what he should put on this paper or whether or not to sign it.
There were multiple problems with this paper, but at least it suggests we start refollowing it after the war assuming we win, but chances of that happening will be slim.
He was thrown out of his thoughts when his aid barged in with what he assumed was an urgent message.
"Mr. President, there's an urgent situation. Laredo is under attack!" His aid yelled.
"So they finally moved." After that report he knew he couldn't sit around, he quickly made up his final decision to repeal the treaty "Call my advisors now on how to handle this situation and inform them that the Worms Convention has been repealed." He ordered his aid.
Dutifully the aid quickly left to give out the message to his advisors, as he prepared for another meeting.
One hour earlier 22nd February, 1930
60 miles from the Texan-Mexicilian border, 5th Texan Mage battalion main headquarters
Magic Lt. Col Jackson felt the searing heat he and his fellow soldiers and officers were getting used to down here at the southern border.
Their current orders we're to be on standby, but they were informed to act as a fast reaction force to reinforce places where they were needed. But until then they just sat around dying in the southern border's heat.
Till the radio operator came by with a message.
"Lt. Col! An urgent message from Laredo has just come in, they're requesting reinforcements, and they need them soon!" The radio operator urgently said.
He was given the report that over 5 divisions were surrounded.
"Leave them, I believe we have orders from central to act as a spearhead." It wouldn't be until he remembered something about the battle tiegenhof that allowed the imperial army to win. That could work here. "Give me a map of the region." His adjutant quickly brought up not only a map of the rail lines but the state of the tracks of the surrounding counties; they were not damaged. Unlike Tiegenhof, Laredo was land city not a costal one, but that didn't mean they could make a defense, and if they could get the Mexicilians to focus on Laredo they could possibly stop and push them back or slow down their invasion, not only that they could perform the spearhead that was ordered of them from central but possibly slow them down to allow reorganization of the southern army and allow them the spearhead operation. Not only that Laredo is considered a fortress city, even if it was in the demilitarized zone the government ignored it and put up land forts and such
"Yes, this is good." He said to himself.
"Second lieutenant Issuriag order the entire battalion to get all their gear on. We'll sortie soon."
"Yes sir!"
He himself quickly got his flight gear on although not much would be on his body as it would only be the foot gear and the backpack that transfers magical energy into the seated gear.
Henry was the first one to get done as that was expected of him.
All members of the 5th battalion have arrived.
"Attention, the battalion commander has something to report." Yelled Second lieutenant Issuriag. He stepped up on the platform he typically uses to address the battalion.
"We have a new request from the south, Laredo is under attack and they need reinforcements soon. Central has also asked us to perform a spearhead operation, but Laredo is the priority right now." The entire battalion minutes later took off for Laredo.

16 years after the Texan-Mexicilian war

"One of the first major battles of the Texan-Mexicilian war was the battle of Laredo. According to eyewitness accounts from veterans and survivors from the rape that took place after the battle, along with declassified reports after emperor Maximilian was put back on the throne, report very little aerial mages were used by the Mexicilian side during the war, so what went wrong for Texas, as to how the military was routed from the town with an enemy who used no aerial mages?" WTN Andrew reports The New World's bloodiest war. Historical Documentary.
