Pokémon Crimson Gold

Chapter 51: Winter's close

A day after reuniting with his released Gyarados, Ethan finally decided it was the right time to rechallenge the Mahogany Gym leader Pryce who he had lost to previously.

"Now's as good a time as any," Ethan said as he knocked on the door to the Gym. "You think we're ready Bayleef?"

"Bay!" The starter nodded.

"What I was hoping to hear." Ethan smiled.

Finally, after not to long the door opened and again it was Morgan, Pryce's niece.

"I thought it was you Ethan, so you're finally ready to have that rematch with my Uncle?" The girl asked.

"I hope so." Ethan said humbly. "And my Pokémon seem pretty confident, so that tells me we've got this."

"Bayleef!" Bayleef agreed.

"May I ask, did you get Gyarados back?" Morgan asked.

"Oh, I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise." Ethan smiled.

"Fine, leave me hanging." Morgan said. "Anyways, please come in."

Ethan went with Morgan through the long hallway before the room of the battlefield. Just like last time it was freezing cold but he was a bit more used to it this time.

After reaching the main room, Ethan stood in front of the battlefield facing off against Pryce just the same as last time.

"If it isn't Ethan. You sure came for that rematch fast, sonny!" Pryce said happily.

"I can't move on from this town until I do." Ethan replied. "So, I've got to get that Glacier badge quick!"

Pryce noticed a different aura around Ethan than what he had last time but couldn't put his finger around it.

"Say... you seem different, what makes you so confident you can beat me? Have you somehow gotten in some serious training in just a day?" Pryce queried.

"Nope. My Pokémon haven't had a wince of training since our last match." Ethan announced, surprising both Morgan and Pryce.

"E-Ethan, how do you plan on beating my Uncle if your Pokémon haven't even gotten a little bit stronger than last time!?" Morgan asked.

"I have a plan; we'll just see if it works or not." Ethan said.

"Very well, girl!" He said to his niece. "Begin our battle, now's the time to start!"

"Sure, this will be a four on four between Gym leader Pryce and Challenger Ethan. May you both bring out your first Pokémon now!" Morgan yelled.

"Bayleef, let's do this!" Ethan shouted as Bayleef jumped into the battlefield.

"Bay!" She barked as she formed a battle stance.

"Awe... Bayleef once again is your first Pokémon." Pryce said pulling out a Pokéball. "I've modified my team a bit since our last battle, I hope you don't mind."

"Not at all!" Ethan responded.

"Good answer, alright I choose you!" Pryce said throwing his Pokéball.

Released from the Pokéball was a Pokémon quite large in size. It had a blue hide with darker blue spots and a cream-colored underside. It had a long neck and four flippered, along with a slight horn on its head. And a grey shell covered in blunt knobs.

"That Pokémon..." Ethan muttered as he took out his Pokédex to find its entry.

"Lapras, the Transport Pokémon. They have gentle hearts. Because they rarely fight, many have been caught. Their number has dwindled."

"A water and ice type, that means both Bayleef and Lapras can inflict Super effective damage on each other, just like last time with Dewgong." Ethan commented.

"Correct, now let us begin." Pryce said. "Lapras, start with Ice Beam!"

Lapras opened its mouth and unleashed at Bayleef a frost beam to which she just barely managed to dodge.

"Don't let it hit you Bayleef! Respond with Magical Leaf!" Ethan yelled.

Bayleef while in midair swung her leaf, sending multiple leaves at Lapras which all made direct contact.

"La-Lapras!" It moaned in pain.

Bayleef landed on the ground, facing off with the damaged Lapras.

"Now Lapras, Hydro Pump!" Pryce yelled. Lapras opened its mouth once more this tome firing a water blast for Bayleef.

"Dodge!" Ethan yelled. Bayleef tried to move but it was then when both she and Ethan realized one of her legs were frozen, with no time to move she was hit with the Hydro Pump causing her to fall to the ground.

"Damn, that's not good!" Ethan cursed. "Even with a not very effective hit it did so much damage, what a powerful Pokémon."

"Indeed, this Lapras is quite special." Pryce said. "Now's the time for Sing Lapras!"

Lapras began to let out a loud screech causing Ethan to cover his ears, but it eventually became more relaxed and sing song like voice. Bayleef began to wobble around.

"Baaay... Baaay..." She said on the verge of sleeping.

"Don't give in Bayleef!" Ethan yelled to his Pokémon, Bayleef turned her face back to Ethan before falling to the ground, asleep.

How can we get out of this... Ethan stressed.

"Now Lapras, Sheer Cold!" Pryce ordered. Lapras listened and blasted the sleeping Bayleef with an ice type attack akin to a blizzard, it instantly woke her up and made her scream out loud.

"Bayleef!" Ethan screamed.

"Ba...ayy..." She moaned in pain before fainting.

"Bayleef is unable to battle, Challenger Ethan! Please bring out your next Pokémon!" Morgan declared.

"Bayleef!" Ethan said running to his unconscious starter, he shook her but she wouldn't get up.

"W-what move was that!?" Ethan asked to Morgan.

"Sheer Cold, a move that if lands with always be a one-hit knock out. But it only works about a third of the time, I got lucky there." Pryce laughed.

"Bayleef, you did great girl. Please, wake up." Ethan said trying to wake his starter, but she wouldn't budge.

She continued to lie unconscious and nothing Ethan could do could wake her.

"It's no use kid, Bayleef's going to be out for a while, Sheer Cold tends to that, I wasn't kidding when I said one-hit knockout.

"Awe... Bayleef, return girl!" Ethan said returning his starter to his Pokéball. "You did great, I can't thank you enough."

"Who will be your second Pokémon?" Pryce asked.

"B-before we continue, do you mind if I make a quick run to the Center?" Ethan asked. "I want Bayleef to be all healed up so when we're done here, she'll be a okay."

"Not at all, just make it quick, if another challenger comes in the meantime, then that means out battle will be postponed, make it quick Ethan." Pryce informed Ethan.

"T-thanks, I'll be back in a sec!" Ethan yelled as he quickly ran to the Pokémon Center.

"Excuse me, I need help quick!" Ethan said to the Nurse Joy at the front desk as be barged into the doors of the Center.

"What happened dear?" Joy asked the fearful Ethan.

"My Pokémon, she fainted and won't wake up, could you please take a look at her?" Ethan asked stammering over his words.

"Why of course, let me see." Nurse Joy said reaching her hand.

Ethan handed Joy Bayleef's Pokéball before quickly dashing past the door. "I'll be back soon!" He yelled.

"Strange kid..." Nurse Joy muttered before taking Bayleef to see medical attention.

Ethan finally got back to the battlefield, it had been about ten minutes since he left to drop off Bayleef, and lucky for him no one was battling Pryce so they could pick up where they left off.

"You ready to continue?" Pryce asked Ethan. His Lapras was still situated on the battlefield, awaiting Ethan's next move.

"Yeah!" Ethan said pulling out a Pokéball.

"Alright, may the battle between Challenger Ethan and Gym leader Pryce continue!" Morgan announced.

"Heracross, I choose you!" Ethan yelled releasing Heracross from his Pokéball.

"Hera Hera!" Heracross screeched landing on the battlefield, it stared down Lapras and smiled.

"First Bayleef now Heracross, if I had to guess you're using the same four Pokémon you used last time, am I right?" Pryce asked. "If that's the case, then I then you'll be using Eevee next. And as for your third Pokémon... Gyarados?"

"Worry about the present rather than the future!" Ethan yelled. "Heracross, let's begin with Close Combat!"

Heracross speeded at insane speeds appearing behind Lapras, who was shocked by Heracross's speed.

After Togetic, Heracross is my fastest Pokémon. Ethan thought. Making him the perfect matchup against Lapras.

Heracross released a frenzy of punches and kicks bashing the poor Lapras to oblivion.

"La... Lapras!" The Pokémon moaned in pain while being kicked in.

"It's Super effective, now use Brick Break!" Ethan yelled. Heracross raised one arm into the air and struck Lapras in its long neck with the chop attack.

"Lapras!" Pryce screamed.

Lapras slowly struggled to get up while Heracross stood over it.

"Because of his speed, Heracross really was the perfect Pokémon to use here, wouldn't you agree?" Ethan asked.

"Heracross!" Heracross said flexing his arms.

"Don't get too cocky, Lapras, Sing!" Pryce commanded. Lapras listened and sang its song which made Heracross take two steps back.

"He-Hera?" He said confused.

"Heracross that's Sing, shut your ears, if it works you'll be put to sleep, you've got to get past it!" Ethan warned.

Heracross upon hearing it yawned starting to stumble around.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" Ethan cursed.

Heracross fell to the ground snoring loudly, finally put to sleep.

"Lapras." Lapras said smiling after putting its foe to rest.

"Heracross please wake up!" Ethan screamed at Heracross, but to no avail. Heracross was sleeping like a baby.

"Now Lapras, Sheer Cold!" Pryce commanded.

Lapras opened its mouth preparing for the Sheer Cold, which if landed would be a one-hit knockout just like with Bayleef earlier.

"Heracross!" Ethan yelled, but something unexpected happened. As Lapras shot out the attack the sleeping Heracross did a back flip dodging the move.

"What!" Pryce freaked.

"Woah... did Heracross wake up!?" Morgan questioned. "Or was it lying about it the whole time...?"

"Heracross, a-are you awake!?" Ethan asked his Pokémon. Heracross landed right in front of Ethan facing the Lapras, he was still snoring, but still ready to battle.

"Your Heracross... could it be...?" Pryce wondered. "I recognize this, this is Sleep Talk!"

"Sleep Talk?" Ethan asked.

"A rare move in which allows a Pokémon to battle despite being in an unconscious state, such as sleep, it appears your Heracross learned it somehow midbattle." Pryce remarked.

"Alright Heracross! You learned Sleep Talk!" Ethan jumped putting one arm in the air.

"Hera...Hera..." He snored.

"Lapras, now Ice Beam!" Pryce commanded. Lapras opened its mouth and fired an Ice Beam at the sleeping Heracross.

"Heracross!" Ethan yelled. Heracross went and leaped into the air hard enough it cracked the ground below it. Heracross swiftly came behind Lapras in what appeared to be a blur.

"La-Lapras!?" Lapras said shocked.

"Hera...cross..." Heracross snored while unleashing a devastating Close Combat, each punch sounded like bombs going off as they were thrown with much force. With Heracross's final punch he caused an explosion which engulfed both it and Lapras.

"He hits even harder with Sleep Talk!?" Pryce said mesmerized.

Once the smoke cleared the Lapras fell its neck to the ground unconscious, while Heracross stood over it still asleep.

"Hera... cross..." Heracross snoozed.

"Lapras in unable to battle, Gym leader Pryce bring out your next Pokémon!" Yelled Morgan.

"Lapras return girl." Pryce said withdrawing his Pokémon. "That's an amazing Heracross, you should be proud to have it."

"Trust me, I am!" Ethan said smiling. "Alright Heracross, since you're already asleep, go and get some rest, I'll be using you later!"

Pryce pulled out his next Pokéball and so did Ethan. "This next Pokémon is quite special I should warn you, picked it up from the Sinnoh region not too long ago."

"Your Weavile?" Ethan asked.

"Hmph, not quite." Pryce chuckled.

"Eevee, I choose you!" Ethan said releasing Eevee on to the battlefield.

"Ee, Eevee!" Eevee barked as she landed on the battlefield and forming a stance.

"Eevee, I thought as much." Pryce remarked before throwing his Pokéball. "Now go and make me proud!"

Out from his Pokéball came a mammalian Pokémon covered in light-blue fur. It had long, pointed ears, dark eyes, and a small nose. A teal crest with two dangling flaps adorns its head, resembling hair almost.

Eevee upon seeing the Pokémon felt a bit intimidated, not only did it look beautiful and graceful, but it also appeared to be quite strong.

The Pokémon smiled at Eevee and formed a battle stance as well.

"W-what Pokémon is that?" Ethan questioned while taking his Pokédex to scan it.

"No data." Said the Pokédex, surprising Ethan.

"This Pokémon here is called Glaceon, does it look familiar to you?" Pryce asked.

"W-well..." Ethan stumbled over his words.

"It's an evolution of Eevee, which can only be attained in the cold. I don't have the most amount of battle experience with this one, but she's strong let me assure you." Pryce warned Ethan.

"Glace, Glaceon." Glaceon said nodding its head. Upon hearing it was one of her potential evolutions Eevee felt even more alarmed.

"Eevee, it's alright girl, we can do this!" Ethan told his Pokémon.

"Eevee!" She barked.

"We'll start. Glaceon, use Quick Attack!" Pryce commanded.

"Glaceon!" Glaceon yelled as it blasted off with quick speed.

"Eevee, dodge it quick with your own Quick Attack!" Ethan yelled.

Eevee used Quick Attack to leap in the air dodging the other Quick Attack. Glaceon turned around and eyed down Eevee.

"Now Swift!" Ethan yelled. Eevee swung her tail and sent the many stars at the Glaceon.

Glaceon gracefully dodged, leaping in between the many stars in quick speed.

"Now Ice Shard!" Pryce yelled.

Glaceon listened and fired an Ice Shard that hit Eevee precisely even though she was in midair.

"Eevee are you alright!?" Ethan asked his Pokémon.

Eevee slowly stood back up and nodded her head, albeit damaged.

"Now Glaceon, Ice Fang!" Pryce yelled.

Glaceon leaped with a mouth full of frost, aiming for Eevee.

"Eevee, reflect!" Ethan yelled. Eevee brought up her shield just the moment as Glaceon was in close contact, however it had no effect and Glaceon bit into Eevee.

"Eevee!" Ethan cried.

"Reflect only works on special moves, physical moves like Ice Fang have no effect. Pryce said. "Now Glaceon, use Double Kick!"

Eevee was partially frozen from the Ice Fang, but with a fierce Double Kick Eevee was launched back at Ethan.

"Eevee are you alright!?" Ethan said.

"Ee... Eevee..." She panted while trying to stand up,

"Finish Eevee off with Quick Attack!" Pryce yelled.

Glaceon sped once more for Eevee at full speed, scaring Ethan.

"Eevee, Dig!" Ethan said.

Eevee dug into the ground managing to dodge the Quick Attack. Glaceon stopped and turned trying to anticipate where Eevee would come out.

Eevee came out the ground beneath Glaceon, almost landing a direct hit, but Glaceon flipped in midair as Eevee came out, dodging the hit.

"Noo!" Ethan screamed.

Eevee was in close range to the much larger Glaceon, Glaceon smiled at Eevee as it was confident in victory.

"Now Glaceon, use Ice Shard!" Pyrce yelled and from close range Eevee was blasted with an Ice Shard.

"Eevee!" She cried as she was hurled to the ground.

Ethan turned his face but by the time he looked back Eevee was down unconscious.

"Eevee is unable to battle! Challenger Ethan, bring out your next Pokémon!" Morgan announced.

"Oh wow... Eevee return." Ethan said returning her to her Pokéball. "You did wonderful, now get a long rest."

"That Eevee is indeed strong, but she'll need a hundred years before she can beat my Glaceon." Pryce gloated.

"Glace!" Glaceon said proudly.

"It's not going so great. Now Ethan only has two Pokémon, how can he overcome Uncle...?" Morgan asked herself under her breath.

"Heracross! Let's continue where we left off!" Ethan yelled as he threw his Pokéball.

"Heracross Heracross!" Heracross screeched now awake. He landed on the battlefield and took a glance at the Glaceon.

"Glaceon!" Glaceon purred. Its bangs flowed in gently in the wind.

"Alright Heracross, start with Close Combat!" Ethan yelled.

Heracross ran at full speed towards the Glaceon raising his fists for the rapid fast attacks.

"Glaceon, Quick Attack to dodge!" Pryce commanded. Glaceon listened and leaped into the air right before Heracross.

"Catch it, quick!" Ethan yelled.

Heracross turned and caught the midair Glaceon by the tail and slammed it into the ground fast causing it to cry out in pain.

"Glace...on..." It grunted.

"Now Brick Break!" Ethan yelled, Heracross listened and raised its arm in the air and slammed it into Glaceon's back hard enough it shattered the ground beneath it.

"Glaceon!" Pryce screamed as his Pokémon was flung back to him. It landed to the ground.

"Can you still battle!?" He asked his Pokémon.

Glaceon struggled to get up on its knees, shaking heavily.

"Close Combat and end it!" Ethan yelled, Heracross listened and rushed towards Glaceon once more preparing for the devastating attack.

"Glaceon! Leap back and use Ice Shard!" Pryce yelled. Glaceon jumped back and hurled an Ice Shard at Heracross, smashing him in the head and slowing down his momentum.

"Heracross!" Ethan yelled.

"Now, Ice Fang!" Pryce commanded.

Glaceon leaped into the air with a mouth full of frost and bit down on Heracross's shoulder, starting to freeze it.

"Heraa!" Heracross screamed.

Glaceon bit into Heracross's shoulder even harder, freezing half of Heracross's body.

"Err, Heracross you can do this, break free!" Ethan yelled.

Heracross's eyes lit up and it raised one arm into the air, his arm that wasn't frozen. Upon seeing it Glaceon pulled back but it was too late. Heracross smashed punched Glaceon in the face with a short burst of Close Combat, the speed of the punch broke Heracross from the ice.

"Heracrosssss!" Heracross roared, he grabbed Heracross by the face and lifted it into the air.

"Now smash it into the ground!" Ethan screamed. Heracross listened and slammed Glaceon face first into the ground causing an eruption of smoke.

Once the smoke cleared it was without a doubt that Glaceon was unconscious.

"Glaceon is unable to battle, Gym leader Pryce, bring out your final Pokémon!" Morgan said starting to gain hope Ethan could win.

"Return Glaceon, good work out there!" Pryce said returning his Pokémon to its Pokéball.

"Keep it up Heracross, you're amazing!" Ethan told his Pokémon.

"Hera!" Heracross said giving a thumbs-up, he was panting quite a bit albeit.

"Next is a Pokémon you've seen before." Pryce said throwing a Pokéball. "Go, Weavile!"

"Weavile!" Weavile shrieked, it locked eyes with Heracross and gave a smirk.

"We'll begin with Fury Swipes!" Pryce commanded. Weavile ran forth preparing its sharp claws for the attack.

"Heracross! Close Combat!" Ethan once again yelled. Heracross prepared clenched his fists and ran towards the speeding Weavile.

However, it turned out Weavile was much faster. Heracross threw multiple attacks but Weavile quickly dodged all the attacks and landed a Fury Swipes.

Heracross is slower than before... damn, I didn't take into account that Heracross was tired from battling with both Lapras and Glaceon. Ethan realized.

"Heracross to me!" Ethan said withdrawing his Pokémon to his Pokéball.

"Smart choice, you realized there was no way your Heracross could have beaten my Weavile it seems?" Pryce asked.

"Yeah... when I'm winning a battle sometimes, I get carried away and don't see what's in front of me, I've got to work on that." Ethan admitted.

"Hmph, who said you were winning?" Pryce said. "I still have one Pokémon left after my Weavile, who by himself in perfect condition."

"My next Pokémon, go, Gyarados!" Ethan yelled as he threw his Pokéball.

Upon release Gyarados let out a loud roar, just landing on the battlefield it shook the ground and caused Weavile to fall and land on its bottom.

"Weavile..." It said intimidated by the shiny.

"Gyarados, you've got this boy, I know you do!" Ethan encouraged his Pokémon.

Gyarados turned to Ethan and nodded before focusing his attention back to the Weavile.

"So, you've befriended your Gyarados, only yesterday you two weren't on the best of terms." Pryce observed.

"That's right. We're two pairs in a pod now!" Ethan said.

"Hmm, good. That'll make things interesting, a Pokémon is always stronger when working together with a Trainer." Pryce told Ethan.

"Alright, now we'll begin. Gyarados, Dragon Breath!" Ethan yelled.

Gyarados listened and pulled his head back before firing a hot Dragon Breath at the Weavile.

"Weavile, dodge!" Pryce yelled.

Weavile leaped into the air and dodged the attack, it was right above Gyarados's face.

"Now Scratch!" Pryce commanded.

Weavile came down and slashed Gyarados in the face, causing Gyarados to grunt in pain.

"Gyarados, are you alright!?" Ethan asked.

"Wrahhhhh!" Gyarados screamed at Weavile, forcing Weavile to sink its claws into the ground to not be blasted back by the loud shout.

"Now Aqua Tail!" Ethan yelled. Gyarados listened and now with more power and speed threw his tail which was now engulfed in water at Weavile.

Weavile just barley dodged the hit, once more leaping in the air.

"Dragon Breath again!" Ethan yelled. Gyarados listened and blasted Weavile with an unavoidable Dragon Breath.

"Weavile!" Pryce screamed.

Weavile dropped from the sky, having taken much damage from the attack.

"W-Weavile..." Weavile moaned as it landed to the ground.

"Err... Ice Beam!" Pryce ordered.

Weavile flipped landing on its feet and landed a fierce Ice Beam at Gyarados, freezing it's lower body entirely.

"Grahhh!" It screeched trying to be free of the ice.

"It won't work." Ethan declared, getting a laugh out of Pryce.

"Oh really, why so...?" Asked Pryce after his chuckle.

"It's like you said, a Pokémon is stronger when with a Trainer." Ethan stated. "Now Gyarados, Dragon Dance!"

Gyarados lit up with an intense purple energy which engulfed him along with the ice. Weavile and Pryce had to look away as the glow was too bright and intense, upon looking back Gyarados was free.

The water type released steam from its nostrils and then once more let out a proud roar.

Weavile took two steps back terrified of the large foe before it. It was then when it was suddenly zapped by a jolt of electricity.

"That was... paralysis?" Ethan said confused.

"An after effect of Dragon Breath, it has a chance of inflicting static." Pryce informed Ethan.

"Alright then, Gyarados now's your chance! Use Hydro Pump!" Ethan yelled.

Gyarados opened its mouth and blasted the paralyzed Weavile with a fierce Hydro Pump, once the water cleared it was clear to see Weavile had short circuited.

"We-avile..." It muttered before falling unconscious.

"Weavile is unable to battle, Gym leader Pryce, bring out your final Pokémon!" Morgan voiced.

"How did!?" Pryce said shocked.

"Water and electricity don't mix very well!" Ethan exclaimed. "You're killing it Gyarados, now one left to go!"

Gyarados turned to Ethan smiled. Well... at least it did the closest thing he could to smiling since his species naturally had a wide-open mouth.

"Weavile return, go get a long, nice rest." Pryce said as he returned his Pokémon.

"Is your last Pokémon Mamoswine?" Ethan asked the Gym leader.

"Correct." Pryce said as he threw his Pokéball.

"Mamoswine!" Mamoswine yelled as it was released, upon seeing it Gyarados was filled with rage.

"Shreeeeeee!" Gyarados yelled, sounding like a trumpet.

"Let's avenge our loss from yesterday Gyarados, alright, smash Mamoswine with Aqua Tail!" Ethan yelled.

Gyarados slithered over to Mamoswine at swift speed, stunning Pryce.

"So Dragon Dance doesn't just boost speed, but also power!?" He commented. "Mamoswine, respond with Rock Tomb!"

Mamoswine picked rock from the battlefield and tossed it at the speeding Gyarados, but Gyarados managed to dodge it by looping over it.

Bam! Gyarados bashed his tail into the Mamoswine, landing Super effective damage.

"Mamoswine!" Pryce yelled to his damaged Pokémon.

Mamoswine fell to its knees, but began to get up, albeit panting.

"Now Gyarados, Hydro Pump!" Ethan yelled.

Gyarados raised his mouth and blasted a fierce Hydro Pump at the Mamoswine.

"Mamoswine, freeze it with Ice Beam!" Pryce ordered. Mamoswine listened and fired an Ice Beam at the Hydro Pump, freezing it entirely and causing it to fall to the ground shattering.

"What power!" Ethan remarked.

"Mamo!" Mamoswine said, trying to strike fear in its foe.

"Mamoswine, Rock Tomb once more!" Pryce yelled, Mamoswine listened and blasted more rocks at Gyarados.

"Gyarados, destroy it with Dragon Breath!" Ethan yelled, Gyarados listened and fired a fierce Dragon Breath. However, this time a few chunks of rock blasted into Gyarados, making him scream.

"Oh no!" Ethan cried.

"Ethan's doing so well... and so is Uncle." Morgan said to herself. "Whoever wins this, it ought to be good."

"You've battled well today Ethan. But it's time for this battle to end." Pryce proclaimed. "You made the mistake of not taking some more time to train, if you have, you may have won this."

"The battle's not over yet, and we're not even close to our breaking point!" Ethan announced.

"Rahhhh!" Gyarados screeched, agreeing with Ethan.

"Mamoswine, time for our new move!" Pryce demanded. "Use Rock Blast!"

"Rock Blast!?" Ethan said surprised.

Mamoswine's eyes glowed as it raised from the ground many pieces of rock, forming a gigantic sphere made up of nothing but the battlefield.

Even Gyarados was a bit shaken up seeing the size of the rock, it was much bigger than his head and more some.

"If that hits, it'll be bad!" Ethan panicked. "Gyarados, your strongest Hydro Pump, do it quick!"

Gyarados listened and fired off a large Hydro Pump straight at the Mamoswine.

"Mamoswineee!" Mamoswine roared as it threw the Rock Blast.

The collision of the two attacks was so great both Ethan and Pryce had to look away. The attacks passed each other and both Gyarados and Mamoswine were hit by the Super effective moves.

Gyarados finally closed his eyes and landed face first into the ground, defeated.

"Gyarados!" Ethan screamed out as he ran to his Pokémon.

"It's over, we've won!" Pryce exclaimed as his Mamoswine was still standing.

"For our first battle, that was perfect Gyarados, thank you so much!" Ethan said as he returned Gyarados to his Great Ball.

"You were strong kid, but I've won, train up some before you try to challenge me again I suggest." Pryce told Ethan as he walked up to him.

"Actually Uncle, think again, look at Mamoswine." Said Morgan.

Pryce turned to his Pokémon, it was unconscious despite its eyes being wide opened, it couldn't move. It had fainted despite still standing from pure will alone.

"Mamoswine, I can't believe this!?" Pryce freaked.

"So... therefore..." Morgan said. "I declare this battle as a tie, meaning... oh man, sorry Ethan but you're not getting that Glacier badge.

"Humph, alright then sonny. Take care of your Pokémon real well until we have our rematch." Pryce told the confused Ethan.

"But wait... Morgan you're wrong, I never lost." Ethan smiled this shocked Pryce and his niece.

"W-what do you mean...?" Morgan asked.

"Y-yeah, it's a tie. She already declared it!" Pryce stated.

"How is it a tie, when I still have one Pokémon left." Ethan said releasing a Pokémon from his Pokéball.

"Hera Hera!" Heracross said upon release, he landed and turned to Ethan.

"Heracross was never defeated, I withdrew him right before the battle with Weavile got too serious." Ethan said making Pryce laugh.

"You've done it kid, this time you've really outsmarted me! You're amazing." Pryce said, reaching into his pocket.

"He's right Ethan, it's not everyday someone can beat my Uncle, you're really special!" Morgan said cheerfully.

"So that means I'm getting the Glacier badge?" Ethan asked.

"That's right, here we have it, the Glacier badge!" Pryce said handing it over to Ethan who accepted it.

"We did it Heracross, alright!" Ethan said to his Pokémon.

Heracross held his fist out and Ethan did the same fist bumping his Pokémon.

"Now return, you did amazing today." Ethan said returning Heracross to his Pokéball.

"You know kid, I don't think I've seen such talent around here in a while, you remind me of this girl who once challenged me." Pryce recalled.

"Who...?" Ethan asked.

"Smart, strong, spunky girl, I believe her name was Kris." He said rubbing his chin. "She beat me on her first try, you two seem much alike."

"Kris..." Ethan said. "Y-you've heard what happened, right?"

"Hmm, what. I thought she'd have potential to take on the league and become Champion, but she never did, or at least I never heard anything about it." Pryce said trying to remember.

"N-never mind, anyways thank you both!" Ethan said.

"The pleasure is mine." Pryce said smiling.

"Take care Ethan." Morgan replied.

Ethan smiled at the girl. "You know, you're going to have to take on your Uncle next, best of luck."

"T-thank you." She said reaching out her hand.

Ethan shook her hand before heading off back to the Pokémon Center. And with that he now had seven badges, just one to go before the league.

Finally we can move on from Mahogany, so much has happened since he entered, and now what will come next...
