Holy crap! We're almost to chapter 10!
I apologize for the short chapters! I'm afraid they'll probably stay about that length for the rest of the story. Anyways, another shout out to Olive for literally existing and not unfriending me over my writing 3
She was curled up in a nest of sheets and blankets. The Whole mansion had gone to sleep. All except one bounty huntress.
Sleep was hard to find.
There was a combination of hurt and anger in her throat that stopped her from drifting off, still. It was nice to view the darkness of her closed eyelids.
She then heard the light noise of her door handle turning.
Why didn't she panic?
She knew who it was.
The Captain walked over to when she lay, gently sitting down on the side of the bed. She didn't bother turning to face him.
"Samus.." came his deep voice.
She flinched slightly, as if it hurt for those words to come from his mouth. Especially if they were directed at her.
"Before you say anything, I just wanted to clear something up."
I'm waiting. I've been waiting for a while.
"It wasn't me."
She had been waiting for those words, yet they didn't seem as comforting as she pictured them to sound.
"I just dealt with the culprit. It was a darkened clone of mine. Blood Falcon. There's been a couple running around lately, I believe this was the last one though," he sounded ashamed of it. "Sam. I know you won't forgive me for any of this for a while, I just wanted you to know that I would never..."
He stopped. She looked up at him, meeting his dark, wondrous eyes, filled with wonder yet sadness.
So he knew that I thought he was seeing someone else?
"I'm sorry, Sam."
She then sat up, wrapping her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder. He returned the favor, tightly wrapping his muscular arms around her waist,
"Sorry.." he murmured again.
"Stop saying sorry, dammit."
She felt gentle warm tears slide down her cheeks.
"Falcon?"
"Yes?"
"I think it's time that I tell you about what happened when I was younger."
He loosened his grip around her a bit, but then, Leaned his head against her's.
"Go on."
Samus told him about how her mother died, how her family died, how she had lost not only her beloved home, but also the people who had lived there before.
It hurt revisiting the old memories, but Falcon was there to comfort her.
After a shared moment of silence, he offered to tell her about his own past, and I also help her with what she had been going through.
She felt safe. A thick sheet of relief had rolled off her shoulders, leaving her a vulnerable mess. But she was okay with it. For now.
As the night went on, they had slowly migrated from a sitting position, to lying next to each other.
Sleep came easily for the two bounty hunters after their discussion.
They had fallen asleep in each other's arms.
