Chapter 3: Seeing Red
Once time again, the darkness around Subaru dissipate…
"Hey, kid! Are you okay over there?" The voice of a man, that is, unfortunately, the start of Subaru's every loop called out to him
Subaru opened his eyes suddenly, gasping for air while clutching at the place where the sword stab through him…
The phantom pain lingers…and it burns like acid inside his body.
"Kid?!" The man, The man raises his voice but notices the distressing expression on Subaru "You know what? Just take an appa, it would be bad business if a customer collapses here."
"But I don't have any money…" Subaru whisper in a tired voice
"Just take it, you look like you are going to collapse."
"Thank you…" To be honest, Subaru felt a little bit embarrassing about his moment of weakness. Is that what they called it?
"Yes, yes, now could you move a bit? You are blocking my customer." The appa seller rolls his eyes in disinterest
"Oh, sorry…" Subaru once again begins his adventure…into death and despair. Well, no pain no gain after all…he'd better find something good at the end.
'Daphne?!' He tried calling the witch in his mind, which result in…no response at all "Oh great…" Subaru rolled his eyes…well at least that witch is not causing any more trouble
Subaru recollected his mind after his second death then let out a heavy sign…
Come to think of it, because he technically dies and turns back in time…his debt with Satella simply doesn't exist…
"In that case, maybe it is a better choice to leave everything, using my knowledge to earn some coins and live the rest of my life in luxury!" Subaru mused to himself while chomping on the 'appa' that the shopkeeper gave him
'Believe it or not, that is a sensible choice. A choice that I don't think you are capable of thinking.' A childish voice of a certain witch echoes in his head
"Great…why are you here now?" Subaru made an annoyed face…
'As I said, I share your sense of appetite, so it's obligated for me to only appear when you eat something. This appa is delicious by the way, it has been so long since I taste stuff from the real world'
"That's dumb. No one asked." Subaru deadpanned
"HEY!" The witch shouted, which echo in his head, making Subaru felt more and more annoyed "Ehem… as I said, a contract is very valuable to a spirit, therefore I'm only acting according to my contract."
"Sound like a lame excuse for someone lazy…" Subaru has heard that excuse a lot, and in fact, most of them are from himself
'Anyway, stop talking out loud to me in public. Because only you can hear me, everyone will think you are a crazy man speaking to the air.'
'Anyway, any useful advice or you are just here to mock at my pitiful life?' Subaru beamed at Daphne a signal of sarcasm
'Of course! In fact, Daphne is the wisest witch ever alive…well maybe not the wisest but wise nevertheless!' Daphne said with a proud sensation
'Confident much…' Subaru signed
'Anyway…since you are technically a Demon Beast…a kind like um…Wolgarm perhaps? Which means you are technically more efficient at…detecting someone's scent, especially blood.'
'Great, now I'm really a dog.' Subaru shivered at the thought
'I mean you are not wrong…you are kind of stupid.'
'…'
Daphne said, but can't help laughing at Subaru's conflicted face
'Come to think of it…since I have this power…'
'I wouldn't recommend whatever you are thinking…that girl is pitiful you should probably leave her…she kinda has some uncanny resemblance to a certain someone though.'
'Yeah, she helps a total stranger, and seems a little bit…pure? But someone like that…' Subaru takes a deep breath "Is gonna end up wasting all her life!"
'Stop shouting! I know!' Daphne signed 'Save her or not is your choice, but don't get yourself killed…since I'm contracted to you, my wise self will be forced to share some of your burden, which is not fun at all.'
And just like that, the witch once again disappear
"Annoying."
'I can still hear you!' The witch's voice echoes in his head, but Subaru simply ignores it…
"Okay…now I must get to the loot house…trade for Satella's insignia and get out, everyone happy." Subaru images a sketchy plan inside his head
As Subaru set his foot in the same alleyway…he once again meets the thug trio, which he almost killed in the previous run.
"Jeez…" Subaru signed to himself as he saw the thugs
"You! Yes, you! If you know what is good for you, you'd better cough up whatever you got." The biggest guy said, trying his best to act menacingly, which is sad to say, entirely useless to Subaru.
Subaru stands still for a bit, keep an eye on their movement…could he use his ability now that he can control them properly? No, there may be a chance that Reinhard comes and just slice his head off with that sword.
Come to think of it, Reinhard must have come because the thugs were calling for help…so if Subaru can play his card right, which is keeping himself viewed as a victim, maybe this will be different…who knows?
And only a moment which felt like an eternity, Subaru decided his best course of action…
"GUARD!" Subaru swallowed his pride, and shouting at the top of his lungs…
"What the hell, you bastard?!" The thugs seemed to be startled by this
Nothing happened…
"Don't scare me like that! I might have freaked out, just a little." The big one got his act together, though Subaru can probably sense that thug's heart jump out of his chest when Subaru screamed…
"Just a little bit…"
"Just a tiny little bit…"
Subaru signed…it was worth a try, he supposed…
The thugs start showing their weapons, maybe in an attempt to threaten him further…
"You won't get away with this!" Such arrogance…Subaru almost felt pity for them
Subaru takes a deep breath and readies himself into a fighting stance…even without his power, he is certain those thugs are just normal people…this should be no problem.
The thugs charge at him with his knife, which Subaru easily dodged…
His body felt surprisingly agile, now Subaru viewed the thug's movement as sluggish…but came with an intent to harm…
Subaru reacted quickly and sprint for the smallest one, and a kick in the face knocked him out cold
"You will pay for this!" Subaru felt a disturbance in the wind, which he ducks in time to dodge the incoming knife…
'Right…my senses were enhanced…' Subaru mused to himself
Subaru then used this opportunity to punch the slim thugs in the gut…but that may be too far as he fell into the ground, coughing up blood…
'Oh, shit…my strength was enhanced, too.'
The big one seems to be pretty afraid after seeing his friend get knocked out so easily…Subaru just takes out both of his friends empty-handed…
"Go," Subaru said simply
"What?" The thugs said, clearly dumb folded by the statements
"I have no wish to fight you any further, so you better go now if you know what's good for you."
"I-thank you, kind sir! We will never do it again!" The thug said while quickly run to drag his friend away from the scene
As Subaru sees them disappear, he signed in relief…
Problem solved.
"It would be quite an impressive performance you did back then." A familiar voice comes from his back, which Subaru noticed is the swordman with red hair…
"Reinhard?!" Subaru said out loud, surprised by Reinhard's presence
"I see that you have heard about me."
"Yeah…perhaps…maybe. Not much, really." Subaru said, scratching his head…the individual standing before him is much stronger than him, and that's a fact…
"Then let me properly introduce myself. My name is Reinhard van Astrea. I was referred to as the current Sword Saint." Reinhard said, remaining polite in his words. Damn it, this man is too humble for his own good…
"My name…is Subaru Natsuki."
"Subaru Natsuki? That's not a common name around here…and your black hair means that you are not likely from Lugnica."
"I guess you can say that…I'm kinda lost around here." Subaru said, trying to find an appropriate question to ask "Wait! Have you been watching the fight?"
"My apology for not immediately respond to your call, but as I observe, I wasn't certain which side was the call comes from. I was going to intervene when you injure these men, but there was no sign of hostility come from you."
'I guess that kinda makes sense…So he will come to defend me if I acted like some kind of damsel in distress?! No way!' Subaru thought to himself.
In truth, Reinhard knew that Subaru was the one called…his accent is not that different, but distinctive from the local…
But the Dragon Sword tells him otherwise as to the man, seeming dumbfounded before him…
…Is qualified…
"Well, thanks anyway." Subaru signed as he process to keep going…he didn't get sliced in half, so that's a good sign
"Wait Subaru-" Just as Subaru took his first step, he heard the voice of the red-hair swordman behind "You seem to be quite anxious. I was wondering if there is something I could help."
'Help?' Wait, come to think of it, this man beat him so he would have a better chance at beating that woman in black, should push come to shove…
"Well yes, could you-" Subaru suddenly stopped "Do you a girl with white robe and silver hair nearby?"
"Oh! And she is extremely gorgeous!"
"No, I haven't."
"Oh…" Subaru seems to be a little disappointed "But if you come to pass her, could you tell her not to go near the loot house? I will bring whatever she lost back to her."
"Very well. I shall relay your message."
"Thanks! I will repay you someday!" Subaru said cheerfully…now that's one problem taken care of…Satella-whatever her name is safety. Now he just needs to get the insignia.
"Yeah. Take care." Reinhard continues to observe Subaru as he ran away, assuming he is doing something important…
It is best that Reinhard keep an eye on this individual…
After a while of racking his brain and try to find the loot house, it still takes a while for Subaru to get to the slum
"Seriously? Did that contract make me dumber or something?" Subaru finds it pretty unsettling that his memory is slipping faster than normal…he will have to ask Daphne later about this…
Subaru sprints through the slum, he must get that insignia before-
"Oof!" Subaru felt himself bumping into someone, which made him lose balance and fall to the ground...
"Oh! Are you okay?!" A gentle feminine voice called him
In front, he stood a girl with pale gold eyes, along with her distinctive green eyes. She looks taller than him with…fangs?
"What are those chomper?!" Subaru yelped in surprise but quickly knew he was being rude "Sorry! I was in a hurry!"
All things considered, she seems quite beautiful, minus those sharp teeth of her of course.
The girl gives Subaru a light chuckle as she offers him a hand
"I guess my appearance startled you a bit. Here! Can you stand up!"
In Subaru's mind, there had been this screen somewhere in his head, it just somehow reversed in reality
"Yeah. Thanks." Subaru was thankful, yet he was kind of embarrassed, too.
"My name is Subaru Natsuki by the way…sorry if I was being rude." Subaru bowled his head in an attempt to apologize "I am…kinda surprised by your appearance. No offense."
"None taken. My name is Frederica Baumann and it's a pleasure to meet you, Natsuki-san."
"Jeez, I'm sure it's not. The first thing I said was embarrassing things." Subaru gives Frederica a light-hearted laugh, probably a pathetic attempt to hide his nervousness…
"You seem to have quite a sense of humor."
"Ehem." Subaru looked away, even if she is not as gorgeous as Satella, he was still nervous about talking to any girl he considered to be…nice. "Sorry, I was quite in a hurry. But I really need to go. A friend of mine lost something important and I need to get it back for her."
"Oh…" Frederica was kinda disappointed at how short the conversation is but…"In that case, can I help you with something? You seem kinda distressed about it, so would it be a problem if I to lend a hand?"
"There is no need for that. Thanks for the offer though!" Frederica just stood there a bit while watching Subaru ran away, not forgetting to wave a hand…
All things considered…this boy seems normal enough. But something about him is seriously bugging her…his aura, or to be more precise his scent.
It's something ancient…something dangerous, like a vessel, is being filled at incredible speed…Subaru, was no human…is he even really alive?
Besides that, Frederica decided to follow him…One reason was curiosity and the other was probably goodwill as she can see the anxious look on his face…he was definitely facing something dangerous. It wasn't her problem, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to help a stranger.
As Frederica followed Subaru, she can see him entering a crumbling house in the slum, like some kind of warehouse…
What kind of things he was going to retrieve? It seems shady to take something at a place like this. Does Frederica focus her ear in an attempt to eavesdrop on the conversation taken inside?
'There is one thing I want….I want to…the insignia you stole…'
An insignia? That indeed seems serious…
'Are serious-'
"Frederica?" A gentle, familiar voice called to her…it was-
"Emilia-same?!" Frederica almost yelped in surprise...she was too engrossed in hearing the content that she didn't know Emilia was coming "May I ask what are you doing in a place like this?"
"Oh…about that…I lost something. Well, robbed of something but I managed to track the thief to here!" Emilia said…while Frederica signed again in her mind…Emilia seems to never change after all.
But now come to think of it, the things Emilia said kinda matched Suabru's…so maybe there's a chance-
"Do you know someone named…Subaru?" Frederica uncertainly asked
"No…is he a friend of yours?" Emilia tilted her head in confusion
"No…not really. You should head inside if you want to retrieve your lost belonging."
"That's gonna be a problem since I doubt it can be retrieved through diplomatic means." A tiny cat flies out behind Emilia's hair said out loud.
"Puck-sama." Frederica carefully addressed the Great Spirit
"Long time no see…um…Frederica, isn't it?" The spirit suddenly fly close to her
"Yes, Puck-sama."
"Perhaps you could help my daughter out a bit since…y'know…she isn't really good at things like this."
"As you wish, Puck-sama." Frederica bowled her head in response
"Now, now, I'm sure I can handle it on my own." Emilia raise her hand, start to protest
"It's fine, Emilia-sama. I don't mind helping you out." Frederica gives Emilia a word of assurance.
"Then let's go inside. Please, try not to hurt anyone, even if things go south." Emilia said, which Frederica simply nodded in response.
Frederica moved to the door and simply knocked at it…
'Who's that?"
'It might be for me. It's a little early though.'
'Don't open it! W-we will be killed!'
But despite the warning, Frederica can hear the creaking sound of the door being opened…
"Kill you? I wouldn't do something so terrifying." Frederica heard the voice of Emilia from her back.
Frederica can hear the shock and surprise of the people inside, including that boy Subaru.
"Don't worry. We don't mean any harm." Frederica said in a calm and collected tone…the little girl seems pretty anxious, but Subaru lets out a sigh of relief.
Emilia immediately push past Frederica, eyes looking kinda upset
"I'm glad you are here. This time you won't get way."
"You never quit, do you?" The little girl sneered in respond
"Sorry, but this is not something I can give up on. It's very important to me." Emilia summons six icicles around her…probably in an attempt to appear intimidating. Though if Frederica's thought is correct, it was just for show.
Suddenly, a man appears to be a Giant, who is standing in the sides with Subaru gives his word
"If she were another magic user, I wouldn't back down but this one is trouble…" The Giant said, he clearly wants to avoid the fight
"What's with you, Old man Rom? Admitting defeat before we even fight?" The little girl appears to be annoyed
"Young lady…you are an elf, ain't ya?" The Giant 'Rom' asked
"Not really, I am just a half-elf," Emilia respond, still focusing her eyes
"A half-elf… and with silver hair… wait, are you… " The little said, a voice shaking a bit…It's a natural response and Emilia-
"It's an accidental resemblance! Really, it's bothersome to me." Emilia waved in annoyance at the cowering girl.
Subaru just looked at Emilia and Felt not knowing what to do…wait! Isn't he suppose to be a part of this? Frederica mused to herself
"You set me up, didn't you?" The little girl glared and pointed at Subaru while making an accusation
"Huh? No, I didn't do anything…"
"After you said you'd return it to its owner, I thought you were suspicious!"
"What do you mean? You two aren't working together?"Emilia looked at them, it seems like she is confused as well…
Suddenly, Frederica swore she saw a smile on Subaru's face
"Hey what are you laughing about?!" Indeed…it seemed quite weird…and suspicious to see Subaru's reaction
"Come on, isn't that enough? Return her insignia." Subaru said to Felt.
"And you Sat- You, hurry and get out of here. Try not to let anyone steal again." Subaru just looked at Emilia and simply said
"Why are you suddenly being so nice? I don't understand at all." It seems to take Emilia by surprise…as she witnesses a single act of kindness
"I don't understand you, Either! what's up with you?" The little girl stomped down her foot in anger…
And Subaru…he just stood there smiling at them...
But suddenly, his facial expression changed.
"Frederica, dodge!" Subaru shouted as Frederica instinctively moved aside, feeling a blade rip through her dress…luckily, she was unhurt as the blade was just a hair's breadth from her flesh
Emilia turned around in surprise but immediately summon icicles at the figures, forcing them to jump out of the way…
The figures come to a halt, revealing it was a woman with black hair, as her purple eyes seem gentle and calm, yet the sense of sadistic oozing from every ounce of her body
"Thank you, Natsuki-san." Frederica express her gratitude as she ready herself into her fighting stance
"No problem, Frederica." Subaru smiled and gives her a thump-up, but his eyes quickly fix on the woman with black hair
"My my, it seems that there are more people than I expected." The woman in black, who Subaru knew by the name Elsa Grandhiert said as she wears a sadistic smile
And as swift as lightning, she went for Emilia but only get blocked by Frederica's unrelenting punches. That Frederica was a warrior, too.
"Out of my way." Elsa swung her knife at Frederica with insane speed, forcing her to fall back, but buying enough time for Emilia to land some icicles on Elsa's shoulder…
Although what concerns Subaru is the fact that Elsa appeared to be unfazed about it. It seems that it will take more than…much more to take that woman down.
"My my…it appears that I let my guard down for a bit." Elsa licked her lip in amusement
Suddenly, out of thin air, a tiny floating cat appears, letting out a yawn in disinterest
"Puck!" Subaru silently scream in relief at the appearance of the Great Spirit
"A spirit. that's a spirit, right? How wonderful."
"I have never dissected a spirit's stomach before." Elsa giggled…seriously, this woman is as creepy as hell…what with the obsession with gut and stomach?
"What are you doing?!" I Felt asked in confusion…seems like Elsa's performance have left her feeling alarmed.
"If the item's original owner is here, we can hardly negotiate. So, I have changed my plans. I shall slaughter everyone here. You failed to see your job through to the end. You talk a big game but you do terrible work. You really are just another slum dweller." Elsa gave Felt a smile that sent chill down to her bone while tilting her head
"You-" Felt growled at the woman in furious but notice her inability to do anything at the moment, decided to lay her head low
" Do you have any idea how absurd you are right now, you gut-loving sadist? It seems like your plan get thrown off so you decide to flip the table? Do you know how much having your belly cut open hurts? Well, I do!"
"What are you talking about?"
"You are something even lower than the so-called 'slum dweller'. Now if you know what is good for you, you'd better go home and cry to your Mama." Subaru suddenly noticed a startled look on Elsa's face…he must have hit a soft spot
Elsa suddenly looked kinda…angry as her sadistic attitude gone into resentment as she readied her blade
"Okay, done buying time for you, Puck!" Subaru shouted out as the spirit now faced Elsa instead of him
"We haven't introduced ourselves, have we? My name's Puck. Remember my name after you die." Puck shot a bunch of ice shards at Elsa…those ice seems pretty lethal, too
But it seems that Elsa covered herself in her black cloak and let herself be encased with ice…in an attempt to do something?
"Did they get here?"
"Don't trigger that flag old man!"
The dust settled to reveal Elsa encased in ice and immobile.
"One should always be prepared." Elsa's voice lingered within the ice as her cloak glowed, destroying the ice within
Her cloak disappeared and revealed her smirking form as she ran towards Emilia
Frederica still felt a little bit aftershock, but given that she has experience in this, she gets over it quite quickly…
The fight is mostly 1 against 1 as the Great Spirit and the woman in black, though it seems that the woman has a disadvantage, as far Frederica can remember, Puck can't last for much longer.
"If it turns into a battle of attrition, we should have a chance," Subaru said behind her
"No, for a spirit, the real battle is how long they can stay corporeal," Frederica responded, fixing her eyes on the fight
"That's right, it must be almost five… " Subaru said, gaining Frederica's attention as she is surprised he knew this fact about the Great Spirit
"Can you do anything about it?" Subaru asked
"I was specialized in close combat, but I don't have any weapon. I doubt I can be anything but a hindrance to her."
"Frederica…the more people in the room, the more it's likely to cause trouble. In case things go south, could you take Felt and flee?"
"Flee? How could I run away while everyone is risking their life."
"Felt is still a kid. And I think we can hold out for a while…and you also need to call for help. Even if everyone joins the force, I doubt we can take her…not really."
"I see." Though as much as she hates it, Subaru has a point…the spirit won't last long, and they can't defeat an assassin as seasoned as that woman
"Puck, can you keep going?" Satella asked the cat on her shoulder.
"Sorry, I'm really sleepy… I underestimated her a bit… My mana's gone, so I have to disappear."
"I'll take care of things here, so you can rest. Thank you."
The spirit then whispers something to Emilia as he disappears
"You're going away? Well, that is very unfortunate?" Elsa quickly charged at Emilia
The fight drags out as it seems that Elsa gained the upper hand…her relentless attack forced Emilia to go full defensive.
At some point, Rom decided to intervene, but almost get his head cut off if it wasn't for Felt
"You bad girl… " Elsa said in an upset tone, making Felt recoiled in fear.
"You have neither the resolve nor the strength to fight. You should have at least stayed in the corner, making yourself small."
But just as the blade is about to cut Felt in half, Subaru jumps in to get Felt out of the way…barely. Luckily, Emilia is still around to keep Elsa occupied so he and Felt can get away.
"Don't let she get to you, Felt. You are doing your best to live strong, right? I'm sure some petty gut-loving sadist like her won't understand, and she never will."
"What are you-" Felt, at that moment, feel hesitant about the boy's word…
"Felt, live strong…" Subaru said the word, leaving Felt even more confused "Frederica, take her out of here!"
Frederica quickly make her way to Subaru's side
"Are you sure you don't want to go?" Frederica asked, feeling uncertain about leaving Subaru behind
"I doubt Sat- she can hold out by herself…don't worry, I will cover you," Subaru said as he picked up Rom's club, readied himself
"GO!" Subaru said as she sprints forward at Elsa while Frederica, carried Felt making for the door
"We can't just leave him! He gonna get killed." Felt protested
"He made his own choice…we can't let it be in vain," Frederica said simply
Subaru swings the club at Elsa, but she seems to be quite good at dodging it. Well, the main point is, Subaru is buying them sometimes.
Seeing Frederica and Felt get close to the door, Elsa smirked
"Do you really think I will let them go?" Elsa quickly, beyond human speed, threw a dagger at the duo, the Frederica managed to shrugged it off, as Subaru kept Elsa busy before she can throw any more knives.
"Look like you will after all," Subaru smirked as he jumped back, barely dodged a blade in his face
'Even with advanced senses, I am still barely kept up with her.' Subaru thought to himself 'Maybe I can…'
"Just now, I do feel a little annoyed..."
"Well, we all make mistakes. But two is a pretty big number for an assassin, isn't it?" Subaru can see Elsa's eyes narrowed at his mocking word…he is the best candidate for being annoying, after all.
"Ah. I can see your movement are quite agile. You could make a good dance…" Elsa said while smiling darkly "If you have experience."
The world suddenly like shifting around Subaru as he felt himself losing balance
'Damn it. I let my guard down.'
Elsa's strike was quick and before he knew it, his arm was sprouting out blood, and his neck would have too if Satella didn't manage to attract Elsa with her spike
"Don't you forget about me?"
"You are getting annoying with that dull trick of yours," Elsa said as she decided to go for Satella
This is bad, Satella can't hold out for long against her. And one of his arms is bleeding badly.
Suddenly, Subaru felt an intense headache as he heard sizzling in his arm…his flesh is putting itself together
'A healing factor?' Subaru thought as he quickly grabs Rom's club "No use thinking about it now."
"Take this!" Subaru screamed as he runs toward Elsa…for a moment, she looked surprised but quickly ready herself a block the blunt attack from above
It's a shame that isn't Subaru's intention as he let go of the club…time stopped around him…
'Focus.'
Subaru can felt his claw growing and fast as lighting, Subaru does a quick slash through her gut…he can feel the gore on his claw as blood spurt all over his face
"Have a taste of your own medicine, bitch."
Surprised, Elsa wore a pained expression as she staggers backward
"Y-you…" She whimpered "You are even better than I thought!" Elsa's smile turns into a maniacal one.
'Oh no.'
Before Subaru can fully register, he received a hard kick in the face, which sent him flying into a table. Subaru can felt his arm getting impaled by some sharp wood pieces.
Satella tries to get in the way, but Elsa immediately throws a knife, which is surprisingly precise, as it runs through Satella's shoulder, making her stagger unable to interfere.
"Now it's just me and you." Elsa smirked as she ready her knives "I wonder what your bowel look like?"
No…I can't end here…
'I don't want to die…'
'It hurts…'
'I don't want to go through this again…if I die now…she will-'
Subaru, despite all, can't feel any energy in his body…all he felt now was something empty…
He felt that he need to fill something…
He felt so…so…hungry. Hungry? Hunger? Is that what it-
He saw the world around him turning red, the color of blood…
Elsa has seen many things throughout her life as an assassin…a life dangerous and painful…
She faced knights, swordmen, mages, or even her own kind…but this thing.
It's more twisted than a cursed doll, as she can somehow felt endless gluttony oozing from it…this boy is more than what he seems…
He is no human…
Subaru, now suddenly get on his feet, with his eyes closed, the air seemed considerable more still…then that eyes was opened…
One moment, Elsa was curious…but she soon regrets it…
She shouldn't have looked…
Elsa can't move…she felt her own body paralyzed as she desperately wants to reach for her neck…it was an itch, burning pain exploded from inside but she sees no wound. And only this one time, she was completely helpless…
That boy stood there then moving his mouth to a grin, revealing the sharp teeth which she swore was not there before…
Then Elsa, The Bowel Hunter, was pinned into the ground as she felt that creature crave into her flesh, its teeth run deep down to her bone as she was slowly being consumed…
Slowly and painfully…
It won't stop…she wasn't supposed to feel pain…she wasn't supposed to feel afraid. A Bowel Hunter fights with their life…but those eyes…
There is no escape from these creatures…she can feel her arm slowly being torn apart, feeding the monster…then her leg…
The bowel hunter was helpless…as she felt her life force being suck into this monster…
Elsa, knew that this death won't be the end of her…and that's what scares her the most…
Is this despair that she felt?
"Emilia-sama!" Emilia felt a voice calling out for her
"Here. I'm over here." Emilia yanked the blade from her shoulder, as she applied her magic to soothe the pain
"Emilia-sama! You're okay!" Frederica expresses her relief at seeing Emilia safe "Do you know where Subaru is? The one with black hair?"
"Over there…he is over there." Emilia pointed to the spot behind the bar, but anyone could see there is blood leaking from behind…and there is a lot of blood.
Frederica readies herself as she goes around the bar to take a good look at the scene…and prepare for the worst as she ready herself for whatever decide to attack her…
But what she sees is not…it is simply absurd…it can't be possible…
She saw a mutilated body…behind the recognition and Subaru laid beside it…his clothes were completely torn apart and bruises all over his body, like someone, desperately kick him in an attempt to escape…
And she looked into his face…his teeth…
They were pieces of flesh in it…
Frederica felt the urge to vomit…surely it can't be-
"Sharp-teeth! I brought help!" The voice of a certain little girl can be heard from behind her.
"Wait? Why there isn't any fighting? Where did that bitch go?" Felt, who apparently followed by a red-hair knight, entered the loot house…or what was left of it
"Sharp-teeth? What's the problem? What happened? Hey, hey!"
Frederica felt sick…
Anyway, that's the chapter…I guess? This was longer than I expected. I don't really want to make Subaru too OP so no one-hit attack like Naruto.
To be honest, IDK why I am still writing? Mostly I'm just looking for a good re-zero fanfiction, which is somehow so damn rare!
I read WHDAAA a lot before this…and now I'm looking for the next chapter. Who I'm I kidding, I'm ranting again.
*The eyes of terror: An ability that transfers a mental pain from Subaru's death to a target. They felt exactly what he felt…so ironically, if he wants it to work on someone strong like Reinhard, he will need to experience a VERY painful death. I mostly add it because Subaru's eyes are kinda evil :)
And once again, not sure ab the next chapter, so happy reading for now.
