"I can't believe you didn't kiss him," Regulus said, shaking his head.

"Not you too," Lena groaned as she stirred her potion. Her friends had been pestering her about the same thing since Lena and Remus had their date.

It wasn't that Lena didn't want to kiss him. It was just that she was nervous about kissing him. She kept thinking that if she was a poor kisser, Remus wouldn't want to go out with her anymore. She was worried that maybe he didn't want to kiss her.

"You've been pining after him since first year and—"

"It hasn't been since first year."

"Yes it has. Don't even try to lie to me."

Lena pouted as Regulus continued in a hushed voice. "You've been pining after him since our first year and you finally go on a date with him and you don't kiss him?!"

"I'll kiss him eventually. Well, hopefully," Lena corrected.

"What am I going to do with you?" Regulus sighed.

"Support me?" Lena suggested.

"No."

"You will if you want me to give you a birthday present," Lena said, referring to Regulus' upcoming sixteenth birthday that would take place on Easter this year.

"Fine," he agreed. "But only for the present."

"Naturally."

"So what are you doing over break?" Regulus asked.

"Nothing special really. We're just doing family dinner and I'll probably meet up with some friends. I'm going to send a letter to my parents later and ask if Gwen can spend Easter with us. I don't want her to be alone. What about you? Any plans?"

"A less than enjoyable birthday and Easter dinner all in one, Death Eater nonsense, and sneaking out to see my friend."

"Sounds like a blast."

"There very well could be. Walburga often blasts traitors off the family tree," Regulus said nonchalantly.

Lena grinned as a letter fell into her lap at breakfast. Lena tore open the envelope and began to read it.

Hi Lena,

Of course your friend can stay with us for Easter. We'll put a cot in your room. You'll sleep in the cot and she'll take your bed. And we'll get an Easter basket too so she doesn't feel left out. Also when you get back, we want to talk to you about something important. We love you so very much and look forward to seeing you soon.

All our love,

Mum and Dad

Lena was pleased that her parents agreed to Gwen staying with them, even if it meant she was to sleep on a cot. Lena was less than pleased that her parents wanted to talk to her about something important. She didn't think she had done anything to get in trouble. She had been doing well in school and she hadn't committed any crimes.

Lena pushed her worries to the back of her mind. She'd deal with them later.

The Hufflepuff turned to Gwen, who ate with Lena, Maggie and Ava for pretty much every meal."Do you want to spend Easter break with me and my family?"

Gwen just stared at her with her mouth open.

In all the time that Lena had known Gwen, which, in truth, was not very long, she had never seen her speechless.

Lena pursed her lips and repeated herself. "Do you want to spend Easter break with me and my family?"

"I wouldn't want to intrude. Easter's a family thing," Gwen said quickly, still a bit shocked.

"You wouldn't be intruding. And the Pettigrews consider friends family"

Gwen looked down at her plate, her eyes shining. "Are you sure?"

Lena grinned. "As sure as a hobbit lives in as hole in the ground."

Gwen looked up with a confused look on her face. "I have no idea what that means."

Lena smiled kindly at her. "It means yes."

Gwen smiled back. "Thank you."

"You may not be thanking me in the end. My mother's not known for her cooking skills."

Wednesday, 30 March 1977

Lena and Remus sat side-by-side in the library in their usual spot. Their ankles were intertwined together under the table and both of them had smiles on their faces as they just went over the most boring History of Magic material either of them had ever covered. They were currently talking about the letter Lena's parents had sent her. Lena hadn't wanted to bring it up on Sunday on James' birthday and decided to ignore until the inner nagging of her mind became too great.

"Are you sure they're not mad at me?"

"Of course they're not mad at you. They probably just want to talk to you about… I dunno, the career advising session that's coming up."

Lena groaned. "That's gonna suck."

Remus laughed. "It'll be fine. And if it's not, we'll just have some ice cream."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

The pair smiled at each other. And then Remus couldn't help himself and he leaned down and kissed her. Remus wasn't quite sure why he decided to kiss Lena for the first time at that moment in the library. It wasn't exactly the most romantic place in the world. It didn't matter though. Everything seemed a bit more romantic to him when Lena was involved.

Lena smiled into the kiss and kissed Remus back. Lena wasn't sure why she had been so worried about the kiss. The kiss felt like the most natural thing in the world. Lena could happily kiss Remus for the rest of her life.

Peter seemed to disagree.

"So this is what studying looks like?"

At Peter's voice, Remus and Lena broke apart rather reluctantly. Remus untangled his hand from Lena's hair and Lena took her hand off of Remus' neck. The blushing pair turned their heads and looked in front of them.

Peter was standing in front of them next to James, who was standing in between him and Sirius. James was looking up at the ceiling, embarrassed for Lena and Remus. Sirius was simultaneously smiling like an idiot and biting his lip, holding back a snicker. Peter's arms were crossed and was giving Lena and Remus one of the most unimpressed looks Remus has ever received. That said a lot considering McGonagall had once found Remus, Sirius, Peter and James in her office covered in slime.

"We were taking a break," Remus said, slowly and hesitantly.

"How many of these breaks do you two usually have?" Peter countered.

Remus went even redder and Lena kicked Peter under the table. Peter kicked her back. The siblings just glared at each other.

Remus swallowed, breaking silence. "So what's up?"

"My parents are throwing me a birthday party when we get back from break," James sighed dramatically.

"What's wrong with that? It's sweet of them," Lena said, still red in the face.

"It's embarrassing! They invited all the sixth-year Gryffindors."

"Chin up, Prongs. Lily may come," Remus said.

"Yeah, and she can't be mean to you in front of your parents," Sirius commented.

"And you'll get more presents than you normally would," Peter added.

"I guess you're right," James conceded. "And I'll have all of you guys with me. You included Lena."

The right corner of Lena's mouth turned upward in guilt. "Sorry, James. I don't think I can. Gwen's staying with us for Easter and I don't want to leave her alone with Mum and Dad."

"She is?" Peter asked. "Since when?"

"Since I wrote Mum and Dad a letter asking if she could and they said yes."

"Doesn't matter," James dismissed. "Rowle can come too. All your parents are coming anyway."

"They are?" Peter, Lena, and Remus asked in unison.

"Yep," James said, popping the 'p.'

"Hey, it looks like you two are already doing the meet the parents thing," Sirius joked, pointing at Lena and Remus.

Lena and Peter glared at Sirius and Remus just went red.
