Pokémon Crimson Gold
Chapter 90: Hatred and Brutality
In the Indigo league Trainers fought for many reasons, part of it was to win of course, but there was more than just that. Some fought for honor, to prove themselves among the many others attending the tournament. Similarly, some fought to fill their ego, or for fame, and others... to find themselves.
Silver stood in the opposite corner of the ring and in front of him was his first Pokémon for the match; his Typhlosion who had been with him since the start of his journey.
Standing opposed to him was his opponent who has on his last Pokémon. A Kanto Trainer by the name of Randall who was using a Lickitung which was heavily injured.
The Lickitung was sweating profusely with burn marks all over him. Poor Pokémon was hit head on with a tremendous Flamethrower and in more than one case during the battle itself.
Typhlosion however was perfectly fine. The heat wave radiating of his back blazed hotter than the Sun itself, and in its eye could be seen a confident gleam.
The announcer stayed true to his guns narrating over each battle to a tea. "It looks like Contestant Randall's Lickitung is on the ropes, could we be nearing the conclusion of the battle!?"
Randall, Silver's opponent was nearly sniveling. After getting all eight badges he would have the whole world watch as his dreams and aspirations were crushed.
"P-please Lickitung, we've come so far, we can't lose this, please, not when everyone is finally noticing me!" The kid yelled to his fatigued Pokémon who didn't even have enough energy left to look back at his Trainer. The Lickitung tried to take a few steps forward towards Typhlosion, but it began to stumble.
"Li-Lickiii... Lickitung..." The Licking Pokémon cried out taking few more steps towards Typhlosion. Despite its fatigue an aura of determination could still be felt from the audience. To still be standing after all the damage it had taken.
Silver hadn't spoken a word for much of the battle. He had kept his mouth shut for the most of it, only having given one command the whole time and at the beginning too. In fact, he hadn't even looked his opponent in the eye or even paid close attention throughout its entirety, but now that it was ending, it was his time.
He raised one arm which from his view covered the weak Lickitung. "Now's the time Typhlosion, finish it one last blow, Wild Charge!"
The Volcano Pokémon listened to his Trainer's order. Typhlosion's entire body glew yellow along with the electric spark which enveloped him. In a seemingly impossibly quick blur Typhlosion crossed the battlefield in seconds crashing into Lickitung which caused an explosion almost exactly like a light show.
"What awesome power, could this mean the end for Contestant Randall's time reign!?" The announcer screeched into his microphone as he readjusted his glasses with his underhand.
Randall was nearly pulling his hair out while Silver was completely calm; not even appearing to be happy in the slightest with what had to have been his victory.
Finally the smoke had cleared. Lickitung was knocked out cold with not a chance of getting up. The foe's two Pokémon having been taken out without any fuss at all, Typhlosion fought basically on auto-pilot the whole time.
"And there we have it folks, Contestant Silver takes the victory, you can only get this kind of action at the Indigo league!" The announcer yelled singing praise towards the winner of the affair. Just as he cheered so did the audience as Silver began to take steps off the stage after returning his Typhlosion.
Before Silver could walk off without even a single word towards his opponent, he stopped having heard the cries of Randall as he held his Pokémon in his arms.
Silver turned watching as the kid returned his gaze. With tears in his eyes he muttered the simple words. "Not even an acknowledgment huh, you bastard."
The redhead finally turned around having still no words. Not because he thought his opponent was pathetic, which he did of course, but for another reason, he couldn't get his mind off what he had just done.
….
"It's done, Flamethrower and end it!" Silver yelled, Quilava listened, and pulled its head back and exhaled a fierce flame.
Lance focused carefully on the battle, not even blinking.
The fire hit Dragonite head on once more, but it got up, albeit slowly, to Quilava's surprise.
"Stay down you beast! Quilava, unleash your full power!" Silver commanded.
Quilava used every bit of fire it had pouring it into the attack, but Dragonite stood on its two feet to its surprise.
Quilava could no longer use up any more fire type moves, it was burnt out and needed a breather, it took two steps back in fear of the Dragonite.
"Quil...Quilava, Quilava..." The poor Pokémon whimpered.
Lance finally raised his arm and pointed. "Dragonite, Aqua Tail!" Hearing Lance speak shocked Silver, as he hadn't even heard him breathe for the entire battle.
Using all the power it had, Dragonite swung the Aqua Tail and hit Quilava in the gut, sending it flying backwards.
Quilava was flung passed Silver and into a tree, completely knocking it and several trees down behind it. Quilava slid to the ground and landed unconscious.
Silver turned around, raised Quilava's Pokéball and returned it, having nothing to say.
….
Much to the boy's surprise, he felt someone grip on to his shoulder. He turned around to see Randall back for more.
"I hate people like you, how could someone disregard any form of respect for their opponent, huh!?" The guy yelled. "I've been dealing with assholes like you my entire life, and sure I may be weak, weak compared to you, but I'll get strong, and when I do, I'll never become like you, I'll remember who I am!"
Randall was still clutching onto Silver's shoulder and the redhead could feel his vicious grip. He didn't like it not one bit, although he was trying to repress his anger, he let loose in this moment.
"Then you will remain weak, and a fool!" Silver shouted, just about loud enough that Randall had enough of it. He let go of the boy's shoulder and turned around walking.
Silver turned around and put his hands in his pockets. He was mad, and he didn't know why. But now he was mad at something more, he was mad at himself. How could he have done that just now? He considered himself to have changed for the better since his time in Goldenrod; could it all have been in his head.
The boy looked up into the audience. He could see the one man he could never defeat. Lance, the Champion of both Kanto and Johto. Of course, Lance wasn't paying Silver much attention, but it didn't matter much.
Who... who have I become? Silver asked himself. He must have been standing there for longer than he imagined as he heard the sound of footsteps approaching.
He looked up. Coming close to him in his general direction was the mystery man he had met yesterday. The man donning the trench coat and the fedora: Mister Viridian.
Of course, Silver didn't want to pay him any mind. He simply began to walk past the man but quickly stopped as he heard the sound of the man's cruel snigger.
"Haha, that was amazing. How you crushed that kid's hopes and dreams, and all without saying a single word." Mister Viridian said with a crooked grin as he stared down Silver's back. "You know, it's nice to know some people haven't changed... Leonardo."
Leonardo... just the utter of that name horrified the boy as he turned around in shock as he watched Mister Viridian walk off with a haunting laugh. He was shaking, and he didn't even know why, he was Silver, not this Leonardo.
"W-what's wrong with me..." Silver said shaking his head trying to free himself from his anger. "...He called me Leonardo? I don't even know who that is, but... why does it seem familiar..."
Silver finally marched off trying to get this whole situation off his mind. For some reason he was letting this man he had never met get to him. He decided to let it continue no further, as he walked off however, Professor Elm monitored him closely from the audience.
"...That kid, did you see that Typhlosion he had?" Elm asked looking over to Eliza.
"Why of course I have, he seemed powerful, funny he'd even have a Johto starter in the first place, I'm guessing he's from here, but then again, I'm pretty sure I remember the announcer not saying what town or city he's from?" Eliza guessed.
"You're right, you're right... either way, I'm just intrigued by the Typhlosion..." Elm said before seeing the light from on screen the monitor. Set to battle next was the same Mister Viridian who taunted Silver, and next to him, a girl named Mandy.
Silver stood by the exit of the plateau and watched. Watched as the man who just taunted him entered the ring with the same sinister smile on his face.
Across the ring from him came Viridian's opponent, Mandy, she had short, spiky black hair and wore on her head a band with a lightning bolt in the middle of its design. She had blue eyes, and a mole on her bottom lip. She wore a baggy white shirt along with short blue jeans that almost appeared to be cut by scissors. Along with black boots and black gloves.
"Ready to get your ass kicked by a girl, Mister?" Mandy asked confidently putting her hands on her hips. Mr. V of course looked her up and down trying to get a feel from his opponent. She looked like a kid. She must've been a cocky amateur.
"If I was here to get my 'ass kicked,' then why would I be in the ring with a child?" Mister Viridian said with a smirk. "Although I do appreciate the attitude, I assume you can back up that talk."
"Ha! You bet your life I can, I was trained personally by the man, the myth, the legend himself, Lieutenant Surge!" Mandy claimed which caught Viridian's interest.
"Really now... Lieutenant Surge... and of course that would mean that you've beaten him in battle, otherwise you wouldn't be here now." Mister Viridian asked getting a head nod from his opponent.
"That's right, I had to get those eight badges somehow friend." Mandy chuckled before turning to the announcer. "Hey buddy, get on with it and get your announcements out the way so we can battle!"
"O-oh, right, I didn't forget anything." The announcer chuckled before getting to his microphone. "And here we have it, Contestant Mandy, from Vermillion City, up against Mister Viridian, from, well you know, Viridian City!"
As the audience cheered for the upcoming battle. The three judges watched, albeit some watched less than others. Lorelai was nearly asleep while Sullivan was bored out of his mind tapping his fingers repeatedly on the table. The only person paying close attention was Professor Oak.
I don't like the sound of this guy, what a weird alias, well, what can you do... Oak thought. He generally got a bad feeling out of the guy, he turned around to both Lorelai and Sullivan and gave a disapproving look.
"You guys, you can't keep nearly falling asleep or slacking off during these matches, we've got to watch and judge these battles in case anything happens." Professor Oak explained as Sullivan and Lorelai got up.
"Fine, I'm up." Lorelai said rubbing the back of her head.
"I'm awake you doof." Sullivan said insultingly looking over towards Oak,
"Ehh... just making sure alright." Oak said with a grin.
Lorelai readjusted her eyes having seen the man standing in the ring. "It's that guy... weirdo who named himself after Viridian."
"And what about him?" Sullivan asked. "Technically he doesn't have to give us his real name, if he wants to protect his identity then that's fine."
"I'm not saying that's the problem, he's just creepy is all." Lorelai commented staring down the man from afar. She was surprised though as the man turned his head staring directly back at her.
The Elite four slut, don't worry, I never liked you much either... Mister Viridian thought to himself as he turned his head back facing his opponent.
"Alllrightt! may both you release your first Pokémon, and again do please try and do it at the same time, can't have one of you getting the advantage right from the beginning." The announcer explained getting a head nod from both Mister Viridian and Mandy.
"I'm not going to let the lieutenant down; I'm going to wipe the floor with you!" Mandy uttered with the upmost confidence as she pulled out a Pokéball.
"Hmph, I love Trainers like you, your confidence is truly inspiring." Viridian said pulling out a Pokéball of his own. "I'm going to thoroughly enjoy robbing you of all your glee and enthusiasm, that truly is the one thing that gives me joy."
"Uhhh... kind of creepy but I'll ignore that." Mandy said as she tossed her Pokéball.
And so did Mister Viridian, throwing his Pokéball and the two both opened at the same time unleashing two Pokémon onto the battlefield.
On the side of the girl, a... Pokéball? Or at least that's what half of the audience assumed before noticing the Pokémon's other features. It was an Electrode. A round Pokémon which basically resembled a Pokéball only with a mouth and face.
As for Mister Viridian, a large, sticky, amorphous Pokémon made of living purple sludge. Just the stench coming from the poison type's mouth could be smelt by the whole audience. This being of course the Sludge Pokémon, Muk.
"Mukkkkkk...!" Mister Viridian's Pokémon screeched raising its arms into the air. Drops of poison fell from its pits like raindrops.
"Heh, a poison type! Not very impressed!" Mandy laughed seeing her opponent's choice in Pokémon. "Alright, let's get this over with!"
"If you're not impressed now then believe me, you're going to be and more some." Mr. V said almost sounding like a threat.
Meanwhile, from the sidelines standing by the entrance Silver watched peaking his head just barley passed the corner.
Now's the time to see if he'll be a threat or not... Silver thought.
"Alright, Electrode!" Mandy yelled eagerly. "Let's end this in the first blow, Thunder Shock!"
The mighty Electrode began to glow with a bright electric charge before zapping it all the way towards Muk who showed no concern.
"Dodge it!" Mr. V commanded.
The Sludge Pokémon listened. With a swift duck oh its head Muk sunk to the floor like a puddle before springing back up into its normal form.
"Didn't work huh, then how about Sonic Boom!" Mandy yelled.
The Electrode followed its order and opened its surprisingly large mouth firing a shockwave which sounded like a sharp screech.
"Protect!" Mr. V screamed. Just in time Muk followed and raised both hands outward creating a special shield of light which blocked the Sonic Boom entirely. It passed through Muk entirely without doing any damage.
"MUKKK!" Muk screamed out aloud upon ending the Protect while raising his hands into the air excitedly.
"Woah, not bad!" Mandy smiled. "But we're still winning this, Swift!"
Electrode began to slowly motion in place before speeding up entirely. While rolling frantically a massive number of stars shot out at supersonic speeds.
Not needing to hear his Trainer's command to dodge. This Muk proved its surprising speed; easily tossing and turning allowing for himself to avoid all the stars.
"Err... Headbutttt!" Mandy shouted.
"Fire Punch Muk!" Viridian yelled.
Electrode once more rolled in place building up some sparks behind him before blasting off towards Muk who prepared a fist full of flames in his left fist.
"Wait for it and at the right moment strike!" Mister Viridian said.
Electrode was about a foot away from Muk's fist which had a trail of flames behind it. It was the right time as Muk threw its fist behind it before tossing it in front of itself. But right before it could connect the Electrode leaped into the air much to its surprise.
"M-Muk!?" Muk cried out surprised.
"Don't just stand there Muk, you know what to do!" Mister Viridian yelled bringing his Pokémon back to reality.
Muk spread both arms out wide enough to be a hug. Mandy watched confused as to what it would do next as it was leaving itself completely open for the attack.
Not letting this opportunity go to waste Electrode slammed its body straight into the Muk which didn't inflict any actual damage to the Sludge Pokémon who caught the oversized Pokéball in both arms not letting it go at all.
"Oh, shit!" Mandy cursed.
"What a tight hold, without Electrode's speed does it still have a chance at winning this battle!?" The announcer screamed into his microphone.
"Come on Electrode, you've got to be able to get out of it, come on!" Mandy yelled trying to encourage her Pokémon. But it was of no use. The Pokémon tried to move but couldn't, Muk's grasp was too hard and Electrode wasn't exactly a physically strong Pokémon.
Silver was further intrigued now as he watched patiently. From as far as he was it almost seemed like Muk was absorbing Electrode into itself.
He's good... The redhead thought.
Much to his surprise however. Mandy, who he wasn't paying much attention to called out one attack he would never had expected from her.
"Uh, Mr. Announcer guy, you might want to take a step or two back for a second." She said looking over to the man.
"Why, what's wrong!?" He asked.
"Just... don't say I didn't warn you." Mandy said with a smirk before yelling. "Now's the time, Self-Destruct Electrode!"
"S-Self-Destruct!?" Mr. Viridian reiterated.
Muk was a little scared when he noticed its opponent beginning to shake frantically while being encompassed in a bright yellow. Before it knew it the Electrode launched from within itself an explosion which caused Muk to splatter everywhere into a million small piles of sludge.
The audience was speechless. Muk was lying everywhere from the ring to the ground, heck it even got some pieces in Viridian and the announcer's face.
As for Electrode. Poor Pokémon was lying to the ground having been knocked out by his own explosion. Knocked out bad.
Of course the announcer wasn't pressed with that matter. He was more concerned with the more urgent problem.
"Um... t-that's got to be a knockout, for both Pokémon, but... is Muk... dead?" The announcer cried out. "C-cause if he is, that's an automatic disqualification for Mandy, and, probably a felony."
"Hmph, don't be a fool." Mister Viridian said looking over to the announcer before clapping both hands twice. "Come, Muk, don't waste any time."
Suddenly, the multiple pieces of sludge all over the ring and ground began to slither towards a singular point of the battlefield much to the surprise of the announcer along with the audience.
"W-what an amazing sight, Muk is coming back together like nothing happened!?" The announcer screamed before he noticed some of the goo that had splattered on his shoulder began slithering off of him, causing him to scream and drop his mic before he caught it before it could fall.
Finally, all the goo formed together into what was clearly Muk back to normal, the Pokémon gave a proud laugh and was clearly unaffected by the Self-Destruct.
"Muh, uhukukuk!" Muk laughed boasting over his fallen opponent.
"Wah, y-you can't do that, you mean I sacrificed Electrode for nothing..." Mandy frowned as she returned her fallen Pokémon. "Well, you did good nonetheless Electrode, you did good."
"Just what I wanted to see, like I said, there's nothing more I love to see more than confident young Trainers like yourself being lost in dread as I crush you over my foot." Viridian said with his signature rotten grin.
"Kinky, but not interested." Mandy joked pulling out a Great Ball. "This next one is my strongest Pokémon, listen up, your Muk is going down alright!"
"If you insist." Mister Viridian replied.
"Let's go, Electabuzz!" Mandy cried as tossed her next Pokéball unleashing the electric type.
"Electaaaa!" The Electabuzz screeched releasing onto the battlefield along with a sharp scowl. The Pokémon was surrounded by a bright electricity that easily shined twice as much as the previous Electrode.
Meanwhile as the battle was beginning to continue, even higher than the highest seating in the bleachers sat Lance. Sitting upon the very edge of the top of the colosseum disillusioned from everyone else down there other than the two in the ring.
He was overall quiet until he spoke up hearing someone walk right next to him.
"Ah, you mean to tell me you're here?" Lance said looking over to the man beside him. Standing on the railing, Allen who in one hand was holding a box of food.
"Ehh... y'know, only place around here with food's some kiddie place, think it was called Pikachu's Playhouse." Allen said opening up the wrapping as he took a seat. "Want some?"
"You should've told me you've come to Kanto, I could've showed you around, gotten you some real food." Lance chuckled as Allen handed him a box of pasta with Pokémon shaped meatballs.
"Hey man, food taste good still." Allen said taking a bite out of a bread stick. "You're right, maybe I should've told you I'd be coming sooner."
"Don't speak with your mouth open." Lance said. "Anyways, really, don't sweat it, anyways, I think I might've spotted the wife along with Elm in the audience a few seats below us, why don't you accompany them?"
"Well... uh, that's the thing..." Allen said rubbing the back of his head. "Eliza's either really mad at me, or oblivious to that I'm even here."
"What do you mean?" Lance asked.
"She knows I'm here in Kanto, but she doesn't know I'm... here." Allen explained. "See uh, some stuff happened, between me and the boy I'm afraid he might have told her."
"You mean Ethan?" Allen asked.
"Y-yeah... I really screwed the pooch this time, basically, I challenged him to a battle, and tried to prevent him from entering the league..."
"Y-you did what!?" Lance said nearly spitting out his noodles. "W-why would you do that!?"
"I don't know, I always had this... plan in mind, you know, with the boy, it wasn't supposed to turn out to the full battle it was, just me, you know, testing his resolve." Allen answered. "I played the villain, and I'm afraid Ethan still thinks I'm the villain..."
"If you don't mind me saying this... he's thought you were the villain for a long time." Lance said patting Allen on the shoulder.
"I know, I guess I've just got to find a way to make the kid forgive me, just not sure how I can?" Allen replied.
"You're a legendary Trainer Allen, but not that much of a father." Lance said honestly. "He's only what, twelve, thirteen, it's not too late for you two, plus Ethan's very forgiving. I say you take these next few months to focus on you and your family, no more Pokémon, no more trips to other regions, you've got enough money now to at least have that, don't you?"
"I hope." Allen nodded.
"Good, then go down there and speak with your wife." Lance said. "I'm sure she misses you."
"Aha, as much as I would love to she's probably pissed, so... maybe later today." Allen replied.
"Well, in that case let's just watch the battle, oh, and do you have any more fortune cookies?" He asked pointing to the one in Allen's hand.
"Sorry, just the one." Allen answered moving it away from Lance.
"Mmm... you always do that." Lance said jokingly.
Back to the battle, Electabuzz and Muk were locking eyes with each other not having moved a single muscle, or in Muk's case a single drop of slime. Both awaiting there Trainer's command.
Similarly both Mister Viridian and his younger opponent did the same eyes glued to each other before one of them called out a command first.
"Alright let's do this!" Mandy cried. "Electabuzz, Thunderbolt!"
Electabuzz sizzled with a bright electricity before launching a fierce lightning bolt which crackled across the battlefield. This attack being so much grander than Electrode's Thunder Shock from earlier at least going by visuals.
Muk was left no time to dodge as the poison type was struck with the fierce bolt which erupted an explosion on the battlefield along with a cry in pain.
"Now, let's show Muk a real Fire Punch!" Mandy ordered. Electabuzz listened running across the ring with a trail of fire behind it.
"Dodge it Muk!" Viridian yelled.
The Muk tried to dodge by lowering its head but it was too late. Electabuzz seamlessly struck a hole straight through it which hurt Muk greatly.
"Muuhhhhh!" Muk cried out nearly in tears.
"Now, finish it, Hyper Beam!" Mandy yelled cheerfully. Electabuzz smiled upon giving the command before opening his mouth preparing a bright orange beam of energy.
"Get out of there Muk!" Mister Viridian shouted but it was too late. The dangerous damn near-laser that was Hyper Beam fired from within the hole in Muk with the beam going all the way from there to the sky itself which could be noticed faintly.
"The hell!?" Mr. V yelled as his Pokémon fell back to the ground unconscious from the last blow.
"And there goes Muk, what a one-sided turn of events!" The announcer yelled into his microphone. "Looks like Contestant Viridian here's only got a single Pokémon left as well, making this a one-on-one."
"Damn you Muk, why do I even bother with you..." Mister Viridian said angerly as he recalled his fallen Pokémon.
From the sidelines Silver still watched analyzing the battle. That Electabuzz is powerful, unless this Viridian guys got anything else up his sleeve looks like I may have to worry about battling this girl.
"Yay! You're doing great Electabuzz, the Lieutenant must be so proud if he's watching this, I just know it!" Mandy said cheerfully jumping into the air repeatedly.
"Electa, Electa!" Electabuzz said flexing one muscle.
"Don't get so giddy, this battle isn't over yet I assure you." Mister Viridian said pulling out a single Pokéball. "I assure you kid, if Surge could see what's about to happen next he wouldn't be so proud."
"Hey man, it's Lieutenant Surge to you, and second, shut up and show your next Pokémon!" Mandy argued.
Mister Viridian smiled as he pulled out an Ultra Ball from behind him. "Very well, you said Electabuzz here was your strongest Pokémon, so it's only right if I show you my strongest as well."
"Doesn't matter how strong it is, cause there's no way Electabuzz is losing this battle." Mandy said confidently.
"We'll see then." Mister Viridian said as he threw his Ultra Ball almost like he was pitching a baseball.
Out from his Ultra Ball came what was clearly a fighting type. A humanoid Pokémon with a body much like an oval. It lacked a distinct neck and head, and its upper torso had almost-shaped eyes with black spaces around them. What made the Pokémon look unique was its long legs which were the most defined part of its body, not to mention it had no mouth.
"A Hitmonlee!?" Mandy said recognizing it. "No big deal, let's do this Electabuzz, let's hit it with Fire Punch!"
"Electa!" Electabuzz screeched once again dashing across the ring with flames in hand.
"Mach Punch!" Mister Viridian yelled.
Without even a second to register it, Electabuzz was cracked in the jaw with Hitmonlee quickly appearing right before it, with the electric type not being even able to react.
Electabuzz was knocked back landing on his back before he used the fall to flip right back upwards.
So fast... Mandy thought before realizing she was too lost in awe. "Electabuzz, Thunderb-"
"Close Combat!" Mr. V had already yelled. Hitmonlee began to move at a fast speed towards Electabuzz once more. Albeit it was not as fast as was with Mach Punch.
"Dodge it!" Mandy yelled.
Right as Hitmonlee threw the first fist the electric type sidestepped dodging the hit. But what it didn't miss was Hitmonlee's cold stare which gave Electabuzz a cold shiver.
"High Jump Kick!" Viridian screamed just in time.
Suddenly Hitmonlee stopped throwing its rapid-fire punches swiftly turning his body giving it a mighty kick to the face which sent Electabuzz flying back many meters.
The Electric Pokémon however before falling out of bounds caught itself by the edge of the ring using it to jump back into battle.
"Thunderbolt!" Mandy screamed.
"Electaahhhh!" Electabuzz cried out as he began to surge with electricity.
"Not so fast Hitmonlee, Mega Punch!" Mister Viridian screamed.
In another swift motion Hitmonlee ran over to Electabuzz at light speed before Thunderbolt could be used. Landing a blow straight at Electabuzz's mouth causing the poor Pokémon to scream out in pain along with a crack sound.
Electabuzz fell to the ground flat on its face which scared its Trainer. She watched as her Pokémon got up but something was wrong. Its lip was badly ruined and a tooth was chipped, in fact, its jaw was broken with a bit of blood coming through it.
"You broke my Pokémon's jaw!?" Mandy said looking up towards her opponent in shock. The man simply gave a snigger while crossing his arms.
"No, you broke your Pokémon's jaw while putting him up against my Hitmonlee, don't misunderstand, brat." Mister viridian spoke.
"Uh, a broken jaw, this kind of violence hasn't really been precedented yet, uh, Mandy, would you like to... perhaps admit defeat in light of what happened to your Pokémon?" The announcer asked genuinely concerned.
"N-nonsense, it's just a jaw it's not like it can't heal!" Mandy claimed. "What would hurt Electabuzz more is if I were to just surrender my place in this league which we've fought so hard to make!"
The audience having heard her resolve couldn't help but cheer the girl on. Who didn't like an underdog after all.
"You can do it girl!"
"Don't lose this, we believe in you!"
"Kick that poser's ass!"
Mister Viridian hearing their praise couldn't help but scoff. "The blind dogs, they don't cheer on the winner, they cheer on the loser."
"Hah, you haven't won this yet, jerk!" Mandy cried. "Me and Electabuzz are still in this!"
"Then continue battling so I can win this once and for all." Mister Viridian replied.
"Electabuzz, you've still got this boy, let's not hold anything back, alright?" Mandy asked towards her Pokémon as the electric type just now managed to get back to standing. The biggest streak of blood just about ever was coming from his bottom lip but it still refused to give.
"Meanwhile, the three judges watched with not a single member disinterested.
"Finally, a good match, you know I kind of like this Viridian guy, stupid names aside." Sullivan said turning to both Lorelai and Oak.
"Uh, think we should maybe step in and end the battle, Electabuzz's already been dealt a great deal of damage, I wouldn't want this ending in a bloodbath." Lorelai said to which made Sully scowl.
"Don't tell me your serious, the audience is loving it, isn't that what you're all about?" Sullivan asked.
"Well, yeah but, not in the misfortune of the Pokémon." Lorelai explained. "Plus, Mister Viridian has clearly won this."
"There's no such thing as, 'clearly winning."' Oak said looking over to Lorelai. "I thought you'd know that with you being Elite four."
"Former, Elite four." Lorelai clarified. "I'm not saying a turnaround is impossible, just unlikely, who will it be on if that Electabuzz dies in battle?"
"It won't come to that." Oak disagreed.
"It's just a jaw Lorelai, get over it." Sullivan said much to her annoyance.
"Fine, not my Pokémon, not my problem." Lorelai said looking away from the battle.
"That's the spirit!" Sullivan said looking over to her. But he quickly turned back as he heard the sound of the immensely fast Hitmonlee speeding across the battlefield.
Once more another blow with Mega Punch to Electabuzz, this time in the stomach which caused the poor Pokémon to split up blood.
"No!" Mandy cried nearly pulling her hair out. "I-it's not over yet, E-Electabuzz, you've got Hitmonlee in close, so use Thunderbolt!"
Electabuzz tried to light up with electricity but Hitmonlee once more cracked the Electric Pokémon in the jaw with another Mega Punch. Each blow created what felt like a shock wave of air pressure, even the audience could feel it. But that didn't matter as Electabuzz felt all of the attack.
"Oof, another strike from Mega Punch, that won't look good in a hospital bill!" The announcer cried into his microphone as blood from Electabuzz's mouth splattered on the ring floor.
"It can't be over yet Electabuzz, it can't be!" Mandy cried with a single tear. "If Thunderbolt won't work then try and go for a grab, and then shock him!"
Electabuzz although fatigued listened raising both arms trying to go for a forceful hug before Hitmonlee responded by catching his hands creating a struggle between the two as they both tried to push the other trapped in armlock.
"E-Electabuzz...!" Electabuzz screeched trying its hardest to push back its opponent. Opposed to it Hitmonlee showed no signs of strain continuing his grip.
Mandy suddenly smiled behind her pouring tears as she got a realization. "I see it now!"
"Humph, and see what if I may ask?" Mister Viridian replied.
"Pfft, don't worry about it!" She said sticking her tongue out along with a thumbs down before getting serious. "Electabuzz, Hitmonlee is trapped in your grip, so finish this with Hyper Beam!"
"N-no, that can't be good!?" Mister Viridian cried out. A Hyper Beam from close range would mean defeat for nearly any Pokémon. He had to do something.
Electabuzz gave Hitmonlee a grim smile before he opened his mouth forming a ball of energy once more which caused the fighting type to become a bit more concerned.
He turned his face towards his Trainer needing a command to which he gave.
"Don't be a fool Hitmonlee, you know what to do, Counter!" Viridian gave the command.
Suddenly Hitmonlee's eyes filled with confidence as he realized he had won. Right as Electabuzz had fired the intense beam straight for him in close range it was sent back to him causing an explosion which caused an eruption on the battlefield.
"What happened!?" Mandy asked shielding her face from the smoke. She turned her head back to see her Electabuzz lied down on the ground with burn marks everywhere, leaking blood from its broken jaw, along with both front teeth chipped. Her heart sunk.
She fell to her knees at the sight. Her Electric type she had so much faith in demolished, it would be enough to break anyone.
"E-Electabuzz... I'm sorry." She muttered quietly. As the smoke cleared along was the audience able to see the results of what happened.
The announcer winced at seeing Electabuzz laid out before turning to the Hitmonlee who was standing upright without a single bruise. In other words a completely flawless victory.
Silver who was now standing a bit closer to the ring simply closed his eyes acknowledging the battle was already over.
Damn, he's even better than I thought, whoever this guy is, I'm not even sure if Ethan could take him... let alone, myself. Silver thought trying to hide his worry.
"T-the battle's over, Electabuzz is out cold, meaning Mister Viridian is the winner!" The announcer cried out to which there was no cheers. Just silence.
The man himself stood there with a sadistic smile as he watched his opponent cry over her Pokémon, but it was then when he noticed something. It was very faint, and in another second he may not have noticed but the Electabuzz's leg moved, just by an inch.
Something he didn't like. Not one little bit...
"Hitmonlee, this battle hasn't finished, High Jump Kick now!" He commanded much to the surprise of everyone in the audience.
"What, you can't do that!?" The announcer yelled as Hitmonlee leaped into the air building up momentum in his right leg.
The three judges all stood up in shock. They couldn't believe what they were seeing as the attack continued.
Silver himself watched genuinely shook to his core as Hitmonlee slammed the knee of his leg right into Electabuzz's leg causing what sounded like a shatter along with a the sharpy cry of the already knocked out Pokémon who was awaken from the pain.
"ELECTAAAAHHHH!" Electabuzz cried out from the shocking pain in his leg.
Mandy hadn't even spoken another word or shed another tear. She simply couldn't believe what she had witnessed. Being completely, utterly, speechless.
"There, now the battle's over, return Hitmonlee." Mister Viridian said cruelly as he recalled his Pokémon back to its Pokéball.
Mandy finally regained some composure as she ran over to her Electabuzz who was now crying as she held it in her arms.
"It's okay boy, it's okay, I'm sorry..." She said holding Electabuzz; all before she got another discovery as she angerly turned to her evil opponent. "You broke his leg!"
"Hmph, good." Mister Viridian said with a smile. "I like it when you cry, cry some more for me if you will."
Before the judges could step in and do anything. Mister Viridian saw the shadow's two men approaching him from behind. He turned around to see both the Champion, along with Allen.
"You'd break the leg of a Pokémon, you sick bastard, what's the matter with you!?" Lance asked ferociously.
"Greetings Champion, it appears perhaps I've gotten a little carried away, do excuse me for that." He said as he reached into his pocket pulling out a wallet.
"Here kiddo, go by yourself something nice!" Mister Viridian said mockingly as he tossed some money towards Mandy, who needless to say didn't accept it.
"Now, gentlemen, if you'd excuse me." Mr. V said as he walked past the two, all before he felt someone grab him by the arm.
He turned back to see Allen who would not loosen his grip. "The hell is wrong with you, why maybe I ought to break your leg!"
"Oh please, you shouldn't worry about me... why don't you worry about that son of yours, Ethan." Mister Viridian said which surprised Allen so much he unhanded the man.
Allen just stood there with his mouth wide open. How did he know who my son is?
The defeated Trainer had returned her Electabuzz to its Pokéball having been utterly defeated. As she walked she found herself crossing Silver before she stopped in place.
"H-hey, didn't you just win a battle before this one if I'm not mistaken?" She asked while not looking him in the eyes.
"Correct." Silver answered.
"Well do me a favor." She said looking up into Silver's eyes. "If you find yourself up against that guy in battle, kick his ass for me!"
She then looked away from him as she ran away from there. Desperately in need of a Pokémon Center, all the while trying to hide any more tears.
Silver turned back from looking at her before he gave a soft snicker.
Sorry, but I can't. He thought. Because that guy's the last person I want to battle...
So, there it is. First of all, if anyone thinks Mister Viridian is a stupid name, I promise I'll try and give some clarification for why he calls himself later on. Trying to keep the mystery going. Also, I think this may the only chapter just about ever to not all include Ethan. Trust me, this will be the only chapter that won't have him I imagine. Anyways, I'll try my best to post tomorrow.
