Loss sense of purpose
Chapter 12th
While the NCIS agents stayed on board the U.S.S. Benjamin Franklin with quarters given to them by the captain. After two attempts on Gibbs. There was always a possible chance for a third.
Security officers from the carrier were placed as well in order to keep an eye out in the area of the alcove for where Special Agents Gibbs will be staying.
Meanwhile, while it was late. McGee and Torres were sitting in the mess hall while Eleanor Bishop Torres was asleep in the quarters exhausted.
They were talking quietly. "You really think McGee that someone is going to try again to get at Gibbs and kill him this time?" Torres said with drinking his cold water.
"Yeah, I do think so Nick. So we need to be alert from here on end. I wouldn't be surprised that it's one of the medical personnel." McGee needed to say with sipping his black coffee.
Torres looked over at McGee with the drinking of the caffeine. "I thought that you were cutting back on the caffeine with orders from Doctor Cyril Taft?"
"I have been trying and believe me it's not easy with this case. I have called Delilah a number of times about it to help me cope with it," he said when he noticed someone from one of the suspects they had spoken with.
"What's wrong?" Nick needed to ask the question.
"I still think he's involved in some way with knocking those boxes on Gibbs giving him a concussion and a sprained lower back."
"Do you want me to follow him Tim?" he needed to know with needing to get back into the action right now.
"Go! And be careful Nick?" he says with finishing up the last of his black coffee.
SOMETIMES LATER...
Special Agent Nicholas Torres had followed him to engineering to meet up with another man. Torres tried listening in. But he was able to hear that they needed to make sure that Gibbs is dead.
Torres didn't like this as he headed back up to speak with McGee now in his quarters with the door opened.
Walking to his quarters to tell him the news. McGee had been talking with Director Leon Vance about the additional details of the case. "Sir, good night. I will be sure to call again sometime in the morning before we decide to leave," he said when he noticed Torres standing in the doorway. Tim ended the conversation with Vance to say the following...
"What's wrong?" he asks with a tone upsetting in his demeanor.
"Gibbs life is in danger again. I heard him talking to someone in engineering about contacting someone in order to finish up the job with killing Special Agent Gibbs." Nick said with his tone unsettling for the most part.
"Just great! This is what we don't need right now Nick?" he says.
"But Gibbs has security officers from this vessel watching the area of his alcove. The only way I will have to think to be medical personnel?" Nick suggested the idea.
"Let's go to sickbay and talk with the security officers. Maybe we can convince them to take their places for now?" McGee needed to say on the order.
SICKBAY It was late...
McGee and Torres were able to convince them after all with the switch. They had looked inside of Gibbs alcove with a nurse due to give him pain medication and to check his vitals. They had no idea who they were looking for.
When the young nurse had arrived. She was First Lt. Angela Bowers age 27 years of age and hired by the Cartel as a plant onboard the U.S.S. Benjamin Franklin. She had the one pain medication syringe filled with poison along with a rope inside her pocket in order to finish the job for good.
After they had watched her moved inside. Director Leon Vance called with an emergency message from the local Metro police.
"Go ahead Director this is McGee?" he said with Torres turning his head...
"We found another one of the Benjamin Franklin medical staff First Lt. Angela Bowers with her throat slash. Please keep an eye out on Gibbs in case of another attack on him?" he cried out just as McGee hung up quickly...
"Nick, that nurse is a fraud and part of the Cartel?" McGee screamed out with his order.
They ran in just as she was placing the rope around his neck and seeing the syringe empty sitting on the tray. Nick fired McGee to kill the woman into her head and chest four times. While they called for help to find out what type of poison was in Gibbs Bloodstream.
Doctor Efrem Dennison ran in an expert having to smell the syringe knowing the drug used. He ordered his nursing staff arriving to go get the antidote in the cabinet. While they gave Gibbs a breathing mask and another syringe filled with antibiotics.
Sergeant Theresa Mitchell came in with the antidote with the correct dosage to be given to the patient. Doctor Dennison found the proper vein to use to inject him with the antidote. While they check for any further side effects, especially when it comes to his heart rate and blood pressure.
"Special Agent Gibbs you're going to be alright." Doc Dennison will need to say to his patient. He turned to face the NCIS agents waiting...
"How is he doing Doctor?" McGee needed to ask with the importance of the question and with rubbing the back of his neck.
"He's going to be alright. I suggest that you make arrangements to have the agent transferred to Bethesda hospital for where he will be watched carefully?" he suggested with anger and annoyance along with his demeanor.
"I will see to it right away with contacting the hospital. When do you think a chopper will be ready to take us off the carrier?" McGee responded.
