It was the weekend a few days later and Arizona had managed to bag the Saturday off, as she entered the back garden she peered over the fence and found Callie sitting looking into space with a look of worry etched across her face. Her heart instantly broke, she knew that look and it was almost always related to Earl. She hated that Callie's ex husband still had such a hold over the brunettes emotions and thoughts.

"Morning beautiful" Arizona offered a timid smile as she approached the chair and Callie snapped from her reverie and looked towards her, a strained smile gracing her beautiful face.

"Hey you" Callie offered. Normally Arizona would greet the latina with a soft peck either on the lips or to the cheek, but having seen the far away look on her girls face she didn't want to trigger her or upset her so instead she perched on the seat opposite Callie and took her hand gently within her own.

"How are you this morning?" Arizona asked tentitively.

"Im fine" Callie answered robotically.

"Come on sweetheart, you know I'm not buying that crap. Has something happened?" Arizona squeezed Callie's hand supportively.

"I had a dream about Earl last night, it just shook me up a bit and got me to thinking" Callie offered, unsure whether to divulge her inner thoughts and fears.

"I'm sorry sweetie. You said they were happening less often though so that's a good sign" Arizona soothed.

"I want to go back to the house" Callie blurted out, when she saw blue eyes widen in shock at what she had just heard she instantly regretted taking the plunge and opening herself up.

"Right... why do you want to go back there?" Arizona finally asked as she saw the panic start to rise within brown eyes.

"I want to make a piece with the place. Most of the dreams I have now are about being locked up in that house again so maybe if I go there and see for myself that its just a house and I wont be trapped in it, the dreams will stop" Callie tried to reason with her internal battle, she had spent all morning trying to decide if she really wanted to do this. But as the words came out of her mouth, her resolve melted. She had gone from being undecided to being certain that she wanted to do this and the sooner the better.

"Ok then, I'm in. When are we going?" Arizona smiled sweetly.

"You don't need to come, I can go on my own" Callie offered hoping that the blonde wouldn't accept her offer. Truth be told she really wanted the blonde there with her for support but didn't want to appear too clingy, especially not now that they were... what?... dating? In a relationship? Whatever their status, she needed the blonde and really wanted her company.

"If you think I'm letting you go alone to that hell hole you've got another thing coming. I absolutely will be there unless you categorically tell me that you don't want me there, and even then im still coming but will wait outside for you" Arizona said adamantly.

"I want you to come" Callie smiled softly at the determination on Arizona's pale face. It always amazed her how someone who lived in Miami could have such a pale complexion.

"Ok then, its settled. When do we leave?"

"I just need to get dressed and we can go, if you don't mind doing this on your only day off this week?" Callie asked nervously.

"Getting to spend time with the most beautiful woman in the world on my day off, oh what a hardship!" Arizona joked and was rewarded by a giggle.

They pulled up to the address in Arizona's Prius, it had a bigger trunk than Callie's golf, just in case there was anything Callie wanted to take from the fully furnished home. As they sat in the driveway both staring at the facia of the house in silence, Callie could feel her heart pounding inside her chest. She couldn't help but wonder if this had really been a good idea.

"Jesus it's like fort knox" Arizona finally commented to break the silence but all she received was a solemn nod from her companion. "Callie, we don't have to go in if you have changed your mind. We don't ever have to go in or we can come back another day. The decision is all yours, but please don't feel forced into doing this because we are here"

"I need to do this. I have so many fears about this house. I just need to get it into my head that it's just a house... it can't hurt me, not anymore... come on let's go in" Callie said as she grabbed the house key from the centre console of the car and slowly made her way out of the car. A little apprehensively Arizona followed. They walked up the path to the front door screen and Callie's hands began to tremble as she attempted to unlock the screen.

Taking the lead, Arizona wrapped her hand soothingly around Callies hand and guided the key into the hole. Once both doors were open, Arizona linked their hands together and guided the brunette into the house she had once called 'home'.

The place had been absolutely ransacked by the police in their search for evidence and no one had been back to tidy up the mess they had made. Drawers were opened and their contents spilled on the floor. Cupboard doors open and their belongings strewn everywhere. There was thick dust on top of furniture from months of neglect. The place was a mess.

Arizona was drawn by the sound of Callie sobbing, she quickly spun around, done with her investigating for now, and pulled the Latina into her arms and let her cry for all she was worth, whispering that she was ok and that she had her. Finally the sobs subsided and Callie pulled herself together and smiled sheepishly at the blonde who just smiled in return.

Silently they made their way through the house finding destruction at every turn. They made their way upstairs and found the same mess everywhere they looked.

"It's going to take a small village to get this place ready for resale" Callie finally spoke with a sigh.

"It's a good job you have a village behind you. I'm sure the family won't mind chipping in, or we could just hire somebody to come and do it. Is there anything you want keeping?"

"No... I want it all gone. We can bin anything that wont be any use and everything else can go to charity. I don't want anything from this hell hole" Callie said vehemently.

"Ok, so how do you want to do it?" Arizona asked carefully.

"I will hire someone to do it. I don't want any of my friends or family to be subjected to this place... it's going to cost a small fortune in repairs, we need to get these bars taken down and there is some patches in the walls that will need to be replastered properly but I'm sure we will find someone who can do the work" Callie offered as she glared at a particular patch she had replastered herself after having her face smashed into it by Earl.

"Your really brave coming back here you know. If it were me, I think I would have stayed away for good" Arizona mused out loud.

"Brave... or stupid" Callie breathed.

"Definitely brave" Arizona corrected her.

"Lets get out of here, I've seen what I needed to see. There is nothing here for me anymore" Callie sighed.

"Has it helped do you think?" Arizona asked as she started guiding Callie carefully through the debris towards the stairs and front door.

"Well... I came, I saw and I get to leave again... as for the nightmares I guess time will tell"

"I love you Cal, you're the bravest person I know"

"I love you too" Callie smiled softly.

The two women locked the house up and made their way back to the Prius on the drive. 'jumping' in Arizona began to reverse the vehicle as she asked Callie where to next. Callie decided she wanted to go to the beach so Arizona happily obliged. They ate lunch at a little café along the beach front before taking a stroll along the sand.

Callie felt calmer than she ever had. She had faced her fears by going back to that house and she felt lighter for having done so. As she watched Arizona smile as she watched some children play in the ocean she felt her heart tighten, not in a bad way, but this time in a good way. Maybe there was something good happening to her and maybe she did have a future with this woman, time would tell but for now she was happy and content.
