Adora had expected a text from Catra over the next few days, but nothing came. She texted her once hoping for a reply but when one didn't come, she threw her phone down on the table and tried to ignore it. It wasn't like she expected Catra to be all over her, but how tough could it be to send a single message? Adora sighed and leaned against their kitchen table that Glimmer had stolen from her family's house.

"I'm sure she'll text you," Glimmer said, hearing Adora from her spot on the couch. Glimmer was halfway through a puzzle and seemed to be losing patience and focus. She turned to Adora, looking hopeful for a distraction. Adora had her elbows on the table, cradling her head in defeat.

"Yeah. Maybe," Adora said. She wondered if she had misread the signs. Maybe it was all just a moment of weakness. She looked sadly at her phone but slid it further away from her so she wouldn't be tempted to check.

"I mean, it's Catra so," Glimmer added, a sour expression on her face. Adora ignored her. "Just to be clear, I could take her," Glimmer continued and Adora looked at her questioningly. "You know. Like in a fight." Adora laughed.

"Yes Glimmer, I'm sure you could," Adora smiled at her friend.

"You wouldn't even know where I was. I'm so quick and agile," Glimmer pretended to duck and move from her seated position.

"You do tend to appear out of nowhere. Maybe you have superpowers."

Glimmer's mouth fell open. "You are totally right. Wow."

Adora giggled and joined her on the couch, taking over her puzzle and working quickly to put it together. Glimmer watched her in awe. "You could've told me you were good at puzzles."

"I like to keep the mystery," Adora smirked, taking apart a section of puzzle that was done completely wrong. Glimmer groaned and gave up, getting comfy instead. Her phone was buzzing repeatedly, and she gave Adora a look of apology as she answered it.

"So, can we talk house-warming party?" Glimmer asked, staring down at her phone and then up at Adora, whose attention was on the puzzle. Adora assumed the texts were from Bow.

"What about it?"

"It's this weekend."

"I know that," Adora shrugged, hoping it came off like she didn't just remember this very moment.

"We asked The Fright Zone to play," Glimmer said quietly, "Bow just said they're in." Adora paused for a moment and then shook her head.

"Great."

Glimmer waited for Adora to say more but she didn't. She was grateful she had shared with Glimmer what happened in the art room, but now she couldn't handle all the staring. Catra would be here, in her apartment, this weekend. With Scorpia, she reminded herself. Glimmer was eyeing her apprehensively. "No really. It'll be fun. Don't worry about me," Adora added, smiling at her roommate.

Glimmer did worry though and constantly asked Adora if she was sure she wanted to have this party. Adora, meanwhile, kept reminding herself that she should not attack her coworker/roommate. She knew that Glimmer could see through her façade that everything was fine but Adora was not going to cancel.

The day of the party arrived quicker than intended and Adora tried to breath through her anxiety. She had managed to avoid Glimmer's attempts to corner her for deep conversations and, for that matter, avoid any kind of outreach from Catra.

Adora looked around their apartment, examining the streamers she had just finished twisting up and taping all around the room. The couch had been pushed to the side, and speakers were being set up for the band. Adora couldn't bring herself to be seen when The Fright Zone arrived, so she hid in her bedroom, pretending to get ready. In truth, she thought she was overdressed already. She had a short red dress on and tan heels which were very outside her comfort zone. Thankfully, she had kept her usual hairstyle and had stuck with a high ponytail and her signature poof. Adora checked herself out in the mirror and decided she looked hot. Catra, she decided, could suck it.

Glimmer pounded on her door. Adora opened it just a crack. "Why are you pounding?"

"Are you kidding? It's 10pm. Get out here and stop hiding. Woah," Glimmer eyed Adora up and down as she pushed the door fully open. "you look hot."

"Oh, do I?" Adora feigned ignorance but smirked at Glimmer, posing in her tight dress. Glimmer clapped enthusiastically.

"I love it, I do, just do it out here," Glimmer said, grabbing Adora by the wrist and pulling her reluctantly out into the rest of the house. Glimmer had curled her short hair and the ringlets were bouncing wildly as she walked. She was also wearing a dress, thankfully, although her taste consisted of a light purple cross crossed top with a very bouncy and large purple bottom. She looked very Glimmer-esk. It made Adora quite happy.

Adora followed her roommate as she tugged her out into the main room. A few people had arrived in eccentric outfits similar to Glimmer and Adora took a guess that they were some of Glimmer's friends, which Glimmer confirmed. Bow was fidgeting with something in the kitchen, having already setup his drums. He looked absolutely dapper in a light pink crop top with a white suit jacket on top. Adora came up behind him and gave him a hug. He smiled at her and then nuzzled her cheek, already a few drinks in apparently. "Adora!" He cried out, "My friend!" Adora shook her head at him and pulled a beer from the fridge. "Come meet friends!" He pulled her to a group of people all dressed in dark colors who looked like they were about to beat someone up. They looked familiar to Adora and she learned these were some of the other bartenders at Etheria. One of the larger women approached her and stuck out a hand.

"Huntara," She frowned at Adora. Adora wondered if a smile ever appeared on this woman's face. She introduced herself, giving the woman a firm handshake that must have surprised Huntara because she gave Adora an approving nod. Adora tried not to smile. Then she heard a voice that grabbed at her attention.

Music was blasting from the speakers from someone's playlist, and Adora turned to find the person behind the voice. Besides Bow, the rest of the band was checking to make sure everything was ready to go.

And there was Catra, looking very displeased that people were hanging around all of their wires. She yelled at a someone to move. Adora was grateful Catra was distracted. Catra was in a suit of sorts with maroon tight jeans, a low cut red collared shirt tucked into her pants, and a maroon suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up. A bow tie was lying around her neck, untied. "Stop staring," Bow whispered. Adora coughed and tried to refocus her gaze elsewhere.

Glimmer was spending time with her friends and Bow would be returning to the band to start playing soon. Adora chewed on her lip and wondered if she could hide out all night in her room instead of talking to strangers, but then Glimmer was suddenly there and pulling her to her friends to introduce everyone. Adora was grateful to say hello and found herself already well known despite knowing no one herself. Glimmer blushed.

Glimmer had warned her that one of her friends, Frosta, was slightly obsessed with her and Adora giggled as she watched Frosta fawn over Glimmer while Glimmer tried to distance herself. Adora found herself constantly looking over to Catra, hoping to catch her eye, but Catra seemed rather occupied talking with Scorpia. Adora tried not to be disappointed. Scorpia looked very unlike herself in a long black dress and black lipstick, but somehow it was working for her. Adora quickly buried whatever emotion was coming up from watching Catra with her ex. This was her party and she was going to have fun. "Shots?" She asked suddenly to Glimmer and her crew. Everyone let out a woop as they followed her to the kitchen.

Adora poured out shots and everyone clinked loudly before downing their alcohol of choice. Glimmer gagged and reached for a chaser. Adora smiled brightly and asked who wanted another. Frosta threw up her hand and Huntara raised hers, joining them in the kitchen. "Bet I could take all of you," Huntara said, a smirk of a smile appearing on her face. Adora thought she somehow looked less terrifying when she wasn't smiling. Still, she agreed, going shot for shot with the other. 4 shots later, Glimmer forced Adora to give up and Adora yelled that this wasn't defeat while Huntara laughed mockingly.

After being pulled away, Adora and her new group of friends joined the rest of the party by dancing it out in the living room while The Fright Zone played their set. They had taken out Howl and apparently replaced with a cover of Jamie's Cryin'. Adora laughed when it came on and saw Catra roll her eyes while Bow smirked in success. She was hot, sweaty, and quite tipsy by the time they had reached their last song. In a moment of tired and sweaty feelings, Adora decided to escape to the cool air of the back porch, grateful for a breeze to cool down her flushed cheeks.

She sat by herself, looking through the screened windows at the city beyond and took a large breath. She could hear the music dying down inside but assumed someone would take over as DJ for the night. She sighed and leaned back into the chair, knowing she'd be too cold in a few minutes to stay out here for very long.

"I thought I saw you dip out here," a voice said from behind her. Adora looked over at Catra, who was leaning against the doorway, sipping on a beer bottle. She was sweating and had unbuttoned her shirt back to its usual lowness. She wiped at the sweat on her brow and gave Adora a grin. Adora turned her attention back to looking out the window. "Scorpia's taking off, her and Lonnie didn't feel like sticking around too long," Catra explained, as if this would answer Adora's question. Adora nodded.

"Cool," Adora said simply. Catra ran a hand through her hair and exhaled loudly before stepping onto the porch, closing the door behind her. She placed her beer down next to Adora and proceeded to remove her suit jacket and wrap it around Adora's shoulders.

"I don't need that. I'm fine thanks," Adora said, shrugging it off. Catra shook her head and took the chair next to Adora.

"You're shivering. I can see your goosebumps."

Adora checked her arms and reluctantly pulled the jacket back up, tucking her arms under it. Catra chuckled and leaned back in the chair, seeming rather cheery.

"Surprised you didn't want to leave with the band," Adora said after a few moments of silence. Catra was tipping the beer bottle back and forth on the table between her fingertips but peeked over at Adora when she spoke, eyebrows raised.

"Figured I'd stick around. There's some… unfinished business to attend to," Catra replied, keeping her eyes on Adora as she took a sip of the drink.

"Unfinished business?"

"Mhm," Catra turned her body towards Adora and leaned on the table, resting her chin on her palm. Adora leaned away.

"So now that Scorpia's gone you can finally talk to me?" Adora could hear the childish tone in her voice and grimaced to herself.

"Yes," Catra nodded, waiting patiently.

"Well, you can't just come in here being all smooth and happy and pretend everything's normal."

"Wow," Catra laughed, which made Adora blush, "Look at you. All hot and bothered. You really do like me." Adora made a sound of resentment but decided to just stay quiet instead.

After a few moments of silence, besides Catra's continued twirling of her bottle, Adora whispered, "You can act like you don't care, but I know you do." That wiped the grin off of Catra's face, but she kept her body calm. The only sign that Adora had tugged on any emotion at all was the tension at Catra's jaw.

"Scorpia can know when there's something to know," Catra said firmly, "and I've given you a full week away without bothering you so you could figure that out without me interfering. I'm not a complete child you know."

Adora sat back, letting out a soft 'oh' when she couldn't think of a proper reply. Catra eyed her, and Adora saw the corner of her lip raise. "But then you pulled out the red dress" Catra chuckled, letting her eyes sweep over Adora, "And I watched you stare down Scorpia tonight." Catra continued, shaking her head like she couldn't believe it. Adora felt embarrassed and stood up to leave but Catra reached for her hand, slipping her warm palm into Adora's and stopping her in her tracks. "All I have wanted to do all night, hell all week is talk to you," Catra said, shaking her head at Adora.

Adora looked down at her. She wasn't laughing anymore but was giving Adora a pleading look to sit back down. Adora looked to the door and then sighed and sat back down, crossing her arms across her chest. "I didn't need the week," Adora said simply.

"Clearly," Catra responded. Adora expected Catra's face to be snarky but when she looked over at her she found Catra's eyes to be soft. Happy even. It calmed Adora's nerves more than anything she had tried over the last week. Adora felt a smile appear on her face. She could've yelled at Catra for putting her through days of agony but decided against it. There was something more important she wanted to do.

"Come on," Adora whispered, grabbing Catra by the hand and pulling her out of her chair. Catra let out a sound of confusion but followed her, not bothering to grab her things.

The party had started to die down inside. Glimmer and her friends were all talking loudly around the couch, and Bow was talking with Huntara in the kitchen. Music was playing softly from the speakers. Adora moved nonchalantly past the groups and led Catra down the hall towards to her bedroom. Catra gave her a mischievous look and stepped into the room behind Adora. Adora hesitated for a moment and closed the door.

She turned her attention to Catra and found her admiring the décor of the room. When Catra heard the door close though, she quickly returned her attention to the other, eyeing her curiously. She kept the distance between them as Adora leaned against the door. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to…," Catra started, but Adora shushed her, giving her a mischievous grin of her own. Something must have clicked in Catra's head then because Adora watched her face turn to want as she closed the gap between them.

Adora gave her a nervous smile but Catra waited patiently. Maggie Roger's music drifted into the room from the party beyond. Adora looked slightly down at the other and lifted a hand to her cheek. Catra closed her eyes at the touch, covering Adora's hand in her own. Adora gently pulled Catra towards her and Catra lifted her mouth, meeting Adora's in a kiss. Catra released her hand when their lips met and Adora felt her wrap both arms arouns her waist and pull her even closer. They stood like that, kissing softly, their eyes fluttering open and closed. Catra hands firmly placed now at Adora's hips and Adora pulled away, feeling a fire lighting in her.

She grabbed ahold of Catra's collar and pulled her back in towards her. Catra made a sound of surprise but fed into it, kissing her roughly. Adora kicked off her heels without tearing her lips away from Catra's and pushed her farther into the room towards the bed. Catra let her lead until she was seated on the edge and Adora could wrap her thighs around her. Catra was staring up at her, wide eyed, like she was a whole new person. She placed her hands along Adora's hips and pulled her legs up, closer to her. Adora pushed Catra back so she was lying on the bed but Catra stopped her, sitting back up.

"Oh, did I..," Adora paused.

"No, no," Catra replied quickly, her hands still holding on to Adora, her face bright and awake. Adora's brows furrowed as Catra took a deep breath.

"Adora," Catra whispered and Adora nodded, playing lightly with Catra's hair between her fingertips. Catra seemed momentarily hypnotized by it but then brought herself back. "If this is just a casual thing for you, I need to know. Like now." Catra was looking away as she spoke but the moment she finished, she looked up at Adora, still holding on to the edges of Adora's dress around her. Adora continued to play with the other's hair, giving her a small smirk that was obviously driving Catra mad.

"Is that what you think I want?" Adora asked, raking her fingers through Catra's dark strands. Catra reached for her hands, pulling them away from her body and gripping them tightly, forcing Adora to make eye contact with her. Adora obliged. Catra looked at her seriously and waited.

"No. This is not just a casual thing for me," Adora whispered. She felt Catra relax under her and try to pull Adora back to her lips, but this time Adora stopped her. Catra looked at her confused.

"What about you?" Adora taunted. Catra stopped, dumbfounded. She opened her mouth and them closed it, finally she laughed. Adora started to smile too but then Catra wrapped her hands around Adora's legs and lifted her. She flipped them and tossed Adora down on the bed, wiping the smile right off Adora's face. Catra leaned over her and dropped herself close to her ear. Adora felt a familiar sense of butterflies filling her insides.

"You can be such an idiot sometimes," Catra whispered, and Adora scoffed. She made to push Catra but Catra caught her wrist, returning eye contact. She lowered Adora's arm above her head, locking Adora down. "You are all I think about," She continued, lowering her mouth to Adora's neck. Adora melted into her. "You are all I want," Catra said, "and I just…." She stopped. For a moment they looked at each other with more than just devilish looks and flirty smiles. Adora didn't think she could move, her eyes all wrapped up in Catra and the energy flowing between them. Maggie Roger's was still playing lightly in the background and all they could hear was their breath and soft music. Adora gave her a slight grin in understanding and Catra wasted no time returning her mouth to Adora's, opening up to her while Adora tugged at the buttons on Catra's shirt. Catra helped her, casually tearing the shirt off her shoulders and tossing it on the floor.

Adora's mouth hung open at Catra. She was surprisingly ripped and had a white lacy bra around her tan perfect chest. Adora felt paralyzed. "Wait," Adora pushed back and Catra paused, looking like she was going to move but Adora held her, freezing her to the spot. Catra waited.

"It's just.. I've never…done this," Adora admitted, feeling heat in her cheeks. Catra sighed in what seemed like relief and cupped Adora cheek, gently rubbing her face with her thumb.

"Oh," Catra said simply, cradling the other's face. Adora looked away, embarrassed, but then pulled Catra back to her, kissing her gently. "Maybe… you could show me?" Adora whispered. Catra bit her cheek and nodded.

"As you wish," She whispered back, giving Adora a small wink. Adora reminded herself that she should not be in love with someone she wanted to fight a mere 20 minutes ago. Even still, her chest swelled with emotion. Catra had Adora sit up and she unzipped her dress, her nails scratching lightly down Adora's back, giving her goosebumps. She kissed Adora's neck from behind and helped her pull the dress over her head. Catra kicked off her pants and pulled Adora up the bed, so she was laying on her pillows. Catra's eyes swept down Adora's body with the face of someone admiring a work of art. Her mouth was slightly agape, and she returned her attention to Adora's lips mumbling something that sounded like "wow".

It started gently, each infatuated with the other's mouths and the moment. Then their hands started to explore each other's bodies, trailing down to their hips and legs. At some point Catra pushed Adora onto her back and made her intentions clear when she moved her mouth to Adora's chest, pulling back on her bra. Adora gasped and Catra slowed but didn't stop. She looked to Adora for approval and Adora raised her hips up to meet Catra's hand. Catra smirked as she looped her fingers around the fabric at Adora's hips and pulled it aside. Adora tried not to gasp this time, feeling fingers glide from her stomach down between her thighs.

Catra took her time, kissing Adora down her body. She spent time kissing her legs and her knees and eventually started to spread them with her hands. Adora could feel her heart racing. She had been unsure what it would feel like but whatever she had been expecting, this was better. She couldn't help herself and she cried out, feeling her legs tense beneath Catra's fingertips. Catra stopped but Adora shook her head, inaudibly telling her not to. Catra smirked and Adora watched Catra lower herself down her body. Adora did stop her then, just for a moment, to sit up and kiss her fiercely. Catra pushed back, just as strong. Adora tugged at a knot in Catra's hair and Catra returned the favor, wrapped her own hand around Adora's ponytail. She pulled her back down and kissed Adora's neck before returning to devouring the rest of her body.

Catra did have a few moves to show Adora, and Adora tried to keep her mouth shut for the guests outside of the closed door. Even still, she found her hands clenching at the edges of her bed and her body tensing, her hips raising up of their own accord. She moaned and Catra covered her mouth, continuing her work until they both were out of breath and Adora's legs were shaking.

Once Adora caught her breath, she thought about returning the favor but found Catra already nestling into her side, her arms starting to curl around Adora's naked body and her head resting in the crook of Adora's neck. Adora sighed contently and heard Catra respond similarly. They smiled at each other and Adora turned to her, wrapping her legs into the other.

"I have no words for that," Adora said finally. Catra nodded.

"No words are good."

"Actually, I think I do," Adora said, suddenly feeling a moment of pure clarity cross her mind. An idea that settled itself nicely in her chest. She let go of a breath she didn't know she had been holding.

"Oh yeah?"

"I don't know how I ever thought I liked men," Adora said finally, shaking her head in disbelief. Catra looked at her and they smiled in understanding at each other. Then the two started to giggle. Adora turned slightly red but Catra grabbed her face and planted a wet kiss on her lips before returning to cuddling into her side.

"Well thank god for that," Catra whispered. Adora rolled her eyes.

They held each other and Adora tugger Catra into her, using her fingers to gently pull at Catra's hair.

"So. Not casual, huh?" Adora joked.

"Definitely not casual," Catra replied, attempting to still catch her own breath. She was trailing her nails lightly across Adora's bare chest and placed her head there as well, her hot cheek burning into Adora's side.

"Well, now you know," Adora added sheepishly, after a few minutes of calm.

"Know what?"

Adora bit at her lip but Catra raised her thumb, pulling her lip back out. "You can't keep making that face at me Adora."

"You don't like it?"

"I like it too much. I want to bite that lip." She did. Adora grinned. Catra smiled back.

"That I'm a.."

"That you were a..," Catra cut her off, laughing. Adora went beet red and she covered her face, laughing. "It's nothing to be ashamed about," She continued, lightly shifting Adora's hand away from her face and looking into her eyes, "Besides, the thought of you with Bow... well, honestly it's really nice to get that thought out of my brain," Catra collapsed back down on the bed, closing her eyes but still smiling. Adora watched her, still looking nervous. This was her best friend laying in front of her.

"I have been told I am not the most affectionate of girlfriends."

Catra opened one eye and then closed it again, "That's fair seeing as you're gay."

"Even to other women," Adora added, her body leaning towards Catra with her head held up by her arm.

"Same," Catra shrugged, giving her a knowing look, "It's cool. You can admit I'm different. Special, if you will." She gave Adora a joking smile but Adora just felt the truth of it in her chest. She tried not to look too adoringly at the other. She relaxed.

Catra kissed her cheek and Adora pulled her back, kissing her lips. Catra held her. The pair laid in the dark in comfortable silence until Adora heard Catra softly falling asleep at her side. She too felt exhaustion hitting her and tried not to move too much when she looked over at the clock and saw that it was 3am. She watched Catra until she started to breath heavily and then nestled herself into the other, whispering to a hopefully asleep Catra that she was, in fact, pretty special. Sleep took them as they intertwined beneath the sheets. Hours later, Adora awoke with her body still entangled in Catra's. Her eyes fell on the sleeping human at her side, and she found that she had most likely just had the best sleep of her life.

I have been waitinggg to release this chapter. Hope you all enjoyed!
