Lost sense of purpose

Chapter Nine

"I also told her that I knew where you had gone. But I didn't say where. However, I will ask Vance for some time off after I just went back to NCIS. I know that he's going to be giving me a hard time about it? However, it will give me an idea on whether the Cartel will be following me to the airport." Gibbs said over the phone.

"So you're going to be flying out here Jethro? I don't think it's wise to be doing something stupid? Please don't and wait to take the time when I am going to be having the baby in two months?" she cried out over the phone.

"Are you serious? What am I to tell the doctor about trying to make it up to you with taking you out for dinner and other activities?" Gibbs commented with anger from hitting the couch with his right hand while holding the phone in his other hand.

"Just tell her it didn't work out when you decided to see her again for a session?" She was smart in saying this in the first place.

His face dropped that he wasn't going to be seeing his wife and family for another couple of months. "Fine." he hung up the phone and with Loriele disgusted as well. She tried to get back to sleep in the bedroom with no success at all with the baby moving all over the place.

It was a few days later when Supervisory agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs after the two doctors had turned in their reports on the mental state of Gibbs was able to head back to work.

Having gotten up early for work. He had headed for the diner to have his usual breakfast and coffee. He had no idea what was in store for him getting inside NCIS and his team back to him. Elle had packed him a small bag of two coffees for work since it's been a while with showing up his face at work.

"Here you go Gibbs you're all set to go and the bill?" she said with watching him limping slightly with his right knee swelling. She didn't bother to say a word to him about it as he paid the bill with cash walking out to his grey truck and noticing the same silver Sudan that had been following him during the past few weeks.

He was able to remember the license needing to speak with Senior Field Agent McGee in the field. Maybe he will be able to come up with something? Driving off with writing down the license plate anyways on a piece of paper that was sitting inside the glove department as with a pen and his second revolver.

Getting onto the major highway before making the circle head on down to the NCIS Naval Yards and stopping at the main gate with his I.D. and badge. The older security officer had noticed Gibbs asking him to pull up with his badge after being on sick leave. "Welcome back Special Agent Gibbs!"

"Thanks, Jeff. How's the fishing been going for you?" he asked since they used to go once every six months.

"Great! I have enough fish to keep my wife Susie busy with the cooking for the next week." he smiled. "By the way, Director Leon Vance would like to see you up in his office?"

"Any idea as to why he will want me to see him the first day I am back from sick leave?" Gibbs was serious for the moment with his friend telling him he had no idea. "I will probably find out when I get into the bullpen." he had driven off to his usual parking spot.

Walking inside the main entrance of the building. He had taken the elevator up to the fourth level for where Director Vance's office was located. Looking down the railing he had noticed that his team were sitting at their computer terminals quiet with their paperwork. He was having butterflies all of the sudden with walking down to Vance's office.

Opening the door to the outer office. His secretary was nowhere to be seen for the moment as he knocks on the door breaking his usual routine of barging in. "I heard you wanted to see me for something Director?"

"Yeah, I do Gibbs. I have two cases I need you and your team to be working on dealing with two dead Naval reserved officers off the U.S.S. Benjamin Franklin out at sea and I need for you and your team to fly out to investigate."

He takes the files to read with sitting down and with pulling out his glasses to see. There was silence before Gibbs was able to say anything to the director. "What about the bodies itself Leon on whether NCIS will be able to have the bodies brought back to stateside to have Doctor Palmer to work on the bodies?"

"Already in the works Gibbs. I just need you to find out why and who is behind it? Understand?" Vance said in a tone that Gibbs didn't like at all.

"Got it!" he said with taking the files with him have McGee set up the helicopter flight over to the U.S.S. Benjamin Franklin.

Every one of his team and including Eleanor Bishop Torres coming back from maternity leave with taking care of Dane for almost four months now. Bishop came up to him with a quick hug with welcome back even though the sadness of Gibb's divorce from Marcie and his unborn child... Everyone was scared to ask him about the details knowing how hard it was for him.

Timothy McGee had gotten up from his chair to let the boss know that the flight to Benjamin Franklin was all set.

"Alright then everyone grabbed your gear to head for the airfield to take the helo over to speak with the captain and possible suspects?" Gibbs needed to say with grabbing his own things to head on out to the airfield with two jeeps waiting for them.
