-oOo-

The next morning arrived and the two sets of parents arrive for early visiting. All four stopped in shock when they found Callie and Arizona cuddled up in bed together, clinging to each other for dear life. Just like they had found them in at every single sleep over the girls had had since the very first one they had begged and harassed their parents for a full week for. What surprised them wasn't the position they were in, it was the position they were in so soon, how easily Callie was letting Arizona touch her and surround her and be close to her.

They quietly move the seats to the far side of the room next to what was meant to be Arizona's bed to allow the girls to sleep as much as they need without disturbing them. They chatted quietly amongst themselves about the happenings of the last few years and that despite the situation they are looking forward to the two girls being back in their homes and sneaking though the garden gate to each other like they used to. Their attention is drawn to the two girls when they hear a loud yelp followed by a soul crushing whimper.

Arizona jumped to attention and began stroking Callie's hair with her free hand and rousing her from her sleep softly. Whilst her other hand is being crushed inside a caramel hand in a death grip. The second Callie opens her eye and sees Arizona's baby blues she crumbles and sobs.

"Hey... come on now, its ok Cal! he can't hurt you anymore" Arizona soothes as she strokes Callie's long dark tresses.

"But he can, he's not even here now and he's still hurting me" The Latina sobs, choking out her words.

"Be patient and give yourself time to heal, you need to be kind to yourself right now, your body and your mind is going through a lot and you need to just be kind and patient ok?"

"He's everywhere though. He's in my thoughts, and in my dreams, he's even in my damn uterus for gods sake" neither notice the soft gaps that erupt from the opposite side of the room at the information the two sets of parents had just learned.

"Cal, we only got rid of him less than twenty four hours ago! It's going to take some time, and we will get someone to help with the thoughts and the dreams ok? And he's just the sperm donor remember, he is of no importance to this baby's life, he's nothing to him or her and he never will be, ok? He will never have any place in this baby's life, or rights, to you or him or her. You don't need to be scared of him coming after you if you decide to keep the baby" Callie nods through her sobs "Come on sweetie you need to do your breathing exercises again, you're getting too excited and it's going to bring Bailey in here who will kick my ass for being in your bed and letting you get so excited… come on, please breathe"

"sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry" Callie whimpered.

"Hey it's ok! You have nothing to apologize for so let's just focus on your breathing because I can hear how fast your hearts beating from that stupid machine over there so let's just calm down and breathe ok?" Arizona soothed.

"Sorry" Callie's voice came out in a pathetic whisper.

"Ok, new pinky promise, no more apologizing! You don't have to apologize for anything ok, not to me, not ever" Arizona joked softly.

"I'm sorry I promise I will try better" Callie offered nervously.

"You just did it again" Arizona smirked playfully.

"What?" the brunette asked with a voice laced with confusion.

"Apologized" Arizona offered lightly, her ears paying attention to the heart monitor which was still beeping a little too fast for her liking.

"Shit I'm sorry" Callie said with her heart in her mouth.

"Will you quit apologizing" The blonde laughed sweetly and it was music to Callie's ears.

"How's your throat feeling? that was one really sexy husky laugh!" Callie muttered bravely.

"I try Ms. Torres… gotta make the best of a bad situation, right? I may as well use my new husky voice for the powers of good" Arizona teased softly, her ears noting that the beeping was practically back to normal.

"Oh god, you are so going to be hitting on every hot doctor and nurse that walks through that door, aren't you" The Latina laughed lightly.

"Absolutely not, I'm going to be working here within three months, I don't want to get the slut shame before I even officially start and have to walk around in a constant state of shame, the walk of shame is never a good thing Calliope" The soon to be doctor grinned.

"Wait, you're moving home for good?" Barbara practically shrieked in excitement.

Callie and Arizona spun around in shock, Callie trembling and whimpering in fear as she cowered into Arizona's side.

"Jesus Mom… a little consideration for the situation we're in! It's ok Cal, it's just our parents having a family meeting on the other side of the room and eavesdropping on our private conversations… nothing you haven't seen before… oh at least three times a week since we were seven" Arizona tried to sooth the brunette, the beeping of the heart monitor increasing with Callie's heart rate.

"Callie I'm so sorry dear, I didn't mean to startle you, I was just shocked at Arizona's news. Are you ok love?" Barbara asked soothingly from across the room, not daring to cross the space and alarm the frightened woman any further.

"Yeah sorry Barbara, you just shocked me. I will be ok" Callie offered a fake laugh to down play how much she was panicking. Her chest was feeling tight and it was a little difficult to breathe.

"Shocked you… more like scared the living crap out of you, look how fast your hearts beating! Mom she had major open surgery just four days ago, she's meant to be keeping calm not getting her heart rate this high" Arizona scolded her mother angrily.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to Arizona, I didn't deliberately scare the two of you" Barbara offered sadly, feeling terrible for the fear she could so clearly see on the brunettes face.

"It doesn't matter, do better!" The soon to be doctor almost snarled protectively.

"Arizona, can you please calm down" Callie begged, her hand reaching to the chest in an effort to sooth the tightness and pain she was feeling.

"I am calm, my Mom is just an idiot right now" Arizona snapped angrily as she glared between her mother and the heart monitor.

"Arizona please!" Callie broke down and sobbed, shying away from the blonde, her presence and her touch.

"Shit, I'm sorry. You know I was shouting at my Mom for being a dumb ass not you sweetie. It's ok! Look I'm gonna get off the bed and sit in the chair right here ok, but I'm not going to let go of your hand. I'm just gonna put some space between us so you can calm down because I'm really worried about how fast your hearts pounding right now, but I need you to breath for me." Arizona does as she said and moves to the chair, throwing a pointed glare at her mother who was looking very guilty and ashamed of herself.

"I'm so sorry Barb" Callie whispered on a sob.

"Hey now, none of that! No apologizing remember, it was my fault for not thinking about what I was doing before I spoke" Barbara cooed across the room sadly.

"No you shouldn't need to be walking on eggshell's, you should be allowed to be excited for Arizona coming home without me ruining it for you all" Callie sobbed.

"You're not ruining anything Calliope, come on stop talking for a minute and just focus on your breathing ok? Your hearts still too fast and any second Bailey is going to come busting through that door and ready to kick my lily white ass for upsetting her patient, and honestly, I've heard a lot of rumours about her the last few days… did you know they call her the Nazi? Cause she is a ruthless attending who doesn't take shit from anyone… she's going to eat me alive!" Arizona offered a yikes face which caused Callie to scoff despite the pain she was in.

"Please battleship! You could take anyone on, even the big bad Nazi" Arizona couldn't contain her smile at their childhood nickname that Tim would call the blonde and Callie adopted occasionally when she knew the blonde needed her support. It was almost like a secret code word to let the blonde know that Callie had her back.

"Did someone say my name? And Ms Robbins would you care to explain the evident distress in my patient?" Bailey enters the room followed by the four interns she had carefully selected days ago to be on this case for its duration, however long that was. It was imperative for Callie to be surrounded by trustworthy people right now, and to be surrounded by stability and friendliness and people who wouldn't be looking at her with judging eyes or asking inappropriate questions.

"I was just telling Callie about my conversation with the chief and we were just discussing how awesome it would be if I managed to be one of your interns!" Arizona lied hopefully, offering a conspiritual wink to Callie who was breathing exaggeratedly to try and calm her heart down. And now had to fight the smirk that was teasing her lips at Arizona's antics.

"I will make sure to give the chief that request in person. Now what's going on with her heart rate." Bailey glared at Arizona showing that she wasn't buying her shit.

"that was my fault Dr. Bailey, she didn't realize we were all here and I got a little excited and scared the be-jesuses out of them both" Barbara offered apologetically feeling terrible for hurting the woman that had been through so much pain in the three years that she had been missing.

"Ok, keep your breathing up. Can you tell me where it hurts?" Dr. Bailey asked as she picked up the chart from the foot of the bed and glanced over it before turning her attention back to the bedridden woman.

Callie points to her chest "it feels like I'm having a heart attack... my chest hurts so much… its like an elephants standing on me"

"oh come on now that's just ridiculous, if an elephant was stood on you I doubt you'd be talking… you'd be crushed and screaming in pain, not having a conversation " Arizona giggled and winked playfully at the Latina who couldn't resist rolling her eyes and shaking her head at the proud smirk on the blondes face.

"I'm sorry, do the letters M and D follow your name yet, Ms Robbins? Bailey asked over pronunciating the Ms as a statement that it isn't a Dr that precedes the blonde woman's surname.

Arizona lost her smirk quickly at the death glare she received from the woman who would soon be her boss "Well not yet... I was just saying that it was..."

"Well don't just say. Why don't we let the doctors doctor and you just sit there and try not to give me anymore of a headache than you already have this week. Now Callie, tell me, are you experiencing any nausea? " Bailey takes Callie's hand with the catheter in and holds it, noticing instantly the shaking in it and how clammy it is even on the back of her hand. Callie nods at her "Any Dizziness or numbness anywhere?"

"I feel a little dizzy but no numbness, I don't think" the brunette answered with a furrow to her brows.

"Have you felt like this before in the past?" the shorter woman asks almost knowingly.

Callie nods nervously and the embarrassment is clear on her face.

"ok, what's happening right now is a good old classic panic attack. Feeling of a heart attack, pressure on your chest, nausea, shaking or trembling, sweating, dizziness and the pounding of your heart, they are all clear symptoms and its not surprising considering everything. Now we can do several things, we can give you some medication that will help, however the medication will make you feel a little woozy, which considering your history you may feel uncomfortable at the sensation of not being in control of your body or your mind, at least for the next few weeks" Bailey soothed as she spoke to the Latina.

Callie shook her head in fear " I really, really don't want that! please don't give me anything that will make me not a hundred percent lucid, please!" she begged.

"I didn't think you would want to go down that route, not yet at least, don't worry! I'll note it on your chart that unless its in life saving measures to not medicate you with anything that will make you feel that way. Ok... so in order to get this under control immediately, lets just focus on your breathing. I'm going to page for a psych consult a little earlier than I had originally planned because the psychiatrist, Dr. Warner, will be able to give you some tools to combat these sensations, as well as any emotional trauma you may be experiencing. I know its hard to talk about it, and if I were you I truly wouldn't want to either, but the more you say and explain to her the better able she is to help you so that your not having these attacks regularly. So lets just keep breathing. Now I want you to think about what it was that set this off on this specific occasion… what thought was it that you were having? and I want you to look around the room and focus on this annoying blonde besides your bed who has sat vigil for days because she wanted to keep you safe even though she was being forcibly kept away from seeing you, she's not going to hurt you Callie. And your mom, despite being told she wasn't allowed to see you nor have any access to any of your information she called us every three hours on the dot to try and get an update despite every time being told 'sorry' every single time. she's not going to hurt you Callie. And your Dad, he ordered the chief to give him a list of everyone who has had any contact with you during your stay so far in order for him to get witness statements from them in case they saw or heard anything, even the orderlies are scared of coming near you in case they don't give you the best care possible and have to meet his wrath, he's not going to hurt you, your his little girl, his baby. And the lady who looks like a much wiser Arizona – not that it would take much mind you, the guilt that's written all over her face for upsetting you tells me that she's not going to hurt you and the gentleman with the dimples besides her, I'm gonna guess Arizona's father… well I'm going to be honest because its very important especially right now to not lie to you about anything, so... he looks like he may hurt me if I don't give you the very best treatment possible, but I doubt very much he will hurt you considering the concern and worry written in his eyes you cant fake the concern in the soul, he's not going to hurt you. And me? I'm the Nazi, I only hurt interns, and these interns… they couldn't hurt a fly even if I told them too, they don't know their damn asses from their head… stupid interns!"

Callie giggled softly.

"Ok that heart rates coming down really nicely. I'll get Dr. Warner up here to talk with you but if you feel another attack coming on before then you need to really focus on your breathing, think about what caused the attack and focus on the things around you that you can trust and believe in and will force your brain to reconsider the possibility of danger. Challenge the negative thoughts with things that you do know for sure. The people in this room will not hurt you, they love you and they just want to protect you." Bailey kept her eyes on the brunette until she nodded her understanding. "Very good. Now I popped my head in earlier and it looked like you managed to get a little bit of rest at least" the short doctor threw a pointed glare at Arizona for being caught snuggled in bed with Callie.

" Yeah I finally managed to sleep… it took Arizona lying with me though, please don't be mad at her it was my fault, you should be mad at me not her" Callie offered in a meek voice. The thought of being in trouble terrified her. She was so conditioned that with blame came great pain that the mere thought of being in trouble made her hands begin to tremble.

"I'm not mad at anyone Callie, certainly not you and if your comfortable and need Arizona's presence to help you feel safe enough to sleep that is completely ok. However sharing a hospital bed is against hospital policy so how about I get her bed moved over closer to yours so you can lie next to each other? Do you think you would be able to sleep like that?" Bailey asked softly, noticing the trembling hands and knowing she needed to tread carefully.

" I guess, I'm sorry I didn't mean to break the rules" Callie said obviously sad and upset and worried.

"Cal, don't worry about it. No one is mad, Dr. Bailey is just making a suggestion on how to work around it so no one is getting in trouble. And if anyone will get in trouble its me, because you know I am the trouble maker" the last sentence was whispered and Arizona glanced to her parents to check that they didn't overhear her admission. That would be something they would never forget!

"but it was my fault, I asked you to come on the bed with me… if I hadn't have asked you wouldn't have done it" Callie said with a tremble in her voice.

"Cal since when have I ever needed you to get into trouble huh? I find enough trouble on my own… your usually the one trying to convince me out of whatever it is that's going to get me into trouble… or bailing me out of trouble… or helping me cover the trouble up so you know who and mrs you know who don't find out about it…" The blonde ducked her head over her shoulder towards her parents.

"That's true I really cant argue with that" Callie offered with a hint of a smile playing on plump lips.

"ok so I'm going to get an orderly in here to shuffle the room around a little bit and set it up so your more comfortable. Now where do we stand on bathing, do you think you can manage an assisted shower or would you prefer a bed bath?" Bailey asked cautiously.

"oh that's ok, I'm good thankyou" Callie said dismissively.

"Calliope you need to get cleaned up… I can help in the shower if you need it I've had all the training from the care home I volunteered at last summer" the soon to be doctor offered with a nervous smile.

"that could work, how does that sound for you?" Bailey asked glancing between the two women who each looked as nervous as the other.

"no its really good, I'm fine." Callie said with determination as she glanced down and picked at some imaginary lint on the standard hospital blanket covering her body.

Arizona glanced at both sets of parents and then to the interns before studying the Latina with intense eyes "do you think perhaps Dr. Bailey, Callie and I could have just a few moments alone please" she sent pleading eyes to both sets of parents, telling them to just trust her and go with it.

With a round of nods everyone leaves the room and gathers in the hall behind the closed door.

" what's really going on Cal, is this about the bruising and scars?" Arizona asked carefully.

"You know about the scars?" Callie asked with her heart in her mouth.

"I do, I had access to your medical records remember, I've seen your scars already so you really don't need to worry or be shy here. But if you really don't want me to see them in person then Bailey can organise for someone else to help you. Its whatever makes you comfortable ok? Don't be afraid to be honest with us about what you need from us." The blonde said with a steady voice knowing it was important for Callie to feel in control right now.

"Id rather just do it myself" Callie replied honestly.

"I don't think that is much of an option at the time being sweetie... look I know its not nice but its necessary, we cant have you stinking the ward up" Arizona teased softly.

"Ok I guess if anyone is going to do it I would be more comfortable with you doing, that is if you don't mind?" Callie glanced up into cerulean eyes questioningly.

"getting a good looking woman naked and wet, that's my speciality, didn't you know?" Arizona offered a flirty wink which caused Callie to roll her eyes. "So we are agreed that I will give you a bed bath until your able to shower yourself?"

Callie nodded as she bit her lip nervously, sure Arizona had seen the scars in photos but seeing Earls map of scars across her body in person was going to be an entirely different story.

Once Arizona had informed Bailey of Callies decision and Bailey had promised to organise for the bed bath equipment to be brought through a little later the four parents returned to the room and sat a little closer this time, Callie was still very nervous about being around them and her body language screamed as to how uncomfortable she was.

"How are you feeling today mija?" Carlos asked eventually.

"Like I've been hit by a bus... several times" Callie admitted quietly.

"Oh sweetheart I'm so sorry" Lucia sobbed, leaning into her husband for some comfort.

"Your safe now mija, no one will ever hurt you again" Carlos promised as he rubbed Lucia's shoulders.

"What if... what..." Callie stuttered to a stop, her heart rate elevating causing the machine to beep a little faster.

"He can't get anywhere near you anymore Cal, he's gone for good" Arizona offered as she lay a tender hand on Callies cast.

"You don't know that, what if they don't believe me and they let him off?" Callie whispered amongst tears.

"There is no way that is going to happen, not when they take into account how they found us all yesterday, and the file I put together of your injuries, and don't forget the recording I got of him... I would say the son of a bitch is going away for a very long time" Arizona soothed.

"But not for forever, he will get out eventually and he will find me again"

"If and when he gets out we will deal with that then but for now you don't need to be worrying about that you just focus on healing" Carlos stated softly, his heart breaking at the fear so evident in chocolate orbs.

"Will you come home with us when your released?" Lucia asked nervously.

"Are you sure you want me there?" Callie asked, worried about what her parents must think about her right now, they had barely any explanation as to what had gone on, all they knew was she had disappeared from their lives and put a restraining order against them.

"Oh mija, our home is always your home, we would love to have you come back" Lucia implored.

"Well I guess if its ok"

"Where were you living Cal, do you want me to go get some of your things?" Arizona asked carefully.

"Theres nothing there, I only had what Earl allowed me to have which wasn't much" Callie stated full of embarrassment.

"That's ok mija, we will get you new things" Carlos offered and Callie could only nod through her tears.
