Chapter 59: Total Vicory
After finding a poor desk attendant who has stuck in the Goldenrod radio tower Ethan ran along with her to Whitney's gym, protecting her along the way.
"And here we are!" Ethan said releasing the woman's arm. They stood in front of the Gym and she looked thankful.
"Oh thank you, kid, thank you!" She said frantically shaking Ethan's arm.
"It was nothing, now go and stay safe!" Ethan said opening the door.
"Bay!" Bayleef assured her.
Inside the gym was at least thirty civilians taking shelter from Team Rocket, Whitney was nice enough to let them stay so they'd be safe. The woman scurried in and was welcomed by the others.
"T-Team Rocket!?" An elderly lady said terrified as she saw Ethan's appearance.
"O-oh this! No-no I'm not Team Rocket!" Ethan explained. "I'm going to need to change!"
After changing back to his usual attire, Ethan was ready to continue his way up the flight of stairs to the radio tower.
"Get in Bayleef!" Ethan said as he held the door to the tower for his starter as she rushed in the room.
"Alright! Let's make our way to those stairs and find that Proton guy and kick his ass!" Ethan declared. On the back of his mind he also thought about his father.
….
"Team Rocket members are patrolling the streets everywhere!" The boy's mother freaked. "Your father left saying he had to go and stop them."
Ethan quietly tiptoed to across the street and on the other side he saw at least five Team Rocket members walking around as if they owned the place. Ethan turned back to his Mom who looked worried.
"A-Allen. I know I shouldn't be, but I'm worried. But deep down I know he'll be okay." Eliza said. "Ethan, we have to go and hide now, it's dangerous!"
….
I've got to find Dad too, for Mom! Ethan determined.
Ethan stormed up the stairs and upon entering the second floor saw two already defeated Team Rocket grunts with their backs on the wall in defeat.
"H-he was an animal!" The grunt on the left to Ethan said, looking as if he had just awoken. He had bruises on his face and his outfit was tattered, it was clear someone attacked him.
"What are you talking about!?" Ethan asked.
"That guy, with that fire type. We were no match for him..." He said before he fell unconscious.
"Hey, hey, you awake!?" Ethan said getting on his knees trying to speak to the man. Ethan shook the grunt but he wouldn't budge.
"Damn..." Ethan said as he got up from his knees. Bayleef walked in front of Ethan and tried to tell him something.
"Bayleef Bayleef!" She barked.
"Huh, you thinking what I'm thinking girl?" Ethan asked his grass type. "A guy with a fire type, that could either be my dad with his Hoenn starter or Silver with his Quilava."
"Bay!" She quickly agreed.
"Either way it shouldn't be too much of a problem, if they're up going against Team Rocket then he or she or whatever they are must be on our side!" Ethan said confidently. "Now let's get on to that Broadcast room!"
"Ahem, do you hear me?" Said the voice of a man wearing a trench coat speaking into a microphone in the radio broadcast room. "...I am the Director. We have decided to broadcast wonderful shows to praise Team Rocket! Everyone, I don't want to hear you complain. Just do a good job to..."
The man stopped speaking vines came from behind him from the wall and grabbed and raised him slamming his back into the wall.
"W-what it is going on!" He panicked trying to shake but the vines wouldn't let up and grabbed him covering his mouth.
The door slammed open; it was Ethan who glared at the man.
"Dress up however you like, I'll never not know who you are, Petrel..." Ethan said.
"I-it's you, that... kid!" Petrel screamed in a muffled voice.
"Bayleef!" Ethan said snapping his fingers. "You can release him now!"
The vines finally dropped Petrel releasing him to the floor on his knees as he panted heavily, and with that the grass type came following shorty behind Ethan.
"Good job girl!" Ethan congratulated her.
"Bay!" She smiled.
"Err... again you interrupt our plans, first in Ecruteak, then Mahogany, and now here in Goldenrod." Petrel muttered.
"Look! We can do this the easy way or the hard way, take yourself and your gowns out of this city or else this'll have to get physical!" Ethan said taking out a Pokéball.
"Hmph, talk big after you've beaten me!" Petrel said taking out a Pokéball of his own. "Now go, Rapidash!"
"Rapidash!" Cried the mammal-like Pokémon with a blazing mane.
"That's the Pokémon you faced Lance with!" Ethan remembered before throwing his Pokéball. "Now go Ampharos!"
"Amphar!" Ampharos yelled as he was released.
Ethan looked around, not much room to battle, so that meant no Gyarados but that shouldn't be too much of a problem since Ampharos was strong in his own right.
"Rapidash, Flame Wheel!" Petrel yelled, Rapidash listened and pounced towards Ampharos forming a ball of flames which was so hot Ethan and Bayleef could feel its pressure.
"Ampharos! Fire Punch!" Ethan yelled, Ampharos listened and punched Rapidash directly causing a struggle between the two fire type attacks, however the Flame Wheel proved to be more powerful.
"Amphar!" Ampharos cried out as it was knocked back.
"Rapid, Rapidash!" Rapidash said proudly.
"Heh, your weak Ampharos or whatever you called it should stick to electric type moves!" Petrel laughed. "The minute it even tries to imitate a fire type move it's over!"
Rapidash however was quickly zapped by a jolt of electricity getting Petrel's concern.
"S-Static!? Not good!" He said face palming.
"Quickly, use Thunderbolt!" Ethan yelled.
"Ampharos!" Ampharos yelled as he blasted the poor Rapidash with a powerful Thunderbolt causing Rapidash to scream in pain.
"Ra-Rapidash!" Petrel screamed. But it was too late as the fire horse Pokémon fell to the ground.
"You said my weak Ampharos should stick to electric type moves right, good advice!" Ethan smirked. "You're doing great Ampharos!"
"Bay!" Bayleef cheered him on.
"Amphar!" Ampharos nodded.
"N-no need to be petty!" Petrel said as he withdrew his fallen Pokémon and pulled out another Pokéball. "This next Pokémon will tear and of your Pokémon in half, Machamp go!"
"Ma... Champ!" Machamp uttered upon landing to the ground, flexing its arms.
"Machamp aye, Ampharos, return and get some rest for now." Ethan said to his Pokémon.
"Amphar? Amphar!" Ampharos agreed before Ethan returned him.
"Now, Espeon I choose you!" Ethan yelled as he tossed her Pokéball.
"Espe!" Espeon said landing before Ethan.
"You've got this lady; I know you do!" Ethan sad to his psychic type.
"Bayleef Bay!" Bayleef agreed cheering her on.
Espeon listened to their words of encouragement and formed a battle stance.
"You think you'll win this just because you've got a psychic type!?" Petrel said. "Machamp, start with Strength!"
Machamp charged towards Espeon with all four of his arms going for what appeared to be a chokehold.
"Espeon, Quick Attack!" Ethan yelled.
"Espeon!" Espeon exclaimed as she bounced off the ground with Quick Attack, she leaped onto the Machamp's face pushing it back and allowing her to be launched into the air.
"Ma-Machamp!" It said smacking itself with its hands to quickly recover.
"Dynamic Punch!" Petrel yelled.
Machamp listened and went in for the devastating move, but before it could land the attack upon being just an inch away from Espeon's face it was lifted into the air.
"What!?" Petrel screamed.
"Good thinking Espeon, that's Psychic!" Ethan remarked. "Now, smash him into the wall!"
Espeon listened and sent the fighting type flying into the wall breaking a Machamp sized hole through it and smashing it against the next room.
"Ma... champ..." Machamp groaned in pain as it passed out.
"Return, damn it all!" Petrel cursed as he took his Machamp back to its Pokéball.
"Good girl, that was a heavy hitter you took out!" Ethan told Espeon.
"Espe!" She said proudly.
"Err, here we go, Weezing!" Proton yelled throwing his Pokéball.
"Weezing!" Weezing shouted. Ethan could smell the toxins coming from the poison type's mouth and covered his nose.
"E-Espeon, you've got this as well alright!" Ethan said.
"Bayleef Bay!" Bayleef agreed.
"Weezing, use Smokescreen now!" Petrel yelled.
Weezing opened its mouth and unleashed smoke, blocking both Ethan and Espeon's vision.
"Where'd it go!" Ethan said as he looked around unable to see a thing. "Bayleef, Espeon, where are you guys!?"
"Bay!" Bayleef cried, revealing she was right by his side.
It was then when Ethan felt a burning sensation, and it appeared to be coming his way and it seemed to be hotter than magma itself. From the smoke in front of him he could see a red wave of heat about to hit him.
"No!" Ethan said, before it could hit him however Bayleef used her Vine Whip to catch the ball of heat, suffering from the burn in the process.
Once the smoke cleared, it was revealed to be Weezing who used a Overheat attack.
"Ko-Koffing!?" Koffing said as it was being lifted into the air by something other than Bayleef's Vine Whip. It was Espeon's Psychic as she was right beneath it going in for an opportunity to attack.
"You, trying to kill me huh!?" Ethan yelled at Petrel in an angered tone.
"I-It wasn't me; it was all Weezing's instinct!" Petrel said putting his hands up.
"Just finish it off Espeon!" Ethan yelled.
Espeon did just that and smashed Weezing into the ground, cracking the floor below it. And with that Weezing was unable to battle.
"Three Pokémon down?" Petrel said taking back his Weezing.
"Espeon you return too!" Ethan said sending her back to her Pokéball. "That was awesome, you really are incredible!"
"This next Pokémon will be your downfall!" Petrel yelled as he threw his Pokéball. "Go, Quagsire!"
"Quagsire!" The blue water type shrieked.
"I battled that Pokémon before, alright then!" Ethan said taking out a Pokéball and throwing it. "Ampharos, let's get back to battling!"
Ampharos landed on the battlefield and faced off with the Quagsire before it.
"Really now, using an electric type now, interesting choice!" Petrel chuckled.
"Wait, what...?" Ethan said confused.
"Quagsire, we'll start with Water Gun!" Petrel commanded.
Quagsire listened and blasted water from its mouth launching it at Ampharos.
"Nothing Ampharos can't handle!" Ethan yelled.
The Water Gun landed on Ampharos who hadn't bothered to dodge. However, Ampharos stood still in perfect condition.
"Amphar!" Ampharos exclaimed with his hands on his hips.
"Now, blast it with Thunderbolt!" Ethan shouted.
Ampharos listened and surged with electricity, blasting the Quagsire at close range.
"It's Super effective!" Ethan said confidently.
As the electricity left Quagsire, it was just fine. Not having taken any damage from the move surprising Ethan.
"Quag... Sire!" It yelled happily.
"A-Amphar!?" Ampharos said shocked.
"I, forgot! Quagsire is a dual type also happening to be ground, so it's immune to all electric type attacks!" Ethan realized smacking himself on the forehead.
"Hmph, looks like you're not as smart as I feared." Petrel laughed. "Now Quagsire, go and use Mud Shot!"
Quagsire listened to Petrel's command and fired a Mud Shot at Ampharos landing directly.
"Ampharos!" Ethan shouted in concern.
Ampharos landed on its back after having been dealt Super effective damage but flipped back landing on its feet.
"Bay Bay!" Bayleef said suggesting to Ethan she be switched out in Ampharos's stead.
"Ampharos, you can switch out with Bayleef if you like?" Ethan asked, but Ampharos simply shook its head no.
"Amphar, phar!" Ampharos said with a smile turning and nodding at Ethan, making him smile.
"Alright then we'll be staying in the game then!" Ethan exclaimed.
"Cocky fool!" Petrel scoffed. "Alright then, Quagsire, time for Giga Impact!"
"Quag, Sire!" It yelled as it leaped into the air aiming for Ampharos while being enveloped in a rainbow-like aura.
"Dodge it then use Confuse Ray!" Ethan spoke.
Ampharos followed the Quagsire's movements carefully awaiting its arrival.
Once Quagsire was a meter away Ampharos jumped back just barely avoiding the move. Quagsire crashed to the ground with an angry look on its face.
"Do it now!" Ethan yelled.
"Amphar!" Ampharos shouted, but not using Confuse Ray. Ampharos instead had his tail glow a solid white as it spun and smacked the Quagsire in the face, his tail appearing to be extremely heavy in that split instance.
"Woah!" Ethan reacted.
"Quagsire..." Quagsire squealed landed flat on its face in defeat.
"I-It lost even with the type advantage!?" Petrel cried as he returned it to its Pokéball.
"That wasn't just any attack, that was Iron Tail!" Ethan laughed. "That's awesome Ampharos, good job boy!"
"Amphar, Amphar!" Ampharos said joyfully hopping from one foot to the other.
"Fine, here goes nothing! Go, Stantler!" Petrel yelled while throwing his next Pokéball.
"Stantler!" Cried the caribou-like Pokémon. It had a tan pelt with a cream-colored belly with a few spots on its back. Its tail was large, short and round, and each of its leg ended with a black hoof. The Pokémon's most defining feature however was its long mighty antlers.
Ethan instantly brought out his Pokédex to scan it.
"Stantler, the Big Horn Pokémon. The curved antlers subtly change the flow of air to create a strange space where reality is distorted."
"You could take this one Ampharos but I say you get some rest for now!" Ethan said returning Ampharos to his Pokéball and grabbing another one. "Go, Heracross!"
"Heracross!" Heracross shrieked upon being released.
"End it quickly with Close Combat!" Ethan yelled. Heracross listened and sped for the Stantler at full speed prepared to land a flurry of blows.
"Quickly, Hypnosis!" Petrel screamed.
Stantler's eyes glowed a magenta color and Heracross looked into its eyes, the bug type quickly began stumbling before falling to the ground.
"He... ra... cross..." Heracross muttered as it fell asleep.
"Hypnosis huh." Ethan said looking to Bayleef. "Watch carefully Bayleef, something really sick is about to happen."
"Bay...?" She said confused.
"Stantler, now use Stomp!" Petrel screamed with a confident look on his face.
Stantler stood on its hind legs before the sleeping Heracross prepared to slam him with a Stomp attack, but as it crashed its hooves into the ground Heracross suddenly moved and dodged it reappearing behind Stantler.
"S-Stantler!?" Stantler said turning its head in confusion.
"Bay!?" Bayleef said surprised while watching Heracross. He was still asleep as he had his eyes closed and all while snoring.
"You were at the Pokémon Center at the time, but that's Sleep Talk." Ethan told his starter. "Heracross learned the move back during the rematch with Pryce."
"Bayleef..." She said nodding her head amazed at Heracross's new technique.
Stantler quickly turned around trying to jab his antler into the sleeping Heracross, but Heracross easily dodged it and reappeared behind Stantler once again.
"T-this is ridiculous!" Petrel said taking a deep sigh.
Heracross raised its arm and hit the Stantler in the neck with Brick Break. And with one hit knocked it on the ground unconscious.
"Hera... Cross..." Heracross snoozed all while raising one arm up in victory.
"All I've got is one Pokémon left..." Petrel gulped while returning his defeated Stantler.
"Great job Heracross you're insanely tough, return and get some rest!" Ethan said withdrawing Heracross.
Petrel pulled out his final Pokéball and took one last glance at Ethan before throwing it. "Go, please don't lose this!"
Out from his Pokéball came a rounded, pink, digital Pokémon in the shape of what appeared to be a drinking bird. It had a relatively flat bill and large, Round eyes. Its legs are simple ovoid growths along its side. In color it was both red and blue.
"That's one I haven't seen before!" Ethan said as he took out his Pokédex to scan it.
"Porygon2, the Virtual Pokémon. This upgraded version of Porygon is designed for space exploration. It can't fly, however."
"It says it can't fly, then I'll use one that can!" Ethan exclaimed as he threw a Pokéball.
"Togetic!" Togetic cried out upon being released. He instantly flew to Ethan and spun around him joyfully.
"Haha, hey boy." Ethan said grabbing Togetic in his arms and cradling him.
"Toge, Togetic!" Togetic laughed.
"D-do you plan to defeat me with cuteness?" Petrel accused. "Well, I hate cute things, it won't work!"
"S-shut up!" Ethan said as he released Togetic from his arms. "You'll find my Togetic isn't just cute, he's also a beast!"
"Togetic!" Togetic agreed wagging his hands and feet.
"W-whatever, Porygon2, use Thunder Shock!" Petrel yelled.
Porygon2 listened and fired a beam of electricity directly at Togetic.
"T-that's not good! Dodge!" Ethan yelled.
Togetic listened and with its swift speed easily dodged the attack, the Thunder Shock landed on the ground right where Togetic was supposed to be crackling before vanishing into nothingness.
The flying type reappeared behind Porygon2 up in the air and awaited Ethan's next words.
"So quick!" Petrel said shocked.
"Now Togetic! Use Aerial Ace!" Ethan yelled.
Togetic charged smashing into Porygon2 sending it flying back and landing on the ground.
"T-this can't be!" Petrel cursed. "Come on, get up!"
Porygon2 got up albeit having taken serious damage from the move, it struggled to get up.
"Now, end it with Extrasensory!" Ethan said.
Togetic's eyes glowed red as it threw a vortex at the Porygon2 and catching hold of it before throwing it into the wall.
"No!" Petrel shrieked; however, it was over. Porygon2 landed flat on its face in defeat.
"Great job Togetic!" Ethan said happily as Togetic rushed into his arms.
"Togetic!" Togetic said while hugging Ethan. Bayleef watched the two with a grin on her face.
"I-I lost... and without taking out a single one of his Pokémon!?" Petrel said while withdrawing his last Pokémon.
"It's over Petrel, you're done." Ethan said taking out Togetic's Pokéball. "Thanks a bunch, now go and get some rest!"
"Toge! Togetic!" Togetic said nodding his head as Ethan returned him.
"Petrel, tell me where's the director, now!" Ethan demanded.
"Ok, Ok. I'll tell you where he is." Petrel sighed.
"When man..." Petrel said wiping some sweat off his face. "Listen carefully. We stashed the real Director in the underground warehouse. It's at the far end of the Goldenrod Tunnel. But it won't matter if you don't have the basement key!" Petrel laughed while pulling out the Basement key and waving it over Ethan's face.
Ethan however quickly snatched it from the man making him drop his smile. "Awe man..." He pouted.
"Haha, thanks." Ethan said before turning to Bayleef. "You heard the guy, underground basement here we go!"
"Bay!" She agreed as she followed behind Ethan.
Ethan quickly ran up the flight of stairs to the main room before heading for the door and exiting on his way for the railroad.
That Petrel really is a joke... compared to that Proton... Ethan thought fretting having to face the man.
As Ethan entered the railroad along with Bayleef he turned a corner searching for a slot for the basement key but it was then when he bumped into a woman knocking him on his bottom.
"Ouch!" Ethan said as he got up and rubbed his butt, he looked up to see the Kimono girl in red completely startling him.
"O-oh! It's you!" He said surprised.
"Tee-hee, I apologize for that, I must watch where I'm going." She said lowering her head to bow.
"I-it's alright, no need for all that. I'm the one who can never watch where I'm going." Ethan assured her as she recollected herself.
"I suppose..." She spoke. "Team Rocket members in black suits have been running around... I was wondering what was going on. So, you took on Team Rocket same as you have in Ecruteak when you defended us?"
"Y-yeah, someone's got to stop them." Ethan said rubbing the back of his head.
"You are impressive!" The Kimono girl commented. "You may even be able to face the legendary Poké..."
She suddenly stopped herself and laughed.
"Hahaha! Never mind. I must go now." She said as she walked past Ethan and Bayleef.
"Woah, hold on a sec!" Ethan said turning around. "The street's crawling with Team Rocket members! It's not safe!"
The woman turned around and bowed her head once more. "I really do appreciate your concern. But it is alright, this time I've come equipped with Pokémon in case anyone tries anything." She said revealing a Great Ball in her palm.
"I see. But can I ask you something. Can you at least tell me your name?" Ethan asked. "I've known you for so long, but I've only ever known you as a Kimono girl, well... I think I at least deserve to know who you really are."
"Of course, Ethan, of course, I am Zuki." She said before walking off. "And please, do be safe yourself."
"Zuki..." Ethan said as he watched her walk off. He finally turned to his starter. "Alright then, let's go!"
Man, that battle was a complete wash, now I'd like to make it clear that the other executives we've seen so far other than Petrel being Proton and Ariana are much stronger than Petrel at least in this story. I've always found Petrel to be kind of a joke character, so...
