Pokémon Crimson Gold

Chapter 16: The Pokémon in the egg

Ethan and Bayleef had ventured into Ilex Forest in search of Goldenrod after a quick battle with the mysterious Silver.

Ethan, unlike his time in Union cave, actually had a signal for his Pokégear, making navigation through the vast forest much easier, it would take less days to get to Goldenrod thankfully.

"I think the egg is going to hatch soon Bayleef, I felt it shaking not too long ago." Ethan told his starter, Bayleef smiled and nodded her head.

It was then when the two heard a man's scream coming from not too far, it sounded like maybe wild Pokémon may be attacking.

"Let's check it out, Bayleef!" Ethan said as he followed the noise.

Ethan ran into a few bushes to see a man, he had deep black hair, and looked like he most definitely was not a trainer. Next to him were a few bags.

"Were you the one screaming?" Ethan asked.

"Oh my God! Oh my God! I am so dead!" The man said, he was on all fours on the ground looked like he may have been about to cry.

"Excuse me! Sir!" Ethan spoke up to get his attention.

The man looked up to see Ethan, he immediately began panicking.

"O-oh, don't mind me, I promise I'm not looking for a Pokémon battle, I don't have any Pokémon. Not after that damn Farfetch'd ran off from me." The man said, sounding pissed off.

"Don't worry, I'm not the kind of trainer to challenge every random person I see, plus you don't look like a Pokémon Trainer." Ethan told him, calming the man down.

"Let me tell you something kid. Don't be an idiot like me, I'm a delivery man, I was off to deliver some items from Ecutreak city to Azalea. And I'm given just a Farfetch'd to defend myself right." The man said.

"R-right." Ethan said.

"Well this Caterpie tries to attack me! And to defend myself I throw out Farfetch'd, but the minute I tell it to attack it turns around, attacks me! Then runs off." The man said.

"That's rough, but it can be like that sometimes," Ethan said.

"Well, now that you get I'm an idiot, learn from me, don't be an idiot like me!" He said, getting up and grabbing the bags he was meant to deliver. "I'm going to go and tell my boss I lost his Pokémon, and I'll probably be crucified for it." He said as he walked off.

"What if I tried to find your Farfetch'd?" Ethan suggested.

"You could try I guess, better than me being hanged by my boss, but what'll I do if another wild Pokémon tries to attack me." He asked.

"You can use my Pokémon!" Ethan said, releasing Flaaffy from its Pokéball.

"Flaaffy!" Flaaffy cried.

"Now Flaaffy, stand and guard this kind fellow right here, if trouble shows up you know what to do." Ethan told Flaaffy.

"You'd really do that?" The man asked.

"Sure, it's no big deal." Ethan said, ready to head off.

"No, I mean lend me your Pokémon." The man said. "I could be trying to rob you, you never know."

"If you're trying to rob me you're welcome to try, but I wouldn't. Flaaffy would you give you a early grave if you did anything. No need for your boss to hang you."

"Right." The man gulped.

"Now I'm off, any idea where they went?" Ethan asked.

"To your right, uh thanks again kid, it's Seymour by the way." He said, shaking Ethan's hand.

"Ethan, now stay careful." Ethan said as he took his leave.

Ethan ran off along with Bayleef to the right to find this Farfetch'd. He had no clue where if it was even still in the forest, but it had to be, right?

Not to long later, Ethan heard the quack of a Farfetch'd.

"Alright, we did it Bayleef." Ethan said quietly, he was going to try and tame it.

Farfetch'd was shivering near a lake, it was scared out of its mind it seemed, Ethan slowly walked up to it, it took notice of him.

"Hey there little guy, I'm not going to hurt you." Ethan said, putting his hands up, signifying it wasn't going to try anything.

"Farfetch'd!" It squealed at Ethan.

"What's scaring you, I just want to help you." Ethan said, putting his hands.

Bayleef turned around and proceeded to bark like crazy. Ethan turned to face her.

"What's the matter Bayleef, we're not here to battle it-" Ethan didn't manage to battle it, as he turned to see a wild Pinsir. It looked angry as if it wanted blood.

"Oh crap! Now I get it. Farfetch'd was running away!" Ethan said, raising his Pokédex.

"Pinsir, the Stag Battle Pokémon. With its pincer horns, it digs burrows to sleep in at night. In the morning, damp soil clings to its body."

"Don't worry Farfetch'd, Bayleef will protect you!" Ethan said trying to calm down the Farfetch'd.

"Bayleef! Razor Leaf now!" Ethan yelled. Bayleef listened and tossed its leaf, sending multiple Razor Leaves at the Pinsir. The leaves however had little effect on Pinsir.

"Damn!" Ethan cursed. "Alright, try and tackle."

Bayleef rushed into the Pinsir knocking it back, it seemed to hurt, but not as much as a special attack would.

Pinsir rushed at Bayleef with X Scissor, Bayleef managed to dodge, but it still got a tiny cut from the slash Pinsir threw, but thankfully not enough to do much damage.

It was then when Ethan felt in his bag the egg shaking more and more. It had to have been on the verge of hatching.

Oh come on, this is not the right time for you to be hatching, Ethan thought, he was extremely stressed out.

The wild Pinsir used Swords Dance, powering up its attack greatly, further adding to Ethan's stress levels.

The Farfetch'd began to cry. Ethan turned to it; he dropped his backpack and went up and hugged the Farfetch'd. "It's okay little guy, everything's alright." He said, "Bayleef, I'll try and calm the Farfetch'd down, so you'll have to fight on your own."

"Bay." Bayleef said nodding.

It was then when Pinsir came using Double Hit, smacking Bayleef with two super strong jabs. There was no time to dodge.

Pinsir then came forth with another X Scissor, it was too fast, Bayleef could only use Light Screen to block it, but Pinsir's attack was enough to start cracking the screen.

Farfetch'd couldn't stop shaking at this, Ethan needed to somehow calm it down, but he couldn't he was too worried about what would happen if Bayleef couldn't stop the Farfetch'd.

Pinsir fired more rapid X Scissors at Bayleef's already cracking barrier. Bayleef began to step back as it was being overpowered.

Damn it, damn it, damn it. Maybe if Bayleef hadn't sacked Poison Powder for Light Screen we could have a chance here. Ethan worried. No what am I saying, Bayleef can do this, I know she can.

Pinsir finally landed a Double Hit on Bayleef's barrier, shattering it.

"Bay!?" Bayleef said, not sure what to do in this case.

Pinsir at a speed Bayleef couldn't keep up with used Bug Bite, quickly biting Bayleef in places including her neck at a rapid speed. The attack was super effective. Bayleef fell to her knees unconscious after groaning in pain.

"No Bayleef!" Ethan panicked as he returned her to her Pokéball so the feral Pinsir couldn't further injure her or worse. "Y-you did good, thank you Bayleef."

Pinsir turned to Ethan and Farfetch'd with a malicious grin on its face. It used Sword's Dance to further increase its attack.

"Oh come on why would you need to that, I promise I'm friendly." Ethan said, he couldn't help getting flashbacks to the Ursaring situation from way back.

Ethan's backpack kept shaking left and right, adding to Ethan's fear, he didn't want Pinsir noticing it, but it seemed he had.

Farfetched turned to Ethan and cried in his chest, causing Ethan to scare even more.

"What do you even get from attacking me, you already beat my Pokémon, isn't that enough." Ethan pleaded, only causing the Pinsir to laugh. It prepared to use another X Scissor on Ethan and Farfetch'd but it noticed a white light coming from Ethan's backpack.

It was then when the bookbag began to be raised in the air. It was finally hatching, but in the worst case possible. The white light overtook the bad, until it stopped and the bag fell back down.

Please please please. Whatever Pokémon you are, stay in there. Ethan begged. I promised Professor Elm he would get to see you.

Pinsir, confused, walked up to the bag slowly and softly patting it down, to check if anything was possibly there. It was then when a Pokémon jumped from the bag, startling the Pinsir.

It was round and appeared to still be stuck to the bottom half of its egg. Its head looked like a yellow star; it was facing Ethan.

"Togepi!" The hatched Pokémon, now apparently Togepi said.

Unfortunately, Ethan couldn't be excited about the reveal. Pinsir was right behind the Togepi was the wild Pinsir, who laughed at Togepi's stump appearance.

Togepi saw Ethan, and happily waddled over to him, laughing along the way. "To-Togepi!" It kept saying over and over playfully. Togepi walked up and hugged Ethan, laughing and trying to cuddle with him.

"Listen up, Togepi right? We have to run now, that Pinsir there is going to attack us and that'll be bad." Ethan said, pointing to the Pinsir, who was getting ready to strike. Togepi still hugged Ethan while laughing.

"Well, we're doomed." Ethan said, facepalming.

Pinsir grinned and waved its finger at Togepi, telling it to get over there. Togepi took notice and waddled over to the fierce Pinsir.

"N-no, Togepi!" Ethan said, trying to call for it to not move, but Togepi didn't listen. Ethan tried to move and stop it, but the Farfetch'd clutched him harder.

"To, Togepi!" Togepi happily said, in range of one of the Pinsir's moves.

Pinsir prepared an X Scissor, it rushed its arms to slash into Togepi.

"Togepi!" Ethan screamed.

Togepi simply laughed, it wagged its finger, and launched a huge Fire Blast attack at the Pinsir, completely engulfing it in flame. Pinsir was rolling around the floor in pain. Togepi somehow managed to use the attack Fire Blast.

"Wha-wha-wha, what just happened. Since when can, how can a baby know an attack like that?!" Ethan said. "Not that I'm complaining!" Ethan said, completely relieved.

Pinsir got back, despite being hit by a Super Effective attack, it was clearly on its last legs, but wasn't going to give up.

"Togepi, finished it off with another Fire Blast!" Ethan yelled.

Togepi took a glance at Ethan, confused. It took another look at the Pinsir and wagged its finger once again. It happily jumped up and down, attempting to use a Splash attack, but there was no water...

"W-why won't it use Fire Blast!?" Ethan said, starting to freak out again.

Right before the Pinsir could slash Togepi with another attack, Farfetch'd leapt from Ethan's arms. "Farfetch'd what're you doing?" Ethan asked.

Farfetch'd began to flap its wings and launched an Air Cutter at the heavily damaged Pinsir, despite Farfetch'd being much weaker, the super effective damage was enough to knock out the Pinsir.

"Alright, now to make sure it can't move!" Ethan said, throwing a Pokéball. The pokéball hit the Pinsir and instantly caught it.

Ethan rushed towards his new Togepi and caught it in his arms, giving it a big hug, "We did it Togepi! I love you so much! Thank you!" Ethan yelled, with tears of joy.

"Togepi!" Togepi responded happily.

"You two Farfetch'd, you did awesome. Now what do you say we get you back to Seymour?" Ethan asked.

"Far, Farfetch'd!" Farfetch'd agreed.

Ethan returned to Seymour and Flaaffy with Farfetch'd by his side, and his new Togepi in his arms. He didn't go and pick up Pinsir's Pokéball however, as he only caught it just in case it tried to get up and attack again. He wanted no part with such a violent and cruel Pokémon.

"Wow kid! You actually managed to find my Farfetch'd!" Seymour said relieved, he returned Farfetch'd to its Pokéball.

"That's right, and in the process," Ethan said, looking down at his Togepi, who smiled back.

Flaaffy went up to Ethan and his eye was caught by Togepi. Ethan nodded signifying to him it was the Pokémon in the egg.

"Well, I don't know how to thank you Ethan, I don't have much money. Could you take my thanks as reward?" He asked.

"Sure, I'm happy enough with my Pokémon after all." Ethan said smiling.

"You know, my dream was always to be a Pokémon Trainer, maybe after this next job I should resign and start a journey!" Seymour contemplated. "No, I can't do that."

"A Pokémon journey is full of many hardships. But whatever you decide I hope you have no regrets." Ethan said.

"Thanks kid, well I'm off." Seymour said, waving Ethan goodbye,

Ethan looked once again to his new Togepi who was sleeping, and he was once again filled with pride for being a Pokémon Trainer.

So, as you guys could probably tell if you've played the games, inside the egg was Togepi, marking Ethan's third Pokémon.
