Chapter 2
The next morning, Kion open his eyes to see Kiara is not by him. He is not that concerned. Truth be told, he and Kiara's siblinghood have been tainted the moment she punched him. He no longer looks up to her and is instead prefers to stay by himself without anyone or anything telling him that he should acknowledge his sister.
Surprisingly, she didn't make that big of a deal out of it, given her headstrong and curious attitude which caused her to get into trouble months ago. At that time, Kiara played with Kion everyday and then... one day everything just changed. Kiara didn't want to play with him anymore; she just changed around him completely, making promises and then taking them back with other promises.
This affects Kion deeply to the point where he was desperate to play with her, to be asked for just a moment of playtime, yet the offer never came, much to the disappointment of the young lion cub.
Today is the dawning of a new day; a day where he will change completely and become a different lion cub. Kiara doesn't love him anymore and so, while he will love her, he will only become his own type of cub. No one picks on him much due to him being weird besides Jeuri and her pathetic group of mistresses, yet Kion just ignored them most of the time, especially given their mothers are friends which causes them to back off.
So, instead of calling for her as he once would have despite everything that happened, he begins searching Pride Rock; not because he wants to hang out - but wants to see what's she planning. She is still his sister after all, and if she doesn't care for him, at the very least he should watch her from the background.
It isn't long before Kion finds himself facing the back of his father and sister. Deciding to near them, Kion hears in the conversation they both are discussing. His father is perched on the edge of Pride Rock, telling Kiara.
"Everything the light touches is our Kingdom. One day when you're Queen, the sun will set on my time and rise with you."
Kiara gasps in shock and amazement, "Wow," she have that grin on her lips, the grin that Kion use to love and adore, yet now views as just a smile. "All this would be mine?"
"Yes, everything the light touches, but do remember what I taught you, Kiara: being a Queen doesn't mean getting your way all the time," father replies.
"I know, daddy. Tyrannical rule is not the path I wishes to follow. No one among the kingdom will not be my servants but my assistent." Kiara replies.
Kion tips his head to the side, knowing that some siblings from the past who have been brothers or sisters to the king was treated like servants. It really shows that the great kings were not so great despite them bringing peace to the Pride Lands.
'What about me? Will she cast me aside in the hope to rise to power? Will she treat me like a slave?'
Kion's imagination spirals.
'Kion!' An adult lioness, Kiara, marches through his spot in Pride Rock before stepping on his paw, making him yelp slightly.
"Yes, Kiara?" He asks fearfully, despite the pain he feels.
"You have not proven yourself loyal to me. You are just a shame to the family. A weakling that will be under me." Kiara replies sharply. "It is time you learn, brother."
"Kiara, no. No! Please not again!" He pleads.
She begins hacking away at her younger brother mercilessly and he is helpless to defend her.
Kion snaps out of it, realizing that is just a figurative of his imagination though it is his deepest fear because the thought of his sister hurting him more than she already have is just purely terrifying.
"And what about Kion?" Kiara asks, still young, making Kion's ears more invested in the conversation.
"Uh, he will help you and be your most follower," Simba replies, a smile on his lips. "He will be your second in command, for when you're sick, weak, or going to a neighborhood Pride. You both have your roles in the Circle of Life. Things would happen which would naturally have predicaments that will force Kion become King."
Kion cannot help but feel a bit of levity at that until common sense returns, reminding himself that even if he becomes king for a day, he won't be permanent. Kion has a typical sibling relationship with Kiara. They do hold affection for each other, but are occasionally prone to sibling rivalry. Over the course of the series, their sibling rivalry seems to have diminished and they work together a lot more in which they acknowledged each other's skills. Unlike his grand-uncle, Scar, Kion doesn't hold resentment or jealousy towards his older sister, and in fact seems content that she is the heir to the throne instead of him, suggesting he is happier for it. He determines to be by her side and supports her to ensure she follows the right path.
He will not intervene or allow such thoughts to overwhelm him, for he is not Scar. He is not that sadistic animalistic individual who goes as far to kill his own brother. Despite their differences, the thought of killing Kiara is just sickenibg.
Kiara look up, her chin held high, her amber eyes gleaming. A smile cross her muzzle and she found herself leaping for joy inside, something she may have once gagged at but learns to accept this as his responsibility.
The golden young lioness remember back when she didn't want to be Queen, she thought it was too much responsibility. But now she no longer played around and allowed her true bloodline sticked in. There was no changing it. Father ends her lesson and walk off to did his rounds and she turn to see Kion staring at her.
Seeing his questionable eye, she knew what he would ask - or what he wouldn't ask... so she just waited. But it never came. Kion just left her and she was dazed; it isn't like him. Usually, he's been flinging her questions.
She wonders how much did her punching him change him. Hopefully, not much but it is showing side-effect.
"Kion," Kiara says, more softer then she have use since the day they stop playing with each other. "Uh, I'm going to go out hunting gazalles with my friends. Would you like to join us?"
Kion doesn't say an word. All he did was lay down and allow himself to be consumed by pain. Kiara sighs and takes that as an "No," before leaving.
Meanwhile, Simba was returning from his rounds much earlier then he thought he was going to. Yesterday, it took all day to return, but due to finishing almost all of his duties, he was cut for short today.
As he arrived, he saw Kiara, with her two best friends. "Hey girls," the King said with a soft smile. "I take you're all about to leave."
"Yes," Kiara said. "But, daddy, you got to talk to Kion, he ain't talkin' to anyone and I'm fearing for him." Kiara wasn't going to reveal what she had done, for it would've only raise trouble.
"Don't worried, princess," Simba said patting her head. "Just go, I will talk with him."
Then, the three cubs walks off - leaving behind Simba who slowly turns and goes into the den. Something is seriously wrong with his son and he needs to discover what.
Simba approaches over to Kion, who is laying down - not looking at him, his eyes impassive.
Simba wonders what is he daydreaming about, but nonetheless, approches. "Hi, Kion," Simba states. Kion refuses to replies, still staring out to the sky. "Your sister told me some disturbing info. You aren't talking and she's worried."
Not really wanting to have this conversation now, Kion turns and was about to leave, but was stopped by Simba, who steps onto his tail, halting him. He sighs and let's out a mini growl.
"I'm fine, father," Kion snaps irritability, knowing his father do have the tendency to be overprotective which grades on his nerves as much as it do to his sister and even his mother at times.
"Kion, your sister is concern about you. You need to talk to me."
He refuses to talk, and Simba is getting more annoyed and worried for the second. He always wonders about his strange son, who is very careful, and embarrassing to be around by the whispers of the other cubs, and humiliates everywhere he goes, and whenever he tries to play with his sister and her friends, he just cannot fit in. He don't had any friends in the Pride and the king wonders if he should have Kiara take Kion out more. Maybe, he just want her attention.
Kion walks back into Pride Rock, though his eyes lingers on the edge, feeling a sudden temptation to just...
No. He cannot.
Why would he?
He is Prince of the Pride Lands. He cannot!
