August 1, 1974 P.C./ 1639 C.C.Y.
Today was a special day for the Kingdom of Altaras. Namely, on that day new ships for their navy were to be commissioned. These were the already proven 912M project ships called the Grozny type. They were chasers officially. In reality, because they were the modernized version of the 912, they were in fact patrol ships.
This resulted from two reasons, the first because of the extension of the Polish definition, the second because of the need to get new ships of this type, and the project 620 which was to replace the chasers with new corvettes according to the development of ships was in suspension because of the disappearance of the USSR. Because of this, de facto they started to plan again a big part of the new ship, but this time with more money and pressure to develop what PRL didn't have.
The other thing is that according to the Warsaw Pact doctrine such ships were multi-purpose and easily fulfilled both functions.
So far the first batch of four ships had been completed and the next four were on the way. The project was given priority for political reasons, therefore they managed to finish all eight ships in three months. That is, they broke their own record, considering that the Polish ships of the Grozny type had been under construction for two years. The ships themselves did not have any changes in relation to the original, except of course for the improvements in their construction which only sped up the whole process, and the removal of the ASW equipment and replacing it with mines.
The new ships were named Couragex after the lead ship.
Description and technical data of the Altaran Couragex class ships. Report to JDSF
The ship itself is based on Project 912M and is called Grozny by Poles, which means Dangerous and not the name of the city in USSR and in NATO code Obluze Mod.
Looking at it's appearance and official armament data it is a patrol craft not a chaser. Removed for ease of use and simply because there is no point in Altaras having such equipment, all related to anti-submarine warfare. Their possible future enemy will not have such ships, and the equipment itself is outdated even for Poland, moreover, they themselves say in the official instructions that the task of fighting submarines is SECONDARY.
However, the project itself should be evaluated as a very good patrol vessel and a modern one for Poland. The original 912 project called the Fala class was developed in the late 1960's. Compared to the Fala, the Couragex class ships are what the Grozny class ships were originally intended to be. The design itself, of course, for reasons of delayed construction did not undergo any significant changes, but the layout of rooms and passageways was improved even more and the superstructure was redesigned more, increasing the firing angle even more compared to the slight change in Grozny in this respect.
In addition, by getting rid of the obsolete hydrophone, more space was gained which was devoted to enlarged boiler rooms and places for storing mines and for increasing the range.
The ship itself is equipped with an artillery fire control radar, which has the Grozny class, greatly increasing its combat effectiveness in comparison with the Fala class.
The combat rating, in my opinion, should be high. The ship performs its tasks perfectly and the sailors very quickly took a liking to these ships. Their good seaworthiness as in the original design was only improved. It has not been set very high due to the fact that Altaras sailors trained on new ships may feel insecure about the new technology.

Meanwhile, the sailors quickly, with the help of their princess, held a ceremony to take over the ships and incorporate them into the Altaran fleet. The ships themselves were to be escorted by ORP Grom. Originally it was to be ORP Blyskawica, but the ship needed more time for a general overhaul, the most troublesome being the installation of a new propulsion unit in place of the old one, which had been so badly damaged that it was simply not worth repairing any more.
Thanks to the fact that information about Japanese ships is widely known, it was intended to maintain the advantage of greater speed of the ship, allowing in a possible war to escape from the Japanese. The only thing that would be changed would be to increase the acceleration to better utilize this advantage and just not give the chance to get hit. If the new project would succeed all new ships were to be modernized in new type of steam turbines. The choice fell on this because of the lack of technology and skills to build suitable gas turbines. The only other option was to use diesel engines. And the usual lack of time and desire to combine with unknown technology.
The Blyskawica itself was to be a ship packed to the brim with modern prototypes which were to be put into serial production.
Back to Princess Lumies. She was extremely worried about the upcoming war. The order that came to Altaras from Parpaldia was extremely humiliating and ridiculous. Just accepting it would make Altaras a de facto colony and she herself would probably be a toy for a few nobles and then according to the words of the Parpaldian ambassador, when she got bored she would be sold to a brothel.
It does not have to be said that such outrageous demands were rejected without hesitation and caused fury in Altaras and accelerated the pace of training. And to the army and navy began to apply more volunteers for the future war. In Poland itself, the demands were disclosed by the first secretary Gierek, together with the demands of Parpaldia to Poland. The only thing they caused was laughter and a desire to show the Emperor where he could shove these demands.
And the words of Ambassador Parpaldii which unknown ways to get out of the Embassy Altaras to ordinary Poles caused the same as in Altarans. Making him want to pay for how he is going to treat Księżniczka Łucja. She got this nickname from Poles because of the mere similarity in sound to Lumies. The name itself and the nickname is always pronounced with affection as if it were their own princess. It goes without saying that the authorities, after initial attempts, gave up on removing such an approach from the public space. And what's more, it began to use it for anti-Parpal propaganda.
''Princess Lumies known for her friendship to the Polish people thanks to which she gained the name Księżniczka Łucja, was to be cruelly hounded by the enemy of the people and oppressor of the peoples Empire of Parpaldia.'' Said the Polish announcer from the propaganda chronicles of the Polish People's Republic. ''Their ambassador to the Kingdom of Altaras allied the people with their progressive king, wanted her to be put into humiliating slavery where she was to be used like a woman of light manners, which of course conflicts with the princess' delicate and noble nature.'' The image on the film shows the princess visiting a Polish school and greeting Polish children.
The children themselves referred to her in a friendly manner. And they asked questions which the princess gladly answered. ''How does it feel to be a princess?'' asked a little girl from the 4th grade of elementary school. The princess thought for a moment and then with her melodious voice and accent she answered in Polish. ''It is hard work to improve the lot of ordinary people. Like you or your parents or other family members. It can be exhausting at times, but the smiles on the faces of my people are worth it afterwards.'' While others show her supporting the common people of her homeland with her own money. Another shows her learning with interest the art of gastronomy at a Polish cooking school.
Then the picture changes and shows aerial photographs taken over the Parpaldi Empire, and the announcer says ''The Parpaldi Empire, a true symbol of the exploitation of ordinary people...
Coast about 130 km northeast of the Kingdom of Altaras, offshore
November 24, 1639 C.C.Y./ 1974 P.C.
8:30
On this sunny warm day without much wind and billowing clouds, a huge armada of ships sailed by. Disturbing the peace and cutting the air with white streaks.
A fleet of 314 ships was heading southwest to invade Altaras. It was a huge armada belonging to the Imperial Army of Parpadia, unlike the forces sent in the Fenn incident which belonged to the Supervisor Armies. It consisted of 211 100-gun ships of the line and other smaller vessels. In addition, there were also 12 dragon carriers that could act as aircraft carriers and 101 transport ships carrying ground troops.
As far as the area of the Third Civilization was concerned, they were a force to be reckoned with, and the magical smashing of them without losses should be put among the fairy tales that circulate about Japanese strength.
Their tremendous striking power was also the reason why no one was going to oppose them and the mere threat of their use caused them to surrender.
Their orders were clear, annihilate the Kingdom of Altaras. And the one to do it was General Cius, known for his lack of mercy and cold blood. Looking out at the sea, he watched it with cold eyes as if he could freeze it into ice. ''We will soon be within range of the wyvern of the Kingdom of Altaras'' A report delivered to his ears sounded.
''So they haven't arrived yet... As soon as they detect something on the anti-aircraft magic detector, send a hundred dragon riders on alert. Other than that, all other matters are under your command'' He said to the designated fleet commander.
The anti-aircraft magic detector was specifically designed to be able to detect magic in wyverns out of sight. Unfortunately for them, they did not see the Polish attack jets flying towards them with the intention of destroying them quickly.
In turn, about 50 km away stood the Altaras Flotilla which, due to the fact that the planet is larger than Earth, despite the lack of greater gravitational pressure, began to see them from the horizon. Of course, due to the long distance, it did not open fire or try to approach them. Her only job was to observe and, after hitting the Poles from the air, quickly raid between the ships.
The ships chosen for the raid were the newly-incarnated chasers, which were to take advantage of their greater speed than the ships to the wind and with their two double-coupled guns make a mess and drag the ships into the minefield laid by the chasers.
General Cius whose mantra was to inflict minimum damage for maximum effect looked coldly at the newly sighted Altaras ships. The small chasers looked puny compared to his ships. The tiny ones with two cannons each at the front and rear did not look threatening. And the strange masts on the ships made him laugh, as if those barbarians did not know how to build ships properly.
About 68 km from the Parpaldia Fleet Polish Lim-6bis fighter planes flew high in the air. Their total number was 50 planes and their task was to strike at the enemy fleet, first at their dragon carriers and then at their troop carriers. The line ships themselves were to be left last because they were the least threatening to the defense forces.
Noticing their target, the two air regiments assigned to this task changed their formation to assault and began to descend toward the enemy. The first blow was inflicted by Limas armed with unguided rockets. Quickly and without ceremony they sent their rockets at the almost motionless targets for the pilots. The enemy did not even have time to react when the first rockets arrived and hit their target.
Their target was of course the enemy carriers, the first strike killed some of the enemy wyverns and then set the ships on fire. A couple of them were pierced through and water began to seep into the ships. The panic in the fleet quickly began to spread, but when the captains tried to calm them down the Lima flew over the fleet and dropped their bombs directly on the carriers, instantly sinking the ships they hit.
The effect of the bomb hit was terrifying that even the captains froze and began to panic. Namely, from the hit ships remained only pieces torn by the explosion of bombs, which began to fly in all directions damaging the neighboring ships and killing people on their decks. Unfortunately for the Parpaldians, this was only the beginning of the raid.
Polish planes quickly turned back and started again the same act of terror in the same way. First, the rockets hit the remaining carriers that had missed and knocked out those that did not want to go down quickly. Some of the rockets hit the miraculously surviving wyverns which flew up in the hope of catching the attacking enemy.
What the missiles didn't do to the surviving Parpaldian air force, the three cannons of those Lims did, ripping through the riders and their mounts like a sieve. Then after massacring the wyverns they fled into the air to finish their attack by firing their cannons at the ships in the next hit. In turn the rest of the Lims dropped their second bomb compounding the damage done in the first hit and causing madness in many sailors.
Then both regiments struck in two strikes flying over the enemy fleet and tearing to shreds with their guns enemy sailors and ships whose antimagic coating did not protect them from the Poles' impact. Then, after running out of ammunition, the Lima returned to their base leaving behind a horrifying picture of destruction.
Screams of panic and moans of the dying slowly subsided as the madness ended.
Relieved, the terrorized sailors looked up to the sky and asked themselves What the hell are those silver monsters with red-white checks on their wings? The blow delivered by the Poles was solid and resulted in the loss of all the dragon carriers and the sinking of 38 carriers, some of the bombs missed and some hit other ships. The cable ships, on the other hand, lost 16, mainly due to missed bombs and rockets that hit them because of mistaking them for carriers, and guns.
Unfortunately, this was not the end of the losses suffered this morning. Immediately after the Poles struck, the Altaran chasers went on the attack, quickly and mercilessly striking the enemy ships, causing further losses. The speed with which the Altaras' ships moved did not allow them to be hit by the Parpaldians, who, feeling helpless, tried to sink them.
Those tiny ships that everyone laughed at before were now stalking them using their range advantage. Compared to the two kilometers that Parpaldia needed to shoot effectively, the Altarans on their chasers could do it from 4.7 kilometers. Using their speed advantage the Altarans were constantly running away from enemy ships trying to approach them. In the meantime, meanwhile, they were showing off the power of their AKM-230 dual-coupled Cannons.
The Altaran's only victims were the ships of the line, given that the carriers were in the middle of the formation protected by them, and the commander of the Altaran Bordo was not about to risk approaching the enemy for dubious gain. His goal was to drive the Parpaldians straight into the minefield they had set up, avoiding their own mines of course. Therefore their Flotilla, divided into two naval squadrons, raged around the formation of the Parpaldians, so that, driven by the desire of revenge, they went straight into the minefield.
Fortunately for the Altarans, General Cius realized the danger at the last moment, and part of his formation fell into the trap, joining his already fallen comrades of the day. Eventually the Altarans, having run out of ammunition and their barrels overheating, retreated by stealth towards their port.
As a result of the raid Parpaldia lost another 34 ships of the line, of which 14 were on mines. Another 50 were damaged, mainly by arson and holes. 108 ships of the Parpaldia went down that day.
General Cius standing on the deck of his flagship Thirant was furious as hell. His mighty fleet had been humiliated by a flotilla of tiny ships whose magical cannons had a greater range and rate of fire than the mighty magical cannons of his ships of the line. The general himself was lucky, he miraculously managed to avoid falling into a mine, unfortunately another ship that quickly pulled up in front of him was not so lucky. The flagship itself was full of holes. None of them threatened to sink, but the shells that made them set the ship on fire for a short while and killed almost half the crew.
The General's Adjutant, or more accurately, what was left of him after being hit by a 30mm shell, was a perfect example of what Altaran's magic cannons did. Of course it all had to be magic in the general's mind, because how else?
As for the iron wyvern, the general waved his hand. The surprise they caused was more than enough to inflict serious damage. Their great speed and the firepower they brought was more than enough for such a blow. It hurt his pride more to be humiliated at the hands of a known opponent than from an unknown one. In fact, he himself had seen what the 3 enemy iron wyverns had done when they attacked the formation of his Lord Wyvern. They tore them to shreds and ran away very quickly breaking all speed records known to him.
He guessed very quickly from the symbols that those who attacked them must be allies of those cursed Altarnian barbarians. Namely, that they were Poles, and after he cooled down he began to laugh possessively.
''General, what happened?'' The captain of the flagship asked anxiously. He was already full of nerves watching this spectacle of death and despair that the enemy had arranged for them and what he had to watch after it was all over did not help in calming down. The General stopped laughing and looked with madness in his eyes.
''You ask what happened? Nothing happened.'' He said in a worried tone. The captain swallowed his saliva with fear. ''Just to those barbarians why you should not mess with the Empire of Parpaldia. Those Polacks and their Altarian dogs. They will beg for my mercy when I burn their cities and dishonor their women.-He turned his head with a twitchy expression, theoretically expressing peace but the madness in his eyes contradicted it.
''They will remember our strength, and the Altarians will understand that the toys that the Poles gave them are worth nothing in the face of our power!'' He shouted, drawing the attention of the sailors on board. ''You will see how we will spear the heads of their leaders on our spears and throw those who oppose us to our dragons! All their wealth and women will belong to us for the insult they have done to us today! THESE COWARDLY POLACKS and their ALTARIAN CUNTS WILL FEEL OUR RAGE!''
The sailors, hearing this speech and enchanted by the gesticulation of their general, began to cheer and bring shouts of revenge. The only one who did not rejoice and was not enchanted, the captain of the ship, looked with horror at all this and, led perhaps by a subconscious vision of the future, quietly said - He is leading us to the slaughter, but our slaughter and no one will save us from this madman - No one noticed this doubt focused on what the general said further fueling the flames of bloody revenge.
Kingdom of Altaras
Coast in an empty land about 40 km north of Le Brias
25 November C.C.Y/ 1974 P.C.
12:00
The Parpaldia Fleet continued its journey without hindrance and the next day they arrived at the place where they were going to disembark and then march to the capital Altaras Le Brias. It was a land abandoned by God and man, where there was nothing worth noticing. No resources, just wilderness. However, it had the unusual advantage of being a place with a wide coastline and not far away was the road leading to the Capital, connecting it with a small city to the north.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of air forces, the landing had to be made through reconnaissance by combat, in case the enemy had prepared. Unfortunately for the attackers, this was the case. The scouts sent ashore detected nothing, fortunately for them there were no mines but explosive charges set off on command waiting for the landing ships.
The scouts themselves only briefly checked the coast without noticing anything strange. Or rather, despite the general's speech, they did not want to stay longer than necessary?
What the scouts didn't know was that the enemy could still see them from their hidden trenches and temporary bunkers and had their sights set on them at all times. Only the discipline instilled in their heads caused them not to open fire in an attempt to kill them for daring to stand armed on their soil. The scouts, after surveying the coast, quickly sailed back to the fleet reporting that the beach was clear.
They had no idea how close they had come to discovering one of the fortifications, literally a few steps away from being shot by the rifles of the team hiding there. It was only the luck of the moment that made the whole invasion force's trick work.
The plan they came up with together was simple. Hit the enemy fleet hard, but only once, so the enemy would think they could do it once and believe they were running away from them. The Polish jets were to hit the enemy fleet solidly and then leave it alone and then the Altaras Flotilla was to strike and show the strength of their chasers.
Here the plan was divided into two variants. Variant A in which the panicked fleet flees back to their homeland which causes them to begin preparations for a counter invasion.
Variant B was the answer to when the enemy intended to continue the invasion despite the losses. In this variant the intention was to leave the attackers alone until they landed their forces on the beach.
Fear in waiting to strike again should lead to disastrous mistakes. The intention was to dig in at the expected location of the enemy landing, which was easy to guess from the direction the fleet was moving. To avoid unnecessary detection and to draw as many of the enemy as possible into the place of the future battle, the intention was to allow the enemy to throw out reconnaissance and to hide the first line of fortifications very well. The next lines would be concealed in the woods behind the first line so that the enemy would not see them just in case from the air any wyverns survived.
When the enemy landed their ships on the coast, sappers were to come into action and blow up explosive charges in specially prepared hiding places all along the beach. The explosion itself was to take place when at least part of the enemy forces landed from the ships. Then the cannonade of artillery fire and the Lima raid were to begin.
As they thought, so they did; when it became apparent that the enemy was going to move on, preparations began for the surprise. When at noon the main enemy force landed on the beach the one who started the battle was the senior private Arduin of the Sapper Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division. On the orders of his commander, he blew up explosive charges under and beside the ships. The effect of his actions was plain to see as some of the enemy ships that were already on the beach were left in bloody shreds and some of them were half gone.
On a single order, the artillery of the third line came into action and began its terrifying symphony of death. The artillery fire effectively began to blow up more ships near the shore forcing the fleet to land. The barrier of artillery fire was effective in convincing the fleet that it was better to move ashore than to try and escape to the high seas. Fortunately for the attackers, only some of the ships were cut off. The unfortunate thing was that to the chased ships belonged also the flagship with the entire command and for the ships free from the ambush already waited sent ships Altaras and Poland.
And to their position rushed at full speed Lims, which this time did not intend to let go. Seeing what was happening General Cius ordered the land forces to attack the enemy cannons. Unfortunately for them, the first wave of soldiers on the beach that survived the explosion of the hidden explosives found themselves under fire from the infantry of the 1st Division dug into the hidden fortifications.
The first volley of rifles was all the more perfidious because they opened fire only 100 meters from the fortifications. For the Parpaldians, the enemy rose from the ground, mercilessly massacring the first line of soldiers. Immediately afterwards heavy machine guns, PMs, and ligth machine guns came into action and the real slaughter began. The combined fire of machine guns and rifles effectively removed the first wave of attack except for those who fell to the ground or hid in the caves after the explosion of the trap.
The Parpaldian soldiers responded feebly with fire from their muskets, firing with the hope of hitting anything and having a hard time as they tried to reload. The second wave of attack with hidden fear and loud battle cries moved ashore to support what was left of the first, they did better learning very quickly from their fallen comrades from the first wave that it was better to take cover than to fire in line.
The officers, who usually were reluctant to such arbitrary changes of tactics, this time did not object, wanting to survive and to be able to effectively strike at the Altaran hiding in trenches and bunkers. Those who were against either died at the hands of their own soldiers or were aided in this by the snipers of the 1st Division. The second wave suffered far fewer losses than the first, which is not to say that it suffered few losses. On the contrary, many regiments were completely wrecked when they landed on the beach and what was hidden was simply a collection of survivors.
Seeing what was happening General Cius ordered some ships to land sideways to the enemy in order to cover the infantry and artillery guns landing on the other side. In addition, he also ordered that the next waves of attack would be made by landing gunboats in hopes of reducing the possibility of regiments being broken up to a minimum as in the case of the first two waves.
The plan to use ships flanking the enemy to cover the landing infantrymen partially failed when hidden anti-tank guns came into action. And the mortars, so far silent, were ordered to fire on the enemies hiding behind the ships. Fortunately, the second idea turned out to be more successful and the 3rd wave regiments landed on the ground with the least losses.
Then they were joined by their own magic cannons, both in the horse-drawn version, although in this case they were simply pushed by ordinary soldiers, given that the horses were very restless and could not be landed safely, and those in the human version with less power, which were simply grenade launchers for their enemies. Now, with a good number of 20,000 regular infantry and a few batteries of cannons on the beach, General Cius ordered an attack using first small arms and stationary cannon fire and then after marching musket fire to end it with a simple bayonet charge.
The plan was implemented and surprised the defenders with their hand cannons. The firepower that then came out of the Parpaldian's guns increased the hitherto few killed and slightly more wounded to dozens wounded and killed. Their enemy was no fool and concentrated the fire of their magic cannons on the machine gun and anti-tank gun fire points.
This succeeded in eliminating some of the heavy gun emplacements although most were rather silenced for a while by the gun personnel having to take cover. Taking advantage of this fact the Parpaldia line infantry set off to attack in lines all the time firing salvoes in the direction of the enemy. The Altarans, after being initially confused by the enemy's new weapons, began to respond with fire, decimating the enemies advancing in lines.
Unfortunately, this seemed to be ineffective because it looked as if Parpaldia was going to drown the defenders in corpses, which was very possible. Facing the 20,000 men on the beach was an infantry regiment supported by one battalion each of sappers, artillery, and ppc artillery, along with a battalion of mortars and heavy weapons, with a total of 1,500 men.
It was obvious that as a result of the enemy attack the regiment would have to retreat. The problem was that this was precisely the 1st Division's plan, and the enemy was to be deliberately invited to strike at their positions so as to display their greatest asset, the land dragons they assumed the enemy possessed. In case of their absence the planned counter-attack was to take place earlier, considering that without them it was impossible to break through the second line of fortifications.
Seeing that the enemy was striking effectively using their large numbers according to the plan the retreat to the second line began. First the most important and time-consuming armaments were evacuated and then the regular infantry was to withdraw. The infantry itself fought fiercely against the enemy exchanging fire and grimly began to respect the Parpaldians who despite incurring losses pressed on.
Eventually the Parpaldians succeeded in making bayonet charges, unfortunately most of their charges hit a void as their enemy had already fled and destroyed the trench grass making it impossible to advance. In a few places, however, they managed to hit the enemy and lead to a fierce close combat with bayonets, swords, and other sharp objects for hand-to-hand combat.
The Altarans tried to flee rather than fight and only in one case did the Parpaldians manage to prevent the escape by killing all the defenders, the rest retreated despite their losses and buried the passage. In this one successful case the attackers managed to open a road to the trenches of the 2nd line, later this road became known as the road of blood.
Delighted, the soldiers that finally managed to push the cursed barbarians out of their holes began to immediately remove the bodies of fallen enemies and friends. Of course they threw the bodies of enemies without the slightest respect and even many of them spit on them. Of course many does not mean all, some of them preferred not to admit that they had begun to respect their enemies for their stubbornness and viciousness. Most, unfortunately, rather preferred revenge for lost comrades.
Altaras' artillery fell silent as if beheaded, allowing the fleet that had been separated from the attackers to see the work of destruction. The remaining ships were already sinking and survivors from them swam to shore in an attempt to save their lives. The image of their words said one thing. While they were being massacred on the coast, the enemy had annihilated the rest of the fleet, leaving less than one-quarter of the total fleet. What they did not know was that their enemy had released a couple of ships that had sailed slowly in panic to their homeland to be the ones to bring the news of the great calamity.
Anger returned to the army and General Cius became even more incensed and called for retaliation against their enemies. What was left of the army quickly landed on the beach and with hurried sailors prepared to attack the second line of fortifications the next day. The ships that had survived were left at anchor to be repaired by the sailors who had failed to support the attacking army this day.
Captain Alius commander of the flagship Thirant the only person who realized that this campaign is already lost was already dead, killed by a stray bullet from Mosin.
And the rest of the captains without thinking followed the orders of General Cius.
Kingdom of Altaras
Second line of fortifications
26 November C.C.Y/ 1974 P.C.
09:00
The next morning, the Parpaldia Imperial Army launched an assault with a total of 46,000 men. This battle was to be decisive and General Cius intended to open the way to the capital Altaras with this battle. Taking advantage of the previous day's experience, the line infantry of Parpaldia moved in a looser formation so as not to be mowed down like grain as in the previous day's battles.
The night itself passed quietly, poisoning the minds of the Parpaldians, for whom the battle they were in had taken place over a few hours, not an hour and a half as it turned out. The first sign of the start of the clash was when the defenders ran into mines. The attack did not stop despite this, the first braking lines were simply pushed forward by the following waves straight into the mines.
Polish observers assigned to the division commented this in only one way. ''It seems that the enemy general is like comrade Zhukov, when his infantry encounters a minefield, they attack the enemy position as if he was not there at all.'' General Cius, when he heard what happened, simply smoked his hand in his face muttering something about idiots running to the slaughter. Unluckily for the Parpaldia infantrymen such an ignorant play quickly cleared the minefield, although at the cost of many dead and many wounded. Their moans of agony, full of reproach to the world, made the march to the Altarians' position more pleasant for the next waves.
Unfortunately, the medics had enough work, apart from treating the wounded from yesterday, they had to deal with the next waves of wounded, like those who survived the mine explosion or the Altaras artillery, which opened fire right after the first waves of Parpaldian infantry crossed the minefield. The madness of war had begun, as the poets say.
Although the looser formation weakened the ability to erase entire ranks at once, it did not make the assault any easier for the attackers. The fire of mortars and artillery cannons behind the fortifications put down at once whole groups of infantrymen. Weapons of ordinary soldiers only pinned the enemy to the ground making the job easier for the artillerymen. This is a classic situation from the battles from the times of Napoleonic wars. Of course, the fighting sides were not aware of this.
Remembering how high losses they had suffered in the battle against the enemy General Cius sent all the miraculously saved 32 land dragons. They quickly joined the attack and made life difficult for the defenders, given that these creatures proved to be extremely tough and even capable of withstanding artillery shells in sufficient numbers to reach the defensive lines.
And this is where the defense plan went awry. Their considerable strength allowed them to break through the minefield with brute force and penetrate the defenders' fortifications. Of course this cost the attackers 6 of the dragons, but the attackers did not stop them from retaliating. Seeing this, it was decided to call in air support to bombard the rear of the attacking infantry and remove the possible threat from the mounted magic cannon batteries. The role of destroying the land dragons was to be taken by an armored regiment of the 1st Division.
In the meantime, on the hidden road to the 2nd line of fortifications, fierce battles were being fought between the defenders and the attackers, who in this case fared very poorly. The machine gun set up was slaughtering more fools trying to break through the defenders. Unfortunately, with every CKM reload they came closer and closer, but were always pushed back. Ammunition for the Altarians or men for the Parpardian?
General Cius looked with satisfaction from afar at what was happening on the second line of fortifications. The unexpected strength of the strike of the land dragons caused the defense line of the 1st Division to partially collapse and allowed the attackers to gain a lot of ground. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end quickly, and in this case it was the combined strike of Lima and Altaran tanks. The air strike effectively wiped out the Parpaldian artillery, which had to constantly change position right after firing to avoid the counterfire of the enemy artillery, which was trying to get rid of them as much as possible.
The underestimation of the Parpaldi was about to end, and the ones to deliver this message were the armored men of the 1st Armored Regiment of the 1st Division. The fire of the first T-34s hit the land dragons without mercy, and after a few minutes it became clear that in a clash of dragon vs. tank, the latter was the winner. On the flanks, tankers in their 9TPA and 4TPA struck, slaughtering the enemy infantry with their machine guns and 9TPA guns.
Immediately after the light tanks from the flanks, the cavalry on their horses attacked and effectively killed those teams of enemy infantry that the tanks did not destroy. The surprise caused by the appearance of tanks was total and the effect was easily expected, namely the total panic and retreat to the back of Parpaldia soldiers. No effect were the officers' appeals to calm down, when the majority of them fled together with their soldiers, and the rest that did not panic were killed either by their own crazed soldiers, or by enemy fire, which aimed at the largest possible panic among the enemy.
These regiments which did NOT panic were crushed under steel tracks of tanks in a desperate attempt to stop them. The very appearance of tanks made that what was a promising offensive, although at the cost of huge losses, ended in a defeat. In just 15 minutes tanks crushed the enemy and pushed him to the sea. Those who escaped to the beach were simply stunned to see sinking ships and enemy steel ships firing at the beach camp.
The soldiers, against the will of their general, seeing all this, began to surrender to the enemy. It took a few moments before the combined Polish-Albanian forces ceased fire and accepted the surrender of their enemy.
Only half of the surviving forces from the previous day were taken prisoner. The losses suffered by the attackers made it clear to all survivors that even if the strike had succeeded, an attack on the next line of defense would simply have killed all those who remained. Soldiers of the Empire did not resist when Altarans started to organise them into prisoner-of-war columns which were to be sent to previously prepared prison camps.
The biggest problem was with General Cius himself, who in the last moments of the battle lost contact with reality and started to give orders to execute soldiers who dared to surrender. Needless to say, those who were supposed to take him prisoner simply slapped him in the face, stunning him to make the process of taking him prisoner more efficient.
After two days of fighting, only 15,000 of what turned out to be a 100,000-strong army attacking the country remained. The rest of them died, and many of those who remained, if not seriously injured, are already mental wrecks. On the defenders' side, only one and a half thousand of the total number of 13 thousand soldiers of the Division were killed in both battles. The most casualties were caused by the attack of the land dragons, which were considered very dangerous and became a priority for all troops.
The battle itself was a proof not to underestimate Parpaldia, which is a fast learner and is capable of producing really impressive forces, able to break through, under a good commander, the defenses of a much more advanced enemy. The lesson learned from the battle for the Empty Coast as this land was called proved to be very valuable in the upcoming counterattack.
Hello everyone who made it to this chapter, first of all I would like to thank those who join our circle of companions watching and enjoying this story, indeed the pace at which you appear is so far so fast for me and I'm very glad that you want to see the continuation of this story. As you can see I am not going to make our opponents into complete idiots who can be defeated without loss of life. That's not the country, that's not the story.
Speaking of the future, yes I'm going to change future opponents to much stronger ones, those who have read the original know what I'm talking about. I will tell you only one secret, I am going to change the technological path of one country and strengthen another. What the author did is an example of pure stupidity, seriously author? I understand liking one's country, but to put everything with one's country like that. The next chapter will be rather descriptive and will deal with the Altaras armed forces. And then the story continues.
And now a brief explanation
AKM-230- Contrary to the name, this was not developed by Kalashnikov or his factories simply that was the name adopted. The cannon itself is the first automatic naval cannon in the USSR. The prototype was called KŁ-302. It is a standard gun of small ships of the Eastern Bloc. The range given in the story is not fictitious, it is its practical range, the maximum range is 6.5 kilometers for surface targets and 4 kilometers for air targets.
Lim-6bis- It is an abbreviation from the first letters of the Licencyjny Myśliwiec/Licensed Fighter. It is a license version of MiG-17 produced in Poland. This particular version is modified to be an assault fighter. The plane itself was the final version of the Licensed Mig-17 produced in Poland. All Lims were in fact partially modified Migs. This version proved to be the most popular, and since 1971 all other Limas were converted to this version. It was the most numerous attack aircraft in Polish Air Force. Used until 80's, the last Lima was withdrawn in 1992. They were given to East Germany and there to countries in Africa.
Tetetka- A belated explanation from an earlier chapter, this is the common name for the TT gun used after the war by the polish army. This is simply due to reading the name so that it is easier to pronounce in a sentence. The letter E in this word reads like the word west.
For those who made it to the end, I wish you greetings as you read this and may the red power of the People's Republic of Poland be with you.
